Did Any Parents Stop Their Kids From Acting Like Jeffrey Dahmer?

Jeffrey Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, was an American serial killer and sex offender who killed 17 people. His father, Lionel Dahmer, was an American chemist and author known for his role in the murder of his son. Dahmer’s mother suffered from chronic mental illness, which led to his isolation and low self-esteem.

Dahmer’s father Lionel Dahmer is now 86 years old and has written a book about his experience being the father of a murderer. He also appeared in a series featuring several of Dahmer’s family members.

Dahmer’s parents have been accused of neglect during his childhood, leaving him to his own devices. His mother suffered from mental-health issues, and Dahmer felt isolated and alone. Despite this, his father Lionel Dahmer visited his son throughout his imprisonment and still loved him.

Shari Dahmer, Jeffrey’s stepmother, appeared to be very loving and fond of him. Although he wasn’t physically or emotionally abused, Dahmer was neglected by his parents. In an upcoming special, Jeffrey Dahmer revealed that he was given a couple of opportunities to stop his son’s murderous rampage.

In one interview with MSNBC, Joyce claimed that Dahmer was a normal young boy. Lionel wrote a memoir that took a painful and reflective look into how his son’s life unfolded.

  • Children’s services received a tip *SIX DAYS* before this little girl was “ever seen by doctors”. SIX DAYS!!??!! This child would be alive if these people would have done their damn jobs! With injuries like those being described, she would have been immediately removed and taken care of. This is SO infuriating!

  • When my daughter was around 18 months old she scooted herself off the kitchen counter while sitting in her table top chair. She fell on her head and passed out. I thought she died, she was fine and checked out ok at the ER. So imagine the force it takes to fracture a skull or cause a brain bleed. And I was hysterical yet in action, I got immediate help and my daughter’s health was most important. So, child abusers are awful, horrible people. That’s all…

  • I see this crap everyday. I work in the court system and I get so frustrated when DCFS doesn’t do something when a child is being legitimately abused. I see the parents get their kids even though it’s proven they’re abusive. The system wants to keep families together. Well, sometimes that doesn’t work and it’s wrong.

  • I hate when children’s services drags their feet when a child or children are in extreme danger. I’ve seen it happen way too much, unfortunately. This is so sad & tragic. No child should EVER suffer these kinds of injuries. What could a child ever do to warrant this? Absolutely nothing. All a child does is look up to you for love & support & want to please you. This is devastating & disgusting. There is no way a parent wouldn’t notice injuries this extensive, unless they just did not care or were responsible. 😔😠

  • The ABSOLUTE EPITOME of ” Not MY FAULT ” . That last comment about — How could you do this to ME, is the PERFECT example of someone who is unwilling to accept responsibility for her actions ( or lack thereof ) . Maybe 30 years in prison will help her understand more clearly how a mother is supposed to care for their offspring !!!

  • A report six days before? Guarantee you that baby had plenty of marks six days before they could’ve prevented this if they would’ve done their job. It’s a problem with these child protective workers that these children are being further neglected by everyone, including those charged with protecting them! Lots of attention after it’s to late!🙄

  • So sick of hearing her fake cry feeling sorry for herself, then asking why someone would do this, and her annoying squealing acting like someone else killed her baby. And how mad she claims to be about it. Then has the nerve to blame the detective saying he did this to her. I hope in prison they have a field day with this child killer.

  • Child Protective Services are a scapegoat for a bigger concern which is our society does not want to really embrace the idea that the fragmentation of the family through divorce and substance abuse and mental health and families being less cohesive are really the issue. Without question CPS and government cannot do a better job than a family that sticks together to help its own. Government is being asked to be substitute parents which it is not equipped to do but tries valiantly to do so.

  • Why do these CPS people talk so nonchalant about all this with the cop?! It’s infuriating listening to that woman talk about the child like she’s nothing. “I’m curious to see the skeletal findings” or whatever she said… like she’s excited about it!! No compassion whatsoever. She should have been ashamed of not checking on her sooner. It’s no wonder these kinds of cases continue to happen!!! It’s like every story similar to this ALWAYS has CPS “involved” and they do NOTHING!!!

  • So children and youth got a report 6 days prior about the abuse and this girl could have been saved and yet no one from children ans youth did a proper investigation at the home wtf is wrong with our child protection system there so quick to come when they here about an addict around there child jist not quick for child abuse calls like wtf is wrong here.

