Can Vegan Diet Reverse Kidney Disease? Vegan Diet and Kidney Disease Reversal. These are trending topics right now in the …

Has anyone ever reversed stage 3 kidney disease?

Stage 3 kidney disease is a chronic condition that is typically uncurable and irreversible. However, with proper treatment and lifestyle changes, many people in Stage 3 do not progress to Stage 4 or Stage 5, which is kidney failure. Symptoms of Stage 3 include feeling weak and tired, swelling in the hands or feet, dry or itchy skin, lower back pain, muscle cramps, trouble sleeping, restless leg syndrome, increased or decreased urine frequency, and a foamy or darker urine color. While some people may not experience symptoms, Stage 3 kidney disease can significantly impact their health.

Can kidney disease go back to normal?

Acute kidney injury can range from mild to severe and can be fatal if untreated. However, it can also be reversed, allowing individuals in good health to resume normal kidney function. Symptoms include decreased urine output, fluid buildup, fatigue, confusion, nausea, abdominal pain, weakness, irregular heartbeat, itching, loss of appetite, chest pain, and seizures or coma in severe cases. It is crucial to address kidney injury promptly to prevent complications.

Does non veg affect kidney?

Eating too much meat can lead to acidosis, a condition where the kidneys cannot eliminate acid fast enough. A balanced diet with fruits and vegetables is essential for growth, upkeep, and repair. Consuming too many sugar-rich foods increases the risk of obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes, two leading causes of kidney disease. Avoid processed sugars like condiments, breakfast cereals, and white bread, and pay attention to ingredients when buying packaged goods.

Smoking may also negatively impact kidney health, as individuals who smoke are more likely to have protein in their urine, a sign of kidney damage. It is essential to balance your diet to prevent these health risks.

Can a damaged kidney regenerate?

Can a damaged kidney regenerate?

The kidney, an organ with low basal cellular regenerative potential, has a pronounced ability to proliferate after injury, which challenges the possibility of kidney cells regenerating under induced conditions. Most studies explain kidney regeneration either by the dedifferentiation of the mature tubular epithelium or by the presence of a resident pool of progenitor cells in the kidney tissue. However, the question remains whether cells responsible for kidney regeneration initially have progenitor properties or if they obtain a “progenitor phenotype” during dedifferentiation after an injury.

The lack of specific methods for distinguishing between dedifferentiated cells and resident progenitor cells is a major stumbling block in resolving this issue. Transgenic animals and single-cell transcriptomics could be powerful tools to solve this problem. This review examines the main mechanisms of kidney regeneration: dedifferentiation of epithelial cells and activation of progenitor cells, with special attention to potential niches of kidney progenitor cells. The complexity of renal tissue in mammals and the low rate of cell renewal make it difficult to study kidney regeneration mechanisms.

Can weak kidneys recover?

Acute kidney failure is a serious medical condition that requires immediate treatment and can often be reversed. The kidneys usually start working again within weeks to months after treatment, and dialysis is needed until then. If the kidneys fail completely, the only treatment options are dialysis for life or a transplant. Acute kidney failure often occurs in conjunction with other medical conditions, infections, or kidney-harming medicines. Other serious conditions that increase the risk include burns, dehydration, hemorrhage, injury, septic shock, and surgery.

Can you stay at stage 1 kidney disease forever?

Stage 1 kidney disease has the potential to persist for an extended period, contingent on factors such as age, sex, preexisting health conditions, and lifestyle habits. The implementation of early detection and intervention strategies has the potential to prolong life. In order to mitigate the progression of kidney damage in stage 1, it is recommended to maintain a blood pressure of 125/75 for individuals with diabetes, 125/75 for those without diabetes with proteinuria, and 130/85 for those without diabetes and without proteinuria.

Can diet improve kidney function?

Changes to your diet can help lower blood pressure, slow kidney function loss, and reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. Most people with chronic kidney disease can get all the necessary vitamins and nutrients through a healthy, well-balanced diet. However, those approaching end-stage kidney disease may need a special diet, especially if they are on dialysis. Doctors should only recommend this, and a specially trained renal dietitian can help create a tailored plan. Restrictions will vary depending on the cause and stage of kidney disease, medications, blood test results, and other conditions like diabetes.

Can kidney disease be slowed down?

Can kidney disease be slowed down?

Maintaining a healthy blood pressure can help slow the progression of kidney disease, particularly in individuals with diabetes and proteinuria. Lifestyle changes such as maintaining a healthy weight, exercising, meditating, consuming less salt and alcohol, and quitting smoking can help lower blood pressure. If you have hypertension, your doctor may prescribe blood pressure medicine to incorporate into your routine. Monitoring blood glucose levels is also crucial for slowing the progression of kidney disease.

Adopting a diabetes- and kidney-friendly diet and following your doctor’s instructions on diet, insulin, or other medications can help slow the progression of kidney disease. Talking to a nephrologist for advice on slowing the progression of CKD can help in managing these conditions.

Is being a vegetarian good for kidney disease?

Is being a vegetarian good for kidney disease?

Maintaining a healthy diet is crucial for kidney disease patients, as it provides energy, prevents infections, builds muscle, maintains a healthy weight, and prevents the disease from worsening. Vegetarianism, with careful planning and part-time eating, is safe and beneficial for kidney disease patients. A healthy diet provides the right amount of protein, a balance of sodium, potassium, phosphorus, and vitamins/minerals when needed.

For those with early kidney disease (30-50 of normal kidney function) who are not receiving dialysis treatments, it is essential to closely monitor protein intake to prevent waste buildup in the blood. Some vegetarian foods may be high in sodium, so it is recommended to use fresh foods and limit sodium intake. Consult with a doctor or dietitian for specific concerns.

Can you live 20 years with stage 3 kidney disease?

Can you live 20 years with stage 3 kidney disease?

A 2012 study found that a 40-year-old with stage 3a CKD has an average life expectancy of 24. 5 years, while a person with stage 3b CKD has an average life expectancy of 14. 5 years. Life expectancy decreases as the age at diagnosis increases. It’s important to consider the risk of disease progression, as about half of the participants in the study progressed to stages 4 or 5, which are associated with shorter life expectancies.

However, this data is over a decade old, and a 2017 study notes that while there are now better models for predicting life expectancy, a lack of recent data makes it difficult to provide accurate figures.

