God comforts the brokenhearted children of evil fathers by inviting them to honor a father who is worthy of all honor. As Jesus followers, we serve a God who loves children and has spoken extensively about protecting and loving them throughout His time on earth. We are charged with helping our children learn to guard their hearts and minds from the deceptive and destructive forces of evil that often masquerade as good.
God is not in control of the well-being of our children either. He has a “hands-off” policy on these types of things, often referred to as “hands-off”. Jesus responded to children in His ministry and what does God say about their protection and care. Learn from Scripture how to love, heal, and seek justice for children who suffer abuse and mistreatment.
The biggest gift that God gave to humans was freedom, meaning that humans are free to make choices, even bad and evil ones. It is important to never pay back evil with more evil and do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
In conclusion, God comforts the brokenhearted children of evil fathers by inviting them to honor a father who is worthy of all honor. We are charged with helping our children learn to guard their hearts and minds from the deceptive and destructive forces of evil that often masquerade as good. We should be vigilant and connect with our kids on a daily basis to help them grow in their relationship with God.
📹 Does God Punish Children for the Sins of Their Parents? SeanMcDowell.org
DESCRIPTION: Does God hold children accountable for when their parents do bad things? Is culpability for sin passed on from …
How do you deal with an evil parent?
Psychologists Alyson Corner and Angela Levin have launched a website, myhorridparent. com, to help victims of horrid parenting survive and become good parents themselves. The website was created after realizing that there are parents who seem determined to put their children down, diminishing them and rubbishing them. The idea for the site came from realizing that many parents can think of something they have done in haste and regretted later. The crucial difference between being good enough and being horrid is that the crucial difference is that the parent apologises; the capacity to stand back, recognize mistakes, and say sorry is key.
Horrid parents don’t do this because they haven’t done what is the top requirement of good enough parenting, which is to put their child at No 1 on their priority list. For them, someone or something else is No 1 – it might be themselves (narcissistic parents) or an anger or obsession or need of their own that eclipses the needs of their child.
In conclusion, there is no such thing as “horrid parenting” and there is no such thing as “good enough” parenting. The website aims to help victims of such parenting survive and eventually become good parents themselves.
What does the Bible say about protecting children from evil?
The prayer asks God to protect the children, ensuring they are safe and protected from harm. It emphasizes the importance of being close to them and surrounding them with His favor. The prayer also prays for protection in all their ways, including coming out and going in, and against diseases, accidents, predators, and evil. It also prays for clear direction in doing His will, wisdom to know when to avoid potential harm, and courage to walk away from it.
The prayer also prays for the blood of Jesus to ash over the children, covering them as they walk through their lives. The verse also emphasizes that if the Lord is the dwelling, no harm will befall them, and no disaster will come near their tent. The prayer also mentions that His angels will guard the children in all their ways, lifting them up in their hands to prevent them from striking their foot against a stone.
What does God say about dysfunctional families?
In summary, practicing prayer and forgiveness is crucial for dealing with family conflicts and healing. It is a therapeutic approach that helps heal and resolve issues, but it can be challenging to live free from offense. Resolving disputes with unforgiving and uncooperative individuals is difficult, but the ministry of reconciliation is given to us.
Maintaining a consistent prayer life is essential, as it allows us to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us. Forgiveness is a gift to ourselves, and refusing to forgive someone is like stabbing yourself. Honoring one’s father and mother is also important, as it fosters respect and honor. Children should be nurtured and directed in the ways of the Lord, while husbands and wives should have love, respect, and reverence towards each other.
Privacy is another key aspect of family life, as it is essential to protect one’s privacy. Confidentiality is the protection of data and information that only certain people should have access to, while privacy is the protection of the people involved. Choose appropriate persons to share private family matters, and social media should not be used when sharing such matters.
Focusing on being both integral and ethical is crucial in building family integrity. While reputation and public perception are important, integrity in private matters and family’s personal perception at home should be the priority. Private matters involving abuse or mistreatment should be handled with care and reported to the proper authorities and counselors. By focusing on these aspects, families can work towards a more harmonious and healthy environment.
Does God punish the children of the wicked?
God’s heart is not about punishing people, but rather holding children accountable for their parents’ sins. It is the responsibility of every generation to learn from their parents’ mistakes and not repeat them. Generational accountability lasts through the third and fourth generation, while God’s loyal love lasts for thousands. Remembering the past helps us not repeat mistakes, as the children of Israel discovered firsthand what we all see in our own lives. We may not be responsible for our parents’ mistakes, but we still have to deal with the consequences of their choices.
What are the promises of God for protection for children?
The Bible emphasizes the importance of teaching children about God and His presence in their lives. It promises peace, health, safety, protection, and prosperity, as well as righteousness. Children will be protected from tyranny and terror, and no weapon formed against them will prosper. The hearts of children are like good soil, producing a crop 100 times what was sown. They should avoid evil desires of their youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
Why does God punish the children of sinners?
God punishes us for the sins of our first parents due to their unique role as a federal head in the prelapsarian covenant of works. Adam represents all his descendants, and when our first parents fell, they incurred punishment for themselves and their descendants. The Westminster Confession of Faith explains that the guilt of this sin was imputed, and the same death in sin and corrupted nature was conveyed to all their descendants by ordinary generation.
To be delivered from the sin and misery brought on us by our first parents, we must be united by faith to a faithful head, the Lord Jesus Christ. God deals with us according to our parents’ sins or obedience, and our answer to the question depends on how we define parents in context. The parentage that truly matters is whether we are under the headship of Adam or Christ.
What does the Bible say about an evil parent?
The scriptures encourage the practice of honoring one’s father and mother, emphasizing the importance of upholding their honorable behavior. While it is important to honour one’s parents as individuals, it is also crucial to avoid becoming complicit in their less honourable actions.
How to biblically deal with toxic family members?
Jesus’ teachings on dealing with toxic family members can help us understand the difference between annoying and truly toxic individuals. Forgiveness is crucial, but acceptance is not. If change doesn’t come, you don’t have to accept or settle for toxic behavior. Instead, control your own behavior.
Being a Christian can be challenging, as it requires us to act in a way that may seem counterintuitive. Forgiveness may not make sense for logical people, and feelings-based individuals may struggle to ignore their feelings when God calls for different actions.
Toxic family members can be anyone who treats you poorly or your kids poorly, causing conflicts within your family or causing misery during holidays or vacations. Despite attempts to reconcile, the situation never improves, and the situation worsens.
Toxic doesn’t equate to annoying, as we all have many annoying family members or habits. Toxic is poison and insidious, eating away at your happiness. As Christians, we must learn to deal with toxic people while giving unlimited forgiveness and loving our enemies.
In summary, understanding the difference between annoying and toxic family members is crucial for our well-being. As Christians, we must learn to control our own behavior and act in a way that brings peace and harmony.
Does God punish children for their parents mistakes?
God doesn’t punish children for their parents’ sins in the spiritual sense, but sometimes they do suffer temporal consequences. Ahab, who sold himself to do evil, was chosen to be wiped out by God. The Bible explains this, and there are five applications for discipling men. The question of whether children will have to pay for their parents’ sins is a topic of discussion in the church, and many men are questioning whether they will have to pay for their own sins.
How to deal with evil family members?
