What is the most unpopular subject in the world?

The Educational Testing Service of Princeton, N. J., has reported that the US public schools are not adequately preparing students for the subject of mathematics. The study, funded by Carnegie Corp., found that students today are not fond of mathematics, fear it, or see no value in it. Several studies suggest that mathematics is the least popular subject in the curriculum. A survey of high-school seniors revealed that 12 had never taken algebra or geometry, 26 dropped it after only one year, and 30 dropped it after two.

This lack of interest in mathematics is causing colleges to spend excessive time on subjects that should have been covered earlier. One study shows that 62 of the colleges are in this position, and an engineering school reported that 72 students were found mathematically inadequate, requiring a review of high-school mathematics before qualifying for the regular freshman course.

  • My college experience: 1. Hating school (not my specific college, I attend a Tier 1 University so I know it’s a good school, I just hate school as a general thing, I’ve never like it and if i wouldn’t go homeless with college I wouldn’t fw it at all tbh) 2. Being alone constantly 3. Having no friends bc I can’t relate to these people 4. Missing my bf back home and my dogs and my mom and brother 5. Eating at the same 4 places on campus bc don’t have car 6. Staying in my dorm all day perusal YouTube bc I don’t have friends 7. Working to pay for this expensive hell I’m living in 8. Counting down the days till I can go home and be with people who care if I exist If anyone reading this can relate please tell me bc this shit sucks.

  • WHY ARE YOU ME. Like ok I know everyone is going to be like “omg ReLAtaBLe” but your i life is so similar to mine atm. I am 19 and I’ve never had anything close to a boyfriend. No guy has ever liked me back and people (girls) tell me that I’m pretty or whatever and they’re surprised boys don’t like me but literally no guy has ever liked me and it’s really frustrating because I’m really bad at making friends and socializing and this probably won’t change and I’m probably going to graduate college and still have never even kissed a boy or anything and aksljdkakd. I’m so lonely bc I don’t have friends in college and I don’t have a boyfriend and I thought that maybe in college there would be so many options but NO ONE shows interest in me literally ever. Sometimes I feel so ugly and I’m like “of course I’m ugly that’s why boys don’t like me” but other times I’m like “oh if I’m semi attractive then I must have a TERRIBLE or super boring personality” and it’s just so frustrating ughhhghhhh sorry for the rant lol but I related hard to this article in every aspect (I’m also MAD indecisive esp. with things like college which is really bad but like asjdkksjd)

  • I’ve been through same feelings like you when I was in High School. Now I’m in College and I only hang out with 2 best friends from HS. I used to think about the same stuff like you do, but nowdays I don’t because I got used to it. It’s better to have two good friends that are always with you than a dozen who will eventually move on in life and forget about you and your friendship.

  • That’s why I love perusal your articles. You’re so real. Honestly Tiana you are so pretty and when I look at your articles I always wish I could be as cool as you. I know weird … but I find you so pretty and chill. Don’t stress it just enjoy your youth. Try to be more friendly and outgoing and maybe you will make some more friends. The right guy will come when it’s the right time. It’s not a bad thing to not have had a boyfriend yet.

  • I’m a guy and never dated. Was always the ugly friend. I always ended up on the shitty end of the stick cause the girls I’ve liked somehow liked my “friends” instead of me. Finally, I gave up. Relationships r a waste of time and emotional investment. Just focus on life and trying to make yourself happy with w.e. u want it to be, wether it be a job or vacation, etc. Just my two cents that I thought I could share with you and your fellow subscribers.

  • You dont need college to be successful like me for example went to cerritos college dropped out was hired for the LBPD and eventually got my pilot license and work for Cox petroleum anything is possible just go in a career that is demand regardless what it is make sure you ask or volunteer ppl in that field

  • Dude you need to learn to be alone. You’re in for a rude awakening if you really think you’re gonna be around friends your whole life. You can’t rely on other people for happiness. I barely talk to anyone at my new school, I’m alone often but I’m not unhappy, i learned to be alone. And I’ve been single for almost three years now, you’re literally only 19, I’m 25 I should be more worried than you. Look at the bigger picture. Honestly what’s two years in your whole life but if you’re truly unhappy then make a change…if you have the means of course . Be smart about it

  • I actually was just at Berry today and will be there for the next 2 days for scholarship interviews and wondered if I would see you or not. As a fan, I really hope you stay because I want to meet you at some point. But still I hope you choose what’s best for you even if it means that I won’t be able to meet you. Also: I’m in Rome. I might send you some fan mail at some point because of how close I am.

  • Your best options are to transfer to GSU since Atlanta has a film industries, or otherwise go back home and do CC. I’m finishing up CC and transferring to Florida State Uni now since I’m trying not to be a broke ass bitch LMAO. But going to a CC won’t be so bad and it’ll be like starting over, I recommend it if you’re trying to find yourself atm and need time to do so.

  • imo try coming back to California when you can, go to school for a bit, and then if you don’t like it, leave! Maybe you’ll end up liking school, or not, but everyone has their own path, you just need the experiences to make your choice! Also, on the boyfriend thing, I am in the same boat only backwards, so I can’t really help out there lol. FAMILY AND FRIENDS WILL HELP SO MUCH, maybe visit LA again if you can and think about it some more. this is just my opinion, when you get a chance, read it and tell me what you think 🙂

  • I feel you. I’m from Miami, but I’m going to school in Tallahassee. I am not use to the “yeehaw” culture either and it has been a very strange transition here for me too. I originally wanted to go to school in Europe or Quebec, but it would have been much more expensive and further away from home. I don’t really know what to do with myself. I’ve barely made any friends and the few that I have I don’t really connect with. I’ve only been here for about 2 months, but it just makes me sad because it seems like a lot of other people have been making friends/friend groups, but I’m just kinda here getting by. The academics here are fine, I just really don’t like the culture, the nightlife, and the social scene in general. I think that I am going to apply to the schools in Europe and Canada again for next year, but I am still not sure if I want to actually go, if I get in, because of financial reasons and the fact that schools in Canada/Europe are much more rigorous and I am afraid that would possibly ruin my chances of going to a good grad school, if I end up deciding to do that.

