How To Eat When Living In The Military?

This scoping review provides an overview of dietary assessment methods used to assess the dietary intakes of military personnel. The Military Diet is a short-term, calorie-controlled meal plan that claims to help lose 10 pounds in one week by focusing on significant calorie deficits by cutting out the amount and types of food consumed. The diet involves eating a set calorie-restricted diet, prioritizing adequate intakes of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, legumes, nuts, and seeds.

The military diet is divided into two phases over 7 days, with the first phase allowing for 1,100 to 1,400 calories per day for “on” days and keeping calories below 1,500 for “off” days. The FDA recommends adults eat an average of 1,600-3,000 calories a day, depending on age and activity levels.

A balanced diet rich in nutrients can help prevent stress fractures and other anomalies that prevent military personnel from being ready for duty. Military personnel typically get their protein through low-fat meats like chicken, turkey burgers, and dairy products. Consuming a balanced nutrition plan can improve physical fitness, cognitive abilities, and overall health.

To stay healthy and fit for combat, it is essential to limit sugar, water, sodium, lean protein, whole grains, and snacks. Meal planning, packing healthy snacks, and utilizing on-base resources can ensure families have access to nutritious foods during the moving process. Nutritionists are available to help plan meals for the US Armed Forces, ensuring they have access to nutritious foods during the moving process.

How to lose 5kg in 4 days?

To achieve weight loss, it is essential to avoid refined carbohydrates, unhealthy fats, and high-protein foods. Instead, opt for healthy oils like olive oil and lean proteins, such as grass-fed poultry. Avoid sugar and salt-rich foods like sodas, sparkling drinks, alcoholic beverages, processed or packaged meat, and candies.

Incorporate more soluble fiber into your diet, such as fruits and vegetables high in fiber and antioxidant content. Track your calorie intake by reducing your daily intake to 500-800 calories. Snack mindfully, avoiding unhealthy, packaged, and processed snacks that contain extra calories. Choose healthy snacks like chickpea salad, kale chips, or sprouts.

Chew food slowly and slowly to reduce calorie intake and feel more satiated. Drink more water, including infusing water with fruits or squeezed lemons, to help with detoxification and make you feel full. Avoid packaged fruit juices, which contain a lot of sugar. Exercise portion control by taking small portions of meals and drinking water before eating to restrict excess calorie intake.

Move your body regularly, including walking and moderate-intensity exercise, to burn calories faster. Aim to complete around 10, 000 steps each day and add 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week to boost metabolism and burn calories faster.

While quick weight loss through a diet plan is achievable, it is not a sustainable or long-term solution. For a healthy lifestyle, including physical activity in your daily routine is crucial. How to lose 5kg in a week?

Rapid weight loss involves detoxifying the body and losing water weight. A calorie deficit diet can help you lose up to five kgs per week, but it’s best to aim for 1-2kgs per week. The key is to keep the body in fat-burning mode through restrictive eating and increased physical activity. Losing around 1kg of fat may be unattainable, but losing 1kg of water weight is practical and possible. A sample diet plan for losing 5 kg in five days includes a 250-calorie breakfast, two eggs, chickpea salad, a 300-calorie lunch with lentils, brown rice, and green salad, a medium apple or orange for snacks, and a light dinner with brown rice, boiled chicken, green salad, and chamomile tea. Consult an expert to adapt the plan to your body’s needs and lifestyle requirements.

Can I lose 4 kg in a week?

Losing weight can be achieved from the comfort of our homes with the right workout routine. High-intensity exercises and strength training can help achieve 3-4 kg in a week. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a powerful tool for weight loss, as it involves short bursts of intense exercise followed by brief recovery periods. This form burns a large number of calories quickly and keeps metabolism elevated even after the workout. To begin, start with a 5-minute warm-up, then alternate between 30 seconds of intense exercises and 15 seconds of rest. Repeat for 20-30 minutes.

Is 3kg a lot to lose in 2 weeks?

Experts recommend a healthy weight loss rate of 1-2 pounds per week, as excessive weight loss can lead to health issues such as muscle loss, gallstones, nutritional deficiencies, and a drop in metabolism. Rapid, short-term weight loss can also result in muscle mass loss, nutrient deficiencies, or gallstones. To maintain a healthy weight loss, it is recommended to lose weight slowly and steadily, as studies show that slow-paced weight loss is more likely to be sustainable and less likely to cause health issues.

Can I lose 20kg in 1 month?

Losing 20 kg in a month is an ambitious and unsafe goal, but it can be achieved with a balanced diet, low-calorie foods, and an exercise routine. However, rapid weight loss can be harsh on the body, so it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before making significant changes. Slow and steady wins the race in the long run.

To lose 20 kg in a month at home, focus on healthy, nutrient-dense foods like chicken, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains. Drinking jeera water can boost metabolism, and smaller meals are recommended to keep you satisfied throughout the day. Vegetables are the best options for weight loss, as they are low in calories but high in fiber. Relax and handle stress through meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises.

A balanced diet plan includes daily consumption of jeera water, controlling meal portions, walking after meals, maintaining hydration, practicing yoga for 30 minutes daily, getting adequate sleep, avoiding processed foods, increasing vegetable intake, and managing stress.

How to lose 10 kg in 10 days?

To lose 10 kg fast, increase the protein content in your daily meal by 15 percent compared to your usual diet. Protein helps muscle mass grow and promotes metabolism, converting fat into energy. Adults can experience a fuller stomach and better energy throughout the day. Additionally, increasing protein intake can decrease ghrelin, a hormone that causes cravings and weight control. To increase protein intake, consider eating meats, seafood, legumes, eggs, and nuts. Consult a nutritionist to create a reasonable diet, as protein overload can harm your health.