  • I had kidney disease and was headed for dialysis. My doctor advised me to lower my animal intake. Well how much is low enough, I thought, so that day I went Vegan. Within a year my kidneys were cured. I love to cook and I took this as an opportunity to learn new recipes and discover new ingredients. I’ve had friends say if I was cooking for them, they could be Vegans. 😃

  • I’m perusal now…been on dialysis for 15 years & on a journey to heal my kidneys with help from God. I’ve been called twice for transplants ONLY to have them fall through. Crazy, right?! The crazier thing is the Jesus has told me He will heal me. Hallelujah. I’m perusal now & interested in listening to your teaching. Also, God has me on a journey of NO animal products & ONLY what God made. REAL NON-PROCESSED FOODS. I’m excited to hear what you have to say…watching as I type! Blessings to you & your family! Today is 2.23.2023

  • just discovered this 3 year old article of yours and I just appreciate you Dr Hashmi for your prevention stance. I am a dialysis nurse for almost 12+ years and have worked with a number of “nephrons’ and I think you are just amazing . Your article has full of great information that I will certainly bring into my practice. What really caught my attention is when mentioned about sodium in dialysate bath that can be a cause of thirst for HD patients when they go home. I just believe it is about time that dialysis here in the US switch to the practice of using saline free dialysate bath; most have not even heard about it, but this is done in Canada and I believe some in Europe with a specific HD machine. Great lecture and will share this with my patients.

  • Dr. Hashmi, I beg to differ with your statement about soy products. I have been deadly allergic to soy protein since childhood 1968 around the time it was first put on the market. Consuming soy protein sends me into anaphylactic. It means high respertorial rate, severe asthma, hives, rashes, itching, stomach pumps and hospitalization. I have been reading ingrients in packaged foods since I was 8 and I’m now in my late 60s. Just because something comes from a plant or grows from the ground doesn’t mean it is good for the body. Soy protein is deadly for me. But we all know that the soy industry and its GDP impact is too big to tell the truth. In the 1990s there were independent long-term double blind large studies indicating prepubity girls can start their menses earlier than normal and young boys can develop gynecomastia. Since then the industry have funded studies to contradict these findings and flooded the medical industry and other healthcare entities with its studies in an effort to burry the independent studies. Some independent studies found that Phytoestrogens, a component of soy products, have estrogen-like properties, and in large amounts can lead to gynecomastia. One PubMed study concluded that “while soybeans and soy-derived products can be an important source of nutrition for some, those with abnormal sensitivity to phytoestrogens may benefit from limiting dietary soy consumption to avoid potential adverse effects, including gynecomastia. PMID: 33818045 DOI: 10.1515/jpem-2020-0397 or Case Reports J Pediatr Endocrinol Metab .

  • Dr. Hashmi, thanks so much for the education. I am a 70 year old male and I was diagnosed with CKD 3 months ago. My Dr. strongly advised me to immediately start a plant based diet and to eat less red meat. My GFR was 29 and after one week of diet change it bumped up to 35. I made the decision to go 90% vegetarian and eat fish a couple times a week. Ater 2 1/2 months my GFR is up to 48 and headed in the right direction. My Dr. says I am on the way to regaining lost kidney function. I dropped several pounds and feel more energetic. Thanks again and I am a firm believer in what you are saying. The proof is in the bloodwork.

  • Dr Hashmi, I sent your link to my brother with stage 3 CKD. I hope he will follow your advice. I find Filipinos have CKD conditions because their diet is based on the American diet. I am a Filipina from England. I don’t have any debilitating diseases except I have osteopenia and congenital lung (right lung only one lobe instead of three). At 79, I am muscular, very lean and have smooth skin. I cook my food from basic ingredients. Very seldom do I eat processed foods. Occasionally, I buy prepacked quiche. I avoid eating processed meats.

  • Thank you Dr. For the very informative article, it was an eye opener for me. My wife was a vegetarian and I cooked all her meals for her while I had a stake on the other burner for me. Among other things my salt intake was more than it should of been and not enough water as well. Needless to say it caught up with me, make long story short I discovered protein in my urine, so got on a high water intake.and started on a vegetarian diet and cut back big time on salt.

  • Thank you for this wonderfully informative lecture! I’ve viewed many over the past 12 years and Dr. Hashmi has clarified in understatndable terms many of the contradictory issues I’ve read and heard over time.. I feel renewed and assured as to which “facts’ I’ve been told are misleading or misinterpreted. How lucky we are to have physicians like Dr. Hashmi.

  • Appreciate the efforts, great info from your side sir Dear Dr my question is Why my eGfr goes down as i have no BP, no Diabetes, never drink alcohol, walk regularly, no cholesterol etc my weight 74 kg my height 5 feet 6 inch my age is 44 on 15 May-2024 creatinine is 1.3, eGFR 71 on 15 June -2024 Creatinine 1.22 eGFR 64.4 Thank you so much for your time, waiting for your valuable reply

  • Excellent presentation. I am going back to CWFPB maybe/maybe not depending on your input 20-22 Intermittant fasting. I was doing keto w/sunflower seeds/almond nuts/flour milk usage but found out via dr.Ken Berry BBB&egg diet they alongvw/ seed oils were higjly inflamatory. It was my switchbyo BBB&E carnavour that caused the sudden dropping of viseral fat and the sudden huge dumping of toxins. Lordy. I know because of the metabolic syndrome do not absorb vitamins and minerals nutrients from supplements. That is why when I ate meat so duddentl and a pound st that, the b & folate might have caused the huge sudden shrinking of viseral fat/cellulite and fumping toxins.

  • Thank you doctor, so glad I found your YT website. I have a few pounds to lose and confused on what diet to choose. I was in shock literally in shock when I hear I had Stage 3 kidney disease.. I have no diabetes, normal blood pressure and the doctors believe I had some auto immune disease that caused it. They found a corralation between my kidney disease and at the same time was diagnosed with Uveitis.

  • Good morning, I am on Dialysis since January 3, 2022. I am a vegetarian, normal blood pressure, no diabetes…healthy until January 2,2022 when I was Diagnosed with Kidney failure. Thank you for this information. I have learned more from you in this article than from the various Medical Professionals that have been treating me for the last 10 months.

  • I did appreciate this fantastic lecture, summarising complexe interactions in 45 minutes was not easy . I am specialised as agro biochemical engineer in foods sciences & dietetics, I am also MD, dermatology specialist, although Mediterranean diet is promoted as something universal .. it does not apply properly when it comes to subsahariann african diet and culture . It is important to understand foods is connected with culture and traditions .. so one will need to adapt his ” so called “evidence nutrition based medicine advices accordingly . Finally I wd like to highlight this crucial point : one of the biggest failure of western civilisation resides in its agro food industry .. We have privileged quantity vs quality ! Top of it nutrition is not taught to medical students … and we have the audacity to swear upon Hippocrates memory ? is hypocrisy …. & non sense ! therefore bon appétit to everybody ( subscribed ) .

  • Hi doctor, thanks for the enlightening lecture! It was truly a joy to watch. My husband was diagnosed with IGA nephropathy last year. It was discovered by chance after he did a regular health check up and higher than normal protein in the urine was discovered. It’s currently in early stages but since the diagnosis, we’ve been doing a vegan diet (abt 80% of the time) and also working on reducing sodium intake and reading labels on everything. However, because we’re asian, a lot of food is traditionally high in sodium. I noted that you mentioned that we don’t have to worry abt sodium intake if we follow a whole foods plant based diet. I was wondering if you could share a bit more about why that is and how that works! Thank you so much for your time 🙂

  • 🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 💡 Dr. Barnard highlights the importance of understanding the impact of nutrition on kidney disease, emphasizing the need for clear dietary guidance. 00:40 🔍 Patients often receive conflicting dietary advice from different sources, causing confusion, especially among those with kidney disease and diabetes. 02:13 ⚠️ Kidney disease is often asymptomatic, leading to delayed diagnoses and severe consequences, making it crucial for everyone to understand its risks. 03:22 📊 Different ethnic groups have varying levels of susceptibility to kidney disease, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions and awareness. 03:48 ⚠️ Kidney disease is a significant cause of mortality globally, with a higher death rate than breast or prostate cancer, underscoring the urgency of discussing preventive measures. 04:01 📚 Dr. Barnard emphasizes the importance of staying up-to-date with research and data, highlighting the relevance of evidence-based practices in the field of kidney disease. 05:21 🧂 Sodium intake significantly impacts blood pressure, and reducing it can lead to a substantial decrease in health risks associated with kidney disease. 06:44 💊 Restricting sodium intake alongside ACE inhibitors can contribute to a 50% reduction in proteinuria, benefiting patients with diabetic nephropathy. 12:01 🍌 Potassium intake can positively affect blood pressure, and organic sources such as fruits and vegetables are recommended for their health benefits.

  • My 14-year-old Siamese cat was stage 4 kidney failure. I took her off commercial cat food with carbohydrates in it and put her on a strict meat diet. I gave her daily fluids subcutaneously and she lived to 21 and 1/2 years. 7 years longer than her prognosis. We retested her kidneys every year and she actually went to stage two after 2 years and stayed that way until her final year. My other cat got diagnosed stage 2 kidney last year and I put him on subcutaneous fluids and his kidney condition went completely remission. I think it’s the fluids. Chronic dehydration. My ex-wife is a vegan. She was tired and sick all the time and had to get an ankle replacement at 42. I tried to be a vegan with her but it was making me feel crappy. She also struggled with weight and was hungry all the time. Recently I switched to a carnivore diet where I eat nothing but meat, fat, salt and water. When I stick with it I feel amazing but when I add add chocolate or any kind of sugar or fruit. I start to crave sweets and I have sugar crashes. It takes me a few days to get back on the program and when I do and I get into ketosis I feel so amazing and I’m never hungry.

  • I was diagnosed of polycystic kidney and protien in the urine 2 months ago…i had maintainace for my kidney problem and for my LDL cholesterol….i totally changed my lifestyle, eat a lot of fruits and vegies high in antioxidants,do some exercise like walking because i’m 71y.o. and by God’s mercies after fighting for my ailment 41 days my lab results were amazing…thankful because i’m not high blood and not diabetic…

  • I have just experienced my first episode of AKI, shortly after I went back to a mostly vegetarian diet after 15 years of eating meat (nutritionist and Doctor ordered me to return to meat). I have always had a high soy consumption, don’t eat a lot of sweets or salt, high fibre, unprocessed foods; other risk factors are also low. I’m utterly baffled. I will continue a low meat diet and lower sugar and salt and hope for the best with care from my nephron 😅 Thanks for posting

  • Thank you for this very informative presentation. As a nurse I dealt with occassional dialysis patients at the VA in Portland, Oregon. But 6 months ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. Now I’m very concerned with having quality of life. I am eating very little red meat mostly chicken, salmon and tilapia. I do fruit and vegetable smoothies with no added sugar. But never tried tofu. Can you make any other recommendations? Love your closing remarks.🎉

  • Salt isn’t the culprit—it’s in fact essential to keep you hydrated as it’s an electrolyte. Excessive consumption of carbs is—especially the heavily-processed ones. We have a complex body yet with a simple logic on how it works. Think body as your house and food as your construction materials. You build your house with poor quality materials, certainly, you’ll get by. Over time though, you’ll need to do a lot of repair. So why really, would we want that? The only reason why we’re in this endless medication pit is because we’re not getting rid of the main cause, because we’d rather mask it temporarily with medication—only because we’re bluffed by the SCIENCE that majority of quote unquote experts we’re taught and led us to believe or perhaps to protect pharmaceutical companies and hospitals? You decide. You can always start anew. Focus on fatty meat, eggs and fats from natural, non-processed sources. Why? Simply because they’re natural, highly nutritious and is right about what your body needs to FEEL AWESOME! P.S. I’m not against eating carbs completely. If you have to eat them, please keep the junk to a bare minimum (absolute zero to minimal nutrition, highly processed and high sugar sources). Be mindful. Less carbs = less inflammation. Less inflammation = less damage. More nutritious essential fats + moderate essential proteins = optimal health long-term.

  • Just one thing though doctor. As it was a bolt out of the blue my GFR 69 range on a random blood test so I have another one next week so I have not had it confirmed if I have kidney disease which I hope not! But do I have to stop taking any vitamins and magnesium citrate? I take vitamin C, D and omega 3 every morning as well as fibre supplements with a high Fibre plant diet. Even though I have not had any diagnosis are there any of the above I need to stop taking whilst trying to heal my kidneys with a plant diet. You are gold! Thank you! For everything and everyone who commented that they have driven up their GFR with plant based and salt decrease. Amazing and may your journey to continue to reverse bless you with golden results. God bless you all

  • Thank you. For half a century I have been plagued with intermittent kidney stones (Oxalate stones), which have worsened with age. A vegetarian for 22 years I only very rarely eat fish. I eat a plant based non gluten diet; Quorn (tofu), Avocados, berries, bananas, non-dairy coconut yoghurt (no cheese also), brown rice and sometimes a non gluten coconut based sauce. I drink filtered water and neat lemon juice (fresh) to help weaken the kidney stones and a lot of water. I drink mostly herbal teas and this occasional weak cappuccino with oat milk, as well as a barley based hot drink. I don’t drink alcohol. Foods are very low in salt and I don’t additionally salt foods either. Garlic, ginger, tumeri and herbs are added to sauce based foods I don’t eat bread and only gluten free cereals and biscuits. Sugar and carbs have sometimes caused cravings, weight gain, acid and inflammation in the gut.identifying one.main cause for inflammation but I am unable to confirm that gut inflammation only occurs from consuming sugar because it hsppens at random from time to time. .I am convinced that gut inflammation and kidney stones are related because they occur intermittently. So, having cut down salt and protein, and cut out prepacked foods also, what is causing the stones? Urologists tell us three principal imports: 2 5 to 3 litres of water per day, low salt and protein. What more can I do to prevent these stones from forming, and the ecruitiating treatments and risks from Lithotripsy and Surgery to temove them?