  • The mother’s crying statement that she “would give her life” for her daughter’s just stabbed my heart. As a mother who actually would have jumped in front of the DUI driver that killed my 16yr old, this infuriated me like you wouldn’t believe! Hearing the gruesome, traumatic, severe, disturbing detailed torture this poor baby went through, makes me physically sick 😫 Im literally shaking, crying and feel like I will puke. Many MOTHER’S have died saving their children and there is no way this woman should be a mother! MOTHER’S protect their children. Poor sweet innocent baby was failed by her own mother, family, and CPS, DCFS, whatever child agency their county or state has!

  • “Counseling is supposed to help, but I am not going because I don’t think it will. I’m losing my mind.” Such a telling line; zero sense of personal responsibility, impaired judgment, poor insight. Every time she talks about her baby, she talks about HERSELF and her loss of experience over her daughter’s: I will never get to see her get married…her birthday is 5 days after mine” ME ME MEEEEEEE. Well, Ellie will never get to be married, and she will never get to celebrate Christmas.

  • All I hear is me, me, me. “I won’t… I can’t… I, I, I…” She does say, this is key, “I didn’t do it to (unalive) my baby.” She’s subconsciously admiting she did do something but it wasn’t intentional to unalive the child. She’s only crying or shows any anger when she’s talking about what future things she will lose out on. She wants answers that fit her narrative and points at others so that she has someone else to blame to make herself feel better. Gotta love (🤬) the attitude at the end, “Why did YOU do this TO ME!” It’s still all about her!

  • My heart goes out to the medical staff. It’s just devastating to see a child in that state. I have reported many kids over the years as an ER doc. I have one case though that the injuries on that baby still haunts me to this day. It’s the only case I’ve ever had to testify in court on. I wish the emergency workers well. We maintain our composure, but seeing a baby like this is incomprehensible. ❤

  • As a former foster child, the system is so messed up. Social workers are incredibly over worked, my social worker had over 40 kids to keep track of, which includes monthly visits, going to court, and communicating with each child’s lawyer at and SO much more. We need more social workers and taxpayers need to prioritize social services to prevent tragedies like this.

  • Im not surprised CPS failed this child. It happens WAY too much. If CPS would have acted 6 days ago when they got the call the baby might be alive today. The mother’s lies are making me so angry 😡 “She woke up with a knot on her head”, yeah I’m sure the doctors and detectives are believing that 🙄 “She might have lupus so she bruises easily”. Another one of her mother’s ridiculous lies.

  • My son scooted off the bed one morning at five am. As scared as I was he had no bruising just cried for a minute then back to trying to grab our dog. I still took him to the ER to just get checked out. If your kid is bruised up wouldn’t you call their PCP. If you think the neighbors are hurting your child care more about them than her own mental health ❤️

  • Strange that she would know about “posturing”. Not many people know about that, and it’s implications, outside of the medical field (I was a medic in the USAF and that how I know about it). Posturing is a sign of a head injury. It was also a bit odd that she would be “checking her pupils” bc that, again, is something one would do to determine if a head injury is present. So is the “snoring” (but she DIDN’T know that). When the patient is posturing, snoring, AND has unresponsive pupils, they are in grave condition. She should have been at the ER LONG before she was actually taken (and 911 should have been called)

  • Wow how disgusting not only will she not take accountability for her own actions but she’s literally trying to get somebody else thrown in jail for this. What a selfish disgusting woman. Even if it was Kevin and Michelle, you would think if your kid came back with bigger and bigger bruises every time they went to somebody’s house, you would quit sending them to that person’s house. She makes no sense

  • I think its time for CPS reform. Its sickening that these people are allowed to have their babies even when CPS sees their injuries, their parents neglect, etc. Its SICKENING. Rest in Heaven sweetest little angel. I wish I had the greatest opportunity of knowing you because I know that I wouldn’t have failed you, sweet girl.

  • Incomprehensible CPS negligence is not even a strong enough comment. THEY should be tried for this child’s death. Could the CPS worker wearing the “Indiana ” sweatshirt be any colder?! Reading horrific facts off her phone, and stating she can’t wait to see autopsy reports because the injuries were so severe!

