  • I Remember Meeting Mac At An event in Brisbane, I waited outside for an hour by myself, people where waiting also but I knew nobody, I just knew I wanted to meet mac, time passed and when the show finished I seen a white van pulling out the venue, I was the only person who chased it on foot, I then ran up to his van at an intersection, it was only me I remember yelling “Yo Mac!” Nonstop, At the time I had a haircut like wiz Khalifas so when he wind his window down he Laughed At My Haircut with his security and then said “I’m playing man” then we bumped fists, I literally didn’t say a word I was just staring at my fist because we bumped fist. I was star struck. When the lights turned green at the intersection I remember just staring at him and he starred back till I couldn’t see him anymore, I was 16 at the time, that’s one of my best memories in general. Rest In Peace To such a cool soul man ❤️

  • I was 17 when I heard this!, smoking a joint with a homeboy that we made fun of because they looked a like lol, on 12/28 I turn 29, damn dude here I am outside my house smoking a joint about to take the trash out, time does fly fast, would have been awesome to see mac be our age and still be making music, till this day I feel the same way as the 1st time I heard it

  • Quick story for y’all; I was in high school during lunch break, we went to the garage and lit up a clip (my first time smoking) then we hit up the stairs and went to the library, this song had just came out. The intro of this song felt like it was 10 minutes long before chorus came out. Every time i listen to this song it takes me back to my first smoke.

  • It took me a while, but I’ve finally been able to come back and listen to my boy without shedding a tear. And I’m so thankful for it, because his music takes me back to fall 2011 to summer 2013, my 4th and 5th yr at Cal Poly when I would listen to Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, and Nipsey religiously. Along with playing FIFA religiously😂

  • Not going to bandwagon, but I always keep hearing this dude and I never had a Chance to give a try to hear his music . Ever Since his death, A lot of my favorite artist posted about him and giving condolences. Right now I’m giving a try and I can’t believe I slept on Mac Miller’s music. Rest In Peace Mac Miller

  • The year is 2010. I just graduated HS and moved to Florida. Mac Miller just dropped this fire. Wiz Khalifa will soon debut with Black and Yellow, and Rolling Papers. Drake is starting to heat up. Life is chill, life is good. RiP Mac Miller. I had this song playing damn near everyday, on my lil mp3 player.

  • I remember my older brother playing this song in his room after that I became a big fan of your beats and your songs I love you man and I knew it was hard to get over the drugs and everything but everyone has their problems all we have to do is enjoy life before it last thank you for inspiring me so much man I love you Rest In Peace MAC 🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️

  • The intro, this song brings back so many memories with people I don’t see anymore, people who have been forgotten, people who are no longer here in this mundane reality, a certain reality Mac put some coolness gracefully, just smh happy I got to listen to him while alive, and coinciding with him on this realm of space and time is boggling already, what a bliss💯

  • Summer ‘13 in London: – Moved there in May – 35°C (100°F) all day every day – Had been working out for a year so I was jacked – Dating more women than I ever had in my life before – blazin’ all day with my best friends – bought my first pair of Air Jordan’s. – This song in my shuffle daily. I think that was the best summer of my life. Thanks for helping to make it so good, Mac.

  • I’ve been leaving comments left and right on these articles, this man was my hero when I needed one the most man. 5th grade on that Mountain Dew commercial, that commercial changed my life forever. Regular Show and Mac Miller was my escape for the longest, hell Mac was half the reason I got into OF and discovered my idols Tyler and Earl. This song and Senior Skip Day showed me early on that Mac was the fucking man with his craft, I’m so happy and proud to call myself a fan. I’m still deeply saddened by his passing, I know many of you are. My love and best wishes to everyone who sees this, and just remember no matter what to Smile Back. Love you all.