Limiting carbs in the body is crucial for weight loss. Carbs increase the glycemic index of foods, promoting absorption and digestion, and making the body crave and feel hungry. Consuming too much carbs can lead to overweight and obesity, cardiovascular disease, blood fat, and elevated liver enzymes. Consult a nutritionist before starting a weight loss diet to ensure the best possible results.

How do people in the military lose weight so fast?

The military diet is a weight loss plan that involves a three-day period of calorie restriction, followed by a four-day period of adherence to a regular diet. While the military diet may be effective in the short term, long-term adherence may result in the regaining of lost weight. The diet is limited in terms of the range of foods that can be consumed, contains foods that are high in fat, salt, and sugar, promotes the consumption of unhealthy processed meats, and places undue emphasis on the avoidance of vegetables.

What is the military diet plan?

The military diet is a highly regimented diet plan that claims to quickly lead to weight loss by following specific guidelines for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the first three days. Participants are encouraged to restrict their calorie intake for an additional four days, with the goal of losing 10 pounds by the end of the week. The diet includes a grapefruit, toast, peanut butter, coffee, tea, cottage cheese, hard-boiled egg, saltine crackers, and tuna, with the option of adding a banana and vanilla ice cream for dessert. The diet is easy to follow and provides a structured approach to weight loss.

How to lose 10kg in 3 weeks?

Losing 10 kg in a month is a significant goal for many overweight and obese individuals. To achieve this, it is essential to combine various methods such as exercise and diet. Here are 10 ways to help you lose weight quickly and with less adverse health effects:

  1. Calorie counting: Calorie is a measure of the energy the body absorbs and expends in daily activities. It helps reduce excess energy storage and improves weight by ensuring that the energy supplied is less than or equal to the energy expended.

  2. Drinking enough water: Water is an important component that makes up 70% of our body, and drinking enough water can help reduce appetite and increase metabolism. Studies have shown that drinking 500 ml of water before meals can increase efficiency by 30-30% compared to without drinking water regularly. Additionally, 500 ml of water before meals can reduce the body’s calorie needs by up to 13 compared to the original intake.

  3. Drinking enough water: Doctors recommend drinking 1. 5 to 2 liters of water per day to support weight loss, blood circulation, and prevent constipation.

  4. Adjusting protein content: Adjust the protein content of each serving, limit carbs in the body, do exercises to burn fat, add more fiber in each meal, create a scientific sleep schedule, and stay consistent in your weight loss plan even during difficult stages.

In summary, combining exercise, diet, and drinking water can help you lose weight quickly and with less adverse health effects. By focusing on these strategies, you can achieve a healthier and faster weight loss journey.

How to lose 3kg in 3 days?

To lose 3 kg in 3 days, one needs to burn about 1700 calories more than they consume daily. This can be achieved by cutting carbs, eating lean proteins, drinking plenty of water, engaging in high-intensity interval training (HIIT), eating smaller meals more frequently, increasing fiber intake, limiting alcohol consumption, and eating clean. However, it is possible to achieve such rapid weight loss through a strict diet plan and rigorous workout routine.

Creating a calorie deficit by reducing calorie intake and increasing calorie expenditure through cardio and strength training can help achieve this goal. Enhancing protein and fiber intake can promote satiety, improve digestion, and boost resting metabolism, leading to more calorie burning when the body is at rest.

Focusing on increasing water intake, getting proper sleep, limiting alcohol consumption, and avoiding processed and sweetened foods can also help. However, it is crucial to note that a healthy weight loss should be sustainable and steadily achieved through safe practices without causing nutritional deficiency.

In summary, it is possible to lose 3 kg in 3 days through a strict diet plan and rigorous workout routine, but it is essential to be cautious of potential drawbacks such as nutritional deficiency, weak metabolism, and long-term health issues.

The military diet, a low-calorie plan that purports to facilitate weight loss, may result in a weight loss of up to 10 lbs. This diet does two things once you pass 3 days. You lose 10lbs. You gain confidence and understanding you have self-control of your eating habits. -Discipline

  • Day 1 : Breakfast : – a piece of whole wheat or multigrain toast with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter (if you’re allergic to peanut butter you could do almond butter, pumpkin butter, sunflower see butter or bean dip) – half a grapefruit -a cup of black coffee or caffeinated tea (you can’t add any sugar, or any type of cream/sugar sweetener | you could drink water instead of coffee or tea but it wouldn’t be as beneficial, or green tea is another option because it burns calories) Lunch : – a slice of whole wheat or multigrain toast (no peanut butter or any spreads) – add 1/2 cup of tuna on your plate (without any mayonnaise) – for a beverage : water, green tea or black coffee (again, no sugar sweeteners, sugar or cream) (If you want to season your food, stick to seasonings like pepper, garlic salt, honey mustard or any other low/no calorie seasonings) Dinner : – you can eat 3 ounces of any meat you prefer – add a cup of green beans on your plate – half a banana – a small apple – one cup of ice cream (optional) Day 2 : Breakfast : – a slice of whole wheat or multigrain toast with one whole egg : hard-boiled or scrambled or fried (if you scramble your eggs, no using milk and if you fry your eggs, no oils) – half a banana Lunch : – one cup of cottage cheese or a slice of cheddar cheese – a hard boiled egg – 5 saltine crackers Dinner : – 2 hot dogs (without buns and any sauces) – add half a cup of carrots – a cup of broccoli – half a banana (The veggies should be boiled, steamed or eaten raw and the meat should be baked or grilled) – half a cup of ice cream (optional) or half a cup of apple juice or vanilla or strawberry flavoured almond milk Day 3 : Breakfast : – 5 saltine crackers (if you’re tired of saltine crackers, you could have a rice cake for each cracker) – one slice of cheddar cheese (if you don’t want cheese again you can have a piece of ham, a boiled egg, cabbage or soy cheese) – a small apple – don’t forget your green tea or black coffee Lunch : – a slice of whole wheat or multigrain toast – a boiled egg (if you’re bored with the egg you can have a cup of milk, two pieces of bacon or a chicken wing Dinner : – one cup of tuna – half a banana – a cup of vanilla ice cream