  • This is really really bad acting, the faux outrage and pretend crying, no Oscar wins here! Something oddball about this woman, a personality maybe but she is way off. Would be interesting to know her background and her life as a child….. she comes across bpd or sociopathic. The whole crying whining is ALL about her

  • There should be a US petition & case brought up against the head of CPS, DCF & any others all across the US to change the system DRAMATICALLY. New laws written they have to be correctly staffed, trained, even rewards, promotions for saving children & getting them in permanent safe circumstances. Just HUGE changes. Poor baby, she is no longer in pain now & truly loved with our Father. 🙏❤️✝️

  • CPS involvement now, why? The child is dead, so what are they going to do? It’s a frikkin homicide and the CPS worker read off their FAIL, big time. Six days ago isn’t “a few days ago” and all of these injuries didn’t occur in one day. These workers are taught that bruises on a toddler’s face need to be compared to the adult’s version of how they occurred. Multiple facial bruises from a fall out of bed – nope. And a number of bruises appeared old, she said. WTHH!

  • CPS worker: We had a report… made… a few days ago… for… mom, oh yeah you have that, we had a report on… um… staying with… andd that… we had a report on the… umm… so we have address… and then.. um.. and this was for… drug use and umm… bruises… report from people…. and… Omg speak! She is talking like she is describing what she had for lunch 😠🙄

  • Way too many CPS workers, Fail these kids!! So many do a check and dont even talk to the kids, some don’t even see the child, they just go off the parents saying, oh he/she isn’t feeling well, they are sleeping, or they are just fine, see…no bruises on face, and instead of actually checking, they leave and close it, not bothering to check anymore, and Boom, child winds up dead, covered in massive bruises and injuries!! CPS Fails these children far more than they Help them!!

  • And this my friends is another example of why the system is broken. DCFS received tips six days before the child died. SIX DAYS. Not to mention, even if the child did survive the foster care system is a whole other broken system. – We need harsher punishments for child neglect, endangerment, murder etc. Essentially any charge harming a child tbh.

  • ‘My Friend Dahmer’ is a great read. His parents always put themselves before their son. They never noticed he was drinking all day every day, they never noticed he had no true friends, they both abandoned him – his mother even taking his younger brother and leaving him alone for months in the family home after making him promise not to tell his absent father she’d gone. Truly terrible parents.

  • People take their kids for granted thinking things will settle without too much involvement of their own, so they send them to sports practice, music schools, just to let someone else deal with them instead of themselves. Kids get to meet and hang out with people their parents don’t know anything about, or their families. So they go through puberty without the family having any idea about their convictions, identity or values, like sexual orientation, ideology, social circles etc. And when the daughter ends up pregnant at 18 or the son turns into a drug addict/serial killer/school bully, they act all surprised. I have no sympathy at all, parenting takes pedagogical talent. Just because your ovaries work, doesn’t imply you’ll make a good mother.

  • Shyness has nothing to do with it. Millions of people are shy and don’t do this. Jeffrey was a psychopath, and there is not much anyone can do but get psychiatric counseling once that is expected, usually when it’s too late. This was all genetics. Shyness might be but one of many many symptoms, but don’t automatically single someone out because they are quiet and shy, it would be stereotyping. What Lionel is not telling you, and what Jeffrey was very disappointed in is father when he wrote the book and disclosed was that Jeffrey’s mother was schizophrenic, and she passed those bad genes down to Jeffrey.

  • When they say “we didn’t KNOW…..” says it all, they were completely absent parents that weren’t involved in their sons life without giving him love, guidance and all the things it means to be a parent. Left to basically raise himself without normal human connection he was more like an animal…spending his life hunting and killing!! should be a great example of what happens when people have children who shouldn’t !! We’re the only living creatures on the planet that senselessly kill our own kind!!

  • a combination of a mother taking massive amounts of mind altering medication during pregnancy and neglect from everyone in his life through childhood. That’s a pretty good start to a pychpathic recipe. This man was deeply depraved of motherly love. I’m not saying anyone depraved of motherly love is going to commit such acts but childhood trauma manifests in different ways into adulthood. We must love our children unconditionally.

  • The scene when they tell his father in the docuseries made me so sad. I’m sure his parents made mistakes but his dad’s pain was palpable. He couldn’t conceive that it was real but he knew it was. Poor guy, I’m glad he openly acknowledged signs that he wish he saw. Bless them despite their mistakes, they didn’t deserve to have a son like that…

  • I really think, they knew something was very very bad with his son since childhood, it’s sad to said it but they were uncomfortable around his son, they maybe like him but feel off for them, so instead to help him or try to seek help, they avoided him because very deep inside they knew that he wasn’t normal at all and they didn’t know how to handle this problem.