  • You’re still young. He’ll come when the time is right. Focus on school. Try your hardest. Work on getting that degree. Dont stress yourself out. Have fun. 👍👍 make as many friends as you can now. Once you get older. The harder it is to make friends and stay in touch. People grow up. Families. Marriage. Work. Kids. Just try to have fun while you still can.

  • Was just there a few days ago- Bumped into you in the Library during a Tour. Not sure if you remember, but it was a quick hello. My family and I wanted to kind of pick your brain, but it just seemed like you were on your cell phone as you were entering the library. We kind of didn’t want to bother you at that point. We liked the school and the kids, but it is more engaging if we actually spoke with a Real student. I recommend you stay at Berry. You do not want to risk going to community college while you are home. People tend to get more lazy being home and community colleges are so impersonal.

  • I literally feel the same way and like everyone has these high expectations of me, like going to school graduating and blah blah so that’s kinda why I’m doing it too and I’m in college also and I’m so indecisive like idk what I wanna do as far as a career. Like I honestly don’t care about doing any work because I’m like what am I doing. Idk about like taking a break from school or not but I don’t want to keep doing it if idk what I want to do and I feel like I’m just wasting money, I also want to transfer but don’t know what I want to do sooooo. Like I don’t want to disappoint anyone or like be a failure and I haven’t made any friends in college at all only 2 people from my town go to my college so ya we’re friends nothing wrong with that but I do want to meet new people and become friends but it’s like so hard for me because I honestly don’t know how to make friends and I’m a really shy person I also haven’t ever had a bf in my life and I get comments like that in real life about do you have a BF and blah blah. I really loved this article because I feel the same way and I just found your website and you just gained a new subscriber 🙂

  • This is literally a year late, but I relate so much. I moved across the country to San Francisco and I am not vibing with this school at all. I have a few friends, and I’ve struggled to make more or grow closer with the ones I have. The school it self is so overrated and expensive, so I honestly think the school is just not for me.

  • Hey, girl! I’m a Rome native & future Berry girl who found your website looking thru berry vids. I totally understand your frustration bc Rome can be a pretty exclusive community. Everyone knows each other and “outsiders” aren’t taken well. If you ever need to talk or find something to do, or even need a friend hmu on insta! @abbymckayla

  • Brrrrraaa, just stumbled upon your article and i gotta say. You be spittin’ straight facts! Awesome humor too. Im type late, but the New York schools in the city are cool, take a look. But if not for school, come visit to get lost in the city vibes. No worries Gurl stay on ya wave, you got this! Good vibes 🤙🏾 -bearemy15

  • I think it’s just hard to make friends in general in college, I took 2 years in a community college and made some friends because people are generally closer to each other. I have been at a University for 1.5 years now and made zero friends. Just understand that it isn’t you girly, you seem really cool and down to earth but Uni students are always on the go and everyone is dealing with their own stress I suppose. If you get lucky a new person will come your way when you less expect it 🙂

  • Same here Tiana . Bad at making friends in my college or any kind of decision.😅dunno what I’m gonna do next so going with the flow. Anyways there was a time I thought I would find a person who d be a soulmate too n well apparently that didn’t happen. Not in college someone from my past showed up n I realised that she was the one. So anyways I hope you find yours too.

  • Im transferring to George Mason University right outside of DC for the fall semester. Currently, go to the University of West Florida and it sucks. It’s a lot of crap at this school that sucks including the area. It takes me 10 minutes to get to Alabama haha. I thought about FSU but at the same time it makes me want to walk into oncoming traffic. At least in DC I will have access to actual internships.

  • Being the same age as you, I can relate so much. I always feel lost cause we’re growing up & it’s hard. But honestly you seem like a cool ass person so just keep your head up high, things will fall into place. Btw I followed u on Instagram as well, feel free if u ever wanted to hmu on there, seems like we have some stuff in common along with YouTube of course.

  • I also share similar struggles with the whole social aspect. I feel out of place and lonely. The sad thing is that I attend school with some of my high school friends yet I never see or hear from them. I recently talked with them only because I asked them something, but I feel like I can’t even consider them friendships anymore. They are more of acquaintances than friends now.

  • based off the chart i would definitely transfer to GA state. especially if you’re interested in film. when i toured berry i got the feeling that all the cares about was a few majors and that was it and film didn’t seem that important(in my opinion) but i totally get the lack of friends thing. i go to the university of tennessee (which i picked over berry) literally everyone here came to college with a huge group of friends or you’re a complete loner which SUCKS but the best thing is to get involved which i’m trying to do (which is sooooo hard) but oml i relate to you sooooo much!!! like literally every part of this article i was like “ya that’s me”

  • I feel you so hard with this article. I moved to the same town for school (I was a freshman at Shorter last year). I now live in Rome because I got an apartment for school so I’m practically trapped here. I understand the whole feeling alone thing because we’re going through the EXACT same thing. I miss all of my friends and family but I rest easy knowing I’m not the only one whose going through it. Keep trucking girl! You’ve got this!