  • When I was younger I used to do the military diet without knowing there was such thing as a military diet. My routine was to eat the foods mentioned for 3 days then on the 4th day, I’d eat semi-unhealthy to trick my body then on the 5th day back on the military diet. Let me tell you, you lose weight!!!!! Then of course after reaching your desired weight, just eat healthy to maintain your weight. It’s not that hard if you have discipline.

  • I can honestly say this will work. I have done it in the past due to a military recruiter telling me if I wanted to join the Navy I needed to lose at least 10 pounds in a week to show him I was serious and wasting his time. I did this diet along with alot of Eliptical exercise every day for 6 days straight and lost almost 14-15 pounds. In less than a week.

  • What they don’t tell you is to add to your diet three drill instructors straight from the pit of hell, who make you run everywhere you go, and forces you to complete the O-course, infiltration courses, and bayonet assault courses, in record time, multiple times a day. Also, add in missing a meal because your platoon pissed that drill instructor off. OORAH!

  • For those having trouble keeping track, I made a summary. Day 1: – Breakfast: Slice of bread (whole wheat/ multi grain) + 2 tbps. of peanut butter + 1/2 grapefruit – Lunch: Slice of bread (whole wheat/ multi grain) + 1/2 cup of tuna – Dinner: 3 oz. of any meat + 1 cup green beans + 1 apple + 1/2 banana + 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream (optional) Day 2: – Breakfast: Slice of bread (whole wheat/ multi grain) + 1 egg (boiled or scrambled) + 1/2 banana – Lunch: 1 cup of cottage cheese or a slice of cheddar cheese + 1 egg (boiled) + 5 saltine crackers – Dinner: 2 hot dogs (no buns) + 1/2 cup of carrots + 1 cup broccoli + 1/2 banana + 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream (optional) Day 3: – Breakfast: Slice of cheddar cheese or 1 egg + 5 saltine crackers or rice cake + 1 apple – Lunch: Slice of bread (whole wheat/ multi grain) + 1 egg (boiled) or 2 pc. bacon. – Dinner: 1 cup of tuna + 1/2 banana + 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream (optional) For beverages: you can drink green tea, black coffee or water any time.

  • Here is it typed Breakfast Day 1 1 piece of Whole wheat or multi grain bread with 2 tea spoons of peanut butter Half of a grape fruit and drink a cup of black coffee or green tea or water Lunch Day 1 Multi grain or wheat bread plain half cup of tuna Cup of black coffee green tea or water Dinner Day 1 3 ounces of any meat Cup of green beans Half a banana 1 scoop of ice cream A small apple Breakfast day 2 Multi grain or wheat bread and one whole egg scrambled or boiled and half a banana Lunch Day 2 Slice of cheddar cheese hard boiled egg 5 saltine crackers Dinner Day 2 2 hotdogs baked or grilled Half cup of carrots cup of broccoli boiled or steamed or raw 1 banana 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream Breakfast Day 3 5 saltine crackers 1 slice of cheddar cheese 1 apple Lunch Day 3 Whole wheat or multi grain bread with one boiled egg Dinner Day 3 One cup of tuna Half a banana 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream If you wanna do it again wait 4 days then start again Minimal exercise 30 minute walk

  • I started this diet at 291 and was able to drop 7 lbs, now weighing 284 lbs, I feel this diet is very manageable(always looked forward to the ice cream), it has taught me that my issue has always been snacking. I plan on staying on a sensible diet and will do the diet every Monday -Wednesday until I meet my goal.

  • I remember my grandma doing this diet when I was a kid. I’m 45 now. I think it was called the mayo clinic diet then. Every time she needed to lose weight real quick for something she would do the diet and have success on it. The hardest part for her was still having to cook grandpa three big meals a day. Looking back now, grandma was a little woman who didn’t even need to diet. I miss them so much.

  • Been using this diet for decades. It is tough. Starts out okay, and by the second day you think “I’ve got this.” By the end of day 2 and day 3, it gets really tough though. You really lack energy on top of starving. It is really mentally distracting too. However, it does work. I’ve never lost 10 lbs., but always at least 8. The hard part is eating normal the next 4 days and not gorging. Every time I did the diet, I swore I’d never do it again, but I have. After all, it does work.

  • I did a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with an 8oz glass of water first thing in the morning. I didn’t eat anything until about 5 or 6 PM. Then I would just eat a can of hearty Progresso soup of any flavor. Sometimes I would add in extra veggies if the soup was a little bleak on veggies. I drank at least 3 bottles of water throughout the day. Which was the hardest part for me as I absolutely dislike the way water tastes. I did this for one whole week. Eight days to be exact. I went from a size 10 dress to a size 6. And lost 17lbs.

