📹 Pink Hair! | What Not to Wear
Beryl finally learns what pink hair really means. Watch WNTW Tuesdays @ 9/8c …
How do I know if I would look good with pink hair?
Choose the right shade for your hair tone and undertones by considering deep pinks with yellow and orange flecks. For warmer undertones, darker shades like blush or violet/blue will complement your complexion. Consult your hair stylist for realistic shades, as the amount of bleach needed for cool pastel shades can be damaging. Deeper pinks are available that don’t require as much bleach. Book an appointment with a professional to dye your hair pink, as it’s essential to avoid damage and achieve the best results. If your hair is naturally dark, consult your stylist about realistic shades.
What skin tone looks good with pink hair?
Individuals with skin that burns quickly are likely to possess a cool tone, as those with warm tones are more prone to tanning and exhibit a brownish hue. The presence of blueish or pink tones against a white background is indicative of a cool tone, whereas the presence of yellowish or orange tones is indicative of a warm tone. The presence of blue or green veins indicates a cool or warm undertone, respectively. In the event that both are present, the individual is likely to be of a neutral undertone.
What skin tone looks best in pink?
Warm-undertone skin prefers hues like orange, yellow, green, off-white, and warm red, while cool-undertone skin prefers purple, fuchsia, pink, white, and blue. Neutrals and olives can wear any shade. Choosing the right makeup shades can be overwhelming, especially when shopping online. Learning about skin undertones and identifying yours can help you find your match. Celebrity makeup artist Yolonda Frederick explains that the color of the skin’s outer surface can vary, but the undertone, the shade underneath the skin, never changes. People often confuse the two and end up wearing makeup with the right color but the wrong undertone, resulting in ashy, sallow, green, or orange skin.
What can damage aquamarine?
Aquamarine care involves keeping alcohol- and ammonia-containing products away from the stone, avoiding contact with abrasive materials, and storing it away from diamond jewelry. Aquamarine’s beautiful greenish-blue hue requires regular cleaning and polishing to avoid cloudiness or smudging. Soft materials and avoiding harsh cleaners and rough items are essential for maintaining its beauty. Nazar’s and Co. Can gemstones have negative effects?
Gemstones, such as Neelam (Blue Sapphire) and Heera (Diamond), are associated with the planets Saturn and Venus in Vedic astrology. Neelam, linked to Saturn, symbolizes justice, discipline, karma, and longevity. It can bring hardships and misfortunes, but when placed positively, it offers wisdom and success. Wearing Neelam can improve health, wealth, career, and social status. However, caution is essential, as wearing it without understanding one’s horoscope and Saturn’s elements can be harmful.
Diamond, associated with Venus (Shukra), symbolizes charm, beauty, happiness, luxury, and romance. A favorable placement of Shukra in the horoscope can lead to a life of happiness and opulence. Wearing Heera without understanding one’s horoscope and Venus can be dangerous. Consulting an expert astrologer is crucial before wearing any gemstone, as it can lead to adverse effects and potentially ruin one’s life.
What not to do with aquamarine?
Aquamarine stones are delicate and can be easily damaged by cleaning products containing ammonia or alcohol, as well as abrasive materials like scrubbing cloths or brushes. To maintain their shine, use soft, nonabrasive materials. The setting of the stone also affects cleaning, with silver requiring dry jewelry before using a soft cloth to buff tarnishes. For gold, stainless steel, or tungsten settings, follow the same cleaning process as the gemstone.
Aquamarine, a greenish-blue to blue variety of beryl, is durable and comes in various colors. It is particularly attractive on engagement rings or other jewelry pieces when regularly cleaned to maintain its shine. Aquamarines are susceptible to cloudiness or smudging, so it is essential to follow these cleaning tips to maintain their shine.
Is Beryl safe to wear?
Beryl jewelry, with a hardness of 7. 5-8 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, is durable and suitable for everyday wear. To clean the jewelry, use a mild detergent and lukewarm water, and employ a soft brush to remove any residue from the area behind the stone. It is recommended that the item be removed before sleeping in order to ensure optimal care.
What crystals are not safe to wear?
Gemstone toxicity is a concern for gem faceters and jewelry enthusiasts, affecting normal handling, cutting, and ingestion. The table provides toxicity ratings for over 280 gems based on their composition and potential bioactivity. Most minerals are safe to handle, but radioactivity in uranium and thorium-containing minerals should be assessed using a Geiger counter. Water-soluble gems require extra care, and certain heavy metals have adverse effects at any concentration.