  • hella real talk :ooo i’m honestly going through the exact same thing regarding making friends in college, so girl, you’re definitely not alone in this even though it might feel like it :(( i’m going to a CC in california and i feel like they really take care of you in your academic journey except i guess that might vary on each CC you consider! and omg dating really does suck in this society (sorry, i know u didn’t really want ppl to comment on this topic) that i resorted to a dating app tbh LOL (OKCupid). idk how comfortable you might be with using dating apps, but i believe you can get lucky cuz honestly i was able to meet someone there that i could really call my “soulmate”. you got this!! i’m rooting for you all the way cuz you have a really unique personality that others are missing out on 🙂 legit tho i’d love to have a friend like you one day. good luck!

  • Garaunteed results: Create a tinde account – have a honest bio like ‘just waiting for someone to bring me out for drinks x’ – during your tinder conversation you can say something like ‘when are you gonna ask me to meet up with you?’ – you will be garaunteed at least one date within a week – bring your friend along with you at the start if you are scared of meeting a stranger, they can leave soon or they could be your escape plan out – go on many dates, you literally have nothing to lose – pick the guy you like the most from your dates – boyfriend secured

  • Go to georgia state, the city is a great place for film! You also get a fresh start. In terms of the soulmate I feel you on that heavy. But sometimes you just gotta put yourself out there. I was in your same situation moving from Nebraska to Chicago and I had a hard time making friends at my school. Im transferring to another school in the city with more diversity and I hope all goes well. Things will work out for us Im sure of it 💗

  • whenever I go to school, it just feels like the life has been sucked out of me,and I just become so boring and drained that I even can’t stand myself no more, I start to hate myself, it’s really a horrid feeling. I do get good grades I am really grateful for, but I just wish I could feel happy like the other kids around me . I don’t know why, maybe it’s the people in my school or something but I just feel sick there and just want to go home do what i actually enjoy and want to learn . I don’t think school is useless in all cases but for me it’s doing more harm than good at the moment . From my young young childhood it has alwauys been the same ; study or else this bad thing will happen to you, go to school or this bad thing will happen to you, conform or something bad will happen to you . I have never known any different, i was raised in school, I grew up there, so I think I have spent enough time there to be qualified enough to say i don’t like it much .i am so grateful for all i have and had and will have, all the opportunities and experiences i got to live, but I am still fearful that all my efforts will be wasted, hopefully not .sorry for venting but i just felt I needed to get this off my chest .

  • its not even grades i care about, i just really dont want to have no interact with people i dont necessarily like, i dont get bullied or anything, infact im liked by basically everyone, the more i write, the more i feel like im complainng for nothing, i just seriously, would do anything to not go to college. Im not even just some stupid kid whos complaining about school because its boring, it really affects my mental health.

  • Everyone before high school: Grades are SUPER important, sacrifice whatever you need to get good grades! Everyone after college: Yeah they really don’t matter *I will say I think grades in high school really are super important cause you can get a really great scholarship for having good grades and a good ACT score

  • I never liked college. I always wanted to be a professional football player but my mum essentially took that dream away from me by saying that only small amount of people make it and that i would fail which is understandable, but now I’m stuck in college learning about something I couldn’t care less about, I’m doing it because it was the most interesting subject from high school but I loath going into lectures every single day. I’m 19 now and I hate the path that I’m going through. The only thing that kind of salvages this experience is that I will be joining the college football team next academic year. Other than that college sucks

  • I really have to let go of my internal Asian parent. Even when I get a B, I feel like I “failed” for some reason. The weird thing is, my parents never even stressed the importance of grades. Generally, they do not even care about my grades. I somehow developed these unrealistic standards of getting A’s all the time on my own.

  • I’m literally gonna cry, I hate my experience at my new hs so far, it’s fresh man year for me and the past 2 years were online due to the pandemic so I haven’t been in one before. I have social anxiety, call me weird or whatever you want but it’s really tough to not be anxious like all the time, I literally can’t be really social, I’m always alone at lunch, and pretty much all I do is my work, no fun or hanging out with people. It’s kinda sad tbh cause I did have friends but they changed schools and became toxic and just kinda dropped me, so I’m basically a loner rn. On top of all of this there’s also so much stress work related and I don’t know a lot about the place which makes it even worse. I kinda wanna dropout or just stop high school yk? Like I want to keep doing the work and get an education and all, but I can’t take all of the other experiences, it’s just too much. Also I have kinda bad noise sensitivity so just being at hs everyday with all that fucking noise makes me wanna cry 😭

  • Hey Alex, I’m really glad you’re touching on this subject because it’s been on my mind so much lately. The start of university for me lined up with the pandemic and distance learning. It’s much harder to feel attached to any of the work I do in school thanks to the combination of it all being so much more distant and so much more advanced that the knowledge is even less likely to matter now. I want to be a high school math teacher and I take some inspiration from your Java tutorials in my own teaching theory. However, I feel a lack of passion about my work because set theory, abstract algebra, etc. are not going to be taught at a high school level and I just want to focus on the information that is more relevant to me, like calculus. That being said, I have been practicing the approach that you talked about in this article. I tried to put my biggest stressors in the back of my mind so that I could enjoy my own life more. However, I actually feel more miserable now than I did before. In the past, I felt like I was spending every waking hour doing work that I didn’t really care about, which is what motivated me to try to enjoy my life more instead of letting work consume all of it. However, I have gone too far in the other direction, and I feel a lot worse now because my lack of success academically makes me feel like an outcast among my peers, like a failure as a person, and also not cut out for a job as a teacher if I can’t even do well as a student. I agree with you in this article that it is important to value your own growth as a person, but I think it is also important to mediate that mindset with the acknowledgement that we can’t avoid all of the tedium in our lives.

