This was a great tour. I am a native, 55 years old. I’ve been housebound for the last 5 years. Except for hospital, doctors and my sister’s funeral. And 95% housebound since 2004. Our town has changed so much through my life. that these places are all new to me. Or at least their current function is new to me. Some of the places you’ve been are in the older buildings, but new purpose. Thank you very much, for sharing your adventure with us. May God continue to bless you and your’s.
First trip to Traverse City was the Summer I turned 7 years old… My mom took more photos than usual and it helped to capture exactly how Beautiful it is as well as the ERA… early 60’s. My parents have both left, but the legacy lives on.. something amazing they instilled was my love for travel. So happy to see you enjoying Michigan… I have so many fond memories!!
Have had the privilege of calling Michigan home my entire life (35 years). We have always spent time on the water, going “up north”, and exploring the U.P. As a kid I always had a great time and thought the things were really cool. But with kids of my own now and taking them on the same trips and exploring new ones I have really come to appreciate and understand how unique and amazing this state is and what it has to offer. Seeing it from someone’s point of view that isn’t from here makes its even that much more meaningful. Thanks for the reviews and also showing some new places in T.C. that we will be checking out when we head there for our fall trip.
I’ve lived in northern Michigan (about 45 min from TC) my entire life. You guys did a wonderful job of showing it off!! ❤️ St. Ambrose in the Benzonia area is amazing, they make the best mead and wine! Iron Fish Distillery is also really fun. Edit: I love how you talked to the people running the business’s and told about the history of different places, you guys killed this article!!
Just found this for the first time… being someone born and raised in traverse, but joined the military in 2010, and have t lived back there since it’s really enjoyable to see the changes in here to there. I only travel back to see family and my life long friends and to ah g out and go hunting…. And that’s always later on in the seasons when it’s cold… but it’s really neat to learn things and get the sample you offer here in the content. My favorite places to go when I’m home… the biggest one is Peegeos. It’s off the beaten path, and in the summer and normal months it’s kind of a normal bar… but they have great food. They kind of follow the realm of nascar as they’re more geared that way. And winter it’s filled with people on snowmobiles, they even rent them. Pretty cool, but can get cold. Lol And there’s of corse stuff down town but that’s getting into the thick of a lot and off topic. Just wanted to thank y’all for representing traverse how you did and seeing it from your point of view… if y’all ever go back and want some recommendations…. There’s some wineries for sure y’all should check out… that aren’t always on the quick tour destination. There’s tons up there!
Traverse City is a great place. My friend who used to work with my mom her dad before he died lived up there and owned a bed and breakfast up there. The guy who used to own Little Ceasar’s Pizza he used go stay there for at least 2 weeks at a time. Then our old family friend who lived in Harbor Springs they owned a fish market and used to drive the fish up there. We used to go swimming at the beach near their house. The beach was Lake Michigan. Thus article was great. Great wineries. I told Michigan had a lot of them. The food looked good. The weather looked good for you too! Good you sold a property. Can’t wait to see the next article. Happy Birthday! 🎁🎈🎂🎉🎊 Have a great week! See you soon!
Me after you leave Right Brain : “Hey that looks like they are going to the Filling Station” guess you got told to hit up some of my favorites. TC is not as bike friendly as it seems, but I am happy you lucked out better than I have or some of my friends. Also 15:30 looks like the state park camp grounds, just east of 3 mile if anyone was wondering. 🙂
Great article y’all! We are hoping to visit the Michigan peninsula next month if our motorhome gets out of the shop in time. We’ve decided to bypass New Brunswick this year as the border won’t open until 1st week of August and we have prior commitments starting 1st week of September. No biggie just part of the life. Travel safe! Dan – Oklahoma’s Tumbleweeds
