Sara Haines, a panel mainstay on The View, returned to the program after being on maternity leave. The morning show star and her husband Max Shifrin welcomed daughter Sandra Grace at the end of December. Haines has been on maternity leave since then, and the couple also shares a son named Alec. The newest addition to her family will debut almost five years after Haines and her husband.
The couple resides in New Jersey and had their first child in March 2016, followed by their second in December 2017, and their third in June 2019. Haines revealed that she discovered she was pregnant unexpectedly and faced major postpartum depression while trying to salvage the struggling show. However, they have very limited maternity leave and must immediately go back to work.
Good Morning America presenter Sara Haines returned to work today, less than three months after giving birth to her baby son Alec. The couple didn’t waste time starting a family after they wed in 2014, an escalated timeline she said she was driving. A typical day for Sara Haines, mom of three and co-host for The View, starts early, and like many working moms, she’s in instant mom mode and then out.
The View is back for a ground-breaking Season 28 in a new studio and a slightly smaller live audience. If she takes the same amount of time again, she’ll probably return in mid-September.

YOU GOT THIS! Sara Haines recalls meeting Sherri on “The View” – and teaches Sherri her legendary “sexy dance”!
I was on my own at 16 with a baby hours from anyone in my family,I was in a very dark place and thought very scary things that I look back now and cry over those thoughts… My baby is now 19 with her own beautiful baby girl who is just as wonderful as she was when she was born. The only way I got through it honestly…. I would step out on to my porch and take a couple hits of a doobie (again I was 16 and on my own so don’t judge lol) then go back in and look at her…. And if I felt anything but love I would walk away again… I look back now and thank God every day I figured out how to get through it because I can’t imagine my life without her ☺ she’s my angel 👼
Postpartum depression is no joke. Most times you need help to over come it. Some even need the help of medicine. It’s important that your partner is aware of those signs as well. Always be kind you don’t know what someone else is going threw. It’s so much easier to be kind. It takes an extra effort to be nasty.
I’ve never had a child or postpartum depression, but I’ve had depression before. I kinda connect to this (don’t come after me, please). My mom would say things like “Get over it” or “things will get better”. “You have the power to decide whether to feel happy or not”, etc. I kept waiting for things to get better, but they didn’t. It was a hopeless time, very similar to what Sara was describing.
I went through this. For the first month or two I didn’t dont what to do. I felt like I couldn’t be a good mom. I felt like I wanted to turn in my baby to the hospital. Now after I got through this I’m more than happy. I’m so in love with my baby. She is now 5 months and I couldn’t picture my life without her. I would die before anything happens to her
Tear jerker for sure..love this article because it is bringing awareness to Postpartum depression..it’s a serious thing, & affects the entire family..1 in 4 dads suffers from PPND.( Paternal Postnatal Depression)..so this is a serious topic, but I feel it’s a Taboo topic that nobody wants to ask for help or support.. I googled 👆bit of info.. but great to know..enjoy your day, nothing more beautiful than seeing your babies growing up! Have a great day!
I remember reading and seeing on tv about these women that murdered their young children like the lady who drowned her children in the bathtub to the one who drove the car into the lake to the one who stabbed her two sons and so on. Now I wonder if it had to do with post pardon related and had they gotten help would the ending be different? But, how do women know that they’re going through post pardon depression? This is both scary and heartbreaking at the same time.
Even at your bottom you were able to trust. Bottom line – there was something there that made you step up. Inter strength. 🥰💕❤️ Power to you. I work for Wa St DSHS (almost 25 years!) and remember the first poster quote I saw on office wall when I started; “remember, put the baby down and pick up the phone” Also resonates to me when people need reminding to cool down before making a rash decision.
What would you say to woman who were pregnant and then lost their baby almost full term, delivering a still baby and then leaving their son/daughter behind and leaving the hospital with a flat stomach, breasts full of milk and empty hands? And still going home and feeling post partum stuff and dealing with postpartum depression 4x more than a woman who had a livebirth?
0:00 YA know what…. all I see from this website “what would you do?” is creating scenes to touch our hearts in many ways, and record and make MILLIONS of bucks out of TV…. BUT what I NEVER EVER see, is how they reach out and give BACK to the community themselves!! They should be asking people who helped out for instance, after causing them stress in some way, “listen, this is a tv show, but good for you for helping out, now is there anything YOU need? IF not, is there a charity we can donate to on your behalf? ALL about making money for themselves, not giving back to the community!! (that is my opinion by the way, before I get hate messages!)
Everyone has postpartum depression. Everyone needs to be real careful how they define it and how they don’t define it. Real actual problematic post partum depression doesn’t go away. If post partum depression goes away, then that is the normal kind that everybody gets. When it doesn’t go away 2 mos. after delivery, that is the abnormal problematic kind! Stop fear-mongering people and making them think just because they have a babies that they’re automatically going to have the problematic kind of postpartum depression. This show just panders and shows a lot of negative b.s. and makes people think that problems are bigger than they actually are.
Sherry your credits of your previous jobs and well liked. You don’t have to have that phony open with the desperate clapping. It was the hated part of Wendy’s show was the opening. It makes you look desperate and your not. You know that other shows aren’t like that. Please tone it down if it’s Wendy’s old audience warmer upper Wendy would complain to her to tone it down because viewers where complaining. Please don’t look so desperate!