  • thank you alex! i feel like if you wanna go to uni, in highschool you DO have to get good grades, but once you’re doing your degree you only need to pass it to get the title I’ll be studying computer science next year and in my country the grades you get in senior year are very important to get into the university you want, and it os very hard to not stress about a bad grade but it really isn’t the end of the world

  • I hate school. I’ve tried so many times and end up dropping out 🙁 I gave up on my program and am probably just gonna take non-program classes. I have 2 kids and enjoy learning at my own pace. I think taking single classes will give me a better opportunity to succeed in my own way. It’s not that I hate learning, I hate being on someone else’s time.

  • Life could be so much easier if only i know how to socialize.. school would be easy and having work would be easy if only i know how to socialize… i can do school and do work the only problem with me is socializing i just can’t seem to socialize no matter what i do it makes things impossible and hard to do even now in online class im struggling so much because of so much anxiety…

  • i can’t do this anymore. i’m still a kid. i just got into middle school and it’s gonna be so much harder in the future. i hate school. i stay up late at night (rn it’s 12AM) and usually it’s because i don’t want to wake up and go to school. it’s horrible having six classes and being embarrassed and my friends.. just leaving me out every day. it’s starting to get to be too much.

  • I am closing in on my final months in sixth form and I have no clue what I wanna do in the way of a “practical” or “realistic” job… everyone else seems so ahead of me, they seem so motivated and keen on doing school work yet I have absolutely no motivation, everyday at school feels like torture to endure for 6 hours with a mostly empty timetable. In lessons I don’t even feel like being productive, my grades in the 2 lessons I take at A-Level are looking like a C and a D just based off effort grades and I don’t even like my book, to even keep adding to them. I sit around in class with my twin bro who’s in the same case as me, we both wanna be YouTubers/content creators online and his isn’t doing so well as he’s at 100+ subs and I’m at around 1.2K subs. Views and overall interactions on the average article aren’t so great so I’m not sure it’ll ever be a stable income in the future. I can generate around £10 to £40 a month on average and yet its the only job in the world that I wanna do. Either that or Twitch atleast. I have no clue what to do after sixth form, I feel like a failure, I hate being called lazy coz I have ambitions to travel the world and to do amazing things but they seem well out of reach and all the while my sixth form is constantly pushing university or apprenticeships onto the students like as if they are the only ways forward. Could I also say, I’m socially inept, scared of the big world and have no courage to get a job and I’m 17… life sucks man.

  • Bro thank you so much I don’t aim for super high grades I only care about passing so if I get a c I’m alright but If I get a D that’s when I try a little bit because I want to be more focused on what I want not what school wants of me and I can say I’m a better person because of it because I’m not completely focusing on school but focusing on moulding myself in to society because I really want to become an actor not for the fame but for the chance to meet new people

  • Thank you so much for your advice. I needed to hear this. Personally, I’m one of those students who is constantly stressing over grades and trying to be as perfect as I can. Only recently, have I started to be be okay with getting a B or two. It helps knowing that it’s not the end of the world and not the only thing that matters. I matter. We all matter. Focus on what makes you happy!

  • I despise school for the opposite reason that most people do. I love the learning aspect but I can never seem to get along with the people. While I long for genuine friendships and deep connections, others could care less about them. I’m realizing I just need to detach and stop caring so much about them because they could care less about me and it’s painful. At the same time I’m not sure why I care so much.

  • I just don´t feel myself at school.. And i also don´t like it to be in a building with around 400people.. All i ever wanted to do or to have in life is.. That i could live somewhere deep deep deep in the woods.. Just me myself and i.. No one just me.. And just to live my live… Cause for me live is nature.. And not this generation of school and all that other stuff.. I would rather be in a jail where i can watch tv where i get food and where i can sleep with no one else.. Then just going to school every single day.. I´m not saying i´m lazy to go to school because alot of people think that but it´s just that i want to live deep in the woods in a wooden house.. And not in a city with people dirty floors trash cans and unhealthy food and alot of people.. I just want to live deep in the woods in a wooden house and just enjoy my life as i am supossed to do.. But yeah this generation won´t let me.. If it´s ever gonna get bad.. Well it already is bad but if it´s going to be badder.. Then i am going to run away… I will walk to the forest i don´t care how long it would take me to be there.. And i will just survive.. And you know.. If i don´t survive it doesn´t matter.. Cause that´s how live works.. That´s the same with animals they have been born.. They are in the wild.. And they take risks.. They need to know which prey they want to eat or attack.. And if another animal kills the animal.. It doesn´t matter. Cause that´s how life works.. It´s not that all humans or animals live up to a 100 years old.

  • I just HATE my school rn i wanna transfer soo bad. I have a mental breakdown before going to school every morning I hate my teachers every teacher is sooo mean and give a ton of homework like we are not humans we have exams every week and we only get sundays off we are not getting summer vacation this year because apparently when u get in 8th grade u are not a human anymore and dont deserve breaks we are to expect exams in summer and exams after summer its just too much work with zero breaks i have 7+ hour of homework every night and i am honestly exhausted.

  • I hate school I’m in 7th grade. I have almost no friends because I am not very normal I don’t care about brands like Nike ect. I’m very shy and quiet. I get picked on so much I’ve learned to just act like I don’t care so then they will get bored. I hate telling people about my emotions and problems. For anybody who says just go to your guidance counsellor I hardly talk. I have maybe three friends in school.

  • For me its not about the work. Its about the ppl and teachers. I get anxiety over teachers and ppl in my class. Teachers saying my behaviour is unacceptable when they are the ones doing it and causing more problems in my life and its like I can’t reach put and speak to anyone anymore because mostly they don’t care or they act like they care and then just stab me in the back.

  • I’m stressed right now… Please help me what should I do😭 My school are 2 and a half hours long to travel. Our ftf started this last august and I didn’t go to school until now. I have no money, that is the main reason. I’m crying right now. During online class my neighbor helped me through connecting from their WiFi for free for me to attend virtual class and submitting tasks. But now, that the ftf started🤧😭 I can’t. What should I do?? I can’t sleep either. My prof are super strict and I wonder if they’ll understand my situation. And right now, I just received a message from one of my block mates, If I’ll continue my studies. I’m a third year BSIT college student. I don’t know what to reply. My mind is messed up right now. What should I do?😭😭😭 Help me please.. please

  • import java.util.*; public class MotivationByAlex { public static void main(String args()) { scanner in = new scanner(System.in); System.out.println(“Hi Alex! I love you java tutorials a lot, and now your motivation tips as well. I would request you to upload everyday 1 minute article to give a daily dose of motivation to achieve a long term goal and keeping up for it. What would you like to say about that?”); String Alex = in.nextLine(); } } PS : Pardon me if you find any syntax error, didnt compile and check it😅

  • Currently I’m in my second year of College, I feel the pressure building on my everyday and it makes me sick to my stomach at times, I have severe insomnia so sometimes I accidently sleep through classes due to me being up all night and that really kicks me where it hurts. I am in a few classes that I absolutely hate and I am failing, but I am in some other classes that are super fun and I am passing with flying colors! I just try to look at it like I am learning what works for me so when I find a professional job I am not bored to death and miserable. I am planning on going into cybersecurity due to my great understanding of computers and interest in the field! Thanks for the little spark of motivation u made my day!

  • I miss so much school just cause of the fact I always feel exhausted and overwhelmed whenever I go to school, I’m kind of just the pass around friend too, I don’t have any close friends. When I go to school all I do is really sit there, do the assignments and count the seconds until I can leave, I feel bad for my parents as they work to support me, but I just can’t stop. I’ve been begging for alternatives like online school but the person I’m supposed to talk about that possibility with hasn’t been at school for weeks. Whenever I go to school which used to be 4 days out of the the week and has now been reduced to 3 because I’ve been feeling worse then ever, I usually come back so mentally drained or even crying. I’ve tried going in with a positive mindset, I’ve tried getting up extra early, sleeping extra early, trying to enjoy it. But I just can’t.

  • I love you man whenever i hear that school is about to start i get really nervous i dont wanna make my parents dissapointed like i just cry when school is about to start im stressed and tired i feel like i just wanna give up but i dont cause i have faith in Jesus❤ and i love my parents really much! I dont wanna make them dissapointed we are just poor theyve got a son whos stupid i just wanna get smarter but this article helped me thank you so much.

  • I will watch this instead of meditating. I hate my majors (specifically, chemistry) so much and everyone around seem to have a grip of what is going on. I can’t with the two semesters left. Being told l need to have the passion just sucks more cause l know for a fact this doesn’t make me happy. My emotions are so imbalanced and they can never stay hidden from everyone around me.

  • 💜GOD IS good and He loves you!!💜 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” John 5:24🌈 “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE” 1 Corinthians 13:13🌈 “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,” 1 Peter 3:18🌈 “He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2🌈

  • Currently a junior in college and an Exercise Science major. I know it’s not the hardest major but I have 4.0 and mannnn, i know nobody cares but I put so much pressure on myself to keep it. Like i over stress in school so much just because i want to graduate with the label of a “perfect GPA”. I’ve tried several times to intentionally slack off and just let myself get B or even a C. But my damn ego won’t let me.

  • an issue i have right now is i just moved from a school i liked a little bit, i had friends that i at least shared similar interests in and same sense of humor, now that i’m at my new school, i can see just how much less mature my classmates are which is a big set back plus our senses of humor are a lot different in comparison to my old friends, idk what to do i just feel really lonely and i have 5 years of this left

  • school has never been something that i truly enjoyed, it never feels like i was learning much, it always feels like i’m better off just learning in the domain i want to learn and i just wanna get out of school already (this kinda makes me think that the following years will be hell for me, since i’m only in year 7). i hate school so much, at times i barely give a single fuck about which grades i got, and in some semesters i downright did none of the homework given. even now, where i’m in an education system better than my former education system (which was the romanian education system. yes, it was, and still is shit), it still feels more like a chore instead of a good thing, but at least i’m not gonna get angry the next day because i’ll go back to hell.

  • In Germany we do not have A-F we instead use numbers 1-6. Everything else is obviously the same just with numbers. That though, leads to a saying in relation to the game ‘Captain’s mistress’ or ‘Connect Four’. In german it translates to “Vier gewinnt” wich re-translates to english to: “Four wins”. From Elementary to Academy there is a VERY common saying among german speaking students: “Vier gewinnt”. It is a reference to the game BUT its meaning is SUPER important: It effectivly means get AT LEAST a D. PASS! That is all that matters! Nobody cares in the real world if you passed with an A or a D. JUST PASS! It is of course a different story when you need specific grades to access specific stuff but even then the same logic applys. JUST FUCIN PASS. That of course would include cheating but the downside to this is that the skills you need to pass are usually skills you actually might need. But once again the same logic applys: JUST PASS! BECAUSE THAT is what the folks in real world DO care about! And if your good enough to PASS you are usually good enough for the job. And if your not well … then you at least PASSED 😛 … Because unless you are a genius, Passing itself is hard enough often enough.