  • Thank you doctor for this brilliant lecture. I want to ask you a question. My father has been taking amlodipine 5mg from last 2 years. He had AKI 4 months back which got normal after taking antibiotics. But recently due to his bit High creatinine level which was 1.3 I told him to not take salt anymore in his diet and his BP has improved since then. It is mostly 120/85 around, sometimes even lower than this. Should he continue taking high BP medicine even when his BP is completely normal ?

  • Hi doctor. Thank you for this. I got proteinuria and blood leaking. Doctors told me to come back when its worse…… like wtf. So i did my own research and now im eating less protein. Its hard but im trying, i almost stopped eating red meat. Just mostly chicken and fish, and sometimes fake meats from tofu. Its so expensive to eat healthy. But i dont want to be on dialysis. My aunt died last eyar from kidney failure. She was choking on your own fluid in her lungs. Im 38 and i want to be able to see my son grow up. I’ve just started taking losartan and statin because my ldl and triglyceride and gout is high. Everything else is good and no high BP. I hope i get better with losartan and it ddorsnt worsen my kidneys. Before losartan i took another ace for 1 months but no change in proteinuria. When i told doctors in my country if i should switch to low protein diet they all said no. Eat more protein because you’re losing protein!!! Wtf, it is the opposite of western doctors advices!! Its like they want us to go on dialysis and die!! I cant trust doctors in my country, so im just eyeballing things ! Even for taking arb was my idea when i went to the doctors. They didnt even recommend me taking anything.

  • Very informative lecture… Thank you. I only have one suggestion for you medical people about soy… You recommend soy protein… That is a big mistake. So has been disbarred a long time ago. I will only provide you with the title of one work by an Australian nutritionist called “is the attack of the killer bean quote, and her name is Elaine Hollingsworth, once you read this 20 something page article, you will realize that you will never recommend soy protein or soy for anything at all. But apart from that, thank you for dismantling the truth about animal protein, because so many nutritionist today and keto promoters are pushing meat and it annoys me because they don’t care. They always say grass fed meat and all that it doesn’t matter. Meat is meat and it has bad effect on the body despite the fact that some people I just blind for this truth.

  • I am 58 years now and : NOW I hear the truths about all. I am listening to the info like 3 times and I bow down and have big RESPECT for Our HOLY HEAVENLY FATHER GOD JAHWÈH who took His PRECIOUS time to create You Sir . Thanks for sharing this AMAZINGLY IMPRESSIVE EXCELLENT SUPER DUUUPER article with normal words so EVEN a humble person like me can understand it. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I wish for You and your LOVELY PRECIOUS WIFE 🏆🏆🏆🏆to receive LONGEVITY IN GOOD HEALTH from Our CREATOR. 2022 Oktober.

  • I followed a whole foods diet that included grains and plant foods. I felt terrible. I had constant sinus infections, kidney/bladder infections and felt so fatigued. A low protein diet made me feel awful. I’ve gone back to carnivore with green vegetables and I feel wonderful with no infections and lots of energy. I believe everyone is different and one method doesn’t fit all. Find yours, listen to your body and get health checks along the way.

  • Persons of predominantly African origin have a higher rate of kidney disease because fast foods and less nutritious foods are found in these areas, more than found in other ethnic group areas. I was discussing it with a colleague who agrees that most fast-food restaurants with their factory-bred meats and other dyed products are causing significant harm to this ethnic group.

  • It is super, super sad that people in nursing homes still continue to receive meats and sweets in their diets. I have been in two nursing homes so far. I ate what they served and my health got worse. The doctors don’t suggest changing the diet, so I have had to research. I found that eating the fiber of veggies and fruits is the way to health. It has been hard dropping the eggs and hot cereal I am served every morning. They are resisting me when I ask for veggies and fruits only, so I have to buy my own, even though I only receive $60 a month to do that.

  • Thank you for your lecture! I have a question – my mom has overweight but also has heart failure, podagra and was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (2nd stage). Due to her diseases she can’t eat certain things (tomatoes, beans, lentils, etc) and her water intake is limited. Is there anything you could recommend to eat and what absolutely to avoid? I understand that salt should be reduced to minimum. Thank you!

  • since I remember I always had these type of problems because I used to get pain on my knees all the time when I was younger always had pain in my knees my niece will hurt real bad they would say oh you growing up is no problem that’s the growing but they continually continue having these episodes through all my life then all of a sudden all these other type of things little by little study showing so I need to start investigating more like into those kids that say they get pain in their knees that they always having pains in their legs you need to keep in track of those kids that always say I got pain in my knee so my ankle my my feet yeah I got to keep in track of those people cuz that’s got to be an issue probably that starting an issue that’s going to get through many years later on it’s going to get even worse or is going to get to the point cuz I remember having those type of issues when those type of pain in my knees and they were saying I was growing and I only just grow to 5 ft and for something and it was if it would have been that would have been like 7 or 8 ft taller already probably so basically no Johnny to pay a little more attention to those people that tells you their knees are hurting their legs are hurting because it could be an issue with their feet which I was supposed to use special shoes when the doctor had recommended when I was little and they never did because I have some problems with the foreign on my leg and everything else and they never attended because you know they was not at that time they didn’t have enough money at that time so I had a Bible with whatever was the cover about just regular normal boots those old white boots that they will put on the little kids to to this fix their leg or their feet but Daddy had the right equipment which include some type of metal bars that goes into your niece and stuff like that so if they wouldn’t I the metal feet the bars it was just to connect to your knees to keep your legs straight and with the shoes when you’re walking to help you some type of equipment that I was supposed to use when I was younger a little girl a little kid it was his back and when I was younger so it should be I don’t know somewhere in the records when I was little so anyways back to that yeah I got to keep in mind that whenever a kid tell you they have pains of their legs and they need check them take them to the doctor and even if they tell you it’s because they’re growing tell the doctor to keep an eye on it because you you know there’s other people that later on and they’re getting older they start showing problems with their legs

  • Inspiration lecture, I was diagnosed with the early stages of kidney disease and immediately I went into depression for a few days, feeling empty however I got myself together and fast for a few days almost over night I stop all meats and dairy products and any carbs over 6 grams rose my bike and I feel like I have a new life.