  • For 4 years I’ve listened to this weekly. Today I’m 120 days clean off Fentanyl. I would listen, praying that one day I wouldn’t have to lie to the world anymore. Wondering why I built these massive demons in my life. I don’t worship celebrities but I appreciate certain humans more than others and Mac changed my life and motivated me when most gave up on me. It kills me that I survived my battle, as of now, but Mac didn’t make it. He was such a big part of why I’m alive today. Thank you Mac. To anyone fighting an addiction, it really is worth it. Life really does get better in sobriety, I know you can’t believe that right now. Keep trying. I love you.

  • I’ve been on this tiny desk concert hard for the last 3 weeks.. I wasn’t a huge Mac Miller fan, but finding this performance; as a music fan, I had to keep it on repeat. Just yesterday I saw my sister and my 2 year old niece and one of the things I had to do was show them this concert and groove and and dance to this this great artist. RIP Mac Miller.

  • Is it just me or when the day feels off or simply want to browse some YT articles, I end up perusal Mac’s. How many people out there just come back and re-read article’s comments and see how much love Mac’s still getting from all over the planet. Wish we all knew what exactly was going through his mind, so we would’ve given more and significant support to him, but I guess he didn’t even know… Glad he became a lifetime artist for all of us.

  • It bothers me so much I didn’t give this kid a chance when he was alive. I heard the tiny desk edition of 2009 on facebook and fell in love. And of course this was after his death. For a solid 2 weeks now, I’ve listened to him constantly. I get it. I get why he was loved so much. The kid was brilliant. RIP Mac Miller, from a new fan!

  • I swiped right on my man on tinder because his bio was “the world is so small till it ain’t”. We have been together 3 years to the day and play this song on our anniversary. Mac, we will also play this song at our wedding. Thank you for bringing us together and for everything you gave the world. RIP sweet boy.

  • I sit down and watch this article at least 5x per year… It never gets old. Absolute classic we’re lucky to have recorded and free to view. Can’t imagine what it felt like for these musicians to be a part of! Also, that girl with the white chucks on the violin brings such good energy with her infectious smile! All around this article is a 10/10. Thanks for making it happen NPR Music.

  • Mac, Thank you. When I was very lost, I listened to your music and somehow found it extremely therapeutic. Thank you for wearing your emotions on your sleeves. Thank you for sharing your pain with us in form of music. I am extremely sorry you had to go like that. I hope your soul finds peace. Where ever in our vast existence you may land. Thank you. For everything. At the end of the day we’re all KIDS. From a heart broken fan.

  • A buddy of mine exposed me to Mac Miller. We listened to him a lot and eventually commiserated over his death. My friend committed suicide this year and now I sit and listen to him alone, thinking about life and death in general and it’s a bittersweet tune. This is my favorite recording of Mac and I wish I could text my friend right now. May their life memories stay positive and long for years to come. But mostly, I just miss my friend.

  • It’s September 2024. I watch this article ever couple months so imma leave a check in for my self. You’re finally over your ex and life is good again. You’re starting to look at grad school and think about your future. You came to watch Mac because you have zero clue where u will be this time next year.

  • I relate too much to Mac and it’s crazy that everytime I watch this performance I cry I feel the pain thru his music I’ve struggled with addiction my whole life but when you have some much love to give you care more about other people so you drowned yourself in alcohol in substances and never lose hope that someday we’ll make it out!! Mac made me feel that such an amazing artist but these demons sometimes get the best of us when we least expect it!! Forever love you MAC MOST DOPE!!

  • Doesn’t matter how long it took you to get here, it only matters that you did. Life with Mac’s sound in it was so necessary it seemed… Thanks for giving him love, dead or alive. Music is a beautiful thing. Edit: Other than that live bass line in “What’s the Use,” my favorite thing to come back to is the updated and latest comments.

  • This article’s gonna get a hell of a lot of views in the next few days, I just wanna say if Mac’s death does anything then let it be this. Check in on any of your friends or family who you think might need it, even if you think they might just be a bit down, someone to talk to can mean everything in tough times, whether that’s drugs, alcohol or suicidal thoughts.