In order to effectively address the toxic behavior of a family member, it is essential to first determine one’s own role in the situation and then establish clear boundaries. It is permissible to temporarily disengage from the situation, but it is crucial to ensure that the emotional response does not escalate into a state of apprehension. It is important to remember that the issues of a toxic family member are not a reflection of one’s own actions or those of the family member in question.
What does the Bible say about evil family members?
The Scriptures provide numerous teachings that urge the separation from, avoidance of, and expulsion of wicked individuals from our midst. This is exemplified in various passages, including 1 Corinthians 15:33, Proverbs 13:20, Psalm 1:1, Proverbs 6:27, 1 Corinthians 5:11, and 1 Corinthians 10:13.
📹 What Made It Okay for God to Kill Women and Children In the Old Testament?
Why was it right for God to slaughter women and children in the Old Testament? How can that ever be right?
I have lost 3 of my children, they perished by no fault of their own. The despair left me angry and lost for many years. Then one day I encountered a homeless man, he was very tall with grey almost white hair & beard and his skin had been hardened by the sun. He approached me & asked if he had heard right if in fact I had just lost my 3 child. I nodded yes. He said to me : Many years ago when I was a young man, I awoke to thick smoke billowing all around me. It was so thick I couldn’t breath and could barely find my way outside. As I lay on my lawn gasping for air I heard “Daddy Daddy” being cried out. In my confusion I realized my child was still inside. By this time flames were 15 feet high and all the windows had been blown out. I scrambled to my feet and took off to save my boy but a force knocked me down. I fought it then another force jolted me and another, It was neighbors piling on top of me preventing me from returning to the inferno. I screamed and fought I had to save my boy but they would not get off of me. It took 8 or more men to hold me back. By the time the fire crew arrived there was nothing left of my home and my 2 yr old son had perished. I lost myself that day, I walked away from any and everything I ever knew. I spent the next 35 years on the streets drunk and miserable. I just wanted to die and be with my son, I was freezing one night and on my knees I cried out to God to just take me already and end my suffering. A great sense of calmness came over me which I had not felt in those 35 years, and Jesus spoke to me loud and clear like a speaker in my head and said my son did not parish to punish me and God does not do bad things to people however he does allow bad things to happen and if I were a great force wanting to destroy my enemy (people with good hearts that do their best to be good to others) would I not go after those I felt threatened by the most?
This is a classic logical fallacy that dates back to Aristotle called “petitio principii,” known in English as “begging the question” (a phrase most people use incorrectly). It’s where the premise of an argument presupposes the truth of the conclusion rather than supporting it—in this case, that it’s morally just for God to command the slaughter of women and children because everything God does is morally just. It’s like a book that says giraffes can fly, and when someone challenges it, you point out that the title of the book is “Everything In This Book Is True.” It’s logically incoherent.
On one hand I respect Johns perspective as he reads and believes what the text actually says and views it as true and justified by God. Many christians will simply never consider these texts in the Bible and see the theological difficulties with them. On the other hand I find the explanations he gives horrifying.
One problem I still have after thinking about this is, sure, I can accept that God has the right to take life whenever he pleases since he granted it, but why would he directly command a group of people or a single individual to do so in an imperfect world, rather than just stopping their hearts or using a natural disaster? Taking someone’s life can cause permanent changes to a person’s psychology, and many describe as a line you cross that you can never go back from, even when they believe that they their decision to kill was justified or in self-defense.
So, morals are not actually objective in the Christian viewpoint. Murder, in this worldview, isn’t wrong because human life has intrinsic value. Murder is wrong because someone other than God kills. In the case of Biblical murder, it’s even right for humans to kill if told to by God. This is sick. Absolutely sick.
The irony here is that people like Piper often accuse us atheists as having “no objective morality.” And yet we’re the ones arguing that say that infanticide/genocide/torture will ALWAYS be wrong. No matter WHO does it or in WHAT context. It doesn’t matter that he’s God, because murdering innocent babies and toddlers is objectively wrong. There will never be a context in which genocide is just. Thankfully I haven’t seen many Christians who think like this man.
As much as I respect Pastor John Piper I have to disagree with the specific point about capital punishment (i.e., the death penalty as currently enacted in the US). 1) It negates the possibility of redemption (some murderers have subsequently found Christ) 2) There is the possibility of the miscarriage of justice, i.e., people wrongly sentenced to execution. There are many innocent people who would now be dead if they had been in a country which had the death penalty. Any system which has that as a possibility must be wrong.
Just finished reading Exodus 22 and here I am lol. I love reading the Bible but there’s so much, especially in the Old Testament, that I just can’t wrap my head around. He says not to murder, then 2 pages later he wants everyone’s firstborn. Is there a difference between murder and sacrifice? Imagine a woman spending 6 days with a beautiful newborn baby and then on the 7th, the baby is headless or being burned alive.
This is a very chilly and creepy response for me. The fact that he didn’t even try to beat around the bush, and straight up said God can either birth us in here, and then, wills us to be sent into our deaths even if you were very young. I can definitely understand that if God exists, he has the absolute right to command us, but, why suffer? Is there a need for suffering? How does that justify that he loves us? Unless he’s toying with us? By ordering an atrocity? Why can’t he just let the people die without suffering? Oh, I know. That’s because we are “sinful”. I’m very pessimistic when it comes to my religion, I can’t seem to come to terms with it anymore.
Asking Christians “is your god a ruthless killer” is like asking an abused girl with stalkholm syndrome why she stays with an abuser, there’s always SOME EXCUSE like “oh, yeah he hit me but I was like, sort of being out of line for asking him to stop choking me 🤷♀️ what can ya do. Sure he ruthlessly insults me degrades me and tells me I’m useless without him, but I love him! He’s my world!” This is literally their god. A walking abusive toxic masculinity archetype, but instead of like when someone gets out of a bad relationship and everyone cheers them on, if you try to leave the church you’re socially isolated and “just being consumed by your own evil and vice, and you’ve disrespected and insulted the gracious amazing being that had the generosity to make you worthless trash” This is the ultimate Stockholm syndrome toxic relationship Like, the question is a simple yes or no, “is your god a murderous genocidal bipolar brat?” And based on the evidence YES, he has committed numerous mass slaughters, but “oh, it’s a misunderstanding, oh you’re not looking at it from the perspective of the times, oh just because he has a pattern of genocide doesn’t make him genocidal they were just gay and god said he would never kill everything again, so it’s fine right?!” Like… you can use all the justifications in the world, but the fact that you have more literature on explaining how you somehow AREN’T A cult worshipping a warmonger, than actual literary texts and manuscripts about your beliefs says a lot about the integrity of your organization, and the sheer amount of effort and mental acrobatics you do to try to desperately hold your worldview together should inform you that it takes more effort to refute bullshit than to make it up since nobody in modern sensible society can convince you you’re dedicating your precious existence on this anomaly to an ancient wrathful cartoon character archetype despite evidence and logic, and some more evidence it’s all metaphorical.
So God can kill, and he can even command ME to kill, but I should be put to death for the taking of a life????… Yet Gods commandments says “thou shall not kill” ???… I’ve been really hurting and confused about God, and if he really loves me and my family, that’s how I got here. This has made me more confused than ever.
I am really amazed that people can come so down to defend so called “God’s judgment”. I would like to ask only one question, then what difference is there between a Jihadi who kill hundreds of innocent lives in the name of God and those Israelites? I can claim to be the apostle of god and then do whatever I want in the name of god.