  • What a wonderful lecture, so much helpful information! Q: I was born with a bilateral ureteral reflux that was corrected at 3 months of age, but has caused damage to my kidneys. I have protein in my urine and my nephrologist prescribed Lisinopril 2.5mgs. I take my blood pressure every day and am only supposed to take the meds if it’s over 110. But my systolic blood pressure is always low at 110-112. How can I help my proteinuria if my blood pressure is low and I can’t take the meds? Thank you!

  • Dr will this diet help slow down Alpert’s syndrome? My dad died after a Kidney transplant in 1971. His brother had two transplants that lasted over 30 years. My son just had his kidney transplant last year. All of us girls from our fathers that had Alpert’s have it. We are all doing fairly well. My last GRF was 80 and creatinine and BUN was still good. Would this diet help us girls slow down CKD from Alpert’s also? Thanks for your reply. Im all in if you say it works also for Alpert’s.

  • Hello Sean Hashmi MD and first I want to thank you for this comprehensive article. Now, I have suffered from kidney stones for almost 20 years, my right kidney mostly keeps producing them, around 3 up to 6 mm, so far managing to eliminate them every time. I went to doctors and had so many tests, but the bottom line, none of them could tell me why this is happening. I drink water, not too much but as I go thirsty, I don’t consume too much meat, once or twice a week, eat veggies and I don’t consume processed food, I prefer home cooking. Is there anything I could do or check to discover why this keeps happening to me, to prevent or at least reduce the stress on my kidney and help function better? Thank you.

  • I love the vegan propaganda. ” gut bacteria makes choline/carnitine into TMAO ” and “saturated fats, bad ” . Well, actually if you don’t have dysbiosis all those things are quite healthy for you. Choline is extremely importanta for health, carnitine helps burn fat etc etc. That’s how so many people on carnivore diet are healthy.

  • Kidney disease has a lot of treatments today. Even stage 5 can improve today with kidney disease. I was in stage 4 Now i’m in stage 2. I have followed the website of Katherine kidney and had great improvement in my kidney function drastically and lower in my creatinine levels thanks also to the very low protein diet and acacia fiber treatment. Low sodium and plant based.

  • I NEED HELP!! Please. You are saying plant based and Dr Ken Barry and others are saying keto. You both care about your patients. You both studied a lot of literature. Will you guys please do a podcast together and talk so we aren’t so confused by two professionals saying completely different words? I don’t want to end up dying early. Will you please help me?

  • I have been a dialysis nurse for 33 years. I have never had a single patient, on a whole food, plant based diet go into renal failure. Every one of them, without failure, follows the high animal product, processed junk, low plant food SAD. Including a diabetic nephew who “did keto”,including tomahawk steaks, eggs, dairy but no “carbs”because he was told it would lower his hemoglobin A1C. It did. It also destroyed his kidneys, and he’s now on dialysis.

  • Your presentation is the best summary I found on Internet yet (I read several studies in depth). And you were funny 🙂 Thank you very much. Me and 3 friends 30yo trying to eat really healthy and working out (protein shakes) just got our eGFR. All Stage 2+ CKD. Totally crazy how everyone test has kidney disease.

  • Good day Doctor, yesterday my urine shower 1+ protein. I have been eating more fried salmon, beef liver and yes at least 2 or 3 eggs a day. Before my test I ate a huge banana. Can this affect the protein in urine? I do occassionally make my own plant based drinks using kale, spinach, celery, carrots, apples, blackberries and strawberries. I drink it 3 days every 2 weeks. I don’t eat red meat except occassional liver. Chicken breast fillets is my other main meal I use avacado oil and or extra virgin olive oil. I have hypertension of 124/89 and heart rate that increases to 101. I have had a heart scan and results were normal. Chest x-ray and vq scans also normal. What can I do about my urine and bp? I’m desperate and my health is depressing me immensely

  • I don’t have kidney disease they said I could get kidney disease but I don’t have it yet and because of the cholesterol and all the blood circulation and all that stuff it could damage so not yet so basically they treated me for me not to get any of those things and they giving me medications that will control my circulation and my veins and the vein thrombosis basically that’s what’s happening right now so they taking care of that but that doesn’t mean I got the kidney disease I don’t have it yet because they check all the time so they just checking and trying to to keep in track of everything on my veins and my legs and the blood circulation and all that in my heart and everything else that goes with it people just put it like that’s some type of disease contagious or something like that it’s not contagious it’s not something that that somebody gave you is just you generically probably hydrated from family members and jeans related is a type of different thing okay so or either accidents that happens that you have some vein problems with your accidents or something like that song stuff like that that happens and people different type of people get this type of problems just because they have some type of accidents or stuff like that or either they basically headerated from family

  • Thank you for doing this lecture.. I was recently diagnosed with having Proteinuria (small amount) but my GFR went from 58%,51%, 37%,47% and now back up from what my primary doctor stated last week,60%…I am also an diabetic but has always managed to keep my diabetes well under control. I was taking Losartan hctz 100mg and my new primary doctor think this was the issue with my kidneys. I too have switched over to plant-based diet and since I definitely feel so much better but my sleep pattern is very crazy though.

  • Dr what about supplements, and he did not address the most important issue, our foods are GMO, plus scientists have discovered they can remove all 68 minerals and trace minerals to grow more foods and replace only three NPK so they sacrifice nutritional value for yield, so what must we do with this, surely you see it’s the foods we are eating with lack of nutritional value that’s is causing the diseases . Not all protein powder are made the same . Dr what about the fruits where are the seeds. He did not address GMO, IT GENETICALLY MODIFY it means our blood cells don’t recognised the foods we eat, it has no nutritional value, God gave us smart blood cells they are starving, life is in the blood, That why diseases are rampant. I wonder if he is employed by Monsanto ? He supports GMO, he make it look like it nothing we will die any way, life is a gift . And 2nd commandment love your neighbour as you love your self . He has been paid to mislead people . God gave us smart blood cells to recognise the food we eat, they are starving. That’s our immune system, our DNA is in our blood cells, they stave we die, Here is where science meets God, and God said, I gave you seed bearing plant seed bearing fruit and green leaves and it’s good for you .Genesis 1:29-30 where are the seeds In grapes, orange, grapefruits, satsumas, lemons and limes all high in antioxidants, to nourish, protect and regenerate new blood cells. That’s our immune system they are messing with. Now the humble avocado, some no seeds!

  • Thank you for this very enlightening discussion. I am planning to suggest to my doctor plant-based diet. I may also want to see a hematologist as i was previously tested to be g6pd deficient. That poses problem taking in plant-based protein. Any insights you may share for g6pd defficients? Thank you!