  • i know no one asked but…. i lost 7 pounds!!! EDIT: I only did this diet for 3 days and have stopped. I have been able to maintain this weight by eating healthy meals, running everyday and participating in zumba classes 2 times a week. EDIT 2: Over a year later and I’ve gotten down to 126, down from 154 when I started.

  • Here’s a lil bit of my journey + advices. Your fooding has a serious connection with how much moving around you do. At first, I tries to lose weight temporarily this way and it worked. But it took a toll on my body. And after that, I didn’t OVEREAT but I ate normally yet i gained crazy about of weight in a short amount of time. That’s because my body thought it wasn’t getting enough nutrients and it started to store fat and food from ANYTHING I ate. So in short, I was gaining weight and didn’t have enough energy to exercise. Then I started a lil healthier lifestyle and did a calorie count and light exercises everyday. But what I didn’t realise was that JUST calorie count wasn’t enough, nutrients, fat and all mattered and it didn’t help much. After that I kinda was frustrated and started working out a LOT. Then I found out that over-exercising causes belly fat, weight gain (not applicable for people doing a lot of sport as their psychology works different and the sport is not “exercise” to them, also they eat a LOT and don’t do focused on specific body parts workouts, and take breaks casually while playing). So, here’s my advice: eat clean, have carbs once or twice a day, take a lot of protein, don’t skip out on oil use olive oil, take fruits for natural sugar and of course veges, try to drink juice (homemade ones) everyday, GET ENOUGH SLEEP (i still don’t get it lol) and I’d recommend simple constant moving and one chloe ting workout everyday (4-5 times a week).

  • I tried this diet and man does it work,I lost ten pounds in two days I’m not kidding.I followed the diet to the teeth.I exercise for 1hour in my bike instead of walking.this diet is unbelievable,I tried a lot of other diets and when I didn’t see results I quit but this one is insane,I love it and will continue, thank you so much for adding this method you tube.I recommend to everyone 100%.peace out .

  • I tried this diet 3 years ago, and after doing this diet for 3 days, I really lose 10 lbs (52 kg to 48 kg). Aside from this, this diet taught me self-discipline . It is not easy to control your cravings, to prevent yourself from not eating snacks and to eat meals with lower calories than what you used to eat. Today, I’m maintaining my 42.5 kg weight (my BMI is normal), and I stopped doing this diet for almost 2 years already, but I still carry the discipline that this diet taught me regarding eating. P.S. If you’re planning to do this diet, I recommend you to do this during your day off or if you’re a student, do this if you don’t have any classes. It may shock your body especially when you used to eat 2k+ calorie meal, then you will suddenly shift to 1,500 calorie meal or lower, and yes, don’t overexercise yourself when you’re on a military diet. Lastly, learn how to say no if someone offer you an unhealthy food (decline nicely or make excuses).

  • I’ve done this diet. However, I went extreme mode on it. Followed every instruction to the tee, but I did the diet for 3 days, rested for one day, then did another 3 days of the diet. I lost 8 lbs in one week. It works you just have to stick to the instructions and try and not do too many substitutions. We input the meals on a counting calorie app and it comes up as less than 1000 calories for all three meals in one day. Another side effect is that once you’re not on a day where you follow the diet, you find that you cannot eat the portion sizes that you used to before the diet. So it helps you lower your portion sizes on your plate even on non-diet days, thus you continue to lose weight. As long as you keep up it up, it does work.

  • I’ve been on this diet for almost 3 months, and I’ve lost 52 pounds so far… This diet really does work, but one thing I disagree with… Breakfast on day 2 is not better than breakfast on day 1. That’s BS. I love my whole grain peanut butter toast with a half of grapefruit! As a matter of fact, I’m eating it right now!

  • Shopping list anybody wondering!! butter(soy butter, pumpkin butter, flower seed butter or bean dip) (if your allergic to peanut butter) -Whole wheat or multi grain bread -Grape fruit -Black coffee, caffinated tea (water but tea and coffee are better) (NO SUGAR OR CREAMER ALOWED OR AND SWEET AT ALL FOR DRINK) Tuna (no mayonnaise) Pepper garlic salt honey mustard( no or little calorie seasonings only!) 3 ounce steak Apple Bannana Ice-cream Green bean Egg Cottage cheese Cheddar cheese Saltine cracker Hotdogs no bun Half cup carrots Broccoli Green tea Anyways no problem

  • My thyroid was removed when I was 22 and now I’m 39 and still haven’t been able to get the weight I’ve gained over the years no matter what diet I stick to I truly suffer. The only way and I mean the only way I’ve ever lost weight is by fasting and it’s misery and unfair but on the bright side my cancer is gone and I’m still here lol

  • I lost 8 pounds the first week. A total of 11 pounds so far.I did it for the month of May. I didn’t do everything exactly right and I am currently on my second day in June. I can truly see that I lost weight. I am planning on doing everything exactly right this time. I will let you know! Thanks to my coworker for sharing!

  • I did intermittent fasting instead of 3 meals per day. I started with 16 hours fasting and 8 hours eating period (16-8) for a week. Then moved to 18-6, then 20-4. I shuffle every week. If I’m hungry, I just drink water or coffee during the fasting period. This is my 6th week-7th week. So far so good. From 225 lbs, my weight now is 205 lbs. My goal weight is 160 lbs. I don’t exercise. It is hard to maintain, especially if you live with parents and relatives. Lol.

  • I’m done with day 2, it mage me realize my portions were too big before that’s why I wasn’t Loosing. Day 1: breakfast was filling, lunch reminded me how good tuna was, dinner was good. Day 2’s breakfast felt like nothing, I had to eat lunch early, dinner I ate a lot of broccoli. If it’s teaching me anything it’s portion.