What you have learned to trust is a story that you have been told and you grew up with it so it seems true to you. I grew up with the same story. But all you have to do is imagine yourself not believing it and then ask yourself, “how would I convince myself that it’s true,” and you’ll see that you probably can’t. I definitely respect Christianity, and if you have faith in it, that’s great. I just don’t think that it’s rationally justifiable.
As a very recent believer both sides of the comments make some sense to me. What is becoming very apparent in the difference between those who don’t believe is that they think they know or could even know what is …. what’s right or what the world even is at all. The whole point of God to admit you know nothing. To come to terms with how small you really are. I think that those who have a harsh reaction to this article ultimately have a problem with not being in charge or giving up any illusion of power and control over themselves… To be worthy of God and a perfect life means to let go of yourself and give up your free will in a sense… to give back the choice that he gave you in the first place. It feels so much better once you admit and submit to what IS – – to the truth – – to God almighty. Only he can know and that’s the whole point. None of us have the answers.
I remembered when I accepted this kind of explanation. I didn’t want to, but I had to, my religion was so heavily engrained in me-even from birth. Who was I to defy my very culture? Through my desire to find truth, I evaluated the supposed truth of the Bible. I ate it up. For hours a day I read and took notes until I finished it. Throughout this period, I ended up reaching a truth I never wanted to see. A truth much too disheartening for most to accept. A truth so raw and uncomfortable, it leveled my perceived order to its core.
The ok for innocent people to be killed bc of something their neighbors did is exactly what the Taliban uses in its justification for terrorist activity. So by extension, we could assume the narrator agrees with terrorist plots as long as it’s for Christian purposes and the perpetrators believe that they are carrying out God’s will.
God is a brutal being. He does things as he pleases and no one can question him because “he owes no man nothing”. That is according to the flatterers who try hard to please the insatiable ego of a self-centered god. We were not here on our own free will. We were brought into this world to satisfy the megalomaniac.
It’s not just the question of a God that murders at will. The greatest dilemma facing someone who believes in an Omnipotent God is the question, “When someone is subjected to appalling suffering, why doesn’t an Omnipotent God use his power to intervene, why is he content to merely observe? Any father in that circumstance would act immediately to stop the suffering of his child. Yet God merely watches. Either an omnipotent God is amoral and coldhearted, or he is a psychopathic voyeur. The people who first posited the idea of an omnipotent God didn’t think it through, didn’t perceive the implications. The only answer to this dilemma is to let go of the idea of an omnipotent God. You can believe in some sort of God, just not an omnipotent God. It brings to mind the angels in Wim Wender’s movie, “Wings of Desire”. The angels are deeply moral beings, deeply compassionate beings, who themselves suffer anguish when they observe suffering…and suffer anguish because they are not able to intervene. They are morally superior to the God worshipped by the Christians who, in these comments, assert that their God has the right to kill, has the right not to intervene to stop suffering. There is a blind, cold-hearted moral vacuity in their assertion. Me, I’m with Wim Wender’s angels.
Hear it from the horses mouth: John Calvin said, “The first man fell because the Lord deemed it meet that he should.” John Calvin said, “Creatures are so governed by the secret counsel of God, that nothing happens but what he has knowingly and willingly decreed.” John Calvin said, “Whatever things are done wrongly and unjustly by man, these very things are the right and just works of God.” Now, let’s apply these quotes to rape, incest, child abuse & murder… John Calvin said, ” rape, incest, child abuse & murder happens because the Lord deemed it meet that they should.” John Calvin said, “rape, incest, child abuse & murder are so governed by the secret counsel of God, that no rape, incest, child abuse & murder happens but what He has knowingly and willingly decreed.” John Calvin said, “Whatever rape, incest, child abuse & murder are done wrongly and unjustly by man, these very acts are the right and just works of God.” That is the Calvinist doctrine of Sovereignty.
It truly, truly amazes me that anyone could find this interpretation of violence in the Old Testament honest and just. God proved on countless occasions that he was jealous, petty, megalomaniacal, and eager to destroy those that he claimed to love as well as those that he hated. The argument that he need not justify what he does because he is the “supreme authority” is absolutely false, because a sufficiently powerful dictator could make the EXACT same case, and have JUST AS MUCH evidence to support the statement. There is as much evidence for the existence of God, as there is evidence that Hitler was a god. Absolutely none. The deeds of the Old Testament, carried out by illiterate and barbaric desert tribesmen, satisfied the basic human urge to cause pain, suffering and eventually death; that they were led by a hallucination makes it no better.
God did not kill them. Joshua’s soldiers, commanded by God killed them, to “put them to the edge of the sword.” So imagine being one of the soldiers rushing into a house, hacking and slashing the men, women, and children with your sword – with blood spurting ang guts spilling out. Then in another room is a baby in its crib. Do you stab it? Slash it open? Cut it in half? Now you repeat this as you go from house to house, covered with gore and with the screams of the dying ringing in your ears. Being killed by a sword is quite painful – people don’t just fall dead as in the movies. Don’t you think that these soldiers would suffer severe trauma from being forced to slaughter defenseless women, children, toddlers and babies? What Joshua should have said to God when he was ordered to send his men in is: “Lord, you are God – if you want these thousands of people dead, do it yourself! With a wave of your hand you could make them all drop dead.”
This idea seems to suggest to me that morality is purely arbitrary — that whatever God does is right simply by nature of him being God rather than because the action is truly good. John only calls the ethical practicalities of this scenario into question when humans are involved — does that mean that God is immune to any moral complication? According to this logic, God could perform an atrocious act, but it would still be morally acceptable simply because he is God.
Job 1:21New King James Version (NKJV)21 And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 2:10 Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Our choices and actions have consequences, we reap what we sow. The nations in the land which the Israelites displaced were wicked, they brought their destruction upon their selves. Furthermore, God warned the Israelites that if they did the same things, they would also be destroyed. See Leviticus chapter 18, especially verses 24-30.
If we are inside biblical context, and God ordered to bring justice to a certain group of very historically violent people and culture (that used to do child sacrifice), we are ready to assume that, possibly: 1. Bringing justice to those people allowed them to go to Heaven, because they were justified. They were judged and they paid the price. 2. Women and children could not survive alone in the wilderness after all the men being wiped out, not in Ancient Mesopotamia. 3. Death in the bible is just changing places. 4. God ordered the death of all those people so all of them could go together to the afterlife. No family separation, no remaining suffering. One of the worst possible things that an ancient Mesopotamian person could endure was exile. Being banned from your homeland was equivalent to being stripped of your civil rights, your religion (no temple, your god idol was kidnapped to other temples), your history, your heritage, your family name, everything was taken from you. The only thing that was left was a life of slavering and prostitution. Giving this context, it’s not absurd to assume that the order to slaughter ALL of them was, in fact, merciful, specially if we take account the premises. In other words, God’s order was: “take them out from there, and let them go as a whole.”
I understand that: 1- We Humans Deserve Everything that comes at us, Since We, out of our Own Will, Separated Ourself from His Protectorate. 2- in His Mercy, He has Offered a Chance for Salvation from the Consequences of the Path We Chose (in Our Arrogant Ignorance) 3-That Sufice Cause for Our Eternal Gratitude. -What i Can’t Understand: 1-What Possible Gratification would the Trascendent Mind of the Highest derive from the Slaughter of Millions of Animals (His very Creations from day 5-6) just for the “Pleasant Smell of their Burned Fat” ??? 2- In Real Life, How is any Different a Person that Allegedly Received an Order from his God (Yahweh, Allah, Marduk, Baal, Shiva…) from a Lunatic, Schizophrenic, or Sociopath using an Auditve Hallucination as Excuse for Enslavering, Pillaging, Slaughtering in their Own Benefit. Doesn’t the Blood from those Innocents Cry to God from the Earth (like Abel”s blood did)??? 3- Or would it Be that the Natrative Doesn’t Reflect the Real Wishes of Our Loving Father, and is a National Propaganda Built into the Sacred Text for Scaring people and Not be Bothered?