Are beryl stones toxic?
Beryl, a carcinogen with acute toxic effects, is crucial for mining, handling, and refining gems. Aquamarine, a blue or cyan variety of beryl, is found in most localities that yield ordinary beryl. It is also found in gem-gravel placer deposits in Sri Lanka, Brazil, and Brazil. The deep blue version, called maxixe, is caused by radiation-induced color centers. The pale blue color is due to Fe 2+ ions, while the golden-yellow color is produced by Fe 3+ ions. When both Fe 2+ and Fe 3+ are present, the color becomes darker blue. Decoloration of maxixe by light or heat may be due to charge transfer between Fe 3+ and Fe 2+.
Who should not wear aquamarine?
Aquamarine, a gentle and accommodating gemstone, is known for its stunning sea-blue hues and healing properties. It is a versatile gemstone that can be worn by anyone, from jewelry lovers to spiritual seekers. The name “aquamarine” comes from the Latin for “water of the sea”, reflecting the calming qualities of the ocean. Aquamarine is formed from the beryl family, which includes emerald, and is known for its range of blue tones, from the lightest hint of sky blue to a deeper sea blue.
However, those highly sensitive to crystal energies may find it too calming or sedating. Aquamarine’s practical uses include meditation and manifestation, and it can be cleaned, cleansed, and charged. Studying crystal healing for £29 is a great way to learn more about this beautiful gemstone.

📹 A Flight Attendant’s Stunning Makeover | What Not to Wear: Fast Forward
WNTW Enjoy this WNTW Fast Forward from one of our favorite episodes of all time. Denise is a flight attendant with a unique …
This show is great. No one is holding these women down and making them do this. The show is helping them better express themselves without the fear that a lot of them seem to carry about their appearances. These short clips don’t always expose that, but the full episodes USUALLY show insecure women (or women who are at least insecure about their looks) who come out much happier and confident.
I think the problem with fashion the way a lot of people see it, or the mainstream (The JC penny designers I’d call them), is that it seems to believe that everyones’ style revolves around the same inspiration and they all want to dress the same. It never allows for what I see the whole point of fashion is, which is personal expression, putting what you think your personality is on the outside.
Being too different, out there, or strange is bad or intimidating in society. Don’t be too different or unique. Don’t be yourself or who you truly are. Don’t be free spirited and making your own decisions such as what you want to wear in your everyday life outside of work. Don’t express yourself the way you want through clothing. Let’s all change our appearances with a false mask of makeup and hairdos that they choose for us and look like the celebrities because they look better than us (not… They don’t even look natural), and change from our true individual natural beauty and uniqueness. Let them choose our style for us when really their style is just a safe, universal, uniform guideline that they use for everyone…. Key word: uniform. just like schools that encourage uniforms. Let’s make everyone the same because being too different and straying from the norm is bad! Bad bad BAD!!!!! saying they are encouraging everyone to be the same to eliminate bullying is BS. Why not just continue encouraging unique beauty? so that eventually everyone learns to love one another for who they are? Isn’t that what they want? of course not. Because its more controlling to make everyone the same like robots. What happened to the days when uniqueness was praised and pushed in the world? Things like this show is just straight pushing the One World agenda… i honestly like the peoples unique styles before they allowed these as*sholes to change who they are. This show promotes self hate and anti-individualism.
She was a participant I thought was perfectly find beforehand. Some of her stuff was gross and needed to be trashed(like those jeans), but her actual style wasn’t bad. And I never understood all the times they told women in their very early 20s that they needed to be more “mature” or “polished”. For what? This girl was barely out of college(I think) and an artist in NYC. She’s really not the age nor does she have the career that really necessitates a ~polished~ look. BUT I will say, she did look bangin’ in the end. I like that they kept her hair pink.
i love ted hes the best hair stylist i have seen but what is it with him and bangs.every episode that i have seen him in he always does bangs i think there has been one or two i haven’t seen him do it but.still.i love him though.lol.and i love Beryl’s final look its amazing.i wish i looked like that lol.
I knew from the beginning she was going to turn out beautiful. Cuz even without the makeup and everything, she had a great skin tone and was already just naturally gorgeous! With an independent personality to match! But seeing how this turned out in the end, I was just BLOWN away! I love everything! Her style and clothes, the subtle makeup (thank God) that keeps that naturalness in place, and her hair: HER HAIR. I wish Ted was my stylist! This has got to be one of my favorite makeovers! <3 😀
Her hair would have been fine before if the color job wasn’t so shitty- im glad he fixed the pink. I hated seeing all the yellow brassy areas. Everything else was fine though- it was punk. I guess the difference is the first look is more casual, the second look is more dressy. There’s no reason a person can’t do both.
The What Not to Wear Team knocked this one O-U-T of the park. The pink hair is bold and adorable and fits her personal style BUT he kicked it up a notch to Polish and Glam it up. I also loved “ain’t nothing wrong with black”–he’s got talent to read his clients. I miss the WNTW Team but especially Stacy and Clinton. The hair and makeup stylists are incredible but it’s S & C who have first contact to break down the barriers.
@ghostae138 what I love about this show is how HAPPY it makes these women after the transformation. They look like they are so much more confident, so much more content with how they look and feel. In my opinion, they only accentuate and vamp up their style, rather than take away their uniqueness. But you make an incredibly great point and I wish all guys were as sweet as you!
I wish they didn’t strip away her own style. Some of the items on her are tacky to general public’s taste but if she learned how to color cortinate, balance the amount of glitter and mix match the jewelry she would have looked way more interesting and like herself rather than a generic catalog model. The only things that needed to go is that hair color, make up and fake tan.
God, I’d totally forgotten about this episode! It came out in 2012/2013 when I was going through a really rough period where I wasn’t doing well emotionally, and my mom had kind of walked out on me about three years prior and had just started getting back into my life to tell me that she was moving me across the country away from the only parent and friends I’d ever known, and I held a lot of resentment for her.. And one night I could tell she was really REALLY trying to get to know me or find something to bond with me over, and I was perusal trash TV in the living room and this episode was airing and we sat and ended up laughing so hard, and to this day that was kind of a turning point in my relationship with my mother, we STILL quote “It’s soooo cuuuteeeee” five years later.
I used to really like this show, but now I realize all its trying to do is tell women how to dress and act. The “perfect” amount of sexual, not too much you might give someone the wrong idea, the “perfect” amount of color, sparkles, self expression. If you don’t fit into the tall, professional, slightly girly (but not too much obv) then you can bet your ass you’ll be on this show.
She is a classic Sanguine (google it) personality. That is why her wardrobe is “costumey” and she loves sparkly things. She is being who she was designed to be: Child-like manner, fun, not blending in and a costume wardrobe is typical for the sanguine female. I liked her original wardrobe however, they gave her a more polished look I must admit. The new hair and make up made a hugh difference.
Her style reminds me a lot to the gyaru girls, yeah it’s very uncommon but personally I find it really beautiful, and it’s an actual style after all. I think that was part of who she was, and she seemed really happy and comfortable with it, I don’t understand why would they transform a queen like her into a boring average looking woman.
I can understand helping people who are stuck in a style rut, want to be fashionable but just don’t know how or if everything they wear is NSFW +19 but she seemed really happy with the way she was before. If someone told me that my style is terrible, I’d probably just smile and nod while they’re there and keep doing my thing. I don’t blame the show of course, some of her friends/family must have nominated her to be on it
Okay I mean she looks great in the end but seriously they just stripped her away of her individuality that was being expressed through her wardrobe and makeup. Now it’s just, idk, now she’s following that cookie cut out of what a not too much not too little basic society standard style is. It just feels wrong. But whatever makes her happy she should do it.
Everybody in the comments saying that they should just let her express herself and blah blah blah.. but don’t you guys understand, they actually helped her in a way. With the look she had going people probably never took her seriously, she really did resemble the stereotype of a bubble headed bimbo. If she doesn’t want to continue with the change no one is forcing her to, they’re just trying to stop her from embarrassing herself. Why else do you think her close friends and family members nominated her for this show?