  • BS. There is no quick fix. Period. 1 pound of fat is 3500 calories. 1 mile walking for the average man is roughly 100 calories. Running is slightly less efficient, so burns a few more calories per mile. Think about that. This implies you can lose the energy equivalent of walking 350 miles in 3 days. Worlds of NOPE! Any time you change your diet, you change your salt levels. ESPECIALLY if it is a calorie restrictive diet, which this is. Change the amount of salt coming in, increase fluid intake, and you urinate a lot more salt than normal. Water follows salt. (basic biology) As you lose salt, you lose water through perfectly natural processes. So the majority of this ‘lose 10 pounds in 3 days’ is WATER WEIGHT! . Why is that important? After all, water or not, ten pounds is still ten pounds that you are not carrying… right? Sure. But… Here’s the thing… As soon as you start eating normal meals again, you will get all that water weight back. Why? Because you increased your salt intake. Water follows salt. As your salt intake increases, your body retains more water. Again, basic biology. . The only way to lose fat is to burn it. Period. Anyone who tells you any different is not being honest with you. The good news is, it is not that hard to lose fat. You just can’t do it rapidly. Your body is REALLY GOOD at conserving those calories for the next famine. Your body doesn’t know famine is not likely these days. . Here’s the way to lose fat. Eat fewer calories than you burn. Yep.

  • Great diet, lost 6 kg. I had some modifications done like switching the 2 tbs of peanut butter for Hummus and added a bit more broccoli but otherwise followed strictly, eating every 4 hours and fasting after 7pm. Added a daily 10 min full body workout and a 30 min walk or 15 min yoga. Achieved better results than expected. I believe it would have been even better If was not working from home and being as active as usual.

  • This diet works. I made some substitutions, every time he said to have toast I had a small cheese pizza. When he said to have an egg I would have a cheeseburger. Instead of the two hot dogs I had a 10 ounce New York strip. For the fruit and vegetables I substituted french fries except the dinner where I substituted poutine, I am Canadian and that’s just the law here. Instead of tea or coffee I would drink a clear alcohol in the mornings, vodka or gin, and Canadian rye whiskey at dinner. I did better than he said I would, in three days I actually gained 12 pounds, not 10! Thanks for the great article!

  • Let’s get something’s straight. Doing this for an extended period of time is UNHEALTHY. It is the kind of diet usually for people who are extremely obese and likely to be about to undergo some type of surgery. Studies show that rapid weight loss can aid post surgery recovery and reduce risk of fatality on the table. Studies also show, extending this diet has negative impact. I am sorry to say, but dieting RARELY works. Though it will work for a small few, changing habits and lifestyle to lose weight slowly and progressively is the best way to lose weight, and keep it off. Once in a blue moon we will hear that someone lost tons of weight on a special diet and kept it of like a couple months later. But what about 6 months or a year later? Unfortunately because we hear about these people, (because the media like to push it, or the diet’s producer wants to make a quick buck) we think it is the answer. Also, let’s get another thing straight… exercise is not the best answer to weight loss. Surprising huh? But think about how long it actually takes to burn the calories using that gym machine/weight program, vs how long it takes you to consume the 500 calorie Starbucks double chocolate chip muffin. I am genuinely concerned by some comments left by some people on this article. Sadly this one will probably get ignored or disliked.

  • Okay I am trying this. I started today Day 1: so today I only lost one pound but that is okay. Also since my progress is a little slow I’m going to do the diet every other day and for the days in between I will water fast. Day 2: did it today! I was hungry but it was okay. Also I should mention that while I’m doing this I’m also doing Chloe Ting’s 2021 flat belly challenge. But I started the challenge today. Not yesterday. Day 3: I didn’t weigh myself today but I did it. Day 4: did it! I will weigh myself yet. Im will do tomorrow Day 5: done Day 6: done I started at 105.3 ended at 98.3 I will update at one pm PST every day

  • What they don’t tell you is that all this weight your loosing is water weight. Doctors (yes real people who know about the human body) have been telling people for years that if you fast (which is basically what your doing on this diet) your body sheds between 10-15 lbs of fluid in preparation for hibernation, or a dormant feeding period. It something we’ve kept from the times our species had to forage for food. In fact, what the body does, on a diet like this, is store as much fat as it can in anticipation of a long period without food. Exercise is the best way to get in shape. But that it slow. If you try to do it too fast you will be overcome, burned out too quickly, and give up. Remember, a baby doesn’t learn to walk in a week. It takes many weeks, a little at a time, until it’s body and mind can build the strength and balance to do it. And even then it’s only for a short time. After that it takes many more weeks/years before it is strong enough to run. Slow and steady wins the race.

  • I’m really desperate to loose weight and I’ve decided to make my own diet from hell. I’m gonna do the military diet for three days. Then on Thursday I fast for the whole day, no food at all. Then repeat the military diet. So it’s a week long diet. Also I’m moving this week so I’ve been packing and cleaning shit so this is gonna suck 🙂 I’ll edit this once I’m done and tell you how it went if I don’t die <3 Edit 1: it's day two and I just woke up. My stomach looks a bit flatter but that might but be me. The meals are super easy to make 🙂 Edit 2. Lunch day two. I'm hungryy. Cottage cheese is good but a whole cup of it is nauseating. Edit 3. Dinner day three. Why am a doing this to myself what kind a masochist am I. I just started crying for no reason today and I'm pretty sure that's cause I'm hungry who knows Edit 4. So day 4 was a failure because my family went out to eat and I was a huge burger so wooptydoo. Might try to fast today I guess. I hate this