One: He did not slaughter no one as a man would discern, for all return to God, for with God there is no death, only life, only the man who in himself denies God to is own condemnation, is there death. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things two: He took them out the way to ensure the line of David, from the satanic forces. three: For Christ His Son to be born so He could save all from death, who believe in Him, from beginning to end, for at the end God will judge all things through His Son, then will cast death & hades into the lake of fire.
I’m not theologian. i am just a man of average intellect and understanding of the Bible. However, I believe that there are some things in the Bible and in the Universe that at this point we don’t have a simple answer for if at all. Can anyone explain what is behind the Event Horizon of a Black Hole ? If we can’t even explain God’s creations how can we know and understand God’s mind /heart ? How can we explain that a God who is omniscient will knowingly create billions of humans 90% of which he knows they will suffer eternal torment? I’m sure Mr.Piper is a very smart man, but he too is only a man and so was Einstein
I think Piper should’ve put like this “God KNOWS when our last day on earth will be” and not make it sound like God is a psycho killer. God is omnipotent and omnipresent as owner and creator of life and the physical world. But God’s justice is death for sin and that was demonstrated in the OT. You cannot sugar coat it. In order to provide a way to forgive He had to CRUSH His own son. We are rotten to the core and the Cross confirms it. That should be you and me nailed alive hanging there, not Jesus. So DO NOT try to ignore God’s true Justice just because you think you’re so lovable.
Just because you bring up a more specific and tragic question doesn’t mean it’s ok at all. Imagine this, Old Testament children just living however they live being slaughtered, sliced open as they scream for help. Was that a righteous act? Was that ok? Those children are just as innocent as your children you hug everyday. Was it absolutely necessary that they die in the most gruesome way possible?
Why don’t intellectually responsible Christians simply say, “Yes, the Bible does seem to support—or at very least does NOT condemn—certain immoral things between it’s covers at times, BUT… I, as a Christian, am big enough to admit that Christianity is based upon faith and not upon an infallible book… the Bible was written to satisfy man’s ideas of what man thought Gods ideas were at certain points in history.” That way, you are being open and honest to yourself and others, while maintaining respectability. I’m not a Christian, but I respect Christians who are intellectually honest (to themselves and to others) to admit that the Bible is not perfect. Otherwise, things get real weird and silly real fast.
So, if this man’s children end up in hell, he can say that they deserved it and that God owes them nothing. He will then somehow joyfully go on to enjoy the bliss of heaven. There’s something horrendously wrong with this picture. This is a prime example of a heartless (and demonic) abstract theology being used to justify the actions of an imaginary genocidal tyrant. When you allow some hideous theology to override your own compassion and basic sense of justice and rational thought, you have joined a cult.
So, if God is the sole arbitrator of an individual’s death it follows, he (God) is equally responsible for the circumstance of that death. This is to suggest God wills an individual die in sin via self-inflicted drug overdose or other method of suicidal termination. Suicide, we are told is an absolute ticket to eternal damnation. Seems a bit disingenuous for a loving merciful and JUST God to effectively predestine a troubled soul to suffer eternally. Yes, it is clear the creator has every right to expunge his creation at any time, but does he? No. God is aware of the time, place and instrument of our death but he assumes no role it.
And my question is what do u do wen ur fallen sick? Do u take medicine? If it is God’s will for u to die den why r u resisting God’s will? I talk as a man… God forbid. God loves everyone that is why He sent Jesus. Cancer and every other sickness is from devil. John 10:10. Abandant life (healing, prosperity, eternal life) is from Jesus.
Or you can come to realize that the Bible is not infallible and some of the Bible is altered. 90 percent of even the Old Testament is the character of Jesus. Jesus said if you have seen me you have seen the father. Common sense will show you by example these events in the Old Testament are not of God
There is no greater blasphemy than to believe that God kills anyone or anything. Primitive/tribal beliefs have no place in modern Christianity. If you love the OT so much then you are choosing to go AGAINST what Jesus taught. You are choosing, not just Judaism, but 2,000 year old Judaism. The modern Jews don’t even follow that stuff anymore. Jesus preached against almost all of ancient Jewish beliefs and traditions and He kept just a few good things.
Just for the record, Innermittensignal was meant to be a cute little play on words for a kids’ puppet website. People who turn against cuteness & choose macho for relating to the rest of us won’t get along with Jesus, who cares about all of us, not just some of us, & will defend the helpless if necessary. He will remove Evil from the earth when everyone has made their decision, which team they choose: Team Good or Team Satan…
What a pleasant personality this God Christians claim to love has, it seems one of his hobbies is to murder innocent children, we know he set about massacring whole populations of people he didn’t like and he sent people to war against each other because he felt they didn’t observe his rules, but to murder innocent women and children really gives a good insight into his character, He is an obsessive psychopath with not even the slightest amount of conscience. Read on – Isaiah 13:11-18 I will punish the world for its evil …Whoever is found will be thrust through, and whoever is caught will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed in pieces before their eyes. Deuteronomy 28:53 And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and daughters, which the Lord thy God hath given thee. Samuel 15:2-3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling. Jeremiah 19:3-9 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place … And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters. This is just a very small sample of the psychological makeup of this evil God, he even advocates cannibalism. Where is the love, compassion and understanding that is supposed to be the symbol of this SkyGod, it can’t be found anywhere in the bible but there is an abundance of hate, anger and cruelty. Nowhere in this fake bible is there one example of Satan ordering atrocities against women, children or anybody.
One does not need to be an atheist/agnostic to realize how asinine this answer is. What kind of father would create sentient, conscious beings, only to slaughter them and cause extreme harm? I guess God can torture babies as well, nothing morally wrong with that… he created the babies! Such absurdity.
So if the government has the sword and can kill criminals such as the ones he named, why then did Christ allow the adulteress to live when everyone was about to stone her? He said, “go and sin no more,” giving her another chance, and in turn showing us that we should do the same to others. To be locked away in prison is one thing, but to kill is another. Someone might say, well, rape and murder is a “bigger” sin than adultery, but that’s not scriptural, is it? That is man’s own biased view of sin right there. Sin is sin, and Christ decided to spare the woman instead of let her die. That begs the question, should we kill criminals?
I’m sorry but this is complete bullshit. I agree that if god kills me or you he has done us no wrong that’s correct. However what about a 2 week old or a donkey who has no sin. The Bible says death is the punishment of sin so why does a little baby or an animal die if they haven’t sinned? Someone might argue that the moment Adam sinned, death affected us all but this is wrong because it’s morally wrong. Killing a little child is never justifiable
I am in the middle of preparing for a exam in completion of my diploma of theology. A section of this exam requires preparation of the themes and structure in Deuteronomy. This topic is so sensitive because speaking of morality is sensitive, I appreciate everything this pastor/theologian has spoke of and love the truth statement that God owes us nothing, who are we to say people die in vain, however, I do find the story or death of the Levite woman who was raped and then murdered to be a little different in context. I’d be interested to hear people comments.
Amen. God is sovereign….The joy is when we leave our bodies no matter how it is meant to be we are ushered into heaven by our angel and brought into the presence of Jesus, and God our creator and all our loved ones that are waiting on us. Once your there you won’t remember any wrong again. Praise Him!!!
This isn’t such a difficult question when the history (which has been obscured) is taken into account. It’s basically the same question as how a loving God could cause a flood that would kill every living thing on the earth, except those shut in the ark w/ Noah. It’s a question of genetics. Genesis 6, and a greatly expanded explanation found in the Book of Enoch speak of the fallen angels who came to earth and mated with human women, creating the Nephilim, a hybrid race. They also compromised the animal creation. The myths of the Greeks, Egyptians, etc. weren’t purely imaginary; they were based on incidents and creatures which actually existed. Once creation had been mostly corrupted (except for Noah, who was found to be the only one “perfect in his generations” meaning of uncorrupted DNA) He had to destroy it & begin again. The same applies to those nations found in Canaan when the Israelites arrived. Genesis 6:4 states that “There were giants in the earth in those days, and also after that.” That’s why King Saul was commanded to slaughter not only the people but also all of the beasts. Look at the havoc being wrecked by GMO foods today, as a small example of why He placed boundaries between species that never were meant to be crossed. And we’re heading for another calamitous judgment w/ all of the transhumanism currently being explored.
The standard of judgment assumed in the question is the inquirer’s concept of what man believes should have been done. We are all good at making that assumption. Any time that someone does something differently from the way we would have done it we tend to leap to the conclusion that the actor was wrong.
Creation cannot tell the Creator what to do. God does things with righteous judgement. How can a piece of art judge its artist for whom made it or how can a child judge its parents for thier disapline and he/she was born from them? Wherever wickedness abounds, God will address it with rationality and discretion. Mankind cannot judge God for how can the imperfect judge the perfect? God weighs mankind’s heart based on how unrighteous or righteous they are.
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” This is what I keep thinking when I hear this. I have been brought up as a Catholic and have always had questions about the Bible and man’s role as the author and human interpretations of GOD’s inspiration. I understand GOD owes us nothing. What I do not understand is if GOD then kills you by suicide bomber or any other killer, why would that person have committed murder and acted in sin and sent to Hell if “GOD WILLED IT.” Especially if you lived a GOOD Christian life and GOD is to be our protector. Then you say GOD lives in seasons and subject to change but in other parts of the Bible it is said the GOD is constant and never changes. Is that then not your interpretation of GOD’s actions through the Bible? Does this also mean that GOD is the instigator of sin in some cases when it serves Him (like Job), the very thing He punishes us for committing? Then when I ask these questions Christians say that I am an enemy of GOD or guided by Satan by asking them questions on what they just say that the Bible states (the book that is to be GOD’s word and will). That right there is straight forward confusion and chaos.
This response may only make sense to Christians, but it may not make sense to unbelievers. As a Christian, the correct response to this question should be, “I don’t know why God does what He does. God works in mysterious ways.” Believing is an act of faith, and it requires one to believe WITHOUT seeing. If everyone could see God with their own eyes, then there wouldn’t be a “faith” requirement. In Genesis 15:6 we are told that Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
Repost for mittens: “He was creating a “nest” to send Himself to as a human being, ready to die for us. It was a one step at a time process. Besides, Israel was supposed to be winning converts also, they just found it hard to do it, in such a cruel & fallen world as it was. Those were the days before Christian believers began to preach & melt the hard hearts…”
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. Lamentations 3:33 For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone. Ezekiel 18:23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live? John 3:16 For God so loved THE WORLD that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. A Final thought, why would Jesus include in the Our Father Prayer “Your Kingdom come Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” if His will was already always being done.
I respect John Piper and hear his sermons often. His answer to this question though is not that quite accurate and can frighten even believers to question God’s commands. I strongly recommend reading the book”did God really command genocide?” By Copan and Flannagan, as they are taking much care to deal with this topic. After reading the book you’ll have a much better understanding. We are talking about hyperbolic texts, remnant of peoples staying in Cannan before Joshua actually entered the country, how does genocide is defined etc. Strongly encourage reading the book. Nonetheless Mr. Piper outlined some truths: God doesn’t owe us anything, he has right to take life and give life. That’s okay.
The default of man is to judge God by man’s carnal and lustful desires, mainly to be gods. “All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.” Ecclesiastes 1:8-10 KJV And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:16-17 KJV “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”” Genesis 3:15 NKJV The serpents (satan’s) seed Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:44 KJV The woman’s Seed (Jesus) Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 KJV “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
The thought and knowledge that one action that I do has the potential to affect hundreds of people, probably more…way more, shows me that God is in control of everything and that this universe does not revolve around me. There’s so many people that teach In a way to make us feel comfortable in our pagan society and with our sins, and real Christianity is so rare in America! This is a good message that I wish I really had the spirit of God to understand earlier in my life as a “Christian”
Very interesting and agree totally with the reasoning, (even if some phrases may have been chosen a little better)…… until the little assertion in the last few moments that the OT justifies the death penalty today. Would be really interesting to hear Pastor JP unpack that a little more to understand his position….. and not just in a 5 minute soundbite.
Pastor John makes the case that God as creator and sustainer has absolute right to give or take life – as harsh as it may seem. For us to impute evil and injustice to God we must look in the mirror to see that we are free from hypocrisy. Do we condone the taking of fetal life – right up to the point of birth? Do we, in so approving, inflict pain, trauma and mutilation on this tiny helpless creature? In addition, man uses sentient creatures ( that feel pain and trauma) to be harvested for food and used in science laboratories for all sorts of painful experiments. Yet in these instances, we, in general, don’t bat an eye. If we can justify man’s behaviour to abort fetal life (often feeling and mutilation) and impose pain and death through experiment on sentient creatures BECAUSE WE ARE SUPERIOR to them, how can we fault God doing similarly, considering God is INFINITELY SUPERIOR to man?
0:56 You have the power to disobey God – forfeit what God wanted to with your life – and make choices that will lead to your death including the death of innocent children. God thinks globally in ways we can’t. We may be offended that in the old Testament – God cursed future generations. But we never ask why? When God makes a decision to bless or curse – try to think globally and understand how bad behavior on Earth effects other people and also has spiritual implications in the heavens. Maybe a few generations unable to continue on the wrong path needed a few curses to protect themselves from worse ??? Also. God knows who’s going to serve Him and He knows who never will. You don’t think he factored you into His design and plan? I for one am looking forward to finding out who I really am. This tiny little blue planet – that if you were given specific instructions to find it – you’d never. Add up all it’s wealth if you can. Now compare it to stars and planets untouched – full of treasures we can’t concept. Spend your life trying your best to know God. Ask Him.
Thays an extreme example in a time where they were barbaric. It’s obvious that we dont stone women for this. In fact Jesus saved a women saying “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” We follow jesus the perfect being. Mosiac law was an extreme example in an extreme time to persuade people to not commit adultery.
The only reason why anyone can say something is objectively bad is because God exists and sets the moral standard. That means He cannot do evil things. You might not agree with His ways and justice, but He is just anyways. When your grandfather takes his last breath in his sleep at 92, God takes his life, but nobody says how bad God is for doing so. He can do the same to a 2 year old, He in fact, does not owe us anything, and wheter you live 10 years or a 100, all of those years are a gift from God He can choose not to give you. He also offers you eternal life after this one, with no suffering, but you dont accept it do you? So what are you angry about?