  • I wonder what makes a child shy. Is it because the parent of the child sent some kind of message to their kid that they were not accepted by the parent? Maybe the parent was cold towards them making the child feel that the world was unsafe. Normally adjusted kids don’t seem to fear rejection but shy kids appear to expect it. My youngest sister was so shy that teachers thought she had a learning disorder. I am the oldest and I was very shy but not to the point I would not go to camp. My sister would vomit over the thought of getting on the bus. I do know my parents fought with each other a lot . My father lost his temper and hit me a lot. He did not talk to us in any positive manner. He constantly would tell our mother to do something about these kids. We are not serial killers but were very shy children. At age 46 I stopped talking to my father because of his abusive behaviors.

  • I feel Netflix gave him what he wanted in the end.. Notoriety. Netflix have portrayed him to be some nice guy who got lost somehow because his parents divorced?? I have known some children to go through much worse including being exposed to sexual abuse but they have not gone out to commit these kind of crimes. They are portraying that this is combination of learning about road kill and being abandoned at the age of 17 (an adult in the US) but I think there may have been some underlying Mental Health condition that has not been picked up.

  • After looking at this and the new series on Netflix I think the alleged mental illness of his mother should be researched more. His father admitted he had some sick fantasies but what about the mother? It was written in the movie how she was on pills for anxiety and bipolar activity and how the dad blamed her for their son turning out bad? Too sad

  • Good for him, this father, for finding a way to help the future of our world in hopefully a positive way, by using his voice and public interest in him to use this negative horrible situation to help others in the future potentially stopping child becoming a violent adult… We won’t really ever be able to know which parent heard his interviews and took note& possibly steered their kid down a different path, which they wouldn’t have had the tools to do if they didn’t listen to this .. Good for him

  • This old man is an example of narcissistic father. His words doesn’t match with his action! He keeps playing the victim card and throwing guilt to his son and ex wife. Hopes to get simpathy from people and be seen as good, nice, poor and innocent dad. Nobody’s born as monster or evil person. It is made and created by people around the person (parents, family, teachers, friends, society).

  • Honestly, Lionel Dahmer is FULL of it. He DIDN’T speak to his son, and try and help him come out of his shell etc. Why? Because the same time as Dahmer’s Mum went off (taking his younger brother with her), Lionel was off with his new girlfriend! And Jeffery was all alone in a house in the middle of nowhere. Lionel LOVES to blame Jeffery’s Mother for EVERYTHING, saying she had mental health issues, her pregnancy was abnormal, saying that she would “foam at the mouth, like a DOG”, having “seizures”, he wrote an entire book throwing Joyce Dahmer under the bus. Hmm, now Why would a man do that to his EX-Wife?… The truth is, Lionel Dahmer was an emotionless robot who was Just as checked out of Jeffery’s life as his wife was. But the difference is that HE wrote a book about it, and because he was a MAN, and a ‘Professional’, having a PhD, whereas she was a Woman, a Stay-at-home Mum, who had mental health issues, and because she died relatively early on in the case, and Lionel outlived her and could go on every documentary from then until now, HE got to set the narrative. And thus it’s Joyce Dahmer’s fault for Everything, it’s laughable

  • Correct me if I’m wrong but there’s a phase I think many kids go through with being fascinated with what makes things work, insects etc. if they are not supervised carefully. I can remember finding daddy long legs, harvestmen, crane flies, ants and pulling the legs off of a harvest man and perusal the body wiggle and at that very moment feeling revulsion and remorse. After doing this a few times I realised only at that point that it terminated the creature and I felt terrible remorse and spent the rest of my life trying to save everything. I think it varies. I would have been about three/four years old. To this day I don’t like hurting insects and it goes on to the larger creatures of course. I’m still sorry about hurting those few.