  • If you’re gonna do this diet, I recommend doing this once or twice a month, but mainly once a month… Otherwise you’re going to be very sleepy and probably wanting to faint, and you’re going to realize this when you’re working out (either with weights, cardio, or a team practice). I haven’t done this challenge but I’m a heavy guy (225lbs my freshman year) I haven’t been consuming enough sugar during track season and I was very sleepy during workouts and I felt like fainting; but this challenge does work, my sister has done it a few times. Lol I’m just looking out for y’all

  • Sorry, anyone with a basic knowledge of exercise physiology and nutrition can tell you this is an impossibility. To lose that much weight you would need a 10,000+ daily deficit in calories. The vast majority of people don’t eat that many calories in a day (more like 2-3,000). An hour of HARD exercise will burn about 600 calories. The only way to lose ten pounds in three days is through dehydration, and you WILL gain that back.

  • Not the diet i remember in the Corps! Breakfast was 1 orange or grapefruit. Milk. 2 eggs. 2 slices of bacon. Lunch was milk. Meat. Vegetables. 1 orange. 1 slice of bread. Dinner. Was meat loaf. Bread. Potatoes. Or green beans. Lettuce. Milk or coffee. We had a high protein meal little or no carbs. Milk for growing bones for most of us were 19 to 26 years of age.

  • I was 247 and lost 25 pounds in 6 weeks. I Followed the military diet exactly like it said. I counted the calories consumed on the military diet so that i could see the calorie count. The count was under 1000 calories per day. After day 3, I moved up to 1500 calories a day for 4 weeks, then 1800 calories 2 weeks, now I keep my calories count at 2000 per day. I do have my cheat days every other wkend.

  • Since no one is really giving me the answers I’m looking for I’m going to find out by myself. I just started today. I will keep you updated. U*P*D*A*T*E Before I start I want to mention that I drank 3L water a day. I didn’t do any workout, just taking walks for 30 minutes (on one day only lol). The first day was actually pretty easy for me but the second day and the last day were kinda hard. I was really hungry and had no energy throughout the day. Also, I forgot to buy green beans so I just skipped these (for day-1 dinner) and for day-2 dinner I replaced a half cup of carrots with eggplant. Oh and I replaced grapefruit with an orange (day-1 breakfast). I didn’t drink black coffee but green tea. I did lose some weight BUT only 2,5 kg (about 5.5 lbs). Would I recommend this diet? If you want to lose just a few pounds and don’t really like dieting, then this might be a good thing for you. However if you want to lose more weight without starving yourself, you can try another version of this diet by eating the same stuff but more of it, so that you won’t feel hungry at all and can last for a week. Folks.. don’t starve yourselves. Food is life.

  • @jenniferjuneau7329 0 seconds ago It does work, I’ve done it and kept at it. This problem is, most people think it’s three days only and you’re finished and the weight will come back. It’s 3 days on, 4 days off, 3 days on, etc. you keep going Those 4 days in between, eat normally, don’t overeat, just eat what you need to eat then after 4 days, go back to the 3 day diet. It works and it becomes habit.

  • I did it for 50 days (including breaks) so about 32 days of actual dieting … i lost 62 lbs in just over a month. This does work. But i do recommend the 4-5 day break after the 3 days. Yet i did take about 18 breaks total and instead of 3 days i did it for 6 days straight checking my weight every 3 days but continuing the diet.

  • this diet doesn’t work so well when you are off of it in 4 days u will gain it all back. its best to be on it in 6 days but change some minor things up that u do not want to eat during 3 of the 4 days off. Cheat on your diet on the 7th day but remember small portions do help. It can still help you lose additional weight. the first week is normally just water weight, not fat. within the 2nd and 3rd week you will lose some fat. between 3rd and 4th week, you won’t be losing any weight as your body needs time to adjust to your new diet and current weight. This is the point some folks will give up on the diet. the fact you can have a cup of ice cream every day it can actually be any flavor they all have the same amount of calories as vanilla ice cream. doing sugar-free Splenda ice cream helps with people who are diabetic and also since Splenda is a laxative it will help you go #2. Cantolope is important for this diet too as it also helps u clean out your system with a #2 you will see your weight drop on the 4th day morning after you go. Here is the ingrediant list you can use. Day 1 * Breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit, 2 tbsp peanut butter, 1 slice toast * Lunch: 1/2 cup tuna, 1 slice toast, coffee/tea * Dinner: 3 oz meat, 1 cup green beans, 1 cup beets, 1 small apple, 1 cup vanilla ice cream Day 2 * Breakfast: 1/2 banana, 1 egg, 1 slice toast * Lunch: 1 cup cottage cheese, 5 saltine crackers * Dinner: 2 hot dogs, 1 cup broccoli, 1/2 cup carrots, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream Day 3 * Breakfast: 1 hardboiled egg, 1 slice toast * Lunch: 1 oz cheddar cheese, 5 saltine crackers, 1 small apple * Dinner: 1 cup tuna, 1 cup beets, 1 cup cauliflower, 1/2 cantaloupe, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream.

  • I don’t think the foods they list are so important to stick to. Know your exact portions choose healthy foods you like, ensure some of it is Fibre, the coffee thing is rubbish. But you should be prepared to eat 800 calories in a day and exercise for a half hour. Don’t do this at length it will alter the way your brain perceives food. Personally I chose to eat 1200 calories a day and exercise moderately and in 21 days have lost 8 pounds. But this is for a year. Then I get to add 400 calories for maintenance once I get there. I googled calories I’m surprised it’s so high. The military diet requires people to follow a low-calorie diet for 3 days and then return to regular eating for 4 days. Across the first 3 days, the diet restricts daily calorie intake to 1,400, 1,200, and 1,100 calories. The diet is high in protein and low in fat, carbohydrate, and calories.