Yahweh is not the Father, but is Satan and one of the beasts, and he is who Jesus came to set us free from, the god of this world who blinds the minds of those who don’t believe. I know that a lot of atheism comes from reading the Old Testament and concluding that God is evil. In Christian tradition, Satan was a rebellious angel who wanted to be God and be worshipped as God. Let’s ask, if Satan wanted to have us worship him as God, what would he do? What he does is he speaks good and preaches righteousness but his actions give him away as the devil. “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” In John, we are told to test spirits to see whether they are from God. Here it says spirits that confess Jesus Christ are from God, but Yahweh never mentioned having a son and Jesus made it quite clear that his kingdom is not of this world, additionally Jesus tells us that no one has ever seen or spoken to God. Which is strange considering all of the times Yahweh spoke to Moses face to face on a creepy hilltop surrounded by clouds and darkness. What does Jesus do? He goes out and heals the sick and gives sight to the blind, feeds people who are hungry and he never punishes anyone or curses them. When a village rejected Jesus, his disciples wanted to call down fire from heaven to punish them, but Jesus rebuked them, “You know not what manner of spirit you are of.” So Jesus is the image of the Father, and who has seen him as seen the Father, then the Father does not call down fire on those who reject him.
Respecfuly i wish to express my bewilderment. Not that I will repeat Job’s mistake. Who are we after all and I’m extremely grateful for existing and for the things to enjoy. JUST trying to Understand the Ethics here… How is better for Joshua Slaughtering (by Order of the Enlighted Mind of the Highest) Way More Children and Women, than those that the Canaanites in their Ignorance, Offered to the Gods they Believe in, as a SACRIFICE (like Abraham was ready to do) per Divine Request??? No chance here of Enlightening those poor Souls, Were not they too made to the Image and Likeness? Weren’t the Hebrews supposed to Bring Salvations to the Nations by Showing Everybody the True Character of God? Because all I see is Conquering, Plundering, Slaughtering, Tricking, even when they are Obedient is because they are Killing everyone including Animals? Do Animals Sin too? Are also they Guilty? Despite being all powerful and not owing us explanations, He assumed the role of humanity’s Father. Didn’t Jesus said: what father would give a Snake when his Hungry Children Ask for Food? What about Hungry Israel in the Desert Receiving Snakes instead of Bread? For Complaining and Being Ungratefuls? Even we, imperfect lower beings do Not do that to Our Sadly often ungrateful Children. Because We Love Them… I respect everyone’s view, not trying to offend or be rude. Not even trying to Comprehend “The Ways of The Lord”. Just expressing my thoughts and questions.
As a Christian, I found John Piper’s response to this question quite disappointing. For anyone who needs a more nuanced answer to this difficult question, I’d recommend instead Dr. Theodore Cabal’s article on the Southern Seminary YouTube website titled “Why did God command the OT killing of women and children?” To the Desiring God team, I’d say that It’s one thing to rightly acknowledge God’s supremacy and sovereignty over His creation but it’s the callous delivery of Piper’s response that is problematic. Inherent in his response is a disregard for the very real struggle that both Christians and non-believers have when trying to reconcile divine violence with a loving God. Moreover, it glosses over the fact that violent judgment is something that God Himself expresses sadness and regret over – even if He must, at times, permit it or command it as part of His own administration of justice. For starters, in John Piper’s response, there’s no acknowledgment of how many Christians genuinely wrestle with divine violence in the OT. There’s no expression of horror at genocide, no sense of discomfort or sorrow at the slaughter of women/children and other atrocities – just a disturbing acceptance of it. Lest we comment about how things were different in Biblical times, even patriarchs like Abraham interceded with God and persuaded Him to spare whole cities from destruction. So many times in the Bible, God withheld violent judgment because sinful humans found it within themselves to show mercy and grace to their fellow man, to set an example of righteousness for those around them, to actively choose a higher way than the violent order that sin has produced in the world.
Sadly humans have killed each other using the God. Why can’t God appear when something is going against God’s(his/her) will? Is God responsible for pandemic? If not, why doesn’t God appear… when he can talk personally to some of the religious leaders(as they claim) then what makes so difficult for appearing.. I also believe in God, but all these questions remains unanswered… and they need an answer before the faith dies.
Ok Mr Piper, lets see if I get this right from all of the preaching you have done. The following is an honest representation of what you have been saying. To teach our children. Little Johnny, God has predestined the minority of people to be saved and go to heaven forever, and He has predestined the majority of people to be eternally damned and burn in the fires of hell. We have no idea, little Johnny, if God has predestined you to be forever damned or forever saved. We love you, little Johnny, but we accept the fact that God might not love you, and that He may have plans to send you to hell for your future sins. If you do find yourself one day burning in hell because He hasn’t elected to save you, just remember that we will always love you, even if God hates you. Take comfort knowing that we are not like God. We will be in heaven forever only because we were unconditionally chosen for salvation before we were born. That would be the only reason that we won’t be in hell with you if you find yourself there. It won’t be because of anything we did. So also take comfort in knowing that. It may not seem fair, but who are we to judge God? So again, if you find yourself in hell, remember that we will always love you as we forever worship the God who loved us but who hated you, the God who sent His Son to die for us but not for you. Please, we ask, don’t let it bother you—if you find yourself in hell—that we love the God who hated you and showed you no mercy. We must accept the fact that God is sovereign, and He does what He pleases.
So, God is the Creator, we are in debt to Him, not viceverse, Agreed. God is omnipotent, but there are limitations to His status too: -He can not Not-being-God -He can not Die -He can not Know everything -He can not be Not-good -He can not be Immoral -He can not be Unethical And the list goes on… On the other hand: -He is All Merciful -He is All Love -He Wiches Us the Best -He is Very Patient… All that said: How is Slaughtering Children that had Not Yet expressed their Own Will towards Good or Evil be Justified on Ethical Grounds, (no that He, All Powerful, Has to Explain Himself, but on the Grounds of the Moral Code He Commanded Us Abide for?) -I have been answered that He knew they’d be bad when adults. Well, He knew Hittler’s future and didnt sacrifice him as a baby… -Been answered also that humans need to suffer in order to learn… Well, is that the Best Solution of the Greatest Mind, or are we humans so imperfect that we only Learn by Punishment? I’d love to here arguments that enlighted my ignorance.
Who is Yahweh? Refer to 2 Samuel 24:1 “and again the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah” Now cross-reference this to 1 Chronicles 21:1 “And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel”. Also Gen 3:1-8 “Satan came in the form of a HISSING SERPENT”, Isaiah 7:18 “And it shall come to pass in that day, that YAHWEH shall HISS”. The mystery of the ages which has blinded and confused the Christian world these past 2000+ years is that the OT is a Jewish book of stories about 2 gods, their tribal god called Yahweh, and the true God, the Father which Jesus came to reveal and to save us from the condemnation of Yahweh. Why do you think Yahweh gave them the 10 commandments? The law kills like Paul said because it’s a setup! No one can keep them, so Yahweh is guaranteed to bring death to ALL mankind (The wages of sin is death). Jesus beat him at his own game by “fulfilling” all of them and being killed sinless! Why do you think Jesus rose from the dead? because he didn’t earn the punishment of death! Death could not hold him to any sin! There are two ways to know which god the OT is referring to at any time. 1. look at the original word for God, Lord, and see if it is Yahweh or EL (EL is the Father). 2. The Father (True God) is love, cannot lie, has no darkness in Him, does not want sacrifices, and much more, Yahweh is the complete opposite, he comes to steal, kill, lie and destroy. Look it up yourselves and be free of the religious matrix.