  • Hey y’all ! I wanna share my feelings here, I HATE school and since the first grad at primary school I didn’t want to go and I was crying and the idea of that going to school is mandatory was really killing me like since I was a kid I couldn’t accept that I gotta go somewhere I don’t like and there’s no other choice but then I accepted it but when I got into middle school I had the same trauma again why !? Because I couldn’t accept this new changement and I already barely started to get used to primary school, so now I’m in the last grade at middle school this year is my last one and then I’ll go to high school and actually I hate middle school and my class like my classmates are so sneaky and the idea of spending a whole year with them uhhhhh it kills me frrrr Well bring me back after a while so I can share my experience Good luck for y’all ✨✨🤝

  • it’s not grades that I’m worried about, I’m sure it’ll be easy to pass my subjects. it’s more so about the people at school. I have a huge personality/humor barrier with them and I don’t really click with anyone, so it’s like whenever I go to school the life gets sucked out of me and I’m reduced to a boring, socially-anxious mess who just sits at my table the whole day, either reading or on my phone. it’s exhausting not being around my people anymore, since my friends are all in different schools (except one, but she’s still a grade below me) and they’re the only ones I can be myself around. like god damn I can’t yap around these mfs no more because our humor is so vastly different from each other’s and also because I have no one I’ve gotten even remotely close to; everyone already has their own established friend group.

  • To me… School is just boring. Especially when the school don’t let you bring phone and there is a lot of time when the teacher have a meeting and there’s no lesson at all which make me bored as i was a introvert. I’m also a shut in so i like to spend most of my time on my room and school is just plain stupid. I don’t have a problem about grade or anything but i don’t like to attend school like everyday. It burn me out more quicker than perusal some movie i’ve already watch. But it is life anyway, got an Asian parents who want you to be a doctor when you’re just a failure who shut themselves in their room for the rest of their life.

  • I really needed this today. With finals coming up, stress is at an all time high. It’s nice to get a little reminder from time to time that the world isn’t going to end no matter how I do. Sure, I’ll do my best, but it’s good to remember that my exam score won’t affect me as much as it feels it does in the real world. Thank you Alex.

  • I don’t mind the school work at all actually. I just hate the environment and people there. It just feels as if I’m somewhere I’m not supposed to be in. I feel isolated from everyone else. It’s been 1 semester of being in this school after being online, and i made a couple friends im not going to lie. I did. But i just hate socializing, man i just rather the peace and quiet, but everyone around me is so loud. I want to be homeschooled but my parents won’t let me :(. My attendance is pretty bad rn, but it’s okay. I talked to my counselor and i was telling her how bad I felt being at school and all she would say is that i can’t dropout, that it’s a bad idea and that i should take care of my attendance. I take honor classes and I’m taking business&finance/architect classes as a 10th grader. I have most A’s and B’s (a couple C’s) . I like academic validation but at the same time I hate depending on “being smart” because I get beaten down when I get bad grades. I do not like school, I hate it? Yes I do!

  • i am writing this to get my feelings off idc if u read it or not but i am still writing this school is like a hell to me my current school is btw i am changing school sooo like i was not well i was always sick and constantly having fever so i kinda skipped 6th grade and i didnt read the basics properly and failed almost all my subject leaving science and maths so i was made fun of that and people started to kinda avoid me when i return back and my male teach was harrasing me and he maked fun of me on 7th grade and HE TOUCHED MY THIGH and i am tramatized and i failed to of my subs in finals and my teach gave me chance to rewrite the q paper again so i went there and MY OWN TEACHERS STARTED TO TALK BAD ABOUT ME WHEN I WAS WRITING MY EXAMS like u dont know how it feels when u think its not bad i am like a free bird let out of a cage today yea the incident happen today ………………… ah i feel soulless

  • I for sure can relate. I’m going to graduate HS in a little over a year, but I’m taking the hardest and most “impressive” classes my school offers to mentally reassure myself that I am “good enough” to get into a top school. I usually do fine under pressure, but recently, it’s just been too much. Not only am I constantly drained and exhausted mentally, it’s taking a big toll on me physically as well. Feeling like this, especially everyday, makes me less and less excited for college, which has been one of my biggest goals for a really, really long time. Thank you for this, it helped put my mind at ease for a bit. (Also, thank you so much for your java articles, they are truly lifesavers) 🙂

  • I’ve never really thought about why I actally hated it deep down but now that I realized it’s actally because school isint the same as before… because 5 almost 6 years ago my bff moved away So a few days after I felt like school was a huge dump and I wished it ended especially this two times that are rare so it was the last 2 days of school it was steaming hot as heck and I couldn’t sit down And I was more mad because on purpose these 2 kids sat in my seat and there was a substitute so I couldn’t do anything and I had nowhere to sit for the next 30 minutes so I was very mad and it was field day so the whole time I couldn’t sit down so when I got back home I was very stressed and crying mixed with very mad as soon as I got home I drank 2 whole bottles of water and I don’t know why the hell I even went- I mean I was missing a lot of days so ofc the social worker is gonna be mad so I mean I was forced and I don’t talk in school people thought I was select mute or I had social anxiety but I didint It was all because my bff Samantha left so it made me change a lot and it just wasn’t the same and it is very hard for me to make friends especially because I don’t talk anymore and because I feel like people hate me and judge me so I try my hardest in school even tho I hate it and I always fail grades now I get F’s on all my grades except Spanish it’s a c but it’s still bad so I also felt like a failure and it makes my heart break because it’s going worse ever since she left and I don’t have her email or phone number I am trying to look for someone who has it but my cousin doesn’t cooperate with me she dose not ask her neighbor because she was one of her friends so I am assuming she has it and it’s honestly not my fault I mean I wish I can do better but I can’t and the fact Samantha moved to Miami- like idk if she still is alive I mean I hope so but I have to just keep wishing I found a shooting star once when I was little and I wished for my first dog and it came true but my parents hate me so they say they bought it for my older brother and I am not sure why but this whole week I couldn’t sleep and right now it’s 2am so I can’t sleep idk why and i have had more struggles in life and it started when I was very young so I am used to it and when my mom yells at me very mad I am not sure why but I start crying and my heart beats fast like I can’t breathe and I start to shake and I suffer in the heat so that’s a hard reason why I can’t go to school sometimes but my school dose not care they want me to go no matter what wich is why I hate school and I know absolutely that most of the whole school and students know me and hate me idk why but I think they gossip about me bc lots of people know who I am in the school when I haven’t met them yet so I am confused

  • My teachers at my school don’t even teach, they just give me a packet or some sort of stupid online program to do and then they just say, “learn the unit yourself” and then they test on us to see if we really learn from the packet and i hate this type of teaching, because i learn when the teacher is actually engaging with the classroom and actually uses examples to help me learn.