  • I always wondered if Jeff’s parents were abusing him or molesting him . There’s always been a weird thing about them, especially in the interviews before this one when they were asked difficult questions. I saw an interview a few years back and they’re definitely a lot weirder in it and bizarre in their behavior

  • He had no clue? Bull, I watched this article, I heard him speak over an over about all the things Jeffery did, the drinking, the reclusive behaviour, being critically shy, finding dead animals and having his way with their dead carcasses, layers of debauchery! And then saying he didn’t know until later on, bull!! His father is and was a pacifist! A creature that just didn’t have anytime for his own kids!! Ranting about Jeffery sex drive and how his hormones were raging!! Give me a break! His father saw many red flags and did nothing!! Bc all he care about was himself!! After his wife left him to ” find herself” the bed didn’t stay cold long with this new squeeze! And she’s just as empty headed as he is!! Oh well, guess it doesn’t matter now his son is dead, this could of all been prevented! I mean we all make mistakes in life we’re not perfect parents, wives, husbands, and so on, but this is over the top!! I blame his father and selfish mother!!

  • His dad or mother never knew about the animals and the dad said none of his friends did yet that’s a lie because we know his friends knew he had a camp with the animals skulls and bones even a cemetery with skulls on crosses so that’s just one lie from the dad and mum ..they have more to answer for then they are admitting too..

  • Interesting, cause the new series made it seem like, as if the father showed jeff, how to dissect roadkill and thats why his interest grew in this area. Now im a huge fan of Jennifer Lynch, she really did an awesome Job directing this, but as of now, im a bit confused. Or did the dad later on in his life admit to doing this and thats why it was showed in the series?

  • I think he must have had all the big psychiatric diagnoses combined . Psychopathy, autism, borderline, schizophrenia, ADD, you name it. Psychopathy and autism are the most dangerous combination because then you have the emotionless risktaking coldness and the systematic thinking to calculate stuff in detail. And the schizophrenia makes you a dreamer believing in higher spirits. Borderline makes you vulnerable and strong at the same time. ADD makes you impulsive and ready to take the chanses when they show up even how bad the moment is.

  • Obviously Jeffrey was a cold blooded killer but I do think it was his parents who shaped him into that. Im not saying it’s completely their fault but Jeffrey’s mother was extremely neglectful and abusive and she abandoned him when he was just 18. His dad also left and he was alone in the house for 3 months with no social interaction at all. And when he was 7 his dad taught him how to cut up dead animals. Really, what do you expect for your child to turn out like if you teach them that stuff. He let his own 7 year old child touch animals bones and organs. Which not to mention can carry deadly diseases. Jeffrey’s mother took all sorts of pills while pregnant with Jeffrey which is the probable cause for why he turned out the way he did. The reason David turned out a normal kid was because he didn’t touch dead animals and was literally given more attention. Jeffrey said he started resenting David because his parents gave him more attention. They “didn’t have time” for Jeffrey but had time for David? Doesn’t make sense. So for you to say that it wasn’t their fault whatsoever just baffles me.

  • This dude is trying to find an easy way out. Saying because Jeffrey was a loner and shy created him to be a serial killer and a cannibal is a cop out. I learned behind every narcissist who lacks empathy, compassion and social awareness is a person that enabled their behavior. There were many signs (constantly getting fired, discharged from the military, killing animals, can’t keep a job) that he had issues but I think our society has a “boys will be boys” attitude and think they’ll “grow out of it”

  • Here is my 2 cents- A parent can be a horrible parent but that will never be an excuse for someone to be a monster. He still was educated enough to know right from wrong so everything he did was truly just wicked. His dad (as shown on the series) did everything he could to have Jeffrey on the right path and he screwed that up every chance he got. I do believe some people are just truly born evil, of course the right guidance and nurture can prevent a lot but only so much a parent or family can do for someone who does not care to be helped, the human brain just needs to be studied more when it comes to the compulsions bc truly everyone has them but not everyone feels empathy like Jeffrey in this case nor can they control them. Imagine someone with anger issues or extreme depression, it can’t be controlled without medication his case is very similar just not enough study. Sad reality but that’s the world we live in and I can’t imagine how many other “Jeffrey’s” we have in our corners. We just need to continue to be woke in every situation as best as possible

  • Nobody is going to say that he is an exemplary father, but seriously it is quite disgusting how there are people who literally also call for his head, totally convinced that he is also guilty of those deaths, despite the fact that he several times assumed responsibility for his son. But that is quite different from wanting to blame him for the 17 deaths as well.