  • I did this diet for 3 days as a start and I saw that I lost about 4 pounds without exercise putting my weight from 193 to 188. I have continued this diet consistently, and now another week later I am down to 181!!! I’m doing this diet because I need to get my weight down to 165 to join the military. I am so amazed and I firmly believe I can drop the extra 20 before my goal date! If you’re reading this and feel hesitant, don’t! Give it a try yourself although it is very hard the first three days. Your weight varies on 80% of what you eat and 20% exercise. Give this diet some time and you’ll see results in no time!

  • I don’t care how much you’re dieting or what you’re eating, you’re not losing 10 pounds in 3 days. 1 pound is approximately 3500 calories. Your body burns less than that in 1 day if you were to eat NOTHING. Also add in that you’re eating food which is putting calories into your body. So in order to lose 10 pounds you’d have to burn 35,000 calories in 3 days. Which is nearly impossible. All these comments(likely planted) and article is misleading ppl. I used to weigh 271lbs I’m now at 180lbs(lowest was 171. Took a year to lose the weight from 2015-2016) and I used to fall for things like this all the time just looking for a quick fix. It’s unfortunate that people prey on those looking to change their lives by putting out misleading info to get paid views.

  • I lost about 50 lbs. in three months. For Breakfast: Plain wheat cereal with coconut milk, fruits and nuts. I also would eat sugar free/fat free yogurt sometimes. Lunch: Turkey or chicken tacos with corn tortillas and veggies or Healthy Choice microwaveable meals. Dinner: Big chicken salad. Mix things up or substitute your ingredients but stay similar. For snacks, eat real fruits that you cut up yourself. Pay attention to your salt, sugar and fat intake. Keep them levels low. Eat smaller portions of meat and dairy products than what you usually would eat. Drink lots of water too. Take long fast walks everyday. At least for an hour. Good luck.

  • I have been consuming less than 1000 calories per day for 5 weeks now. Eat anything you want from 10 am to 6 pm staying under 1000 calories for the day. When you start to feel hungry, when your stomach starts to growl, look at the clock, wait 10 minutes and see if you are still hungry, if not then don’t eat. Drink a glass of warm water and wait until you are proper hungry. Your body will tell you once you train it to know what “hungry” really is and what a normal amount of food should be. I usually eat about noon consuming no more than 300 calories. Then 2 or 3 more times daily totaling less than 1000 calories. If I feel I need to eat something I pick a hand full of grapes or cherries, a carrot, a hard-boiled egg maybe. Keep a 100% accurate food diary so you know what you are eating. You will learn that feeling hungry is a good thing, feeling hungry means you are losing weight, it means your blood sugar is probably low (for your specific fasting level), it means that you are using stored energy to power your body. Hungar pains come and go, they are signals from your brain that you don’t have your “normal” over-full belly and your calorie load is low. It doesn’t want to burn stored energy, it wants to burn the soda or smoothy you just consumed or any other easily accessible calories. But if you’re hungry your body is probably using energy stored as fat. It will keep this up until it can’t get what it needs from fat and turns to muscle for a “better” energy source. For most people, this takes much longer than they want to be hungry.

  • Years back I honestly lost 40lbs the first month/30lbs the second month/ and 20lbs the third month, this diet really works but it is hard to keep it off do to the calorie intake is so low…….and it will take all the will power you can mustard up! This is actually the Heart Association Diet that heart patient go on before emergency heart surgery. Since it’s not patent it will be call, “Mahogani Red’s Choice “Quick weight lost!” I am starting again Dec/2017, I will post my results on YouTube and fb, Twitter, Instagram and my radio show, I will do a vegan meal plan on my 4 days off each week.😊

  • Just finished this diet, no cheating at all. I lost 6 pounds. Went from 238 to 232. I did a small amount of cardio and light weight lifting and drank plenty of water. I think the key will be to try to keep the weight off until I do this diet again in 4 days. It sucked being hungry all the time, but 6 lbs in 3 days is pretty good.

  • My update today is my last day I will weigh myself in the morning but I started at 203 I’m now 192 and my husband only did 2 days with me and he started at 201 and now he is 182 today.. this really works for us and we will keep it up if we ever need it in the future..Thanks for this military diet I thank The Most High Yah for sending me to this page

  • This is so bad for you. You can eat a lot more fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, 2-5 oz of protein and drink plenty of water every day- 800-1200 calories for 3 days and that would be healthier for you than this – ugh! Some of this is okay like the whole wheat bread, eggs and not using processed sugar. But most of it is horrible.

  • My weight 2 weeks ago from yesterday was 177.8 all i been doing is eating healthy and no soda, I also Exercise for 30 mins a day and off on Sundays. I Started this diet today and eating my lunch portion now as I’m perusal this article. I’m at 173 now I’ll come back after my 3rd day. Good luck to everybody!

  • Just measure your food and count your calories according to a deficit suited to your needs. If you count the calories on Day 1 of this prescribed diet, you’ll see that it adds up to around 1200cal. That’s suicide to a male metabolism for sure, and probably even a female one. You’ll end up binging hard trying to keep to that very low amount of calories, and you can be sure no soldier can exist on that meagre diet. This huge caloric deficit is a way unprofessional nutritionists keep themselves in business – you’ll obviously lose weight (fat and muscle) IF you keep to it, but you won’t be able to, so it will always be a problem of will, and your fault. Also, even if you do keep to it, you will damage your metabolism so much that even if you reach your desired goal on it, you’ll bounce back from it once you start eating normally again at maintenance calories and gain all the fat back and then some. Just count calories and don’t eat a deficit larger than 500cal.