Where in scripture does it say that God is giving government the ability to be His instrument? considering the past instruments: His chosen people and His right hand. and not Romans 13: 1-2 which is talking about obeying the law. God gave a direct order to a person to do a specific thing. Not seeing how it’s the same.
This guy and the old testament authors do an excellent job of creating atheists. His view is: God made humans as broken sinners and he is a nice guy for not killing us immediately for not being perfect like him, and for being the way he made us. lol what a joke. POS god of iniquity. 2:11 “He never wrongs anybody” Tell this to the people who were born into the world with crippling pain and disabilities. My girl dog who passed away last year was born with arthritis. It was a pain for her to move most of her life. If God gives and takes, as these servants of iniquity so stupidly suggest, then how is giving painful health conditions at birth not doing somebody wrong? The answer is: This is just a world of causality that God does not guide. God does not give or take. God is not the author of sin, unlike their god is. Edit: He says that incest is ok… if god does it. Murder is ok… if god does it. “It’s ok if we do it!” This is called hypocrisy, oh god of iniquity. Just got done killing off your entire creation for not behaving the way you want? Not a problem, now with the powers of hypocrisy you can legalize incest for a time, but then illegalize it later. smh. Jesus said that the THIEF only comes to steal kill and destroy. The god of the old testament is the thief, is satan, who wants to be worshiped as God. He never corrected, guided, or redeemed people, he just stole, killed, and destroyed.
IF every single thing that happens on earth is God’s doing, then how is anyone sinning? If God is doing everything, how can we be sinning when we are doing EXACTLY what God is CAUSING to happen in our lives. So, In Jeremiah 7 God says, “People built places to sacrifice their children (in fire) to foreign gods, and He (God) says, “I did NOT COMMAND this, nor did it enter my mind.” So, who do we believe, Jeff Durbin, RC Sproul, James White, John Piper or God Almighty and His Holy Word, the Bible? So, while God does predestine some things, this verse says clearly NOT everything. It’s like a university predestining a football team but giving free will to players themselves to decide whether or not to come out for that team.
You’re describing a serial killer, not God. It’s not God that kills us every day. He made the laws of the universe and by these laws we function. The laws are part of his dominion but that doesn’t mean there’s the personal God thinking “hmm, I’m gonna take this child’s life right now.” God isn’t a man in the cloud. He isn’t bound by physical laws and the only thing we can do to understand a glimpse of the reality of His being is to learn “to be”. Prayer and meditation bring us closer to God, the One and Only Reality. Suffering is part of the world and the world is a temporary illusion, a test for us. Be patient, we will all return to Him. As for the passages that describe God as ordering the killings, remember, there’s much lost in the copying of the manuscripts, there’s additions and changes made in the Bible, don’t freak out – the ones who wrote these books of the OT didn’t write them to point out the theological nature of God, they wrote the stories according to different contexts. If you want to know about the justice of God, then you should focus on the book which are centered on theological and metaphysical descriptions, not on those focused on a war narrative.
The very first factor is that the very moment you born is to die. The life in between of your journey is the important parts. There are Christian themselves who claimed believe in God, yet they never followed what God commanded. Here on earth is not forever place to be, but it’s how we go by living lives here on this earth, will justify where we will end up next. Either how you want to look at, to take it, or to accept it or not it is have been set up this way, another way to look at it to make it simple for your understanding is that when you have your own children, you expect them to listen to you, period because you know what right and wrong.
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; God the Father, the One True God does not kill. Jesus told us who the Jews followed. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. There are 2 gods/Gods in the OT. Too long to explain here, watch the Good God YouTube website.
The amount of gymnastics apologists will do to defend their faith… The entirety of ezekiel is filled with cruel sentences for women and children. Ahola and Aholiba cruelly punished for being harlots, by the very Assyrians and Babylonians that commited harlotry with them. Why? Because the latter are idolators! But why punish the women instead of those that led them to a life of whoredom? And the cruelty for those two, children killed and things plucked off… By a god that made the infinite universe and billions of galaxies and stars and planets, anf that God is concerned about who someone has sex with? How stupid does one have to be to defend this kind of depravity?
Matthew 10: 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from YOUR FATHER’S WILL. Some will tell you it is the bird’s fault. But what about the greatest catastrophic event? Was God not in control of that? Matthew 10:34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. After God created all things and God saw that it was good (perfect) God planted a tree: “The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and EVIL.” Men did not know about evil but God did. Blasphemers are those that deny the Sovereignty of God. Iblīs was an Angel he was cast out of heaven because he argued with God why He created men who He made out of clay in His own Image with so much Glory. He said with more other angels to God: “You created them from clay and us from Fire why are we servants.” we should receive more glory than they. God’s anger arose and Fire came from His Nostrils. The anger of God was never seen before. Michael and the angels on God’s side started war and threw Iblīs and his followers out of Heaven. Due to his fall from God’s grace and jealousy he went to the earth to Paradise and deceived Adam and Eve to hurt God in the Crown of His creation. Iblis is often identified with Al-Shaitan (“the Devil”). The name Iblīs is derived from Ancient Greek διάβολος (diábolos). There was no Devil on day 6 when God saw that all he made was GOOD. If God did not predetermine things, God The Creator of Heaven and Earth could have thrown Iblīs In hell in the outer darkness or even destroy/ Annihilate him completely. But no God let him go to the earth take upon himself the form of a snake and deceive Eva and then Adam. God already had a plan of salvation from eternity past, that Christ our Lord would come and die for the sins of the world. The plan was not optional it was determent. When God planted the tree, God already knew that Eve would take from the fruit. God even made the fruit from that tree more attractive. It was because sin was needed for Christ to take upon Him humanity and die for the sins of the world. Creation was not finished on the 6th day but it will be when our Lord reveals the Glorious plan when the New Jerusalem comes down from Heaven. Joseph went to see his Brothers. What happened they were jealous of him being his dad’s favored kid. We know what happened he was sold as a slave to Egypt. He becomes the slave of Potiphar. His wife want Joseph in her bed. Joseph refusal end him up in jail where he reveals a dream and because of it he was called by pharaoh who also had a dream. He became the second ruler in Egypt. Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt because of hunger in the world. Was God in Control of that? Joseph tells his brothers Genesis 45:5 But don’t be upset. And don’t be angry with yourselves because you sold me here. God sent me ahead of you to SAVE MANY LIVES. 