  • Nobody will be iller than Mac Miller, 90s kid shining with an old soul. Genuine artist no fools gold. We all have demons dying young so we can grow cold, I guess the hardest part of life is letting go. With death comes a rebirth, as time flies we unearth the light within so we can live without our head in the dirt. We soar high with our shoes scraping the sky trying to reach heaven but have you asked yourself why. When it’s all said and done we’re all just kids with different faces, perusal movies with the sound off going different places. Hoping for the best day ever, swimming in a dream state, up late & it’s GO:OD am. So Why wait. Count your blessings. 🙏👁️

  • “Keep your eyes to the sky, never glued to your shoes Guess there was a time when my mind was consumed But the sun coming out now, clouds start to move Don’t tell me nothing but the truth” Shit Mac, I thought you were going out of all your problems with this album… Thanks for every moment you gave me with your music and for all the moments your music is still going to give me. I love you as you were a friend, rest in peace brother.

  • First time listening to this. March 24th, 2022. I’m struggling with life and his beautiful music and these comments just let me know I’m not alone. I don’t wish struggle on anyone. RIP Mac. Update: May 27th, 2022. I’m doing a little better, my thoughts aren’t racing as much. I can’t believe how many likes this got and how much love I got. I appreciate all the kind words of encouragement, love y’all 🙏❤️.

  • Mac Miller I’m 54 years old and my hip hop roots go back as far as the genre itself. I stumbled upon your Swimming release about 2 months ago. 2009 is the most refreshing chune i have heard in the past 18 years! I know you are deeply missed by your family friends and fans. Truly gone way too soon, but never forgotten. Rest easy young brother. PEACE.

  • I had no idea who you were until you were gone. My son loved you, and it touched me to see how your death affected him. You were exceptional in a way not familiar to me, but posthumously, I can see, and I can hear what they mean. I’m sorry you’re gone. I feel for those who loved you. I wish you could have found the help you needed. I pray you’re resting in peace because you actually found love. Found God. RIP

  • I cannot fathom how incredible Mac’s future music would have been. Every album he released was better than the last. His next album was supposed to be the completion of the swimming in circles trilogy too. A true rap album combined with the musical elements in divine feminine, swimming, and circles… omg. Rest easy bro

  • Always seems so weird to feel like I have a personal connection to someone I never met, or miss someone I never got to talk to, but then I come to his comment sections and realize everyone feels that. We all have some completely personal and unique connection with him, and that’s most dope. Makes me feel less weird.

  • My son turned me on to Mac Miller by showing me this article. I subsequently picked up “Circles” and – listening to it for the first time – I couldn’t believe how each song was better than the one before it. What an INCREDIBLE talent, and who had such tremendous opportunity to appeal to different generations. His death is tragic; however — and I think he would appreciate this — his music has led this 50-year-old to discover a whole world of music I’d likely never have explored. I’m early in my exploration of this new world, but I’m finding good stuff. Thanks, Mac, and RIP.

  • im so sad he’s gone, and I really can’t talk about it with anyone. And no one would understand. Ive followed Mac since the beginning. Idk if other people are still this sad about him. Even when I try to talk about it with my girlfriend or anything they just brush it off like it’s nothing. But it really does make me so sad. I wish Mac was still here, I always looked forward to his new stuff so much. I really related to him so much and it destroys me to know that he’s gone. Life really was better in 2009. Man….

  • 9:12 is the most underrated part of this whole performance. The way Thundercat finishes his vocal solo and thanks the small group in front of him at the same time Mac is completely locked into the flow of the song – then they just pause and laugh in the lull of the song about it. Then right back into the groove. Those were true professionals and friends about to set out on tour together. Still can’t believe this story ended the way it did, and will always be thankful to Tiny Desk & Mac’s crew for making this happen when it did. 🙏