  • He was a evil fuck, but his mother was on like 20+ pills when she was pregnant with him and God knows what else, can’t be good for a child growing inside you? It’s hard too say what made him that way because alot of these killers had perfectly normal and loving up bringings, I think it will always be a mystery

  • I’ll be honest, the one thing that always made me happy about my kids was seeing the moment I knew that they were animal lovers. If it would’ve been the opposite, red flags would’ve gone up everywhere, lol. I’m not necessarily an “animal lover…” But I just know it’s a telltale sign when they hurt them.

  • I don’t feel bad for PARENTS THAT IGNORE THIER CHILDREN WHEN THEY TELL THEM THAT THEY HAVE BEEN MOLESTED AND DONT BELIEVE THEM. HE GOT MOLESTED AT 8. THIS ACT ALONE MADE JEFFERY DAHMER WHO HE WAS AND KEPT ON LOOKING FOR SOMONE NOT TO ABANDON HIM. I DONT FEEL SORRY FOR THEIR PARENTING. STOP DOING PARENTS!!

  • Hmm…well his dad was very religious and in the stone Phillips interview said he didn’t accept homosexuality… and if yiu kbow tge story like i do..dahmers first victim was in 78..outta highschool….and from there he found god wheh he moved in with his grandmother in west allis Wisconsin….but he fell inti going to bathhouses drugging ppl…and by 87 was back to killing..from there he went on his spree killing 15 more men till he was caught… i was 18 in 1991 when they caught him….ill never ever forget this story….

  • I feel bad for the victims, and their families. I feel bad for Glenda Cleveland who called the police several times to warn them only to have police disregard her warnings. I feel bad for Black men and women who were treated by police with disrespect and no care because they are Black. Police negligence, racism, prejudice allowed Dahmer to continue to commit murder and gruesome acts against his victims’ bodies.

  • Shit, I clipped my Yorkies nail too close and it bled. I literally freaked out and started crying. I saw her be so calm in my boyfriends arms as I felt like shit worried I caused her pain. My BF had to calm me and remind me she’s not crying or trying to resist. But man, my heart sank . I can’t imagine hurting animals

  • I had drug addicted parents. My mother got clean, my father continued to drink so they split when I was 3. My father found God and got clean when I was 7..he died that same year from an aneurysm. My mother who suffered from her own trauma as a child couldn’t deal w my father’s death relapsed when I was 12 and died of drugs when I was 14. I had no brothers or sisters. I went to live w my aunt who was a functioning alcoholic. It didn’t go well. I work n try my best for my 3 kids. I wish I had Dahmers childhood.

  • We are missing something. Jeffreys ex boyfriend said Jeffrey had said his father sexually abused him until he was 16. That would make everything make sense…. How on Earth could a father not know his son has multiple decomposing bodies in his house? If he is as active and commited as a father as he says he is to the media, he should have had some idea of his son’s state of living. If he was a chemist he would have identified the smell of decomposing flesh instantly, from the apartment. Looks to me like Mr Dahmer SNR abandoned his young son and ran away/turned a blind eye to clear mental health issues.

  • Still not 100% sure what I think of Lionel. His mother on the other hand, she’s just cringe. And quite the narcissist. Just watch her interview with stone. It’s quite the lengthy one but worth a watch. this is quite the interesting interview that’s for sure. The ones I truly feel sorry for are the victims and their loved ones and Families. 💔

  • Collecting roadkill isnt a red flag. If i ever hit an animal with my car i take it to some nice place and give it a burial with small cross so if someone sees it theyll know that its someones loved pet or similar. If they just saw a small fresly dug place they might dig it and hope its a hidden cash I cant just leave them to rot.

  • Last thing I’m going to say all y’all on this thread that are actual parents act like y’all know every single thing y’all kids are doing. WELL YOU DONT. So STOP WITH THE YALL PERFECT PARENTS CRAP AND KNOW YALL KIDS EVERY MOVES. If that’s the case wouldn’t be so many missing dead kids mass shootings the list goes on.

  • ************This is not a made up story that I am about to tell you, it happened to me************** I think documentaries about serial killers should be watched because I was the only child of my parents, dad was abusive and I was a society outcast too and bullied in school as well, I started with torturing chickens and animals but I never killed animals until when our house was changed and I got really alone in new Town, lost my friends and then i started killing and torturing toads but then my parents got me a cat and that cat really took away all my depression and loneliness and then I randomly watched documentaries of serial killers and one thing that scared me was that most of them had almost the same childhood backstory that I had. I was lucky that my mom loved me otherwise who knows how I will turn out. My favorite Physics teacher with whom I spend a lot of time and he was favorite of most of the class students, he had more tragic childhood story and one day when i was in college we read the news in papers that a mutilated body in bags was found underneath his Bathroom. We were shocked that how could that guy do it, we also went to his home few times, he was nice and friendly we talked about movies and stuff, we played football together. At the end I would say the real Monster are the Parents and the Society, not saying that killers are 100% innocent but the real killer of the victims were these parents.

