This study examines the role of child-parent relationships in promoting a child’s development, drawing from cultural capital theory and longitudinal data from the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID). Four congruent parenting styles were identified: authoritative, positive, and permissive. The research focuses on discrete dimensions of parenting, providing greater specificity in understanding the relationship between parenting style and subjective well-being.