  • well I could get kidney disease they were so basically they say I don’t have it yet but it’s working to get today that basically my body because of the problems of the circulation of the blood so yes so basically yeah they say yeah because of the vein circulation thrombussy I don’t know if they qualified that’s a kidney disease but basically yeah because of the circulation and stuff they perusal my kidneys not to get the disease so yeah I’ll get sick

  • Doctor. I have no high blood pressure, not diabetes, I have no symptoms. I am a skinny person. I am 79. I first test was 1- I got back take a blood test. at 3-now I got anxiety. I’ll die before dialysis. Is there medicine or diet to go by. One said no sugar, salt, sodium, and all ibuprofen, Motrin, cheap aspirin, Motrin, Aleve arthritis, what am to do ? is live on water. I lost my husband, my dad and all my family. Is there a diet. ? Please I need help, I’m alone here afraid. The doctor said got off acemphine, it would go down when I come back. I cracked my vertebrae, I assume I over the pills with acemphine. Thank you.

  • This is all so new to me. I had an appointment found out I have stage 2 chronic kidney disease haven’t heard anything else from my Dr about it shoot she actually isn’t the one who told me. I am having to do research on my own but I am finding so many conflicting answers. I have no idea where am I supposed to start. I can’t even get a hold of mg Dr to ask

  • Wow, this is amazingly amazing. Iam a nurse and diabetic from Nigeria. I dread kidney problem the most among known complications of diabetes knowing all the stress that is involved. Your lecture have opened my eyes to the teaching we give to our patients and we recieve from our clinicians as patients. I understand better now. Thanks alot.

  • Another question…is using all plant based whole foods in soup a good choice or are the best nutrients cooked out ? Also, does your dear wife recommend spicing best for stage 4 soup making. I hope she is doing well…lupus is tough ! You are my most important help…thank you soooo much ! You are an amazing man helping so many ! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

  • There is different gmo, and when we dont want soy protein is because of the chemicals in them. That gmo. Of course the doctor mentions only the other gmo. The inbreeding of plants to make them bigger, tastier and more appealing. There should be 2 labels for gmo. Regular alterated products and monsanto alterated products.

  • Hi I’m 62, just found out I have CKD, mild to moderate, I just had a letter saying we just need to do blood tests to monitor me, didn’t say how often. I automatically thought of going on a vegetarian diet and searched the internet for for do,s and don’ts, I feel quite alone and worried about food, your article was helpful, just wish I knew what to expect I guess.

  • and they start showing pain with their legs and and they start showing kidney problems and blood circulation problem which is the same I think it runs into the same things all together because it’s just with the Kings and you’re you got your kidneys on your ways right or whatever part is in your body because I’m not a doctor so you got it and your body with you connect that’s one of the main part of your blood circulation and your heart all those things are very major important parts in your body that should keep working for you to stay alive right those are the models that’s like like the the heart of the car is the model and then the transmission is the one that keeps the motor working too so all these part has to continually keep moving and working for your body to stay alive right and for the car to stay alive and he’s all these component to it to keep running right so the same thing is just everything is the same thing through the same thing yeah so that’s why I understand that if something goes wrong in your body the other things could go wrong too if you don’t take care of it

  • of course you could do preps and survive out of pretz but not everybody likes the prince and not everybody is the same fool so basically is is some type of issue with the taste with the people that live in your home or are with you they don’t eat the same thing and they don’t know how to pray or not everybody knows how to prep so okay you prep let’s say you buy food for yourself and prep it and you eat out of it but also that runs out too so you buy for other people but at the same time you’re buying for yourself it’s not enough whatever you get is not enough sometimes so basically yeah it’s healthy it keeps you alive but is not enough sometimes it’s not enough and I’m talking about completely enough in general like fool completely for the whole the whole entire people to live off and not everybody likes it so you will have some type of issue basically living with someone or some people that don’t agree to eat healthy and the way that is share

  • Hi Doc,Thanks for sharing your research. Have a question on hb and iron absorption, What is the hb levels in healthy normal senior citizen above 60 that you have seen? Shouldnt it be reducing with age. If so what is a adequate sustainable number. My mom, 62,CKD 5, hb of 6.5. her tibc values are 215. Is there any natural ways to improve the iron absorption of should she continue on just started iron injection. 2.I have heard that phosphorous and calcium are inversely related. She is taking a 500mg calcium everyday. Any symptoms when we know that is too much calcium in tissues ?

  • they they tell you to go on diets and use all these dietary but basically if you go to see the food is so expensive and and top of that these things you got to be constantly eating fresh basically vegetables you got to keep them fresh they don’t last a whole month and your you won’t have a whole month of fresh food in your refrigerator so you have to come anyways depend on these other cheaper products where it’s going to cost some health issues to you regardless because they don’t give you enough for you to survive so you got to keep constantly or either you live with certain amount people in your home and they don’t like what chewing or that you can make a portion separate from them because it’s more money that you wasting on all this when you live in where other people and you have to break down food because you can’t eat what they eat or they don’t like what you eat so basically is is a problem and all that type of behavior with the the food being more expensive and with the people not eating the same things as you eat and then has to buy extra or more and you don’t have enough for extra or more or whatever although people do not like to eat the same thing as you so there’s a problem always with that type of behavior in the home sometimes and they don’t know how to cook something separately for that person because that person needs particularly special food different type of food than what they could eat regularly

  • I have learned so much from you about my CKD than my doctor who tells me i can eat anything I want, with stage 3 kidney disease. I have been having protein in my urine for over 25 yrs and was told that’s normal. I found out that something was wrong with my kidney when i went to the emergency room recently and they did labs. I went back to my primary care doctor and I told him what the ER doctor said. And to my surprise he said to me you have CKD. That was the first time he said anything like that to me since i have been seeing him over 5 years. What in the world?? I have CKD and now at stage 3 and just now he is telling me. I went home started doing my own research and stumbled on this doctor who has opened my eyes to CKD. I’m 66 and on a new journey of educating myself on CKD. I am “trying” a plant base diet, only eating fish, not shellfish and I pray that this will work. Thanks Doc!! 🙏🏾💕

  • Wow! I have been a Kidney patient over 20 years. I did have a Transplant in 2010. But, Unfortunately after 7 years, the new Kidney contracted virus and I had to go back on dialysis. I did peritoneal for over 7 years & hemodialysis 14 years. In all of my years. I’ve NEVER had anyone to take the time break down and entire issues with Kidney problems. Yes, I’ve had great doctors. I have experienced a lot of the issues that you had discussed in this article. Throw them in very rough and through the grace of God I am still here today. Which God has blessed me with some wonderful doctors, surgeon, nurses and staff. Such, I have hear pieces here and there. Perhaps, If people heard your seminar it would help to change things. I go to hemodialysis clinic 3x a week and I will be sharing this article with my Nephrologist, Cardiologist, GP, nurses, surgeons and other patients. You can imagine I have a Rolodex of doctors 😉. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with the public.