  • Sorry if I sound rude but I feel something dirty about them I don’t know why. but especially he’s father. But I don’t blame them about what happened to Jeffrey.(That’s Jeffrey fault) I think the parents Has skeletons in the closet ( not literally tho but issues) something off about them in this interview.

  • If it walk like a duck quack like a duck and look like duck. It is a duck. Parents knows when their kids has issues they turn their heads because they don’t want to deal with it..From the day your child was born you pick up all their habits and lies and manipulations. There isva saying *you know your child**

  • Shyness has NOTHING to do with it. People are born shy and usually don’t speak much, but they feel much and are very sensitive. In fact, I think children born shy are smarter than their outgoing conterparts because they instinctually and already know humans can be evil and can hurt you, so be careful around them (people).

  • For me most surprising is he gets a lots of letter saying Jeff is their super hero n calling themselves his fan. This is another level of psycho. I feel those who wrote him must be enjoying killing peoples n who know they also killed Some one too. 😡😱 My Condolences to all the victims families ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • His father didn’t make Jeff cold blooded and secretly volatile. Jeff’s mom did, with all the evidence that showed in his childhood, parents make there children feel abandoned growing up, so Jeff was doomed to become what he was, an Outsider, a outcast of society, a shy person ( massive red flag), a person with very few to no friends, a man whose only escape from the real world is a can of alcohol to drown his sorrows. Jeff was doomed from the start of his life, because he didn’t know how to be normal in real life, he just couldn’t be normal because he didn’t know how to be normal. Because his childhood made him a monster.

  • lionel dahmer really feels bad, and Jeff’s brother really distanced himself from his brother. like, who knows people on here has a relative who does deviant behaviors who will harm innocent people. Jeffery was finally caught in the end… but with many killings and as john Wayne Gacey as well for his mass killings.

  • His father was the first one to abandon him. He started is fascination with dead animals. Parental conflict has been linked to increased aggression, delinquency, and conduct problems involving children. Additionally, children are more likely to have social problems and increased difficulty in adjusting to school. Not to mention that he lied to the police in his first interrogation trying to cover it up. He also refused to allow them to study is brain. Just think his brother did not turn out no where next to like him. What was the it factor? The father did not play a role in his brothers life. Only God knows if that man gave him beer at a young age or what he did to him. Jeffrey was afraid of him and love him enough. If there was other issues Jeffrey would coverd it up.. Jeffrey showed all the signs of a child needing help/abuse yet his father did not get if for him. The system failed him and his parents did. After being arrested three times previously for sexaul crimes you would think prenatal denial would not be an issue. He need help from a young age. This father definitely help crate a monster.

  • Don’t disregard shyness???? My children are extremely shy and I am ok with it . What I am not not ok is making the children feeling abandoned and unloved !!!! Sad that they never knew his son till the multiple murders . To born the child is so easy but taking the responsibility for it ….. ???However to many human being became successful even though they came from divorce parents as well . Too many people born with mental disability but they did not end up being killer. What does it say about it?

  • Things cannot be black and white irl. What Jeffrey did were inexcusable, but the root cause of it all was bc of his lack of parents’ ATTENTION amplify it with sociopathic genes and reserved nature. Dahmers love their son, but they didn’t give him the attention and supervision to help him when he’s lost. Because I can relate (although not to the killing/sociopathy), growing up with parents who love me but give me no attention, by the time I turned adult I lacked a lot of basic soft skills needed to function in society, that I have to learn by myself by my own volition. Bottom line is : be VERY attentive to your children and make them feel safe and be honest about ANYTHING. If you cant promise to do that then don’t have children

  • people have to realized that kids as they grow old they become a separte individual.. capable of doing anything.. thia isnt the fault of the parents… this only shows that a killer can be jist anyone.. it doesnt have to be raised by bad parents.. nor had experience traumatic experiences etc… it is in our DNAs.. we have inner demons among us and we only differe on how strong we are to keep them calm..