  • I mostly hate my school because other than just the studies. Like ofc there’s pressure in studies, but then again there’s also pressure to look perfect infront of others. The school is basically just filled with spies disguised as cleaners/any other employee. I could sit in the library alone and that’d be a problem because “they” can’t stand a girl sitting alone in the library which ALWAYS has a teacher guarding it anyway, i just like sitting away from people for some time everyday. Everyday as soon as we enter the block there are a bunch of creeps(teachers/discipline incharges) standing in the hallway as a group staring at the kids passing by to see ig they’re “wearing their uniform right” or “havent forgotten their ID” cause if so there has to be a fine fee. I just hate being treated like I’m in Jail n controlled and monitored through every single movement i make. I hate my school because it’s nothing but a bunch of creepy, old hags that got nothing better to do with life so they want to make others miserable, and i especially hate the school principal she’s the one who initiates these in the first place. There are people even outside the schools who are monitoring everything that the students do outside the school while waiting for public transport. Truly sickos fr. On top of that they want us to believe they’re doing it all for our own good. Now tell me,How can i get myself to go into such a place when going in there alone feels like a punishment?

  • My country was never prepared for doing online classes, being third world and all… Their teaching not only sucks, its frustrating having slow internet connection during classes… I used to like school back in my junior years… But then i realized how wrecked the education system is in my country. All of it is pointless lectures that dont lead to actual skill development. The teachers here in math and science dont even actually know math or science. They’re just hired cuz government has no sense of quality over quantity. I hate school not cuz of the usual first-world problem of “not knowing how to teach yourself”… The government in my country can’t admit they cant actually continue education during the pandemic… So that’s that. Frustrating as hell

  • I need advice. I’m only in high-school actually but next year I’ll be graduating. It’ll take me a few more years till I can go to university. However, I want to be an astronomer and it’s been my dream since young. I’ve been doing my own studies about radio astronomy too. The thing is, I had like a meltdown in the middle of this year and missed out a lot of my other subjects. Currently I’m trying to get back on track but Science is the only subject that I think I can do well. Maybe English too. When he said that grades don’t really matter, I want to know what he meant. Like, do I focus on science and math since it’s something part of astronomy? And I want to go to a university in the future and get a degree. I’m worried it’ll be very hard to get a job. Especially in my country where things are extremely expensive.

  • I always got told this, and now I suffer from it, I have bad grades, I can’t really follow up in school, and I’ve got declined on so many applications already. It’s all because of one bad grade in IT and as someone who is trying to get into IT-Services it’s really hard to find a job there with a bad grade, but my teacher sucked and the IT we did in school, matter of fact, doesn’t have anything to do with the IT I would like to work in.

  • My advise is get your GED or high school diploma real talk, what does it benefit a lot how u ask well let me tell you, first college east it get into,2nd is trade school well they require a GED or high school deploma and it’s none stop class after work and tht a good thing u but if u drop out and say we’ll I don’t need a diploma :: things might get tuff !!! And when they do trust me it’s going to get real fast member when it rain it pours now if u think u got it all figure out I’m telling u things changed:: soo take it from me Get it down now when u get older it gets exhausting why becuz the older you get the more busy you are so whn are u ever goin to get this opportunity again …..? Gooo 4 it and keep pushing better things are coming

  • Hi im a 10 year old and im using my moms phone and im just here to say i loved school since kinder to grade 3 and also i regret it saying i hate it at grade 4 and i hate it because we write to much in the blackboard and i regret it saying all of those things right now since i think i love it more to write instead of answering questions since i dont get that high in scores but i do not get very low grades at school just perfect

  • Thank you Alex for this Sage advice! I am returning to school after spending 10+ years in the workforce, pretty much jobs that my heart wasn’t in. My wife managed a good career after graduating from college and its what motivated me to return. The only problem is that the College assignments are really difficult and they are relentless, I will remember this article when I am in a bind.

  • You are a lovely man with a big heart. Thank you for uploading your coding tutorials. You have no clue how much they help me. At the same time I hope you’re doing okay – in these past articles you seem a bit sad. The pandemic has been rough on everyone and it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know for me it hasn’t been easy. Reach out to friends and loved ones if you find yourself going into a particularly dark place. The world is much better with you in it, and you have helped hundreds of thousands of people to learn how to code. Thank you for being you.

  • Just got in a private high school and I dont really like people, theyre “bums” u could say and not really funny + wealthy. I dont know in term of education if private school is better because Ive never been to a public high school but I know that I dont fit in and I have no problems at school and learning things in general so the social aspect of school is more useful to me than the interactive education aspect of a private school (Sorry for errors english is not my main language)

  • Any tips? I do online because i just couldnt stand public school anymore. O cant drop out because its highschool i only have till this may the from august to December when i graduate. Not that long. But i just cant do school. I dont care about the grades or that my parents will be pissed. That i jave a test in 2 weeks that basically determines if i graduate. I just cant do it. Im not even stressed. I was at the point in public school where i would just not do me work, i would just sit there and do nothing even if the teacher asked. I was right there luckily summer came and then i moved schools. Im there again and i just dont know what to do. I just cant do the work. Any tips or ideas please?