  • Thank you for this information. I am a CKD patient for a long time on HD. Transplanted once and had a run of 17 years before it failed so back to HD again. Once I heard about PD and it’s pros and cons, I immediately switched to PD. My question is, how effective is daily PD treatment cleaning in comparison to 3xweek HD considering that modality is different where HD is cleaning the blood directly while PD is indirect thru osmosis similar to the kidney urine?

  • that that is why when you have a kid you always got to control everything to eat should be healthy everything since you have a kid teach them to eat healthy vegetables only and stuff like that that the right thing the right way keep on to eat vegetables and the most because is eating healthy you know even if it’s expensive because basically it is expensive buying all the time fresh things to eat and and they go bad real quick but you got to know how to learn how to prep but that’s another thing make sure whatever you using to pray is going to not going to harm you in the long way neither because that can harm you too the liquid or whatever you using to keep that thing not going back so if it is sodium or whatever you using to keep it it could cost damage to you too because too much sodium or too much this or too much that it could harm you too so it is a lot of trick to everything that you you seem to keep healthy your body is a lot of things that you just got to control and into everything you do

  • Very true. I started intermittent fasting the past 5 months. My arthritis improved dramatically, my overall health is satisfactory. The only thing is that I became thin losing body fat and that bothered me. I was on low animal protein before fasting feeding on lot of green and fruit and tempeh and tofu mushrooms…..I switched to Keto food thinking that may help to regain some weight. I did regain a couple pounds, but starting to notice foam in urine for several weeks. I reduced animal protein and back to drink and eat soy, eating more green, going back to my diet as before. My urine became clear and no foam. I stick with my regular diet as eating green mushrooms ànd fruit, soy protein as before. It was a mistake with a price for it. Thank you. You confirmed my doubt on animal protein intake and salt restriction. Thank you!

  • because you could cut a lot of things in your home and a lot of things that are not good for your health but what about other people don’t agree to what you eating because they do not like it or they don’t want to eat it but they causing her to their self but they don’t know it but they they young they can still eat it because they don’t got no help issue yet or they won’t have it and they don’t agree to your dietary or your your type of food which is very healthy but they don’t like it so and top of that it’s like some people are moms and they still young and they have to do these type of things but they have family members that don’t eat those type of things and they don’t want they can’t eat the same food or they don’t like the same food that is healthy because and then the budges not enough for the whole family to feed sometimes so basically yeah you have to buy buy whatever you could even if it’s including sacrificing yourself for

  • Doc it was an a awesome talk. I have CKD stage 4 -5. I am 62 yr old. My phosphorus is 4.8. Creatinine is 3. Na and K normal values. GFR is 16 . BP normal, non diabetic. My nephrologist recommends low protein diet. All white bread, no whole grains, no nuts or legumes. I love whole wheat bread and legumes. Please advice . Waiting to hear back.

  • Sir can I ask you a question? My creatinine level is 105 umol/L and my urine is foamy like a beer especially in the morning these last three days that it takes me multiple flushes to make the foam or bubbles go away. Can a vegan diet lower my creatinine levels and make me healthier? Because I am afraid that I’m gonna develop ckd in the long run.

  • Hello Dr! I found this super interesting so thank you! I’ve recently been diagnosed with Iga Nephropathy, stage 3 CKD, not sure on my urine protein but there was a fair amount and some blood, also high BP (the reason I was admitted) but that’s come down with Ace ramipril and also a beta blocker labetalol, also take lercadipine. What advice would you have for me? I’m only 34 I don’t want to have dialysis or a transplant and I’m scared of the cardiovascular risks. Thank you so much

  • Thank you for the information. I have stage 3 kidney disease, and I would like to slow it. When you say plant base diet, can you tell me what that consists of. What whole grains should I be eating and what plant based foods should I be eating. Can you also tell me in terms of salt how much, if at all, I can consume daily. Thank you.

  • Hi dr. perusal this article was great.. My child is 5yeara old she has been suffering from nephrotic syndrome since she was 18months old.. It relapses frequently she is under mycofenolate since 20months but not getting better with it… She takes 2egg whites and 300ml of cow milk as a diet to maintain her albumin level.. What kind of vegan diet could be best for her to nutrition and get rid of protein loss in urine please help me

  • Hey doc, Thank you so so much for this, just have two questions regarding my health, I am 35 year old, have 3 tiny calculi in my right kidney and having protein in urine 12 mg/dl, my nephrologist said no medication required for now just stay in follow up, he even not suggested any diet regarding anything, any suggestions if you have, please

  • that goes that goes because since you were little you be teached to eat these type of food right because of the economy or whatever and that’s what is cheaper for bigger family or whatever and then when the ass they grow and you trying to change into healthy some people do not it’s not used to the same fool as being healthy eating and they tend not to like what you eat or they don’t want to eat what you is healthy for you because of your problem or whatever and they just then you have to you know comply with everybody and how you do that you have to base yourself to cook in a way that everybody gets used to and and they could taste good and they could get them to eat the same thing as you so basically what you do when you have a baby start feeding them healthy stuff like that they get used to eating that type of healthy food and then and the long way when you grow older and your kid is a teen you don’t have these type of problems with yourself too to change into healthy because you older and you got some type of problem and your kid do not want to eat the healthy food because don’t like healthy food or something they don’t like and you have to change it you know into whatever healthiness they can eat and top of that you used to already of eating with flavors or all these type of stuff that we we normally use to put in the food that is kind of weird for the person too to change even for an adult to change into healthiness we get used to it but then again you got those young ones that don’t get used to it and they don’t like it

  • I reversed ckd 4 by only eating Grassfed-finished red meat, organs and egg yolks. Drinking a gallon of water with a full spoon of pink salt. When I changed to this nutrition, the HBP, the water retention, the fatigue, nausea and all the symptoms disappear gradually till I was healed. Leaving all veggies, grains, seeds, vegetable oil including olive and avocado oil too, has been the best thing I’d ever done. Never checked calorie intake. I supplemented myself optimally. Fish oil, vitamin D3,k2 (mkt7), NAC,b complex, zinc, coq10, magnesium Ithreonate at night

  • – how many of the cited studies about red meat consumption and the downstream effects that result in higher CKD risk are of people eating an elimination diet of only/mostly red meat and of people eating the “sad” diet, which is high in red meat, ground beef, ect. Are the negative effects on kidney health being observed due specifically to red meat consumption or are there complicating factors? – What advice would you give to someone who can’t practically subsist on a plant based diet? Many people experience auto-immune disorders that are greatly exasperated by plant consumption, not to mention the vast reduction in calories and general nutrient intake since most plants, as you stated, don’t have readily available nutrients and thus far less of a plant’s macro nutrients and vitamins/minerals are even absorbed. Countless people who subsist on mostly plant or only plant based food experience a variety of health issues like vitamin b12 deficiencies, extreme fatigue and brain fog, ect. – Would you also not agree the most healthy diet for a person is heavily determined by their genetics? Eating foods similar to what your evolutionary ancestors ate is more likely to be food you individually are more optimized to eat. Similar to the many isolated tribal groups all around the world that have been observed eating both high carb or high protein diets that are limited in variety and scope having virtually none of the various “diseases of civilization”, i.e. diabetes, heart disease, ckd, alzheimers, and many cancers.