6 For two years now, there hasn’t been enough food in the land. It was God’s plan even the drought God could have given rain. God knew that the drought would force Jacob and his sons to Egypt and made Joseph go ahead of them. It’s clear this was the plan of God! Jacob went to Egypt to move there and see Joseph again. God did NOT tell Jacob to start a mission post in Egypt. Did they not need the faith of Jacob if God wants them Saved? But instead God gave them their own territory the land of Goshen separated from the Egyptians. The Israelites became Slaves for 400 years. This the Lord already told Abraham Genesis 15:13. It was not an option it was determent and instead of doing mission they started to serve the Idols of the Egyptians. God made pharaoh affright for the Israelites (or was it not God Who controlled even the tiniest thought of the Pharaoh if He can Harden his heart?) He started to kill every boy born to the Israelites. Because of it Moses ended up with the princes of Egypt and could have all the riches of Egypt but: Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, You get it God was in control of the weather and could have given rain so Joseph’s brothers would not have gone to Egypt. Also God did not have to send Joseph ahead. Pharaoh’s heart would not have been hardened and all first born in Egypt who did not know the left from the right hand not have died. All the calamities in the desert would not have happened. From the almost 2 Million people that left Egypt very few and only those born after leaving Egypt entered the promised land. What about all the first born in Egypt who died because God hardened the heart of Pharaoh. All the army of pharaoh drowned in the red sea without the Gospel. And the order of the Lord to kill each other after worship of the Golden Calf. 3,000 were killed by sword instead of a temporary punishment to give them time to repent and being forgiven. This worship was because they went to Egypt were they learned serving Idol gods. Was that a good reason for God to let them kill each other? Or did God not have to give an account to anyone for what He does? Daniel 4: 34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; 35 all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?” It is time for Leighton to come to this same conclusion Joseph being sold to Egypt and Just a period of drought created all this. Everything was God’s plan. All God’s thoughts and degrees are from eternity. If God is Confused then Arminian Leighton and the other Palagians or semi Palagians are Right. If God is the All Glorious Lord Creator and the Alpha and the Omega the Begin of all things and the Ruler of all the earth and Do whatever him pleases. Better remember what Happened to Iblīs I say Iblīs and not Lucifer because that is the King Of Babylon and a wrong translation of the word Morning Star. While all is translated in English it is left in Latin. Revelation 20: 1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more. Revelation 20:7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan WILL BE released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. “WILL BE” means it will happen BECAUSE of God’s Decree. Why now release Satan to deceive the nations? This lifetime is short and Hell is forever. Would you rather be presumptuous and not find out the truth. …Then the righteous will answer him, saying, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?” And the King will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:37-40) those being Saved by grace did not know that what they did that pleased God. They knew themselves to be undeserving sinners. Only on the day the New Jerusalem comes down from Heaven we sure will know 2 things <1> It was grace and grace alone I would have chosen dead if it would have been up to me. <2> What God our Lord did was the MOST perfect plan men could never even imagine before it was revealed in Eternity. What about 70 Million Buddhists in Thailand. 93% in Thailand are Buddhists and 5.5% Islam. Why??? If God wants all men to be saved, did God fail to bring the gospel there so they could chose to be Christian or Buddhist? One born into Buddhism has no choice but Buddhism, Only the conviction by The Holy Spirit can change hearts.
I posted this in response to a God apologist, who claimed that God does not let abortions happen but may let miscarriages happen. “@J C If it was in God’s plan to end the world and bring everything to judgement all along, and God is omnipotent and omniscient, and if the prevailing Christian thought is everything happens for a reason, then God is ultimately responsible for everything because if by ability God could have changed something but didn’t, then God chose not to do it means it was part of God’s plan. With great power comes great responsibility so if God is all-powerful then God is also all-responsible. Plus for a being that has a history of killing firstborn children (Egypt), instructing his people to commit murder for land grabbing purposes (Canaan), wiping out the world in a flood (Noah),just to name a few examples, I wouldn’t exclude miscarriages and abortions out of his responsibility.”
Some if not most people in our society feel that they are more important than others because of what happened in the past and also if the person didn’t do anything, they go by past things and also make people guilty by manipulation in America and abroad Also children and teens, they punish or set up to kill
I am a Christian, and I agree with the Buddhist understanding that one of the main purposes of this brief mortal life is to suffer. There are lessons we can only learn through pain and grief. Jesus said “Take up your cross and follow Me”. (The first great commandment is to love God and serve others. We must learn to forget ourselves. Deny our physical and even emotional wants/lusts) – We won’t fully understand until the hereafter why we go through all these earthly trials.
A God that lets innocent things die for reasons we cannot fathom, and when we question why we are told ‘it is beyond our understanding’? Sounds like, from our point of view, a chaotic and random god – what’s the difference between that and the chaotic, random universe we atheists are accused of believing in?
If this guy is right & it’s God’s will if we die from a bullet wound then nobody has any free will at all, especially since he created everyone along with their wills in entirety so the Calvinists must be right that we have no free will. However if you’re an atheist like me you’re 100% responsible for your brain functions therefore you’re as free from error as your brain functions allow you to be. – Hallelujah!
The best answer that makes sense for the slaughter of people as God commanded Joshua is found in Genesis 6 and Numbers 13:33. There were fallen angels (demons) who came and corrupted the seed of men. They are referred to as the Nephilim and appeared to be doing this intentionally to prevent there ever being the possibility of a Messiah. Jesus had to be born of an uncorrupted woman, and this was prophecied by God in Genesis 3:15. Her seed would bring forth the Messiah who would crush Satan’s head. You see in Luke 3 that Jesus descended from Noah, Abraham, and David. This line of descendants was promised that the Messiah would come through their line. Satan knowing this, would naturally want to corrupt this line and make it impossible for Jesus to ever come. These Nephilim people were living in Canaan when the Israelites arrived out of Egypt and Deuteronomy 25:17-18 says they harassed the Israelites even before they ever invaded their territory. They are the only people that God permitted to be annihilated and that’s because if they were successful at corrupting all human genealogy, then it would have spelled the doom of all of humanity. Satan’s tares would have pushed all the wheat out of the field, so to speak. Matthew 13. God already got all the tares out of the field once with the Genesis flood, but as we see in Numbers 13:33, some more got planted in. These were the sons of Anak and Amalek who in turn were descendants of Esau according to Genesis 36 (if that were their true ancestor, but that is in doubt due to what we learned in Genesis 6 and Numbers 13:33.
This is a simple might makes right viewpoint on a very relevant moral question. Think about this for a moment if the Biblical God is real and the one and only God and you’re a serial killer on death row all you have to do is say a few words of repentance and you get a free pass into heaven, thinking like this is to wilfully and ruthlessly turn a blind eye to the suffering, livelihoods and well-being of other human beings, it’s only concern is conformity under threat of eternal torment. Now is there the slightest verifiable, rectifiable, certifiable evidence for any of this, or is it just an arbitrary concept that has arisen out of an accident of culture, geographical location and propagation? Nobody here alive today or who has ever lived has chosen to exist, none of us have chosen to be born human just by random chance we are here that is not our fault, if you create a flawed creation, know full well what said creation is going to do and then get angry when they do it despite you knowing then that is just incompetence, immaturity and stupidity on your own part. This kind of faith is in essence the perfection of narcissism “God loves me so much, look how great he is, aww save me daddy”, its delusional, its blind to reality, why do people celebrate this as some sort of virtue?
God favors mercy over justice. But when His mercy is ignored for too long by people, judgement follows. It doesn’t matter to God who you are. The Israelites were used to cast judgement on the Canaanites, just as Assyria was used on Israel, Babylon on Judah, and Rome on Jerusalem. God told Abraham that his descendants would be taken captive in a foreign country (Egypt) for 400 years before He would allow them to return to Canaan because the iniquity of the Amorites (Canaanites) hadn’t reached its full measure. The Amorites had almost half a millennium to get their act together but they didn’t. Nineveh saved itself for a while by repenting of its sins and it was the capital of the cruelest gentile empire at the time in Assyria.
