Why does Ralph Lauren always design Olympic clothes?

Ralph Lauren, founded in 1968 under the name Polo, has always been inspired by sports, particularly sportswear. The brand introduced the polo shirt in 1972, which is now synonymous with tennis, golf, and other sportswear. Ralph Lauren’s Chief Branding and Innovation Officer, David Lauren, believes that the brand’s all-American ethos is evident in the 2024 Team USA opening and closing ceremony uniforms, as well as the athletes’ village gear. The uniforms are made in America, starting at Ralph Lauren headquarters in New York, the city with the highest concentration of fashion designers.

The garments feature wool sourced from Oregon and Colorado and are produced by Ferrara Manufacturing, a family-owned business based in Long Island City. Lauren believes that the Olympic uniforms are a piece of America, a piece of history, and a piece of winning spirit.

  • Are you rage-baiting? Because your commentary is so ignorant that I can’t believe you’d launch into a 43 minute article with no research believing this to be a good job. You didn’t even bother googling the cultural motifs on the uniforms, which is central to the fashion of the Olympics- a blatant example is on the Mexican uniform where you said there’s a “Greek statue” stamped on the back of their jackets. A quick search would’ve informed you it’s the angel of independence, only the most famous statue in Mexico.