  • I noticed that African-American is on every high disease in the united state of America. Can you guys please elaborate because this don’t make no sense that we are on the highest chain of disease, sickness, infection, and more why because doctors were not studied to know the history on African-American. Therefore, there is a history on European studies and doctorate when you go to school.

  • I just wonder if bone broth from chicken, chicken broth that is diluted with much water with veggies is okay. Some sites suggest that chicken broth is okay, and bone broth may be okay of homemade. That some of the store bought products have additional salt and potassium. Sometimes I like to eat chicken broth or egg drop soup, and it looks like egg drop soup is not okay. I like these soups sometimes in the winter.

  • Preventing diabetes more important to me, eat real food including meat, my take away, Healthy organic veggies not high in sugar, skip grains as lowering sugars for me, eat some red meat grass fed, if blood pressure perfect don’t worry, if not overweight don’t worry if exercise is your thing already don’t worry, salt to taste whole foods, do not eat processed food loaded in salt and cooked in veg oil don’t stress, if eating this way and not overweight kidneys will be fine ( I think ) if the kidneys was the only organ that maters you certainly understand what they prefer, so many health articles it’s difficult to find what one is best to do, What does you harm is not what you don’t know it’s what you think for sure That just ain’t so Mark Twain

  • I have listened to many physicians to include cardiologist and other doctors who treat obesity patients. In their observations and recommendations, they recommend or indicate that eating meat products with saturated fat is good for you. I noticed that when you were talking about studies with high saturated fat you also included in that statement of high sugar. My question is, high saturated fat by itself without carbohydrates, is it a problem for your kidneys? There is much out there that contradict your recommendations and theirs. It would be nice to get information that would balance what both of you are saying. I guess the one observation I made is that carbohydrates, and cooking with Polly unsaturated and the consumption of trans fats are bad. It would be beneficial for clarification of saturated fat without sugar consumption.

  • Thyroid medication has not changed at all The same medication but different amounts? Why not figure out why they are sick first! I was born with my kidneys in my hips pelvis. And they are wrapped around my aortic brachial region. I was not told after 100s of MRIs and Robic surgery which I believe was the day my kidneys got nicked. Yep! Be your own advocate.

  • When you say our ancestors ancestors having European ancestry‘s or African dissent ancestries because it’s two different things and when you’re being a spoiled person and you say our ancestors, the definition once again, is focusing on the American European diet system we need someone that’s going to focus on both so when you’re doing your research, sir, and I I appreciate everything that you have said, I listen to everything that she was said I’m going to need you to start breaking down to definition of how this is really going because they do not study African-American health

  • ❤thanks for sharing great information because I have protein in my urine I’m very worried about and I’m diabetic too I’m suffering with borne density osteoporosis please 🙏 give me some tips what to do about my problem my doctor 👩‍⚕️ didn’t say anything about diet to i take I’m learning frome your articles thanks 🙏 to sharing your helpful information stay blessed 😇 sir ❤

  • That is demonic to say that AAs have a higher risk. The devil is a liar and may those word curses fall to the ground in Jesus’ name. There is always something evil that you have to say about bl@cks and it is as if doctors and the medical world are programed in their training to assert the worse about AAs. It is not a race situation, but a lifestyle issue.

  • @selfprinciple my dad is at CKD Stage 5 and was hospitalised due to severe anemia and breathing problems. The doctors recommended dialysis to get him out of ICU in addition to blood transfusion. We started dialysis, thankfully he is back home but doctor has recommended twice a week dialysis. His eGfr is 5%. We are in general vegetarian, can my dad get off dialysis by following a strict plan based diet? Root cause of CKD was hypertension.

  • Hello, would it be possible to improve kidney function from Stage 5 CKD (3%) and perhaps limit or halt dialysis following chronic vasculitis, with a strict diet and active lifestyle regime for a person just under 40 who was otherwise healthy and within the correct weight range before CKD was diagnosed?

  • One important question was raised about water drinking, the essential element for life. Everybody must drink an adequate amount of water, the recommended adult amounts being around two Litters (64 ounces), because, water is required for easy blood flow to all organs, carrying nutrients, oxygen and hormones and bile, etc. produced in the body’s glands; KIDNEY washouts and clearance of the metabolic end products; for bowels movement and preventing constipation, and washing out through the kidneys all excess calcium, phosphorus, and oxalate contained in most of the green leafy vegebte les thus preventing renal stone formation. Of course drinking a gallon of water a day will cause water toxicity, headache and swelling, and even heart failure.

  • 12:00 Potassium, eat green, have a banana, lower blood pressure. Low protein diet (.6 ) grams of protein per day. Source of protein? Whole grain (white rice, cook, keep in fridge b4 eating) the carb sugar does not absorb. Dont obsess over protein. A little serving of red meat, but choose vegetables sources. Red meat is high in Carnitine, whicj causes kidneys to fail quicker. GFR gets better – Limit sugar, sodium, flour. Increase fiber consume to 60 grams.

  • I have stage 2 CKD, am going to go on a low protein plant based diet now(not been a big eater of animal protein anyway), but no way will I have soy(27.20) because in my family the women develop estrogen sensitive reproductive cancers. Soy also makes me have hot flashes(still, and I am post meno), and makes my BP go up.

  • Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil. Pray to be saved from hell (whatever that may be). Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don’t wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better. And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊 Or just be my friend if you don’t want to say the prayer 😄 I’m trying to help you get right with the LORD🙏 Amen. You should prostrate yourself if you don’t want to do spoken prayer, or do both☺🙏 Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol.

  • I had toxaemia about 32 years ago. My question is my renal tests are normal except for renal conservation of calcium. This has now normalised after being encouraged to eat yoghurt, cheese, nuts. I consume nuts every day and pure pomegranate juice high in potassium and green banana . Is this bad? Also have you written a book I can get or can you recommend one? I mainly have a plant based diet am overall healthy but I do worry abt kidneys.