Seriously girl…trust me…you look 10 years younger now. You looked like a character from: a) the Grand Old Opry…circa 1980 or b) from the long-running British Soap Opera- Coronation Street. Good Lord… Crazy, bleached blonde hair, fake tan and bad makeup on such a tiny girl. Just Bad. You look Mahhhvelous now, Post make-over. Tell that odd, Barbie-Doll character she is on permenant vacation.
she’s a cute lady. She has good confidence. Her makeup/hair just looks so overdone though. She’s beautiful and doesn’t need this weird Barbie makeover that many women do and miss. I think everyone has really taken this show out of context. They are helping her give off the image she wants to portray, they say so in the beginning. Sometimes it’s hard for people to see something unless it’s really brought to them in a way that shows them firsthand. Her friends and family opted for this because they love her and want to see her be her best self. and she was HAPPY AT THE END. If everyone started taking things like this with a bit of salt we would have better television these days.
Her clothes are cute lol this show sucks. “Maybe there’s a human under all that” wow Perfect example of the sexism and exploitation in the 2000s lol. Denise is cute af her makeup was a lil much but let her be lol why does everyone have to look the same. I’m so glad we’ve evolved at least a little beyond this bs
when i was 7 years old (I’m only 14 years old now) me and my mom saw this episode of what not to wear and we literally have been quoting her for 7 years. when ever I wear glitter I go to my mom and say “hi mom don’t I just look super cuteee” and I just found this article and its making me feel so nostalgic
Honestly, the only things I didn’t like were her shoes, hair, bows, makeup, and tan. Her clothes weren’t over the top and her body was cute AF. She looks great in the professional wear though and it is important for people to have access to good quality clothes. She has the personality where the clothes don’t wear her, she wears the clothes. Meaning she wouldn’t look boring or lose anything by wearing “grown up clothes.”
I’m on the fence. I like what this show does but I also love it when people just do what they want with their look. If someone likes to dress crazy and “like a character” then why not? I love the classy conventional trends, but I also love what people come up with.. I love decora girl fashion, 90s fashion, pin up, street fashion, clubing fashin, basic everyday fashion. One day the basic things most of us wear are going to be a trend probably 20-30 yrs. certain pieces will be recycled. Idk I think that it’s all cool…
I remember this episode. I actually really liked her hair and clothes. I just wasn’t a fan of her makeup, tan, and eyebrows. But it’s a fine line, because style is so personal. One person might wear no makeup at all, while another goes full glitz and glam every single day. Each person’s situation is different.
you know what really grinds my gears (lol) okay how a woman who “looks” a certain way is automatically labeled a “bimbo” or has a “bimbo” look. I know a lot of “plain janes” who like the D and that is okay…perceiving a woman as a “certain” way based on appearance is appalling I know this show gets the views but I feel is soo terrible in that a person should be able to wear whatever they want and that is fine. (trips getting off the soapbox)
She’s so nice and they were just giving her crap about her sense of style.. she politely refuted all their bashing the entire article and tried to find the humor and bright side of it by making little jokes and smiling but they just kept giving her “are you serious” looks and honestly that was annoying. Like let her keep that extravagant, lively style and just maybe show her how to tone down some of the things that people associate with negative personality traits like the fake tan and excessive makeup. I thought she seemed like a really nice person
Okay I say this lovingly because dolly Parton is like someone that I love and look up too but she looked like Dolly Parton, also Stop shaming women for their looks. She honestly looked fine( her makeup was a little intense but to each their own). Shows like this is the reason little girls starve themselves and teen girls dont love themselves
One of the big things I learned from perusal this show is that you can’t make over women with a carefully curated “look,” no matter how outlandish and unflattering it is. They have spent literally YEARS of their life in front of their dimly lit mirror, creating this larger than life fantasy version of themselves, and they’ve grown accustomed to it. Taking them out of that realm and putting them into normal clothes is like shoving a drag queen out into broad daylight with no eyelashes. They feel naked and not themselves. It’s WAY different than taking some frump who’s never worn a dress and putting on a bit of lip gloss and suddenly she’s a human woman.
what does it matter how she looks like? Hellooo she is comfortable with her clothes and it doesn’t bother anyone! so let her be different! gosh you want to “fix” what’s not broken, make her look like a “normal human” geez clothes don’t matter or shouldn’t matter like do people even remember why do they even wear clothes ???
I feel bad for her…i think she has a lot of self esteem issues and she uses makeup and sparkly clothes to hide behind it. The duck lips thing is probably her attempt to make her lips looks fuller (not that she needs to do that) she probably tries to reach an impossible ideal set out by media. After the show she went right back to her regular makeup look….I wonder now what she is doing though