  • this gives me really helpful thoughts i nwas sick for a lot of time and a teacher says im bad at school meanwhile my real teacher says im doing good so i dont know what to think my grades are good but just i hate school of the one teacher but guys this is really great endvice hes givving about school…

  • Earlier in the school year I’ve been dealing with mental burnout, I have no idea why and where it came from but I just felt tired all the time. Whatever was going on it effected my grades and I’m terrified I’m not going to be able to go to the high school I want 🥲 I’m a lot better now but I’m definitely mad at myself

  • Im not hating school, the teacher make me . my school year have additional year in college because of 1 year late removal exam . i been chatting this teacher for almost 1 month and no reply just seen (it was on my 1st year) then in second sem of second year i need that removal because of prerequisite then he blame that i didn’t ask for ! WTF !!! I chatted u for almost 1 and half month then blame your negligence to me . Now iam second year irregular student thanks to that teacher .

  • well no one really liked me in primary since I hanged out with people that are unpopular but they are decent people and i really don’t know why people just hate them without even looking into their fucking eyes, so when secondary school it happened it was scary seeing new people and as time went along it was fine but I had got into a fight with this skinny guy (groot) because dude was annoying i pretty much almost killed him actually and i got sent home and some time later they made an Instagram account with my face making fun of me and my dad for some fucking reason and even 4 years later people still make fun of me for it and probably another reason is because I am overweight idk if that’s true or not but people just don’t want to let go of the fucking past because they have nothing better to do with their lives and I don’t know them they must be misguided and shit and one of my friends told to just ignore them but it died down or something and i feel like talking to someone who i don’t know would just make me suspicious and believe me people who i thought were nice people turned out to be real dicks i just tend to stay quiet and i thought it was just better not try and build relationships with any other person into my school because i don’t want to experience this shit again i will only talk to my friends because they might actually be the only kindest and most decent people ever (sorry for the grammar i needed to vent out i should’ve really done my HW instead).

  • Bro I’ve had the most average grades all my life and as much as I know I don’t work hard at all like I always leave things till the last second I’m always told that grades determine my future and it annoys me cause I wanna have time to go to the gym and hang out with my friends but I can’t it’s so fucking frustrating.

  • Yeah.. We just need to “live life”..Just follow your dream and that’s it 💕❤ Learning should be there to get know about the things around us..💝 but that’s not what the life is.. You are beautiful the way you are and go on! You are making it 💕 For real thank you for this article and I really like these kind of articles that let people feel the life.. & these advices are very efficient even they are short.. so keep doing this please and Thank you so much.. My dream is to be a person like you too even though if I don’t get to do what I like right now but yeah however I’m going to my dream.. 💝💕 No one can avoid you from following your dreams if you really want to go to your dream! Love yourself people 💕❤

  • Remember that if you get a bad grade. There is a way around it. Talk to your teacher, spend a few weeks at summer school. Nowadays you can still graduate even with D’s and those are not hard to get. Minimum effort gets you D’s and you still graduate. College doesn’t like that but community college doesn’t care. After 2 years of community college the real colleges start to like you!! If there is a obstacle you can always get around it

  • I have been adopting the same attitude lately. I am in my third year at university, studying and training in person-centred counselling. It is heavy going, especially for those of us who are not academic and have learning difficulties. My course leader is open that he is a strict grader. I can’t rise above 68% (upper second class). This has been frustrating, but my new attitude means I don’t even need to score 60%. It requires that I lower the bar, which has been a difficult change, but one I choose to maintain.

  • For me it’s not about the grades it’s about my anxiety. I know I can do well academically because I have done it before but because of some of my own issues I just feel anxious when I talk to literally anyone. It’s especially bad when I walk into school. I feel like i’m having a panic attack like everything is closing in on me. Like i can’t breathe properly or like the breath is being sucked out of me. Like everyone is against me and I know that sounds like I think i’m the middle of attention but that’s not it. Some of my own problems have led to me thinking this way but i’m trying my best now.

  • My classmates and schoolmates man, im in IX-th grade and they keep bullying me, today i handed a study book of romanian to my classmates, that has some space at the end for notes and my sister (30 years old), wrote a song about dad’s daughter, and they kept laughing about it, it really hurted me, i thought we were friends for life, turned out to be friends for a minute and that is just for saying hello and goodbye. I will make friends at college, I’m sure of it, and if someone goes through this type of thing again i will protect them at all costs. I hate my old friends, now i remain lonely and can’t talk to anyone but teachers, because at least they are the ones that really care about me.

  • I went into home schooling at the age of 13 due to bullying. The work was terrible and taught me nothing. I had no pressure of doing my school work since my mum was my teacher. The work was too easy because I was too lazy when I took the test to determine what grade I would be starting at. Now I’m so stressed and I want to go back to school but I know I’m so far behind. My maths is terrible and I basically suck at every subject. I want to go to school so I can properly take the exams and get a proper job instead of just finding a random one and not having a plan for my life. I’m stressed out and I really don’t know what to do. School was never my thing since I was alway good at subjects like art. I’m super gooodd at it but I know there not real potential for me as in a job.

  • I am so scared of going to school and I don’t even know why . I think I’m just really uncomfortable to be with people I don’t really talk to . It’s so horrible to the point in lying and saying that the teacher is sick and we don’t have that class and then I stay at home .. I’m trying to overcome it I’m so embarrassed 😓

  • I wish there was an international student revolution around the world because education seems like a prison that breeds much contempt, resentment and hopelessness. The education system needs an overhaul. I know your vid was done over a year ago but wanted to check it out. The ongoing problem is the pumping out grades vs. learning and experience and being forced to take electives no one really wants and much more. Worse still when you have teachers and administrators craving the need to fail students just to prove some sort of superiority or repeat those patterns that they were subjects as students.