  • TW: Calories DAY 1 (1102 kcal) Breakfast 1/2 Grapefruit 1 Slice of whole weat or multigrain Toast 2 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter 1 cup Coffee or Tea (with caffeine) Lunch 1/2 Cup of Tuna 1 Slice of whole wheat or multigrain Toast 1 cup Coffee or Tea (with caffeine) Dinner 3 ounces of any type of meat 1 cup of green beans 1/2 banana 1 small apple 1 cup of vanilla ice cream DAY 2 (1230 kcal) Breakfast 1 egg 1 slice of toast 1/2 banana Lunch 1 cup of cottage cheese 1 hard boiled egg 5 saltine crackers Dinner 2 hot dogs (without bun) 1 cup of broccoli 1/2 cup of carrots 1/2 banana 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream DAY 3 (870 kcal) Breakfast 5 saltine crackers 1 slice of cheddar cheese or 1 cup cottage cheese 1 small apple Lunch 1 hard boiled egg (or cooked however you like) 1 slice of whole wheat or multigrain toast Dinner 1 cup of tuna 1/2 banana 1 cup of vanilla ice cream Note: This diet is very restrictive and requires you to eat below the minimum amount of daily calories a humans organs need to function. This diet should only be done for three days to prevent organ failure or long permanent damage. If you are willing to follow this diet long term or more frequent, you should definetly seek contact with a doctor or medical professional. Besides medical conditions could this diet also be very triggering for disordered eating behaviors so please be careful. 🙂

  • there is no such thing as military diet. you just get 2500kcal a day ( thats a lot of food) and exercise, you go to sleep at the same time, you sleep enough, you wake up the same time and exercise…. compare this with your sitting job 8h/day driving home, eating 500kcal snack on the way to work, 1000kcal lunch, 15 cups of tea or coffe with sugar, energy drinks etc. and on the way back home you buy pizza, you watch tv till late etc.. here is the answer why you are fat

  • ANY diet requires some commitment and will power; this is no exception but this is VERY effective. I use this diet to periodically keep myself in check and it’s actually pretty satisfying. I also go on the wagon when I jump on this diet so it’s a double bang. I usually do this just prior to when my doc asks me for our annual BP and blood analysis. I usually stay within tolerances. This is a good and simple check diet!!

  • I done this diet and have lost some weight. Not 10 pounds but I did manage to lose some. This diet was really hard for me to do since I am used to eating the foods I enjoy and felt like I was starving. But I did try to manage to make it for the 3 days and got my weight down. I think this diet is only best who just want to only lose at least 10 pounds for some people not for people who need to lose a lot. You will end up gaining it back if you don’t keep up with it.

  • I believe this diet work but it’s not long term. Once you start eating normally you will gain the weight back. To lose 10 lbs for a wedding or military or beach day. Special occasions definitely!! Just do yourself a favor and watch what you eat. Eat more fruits/veggies when you want a snack. Don’t buy junk food….. if you don’t see it you can’t eat it!!!

  • Since I’ve tried the military diet this was something i tried for the first time and i liked it. Now i read more about other diets that can work as well. I only use the military diet when i feel that I’ve eaten more calories than i should have not saying I over did it, its just that i like saying under a certain calorie diet this makes me feel good when I’m on it for a couple of days.

  • This isn’t a military diet In army infantry basic training our breakfast was one toast, runny scrambled eggs, one fruit orange or banana and grits Lunch and dinner same usually boiled chicken, 1 bread, spinach or other veggie, rice and that’s about it. And we didn’t get butter and barely has salt and pepper that’s it .

  • I work in construction and have a high labor job. My eating habits consist of fast food almost daily. I want to give this a shot to slim down and be healthier but my main concern is will this provide enough energy for my work or is this the kind of diet for like office workers? I’m genuinely curious. I know is says “Military” diet but I can assure you I was in the army…this isn’t how we ate lol thank you guys!

  • you cant even loose 10lb in 3 days from fasting lol so your saying eating maybe 1000 – 1500 calories a day will make you loose more weight then not eating for 3 days straight lol it roughly takes you about 5-7 days on a water fast to loose about 10lb and thats only after your body has been in a fasted state for a few days prior so initially its probly closer to 1 lb per day at the start and about 2lb per day after like the 12-15 day i think i lost about 60lb after a 20 day fast but i got sick the first time i ate something low key my sence of taste was gone and dint come back till like after a day

  • In my opinion, I really don’t suggest this diet, it made me starve and different people have different needs so you might not be getting the right amount of food your body needs. Now if your going to try the diet, you don’t have to listen to me but please don’t starve yourself when your hungry. I’d suggest to have a snack like fruit, almonds, Greek yogurt, and etc. This is my personal opinion though so I hope you see my side on this! Thankyou

  • Ok so here are my results…weighed myself on Sunday May 1st 9:02 am I lost exactly 5 lbs. 3rd day was the hardest not going to lie. I also added detox and cleanse tea to my diet. Will continue this diet regimen every other week until I reach between 130-135lbs. I started off at 149.2 lbs and now I am 144.2. I definitely will substitute cheddar cheese instead of cottage cheese which i really don’t like and I ate half a banana instead of half of a grapefruit… This diet has shown me alot of eating discipline which I know will help me in the future…
