Why was Asher killed?

The Good Doctor’s controversial decision to kill off a major character, Asher, in season 7 sent a powerful message about antisemitism but perpetuated a harmful trope. The show could have addressed antisemitism and LGBTQ+ representation without resorting to violent killings. The shocking death of Asher made a powerful point but also sent the wrong message. The decision to kill one of the show’s most likable characters made the drama even more unexpected and impactful.

This is the second time The Good Doctor has made the controversial decision to kill off a popular leading character, following the death of Dr. Neil Melendez in season 3. The recent character death in season 7 has some similarities but also sends a negative message that undermines the series’ focus on acceptance of differences.

Who killed Frank Delfino?

In “How to Get Away with Murder”, Frank Delfino, also known as Frank, is a local Philly boy who unexpectedly works for Annalise Keating. Frank is loyal and tough-guy, ready to do Annalise’s dirty work. His street-smart exterior makes him the ideal protector for Annalise. However, his number one vice is sleeping with the students.

Frank was born in Philadelphia to Sam Keating and Hannah Keating, and was adopted by the Delfino family. His father was strict but not abusive, and when he was 13, he planned to murder him. He ran over his father and left him suffering under the car, thinking he hadn’t done it right. Frank stayed in jail for 10 years, and his parole was denied due to his bad behavior.

In 2004, Frank is in prison when guards visit his cell and introduce him to Dr. Keating. Sam tells him that his aunt Bev knew his sister in high school and that Frank’s family is worried about him. Frank tells Sam that he has worked with many people in his situation and that his family has told him that he is up for parole in the next couple of months.

Annalise Keating, a lawyer, tells Frank that the only way for him to get out is if he admits to his crimes, even if he didn’t commit them. Frank comments that she is different from how he imagined her to be, and Annalise tells him that both are far from vanilla. Frank starts asking her personal questions, but she lists his more recent charges and calls him a moron, as no one who wants to get out would commit these crimes when they are up for parole.

  • I understand in a series that’s called How To Get Away With Murder … There’s gonna be a few bodies … I also understand why Sam died … I don’t understand why 2 innocent young women also had to die. It’s kinda twisted that Bonnie’s the real psycho and Frank turns out to be henchman … I also think this show makes lawyers look much more clever than real life … Anyway, It’s just as entertaining as anything on Netflix and Viola Davis is second to none.

  • I like the “Doucheface”-character most, because he’s such a comedic, yet relatable antihero. Second I like the “Hairgel”-character most, because he’s such a shameless bully sometimes, it’s hilarious to watch. Then I like Nate, because he’s a physically perfectly shaped human being and has a deep voice. The delfini character I don’t know, because I’m stuck at season one. The Wes character I like the least because he’s so morally idealistic, that it gives me nausea. Edit: F*ck, the delfini guy was Frank all along, I didn’t recognize him (because his voice is so different and because he looks brutally generic). Well I like him maybe the 3rd one, because he’s very uncomplicated, he’s basically behaving in a way that occurs logical to me. He has no “psychological agenda” to be annoyed of, he just does the common sense thing to do. Edit2: now I’m at the beginning of S2 and the doucheface-character has been reduced to a complete caricature with no developement whatsoever and became the one that I least like (second to Wes, which I like least.) Nate has been reduced to a complete passive character with no own drive nor agenda which is sad. Frank became my favorite character, because everyone is suffering because of their own stupidity and Frank is the only one behaving wise and enjoying his life.

  • Lmao, I’m shook not by the fact that he has an English accent but how POSH that accent is. I’m American, so I can’t differentiate all the different English accents that well but Alfred’s accent definitely sounds like the accent of someone who lives on some huge estate and drinks tea out of a china set that is like three hundred years old. And instead of granulated sugar, they use sugar blocks that they pick up with those tiny little prongs. Also, his character is a lot more soft-spoken then he is.
