Why Is My Thing Moving The Blender Because Of Parenting?

In Blender, objects can be parented to another object in the relations parent field, which places the object in its parent coordinatesystem. To parent objects without switching places, use Ctrl+P and shift+P to rewrite the location. To parent an object with a bone that is not in Rest pose, select the bone in Pose mode and reset its location, rotation, and scale using altG, altR, altS.

When assigning child and parent connections from the ‘Icing’ and ‘Bun’ objects, the icing moves around on its own. Parenting (Alt-P) in an Object to Object heirarchy takes the Object Center and origins of both objects as reference points. To parent laces to the bones, unparent them with Alt P and use the Clear and Adjust functions.

Vertex parenting enables mesh parts to move independently while maintaining overall spatial relationships, generating more realistic and organic results. Blender connects objects using parenting, a technique that links one or more objects to a controlling parent.

When parented to an armature, the object moves the orange dot when moved, and it gets the bone when moved. When parented to a bone, the object stays where it is and inherits later transformations of the parent bone. However, changing the parent via the properties panel always clears the parent inverse matrix, which causes the jump.

When parenting an object to a bone, the object is wrongly offset from its previous position. To move a child object to its parent, clear its origin, and select the child object and parent object. To parent objects, select at least two objects and press Ctrl – P.

  • What about when i change the mesh in edit mode? How do i get the child objects to move along with the movement of the mesh changes that i do in edit mode? If i have a jacket with zippers on the sleeve, how to i get the zippers to stay in the same place on the sleeves when i go into edit mode and rotate the jacket sleeves from being down at my avatar’s side, and move the sleeves up into a “T” position? Thx

  • I’m very confused, doing this exact thing works differently for me. Instead of moving the object in the outliner, it stays where it is, but a duplicate, kind of transparent text version appears below it in the outliner. It’s very weird! Can anyone tell me what’s going on with this? EDIT: I figured it out. If it’s in a different collection it doesn’t work, it has to be in the exact same collection.

  • I’ve tried refreshing and checking my playback settings, everything seems normal on my end but playback on this article seems like there’s a lag. Is that intentional? I’m finding it distracting to follow along. The content and tips are great, but the lag between what I’m hearing and seeing is almost too much by the time I’m halfway thru the article….I want so badly for there to be a button I can press to “fix” that >_<" thanks for the demo tho (:
