What is Ron Weasley’s phobia?

In the second Harry Potter book, The Chamber of Secrets, Ron is diagnosed with Arachnophobia, a specific phobia involving the fear of spiders. His physical symptoms include shaking, screaming, difficulty breathing, and white faces. His anxiety is so high that he believes the end of the world is happening and he must escape. Arachnophobia is a type of specific phobia that can cause immediate anxiety responses, such as panic attacks. Children can also exhibit symptoms of specific phobias, such as crying, throwing tantrums, freezing, or clinging to their parents. Ron’s anxiety level rises, and he tries to avoid the situation.

What are Fred Weasley’s hobbies?

Fred Weasley, a member of the Weasley twins, was a transgressor of the established regulations at Hogwarts and an exemplary player of the Quidditch sport. Both brothers served as Beaters on the Gryffindor Quidditch team and subsequently established their own joke shop, Weasley Wizard Wheezes.

What does Ron Weasley do?

What are Ron’s skills?

In the Harry Potter series, Ron, a young wizard, proves his bravery and magical abilities through various adventures. He plays “real wizard’s chess” in the first book, enters the Forbidden Forest with Harry in the second book, and produces a full-corporeal Patronus Charm in the fifth book. Ron’s qualities serve as a foil to Harry’s, as he comes from a loving but poor family and is often perceived as a mere lackey. His inferiority complex and need to prove himself are the main thrusts of his character arc.

Ron’s character arc progresses from an insecure boy to a competent young man capable of strategy and leadership. He is given his brother Charlie’s old, chipped wand, which malfunctions after nearly breaking it in half at the start of Chamber of Secrets. He procures a new wand, a fourteen-inch, willow, and unicorn hair wand, before starting his third year at Hogwarts.

Ron’s talents are rarely shown, but he survives a violent encounter with adult Death Eaters in Order of the Phoenix and is helped by Felix Felicis, the good luck potion. In Deathly Hallows, Ron loses his original wand and takes Peter Pettigrew’s wand for his own. He begins to demonstrate more aptitude and general knowledge, and a sudden spurt in maturity after a terrible row with Harry. Ron effectively leads the trio in the hunt for the Horcruxes while Harry suffers a major depression.

What is Ron Weasley’s favorite food?

The journeys of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley were noteworthy, with Harry’s mother preparing corned beef sandwiches and Ron’s mother preparing bacon sandwiches. In 1992, Professor McGonagall prepared a repast of chicken and ham sandwiches for them to consume in Snape’s office. Following the defeat of Lord Voldemort, Harry requested that Kreacher prepare a sandwich comprising vegetables, flour, and meat slices.

  • I always thought Harry and Luna should have been together. And Luna has such a sad sad non scene in the books. When the Golden Trio visited the Lovegood’s home, Harry discovered Luna’s room with “Friends” painted in her room with pics of Harry, Ron, Neville, Ginny and Hermione in it. See the tragedy…not one single person from her own House is in it. I keep having this image of her sitting alone by the window reading the Quibbler while everyone else in Ravenclaw is avoiding her 🙁

  • Maybe controversial, but I really like LunaxHarry. I really appreciated their trauma conversation at the end of book 5. She was the only one who made him feel better because she’s the only one who knew what it was like to lose a parental figure. And he takes her to Slughorn’s ball, “someone cool” he calls her in the movie.

  • Ron and Luna together was by far my favourite part of the Harry in Slytherin series. Love this article. Also, it always made me sad that people complained about her Quidditch commentary, because she has my absolute favourite line of the whole series with “And Harry Potter’s now having an argument with his Keeper, I don’t think that’ll help him find the Snitch, but maybe it’s a clever ruse.” Years later I still remember how hard I laughed the first time I read that line

  • The Lovegoods live near the Weasleys — “just over the hedge/hill” or so? (Unsure of the quote, is it only in the movie?) Probably the nearest wizarding family to the Burrow. So it makes sense that Luna would already know the kids pretty well. Potentially they would have helped Luna and her father after Luna’s mother’s death — “Ron, take this casserole over to the Lovegoods”, etc. As such, Luna and Ginny would likely already be friends and Luna may have looked up to Ron already. Unless she didn’t approve of how the Weasleys treat their garden gnomes of course.

  • Honestly the idea of basically everyone from Hogwarts marrying people they went to school with has always been a giant pet peeve of mine. One or two couples? Fine. But everyone ending up with like their childhood sweetheart? No wonder Snape was so caught up on this. Feels like Bill and Fleur are the only exception.

  • Luna was one of my favorite characters, and I often felt the most misunderstood and interesting. They create the notion that Ravenclaw is all about creativity and intelligence…and Luna doesn’t seem like a match. Until you realize that she doesn’t have the qualities of Ravenclaw but rather she is the creation Ravenclaw’s strive to be. It’s not what she does that makes her creative, it’s who she is. She is an oddity that forces you to be creative to understand her.

  • I really would have liked to have seen more of Harry refereeing between Hermione and Luna because they experienced life from diametrically opposed directions: the muggle-born Hermione’s rationality versus full-wizard Luna’s intuitional approach. Such a triangle could cause Harry to question his sanity!

  • I know some people are gonna hate me for this but I ship Hermione and Neville. Hermione was Neville’s first friend and vice versa Hermione was the only one looking for Trevor and Hermione and Neville always worked together in class and Hermione always helped Neville study and more. And when Neville first heard about the Yule ball the first person he asked was Hermione. Also I like Harry and Ginny in the books

  • This is made for me, I’ve been saying this for so long, they complement each other’s flaws so well; fan pairings are so often chemistry-based, but these two I think are rooted in personal growth. I’m not sure I’d consider them a pair that would last, but I think if they were to get together they would at least part as much happier people. Edit: Don’t get me started on how much (book) Ron Mean-Spirited-Banter Weasley seems to like having Luna around, despite most other characters throwing pretty inconsiderate words her way when they interact with her. I could talk about these two all day man.

  • The most important thing about this pairing . Ron has the capacity to enjoy Luna’s kind insanity, despite it being absurd he doesn’t focus on it so much . Meanwhile, Ron has many insecurities but if there is one person that won’t care about insecurities other people have, won’t care about popularity, won’t care about anything concerning other people, that’s Luna. Luna obviously has a crush on him, and little did Ron know.. Luna was the perfect girl for him. If Ron and Luna were to get together, I would really like a scene in Bill and Fleur’s wedding were Luna appears in the wedding and some people think she’s as beautiful as Fleur (Luna isn’t very pretty in the books since she never cares enough about appearances to try)

  • I feel like this ship would have worked out a lot better for the plot. For one thing, Ron and Hermione are always fighting and even if you try to pass it off as romantic, it’s just not. Next, I feel like Harry should have ended up with the person that he went through everything with, and shared so many moments with. Ginny could have then been with Neville

  • I actually shipped Ron and Luna the first time I read the books. This article delightfully brought me back. Red Moon for Life! I will say on the subject of Harry and Hermione. Yes, in the movies. No, in the books. It’s a bit of a double edged sword to me because I appreciate a platonic relationship between a guy and a girl.

  • Fun fact: The first time the Lovegood’s are mentioned in the series is in the Goblet of Fire chapter titled “The Portkey” when Amos Diggory tells Arthur that the Lovegoods didn’t manage to get tickets to the Quidditch World Cup….. Which leads me to my thesis statement that the Lovegoods are none other than members of the Anti-Quidditch Association. Think about it….someone as wealthy and influential as Sir Xenophilius “Xeno” Lovegood, editor-in-chief of the hugely successful Quibbler news organization, didn’t manage to score tickets but the Weasleys scored almost a dozen tickets just because Arthur helped Bagmans brother with a cursed lawnmower, or whatever it was? Unless Arthur acted like the only way 2 discover the function of a rubber duck was inside Bagmans underwear, then it doesn’t sound like the tickets were too hard to acquire for Bagman. Make it make sense. The ONLY logical solution is the Lovegoods are notorious Quidditch Haters. Also, when Luna commentated on the Hogwarts Quidditch match, she clearly tried to sabotage the sport by commentating on anything but the match. And when she wore the lions head, it was also to distract spectators from the match. More eyes on her, less eyes on Quidditch. Also, explains her friendship with Harry and her seeking him out…she is attempting to pull the youngest Seeker in a century, from the sport. I don’t know, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink… Please my friends…drink up this information and be full of knowledge.

  • I picked up on Luna having a thing for Ron several years ago and even wondered if part of Hermione’s fiction for Luna was how obvious it is. I always assumed other people knew about it and just didn’t speak on it because it’s clear Ron would never be with her. I was happy to hear the moments you pointed out on Ron’s side but I just do not see him actually going out with her. While he wants to stand out I just do not see him wanting to be thought of as weird. I could see him being embarrassed any time she talks about Nargles and she deserves better than a guy that is embarrassed by her. I prefer to think that Neville and Luna date for a while after the battle before parting amicable due to their career choices.

  • I’ve always thought the ships should’ve been: Harry/Hermione, Ron/Luna and Neville/Ginny. By the way, Ron most likely did know Luna, or at least knew of her, because they were neighbors. The Lovegoods were casually mentioned when the Diggorys, Weasleys, Harry and Hermione were gathering around the portkey to take them to the World Cup in GoF. (They’d been at the campsite for a week or 2 before the game).

  • I 100% agree with this theory and that they were being set up. I think it would have been better as Hermione and Harry would have gotten along due to their muggle upbringing, while Luna and Ron would have had similar magical backgrounds and also lived not far from each other. When I read how Luna genuinely laughed at Ron’s jokes and how he genuinely loved her commentary of the quidditch match, I knew they should have gotten together.

  • Never really thought of this pairing too much but I do have to say it is intriguing. Not to mention they are close neighbors and parents already have connetion to be invited to Bill and Feuir’s wedding, or Ron is naturally inclined into auclementsy, which I don’t remember if Luna is but seems up her alley. Food for thought, but it seems like a good experiment ❤

  • I find your speculations, theories and analysis of the Harry Potter books well thought out and supported, intelligent and entertaining. Thanks! \tAs usual you covered significant incidents that support the case for a Ron and Luna pairing. I would like to add one more argument to support your case. There are pertinent character traits of Ron and Luna that would contribute to a successful long term relationship for these two. Ron is not the most attentive or considerate partner. Luna is very self contained and Ron’s lack of attentiveness would probably not bother her. She may not even notice! \tMuch of Hermione’s attraction to Ron is based on her concern and compassion for him playing second fiddle to Harry, his brothers and even Ginny. Despite being younger than Ron Ginny was more socially savvy than Ron and she was a consistently better Quidditch player. Hermione cared for house elves because of their second class citizenship. Hermione is compelled to defend and protect the underdog. \tSeeing your partner as an underdog does not, necessarily, make for a strong, long lasting marriage relationship as it is not based on equality. \tHermione definitely perceives Ron as an underdog. She is always surprised when Ron proves competent or when he demonstrates compassion. I think Ron would have come to resent this perception (despite the accuracy) and I think Hermione would have, sooner or later, become irritated with Ron’s lack of attention, consideration and compassion. \tYes, I know that during Deathly Hallows Ron showed greater attention and consideration for Hermione but this was a result of conscious effort on Ron’s part.

  • Ginny and Neville Ginny has always been nice to Neville even defending him when Ron and Harry are making fun of him before the Yule Ball. Ginny and Neville were both leading the resistance against Snape’s regime at Hogwarts. I believe Neville became a hardcore rebel because of Ginny. Ginny has had no trouble getting boyfriends because of her looks and popularity. But because Neville has an awkward personality he can appreciate Ginny not only for her looks and power but also for who she is. They start dating and it causes a change in Neville but no matter how strong Neville becomes with Ginny’s guidance he’ll always love, admire, respect, and appreciate her.

  • I think having Luna being with anyone romantically is funny to think about just because…she’s Luna. She’s odd, she’s unique, most people don’t understand or even acknowledge her…So her ending up getting married seems crazy to some degree. But she has to end up with someone kind, unique and fun as well.

  • Hey brothers, I really appreciate all the work and dedication you put into these articles. Thank you for continuing to create great content and even branching out things other than Harry Potter but continuing to do Harry and all the trops coming along as new people discover this truly terrific series. Thank you!

  • Hey guys, I have a question, Couldn’t the judges of Triwizard Tournament somehow keep Harry out of the tournament? Here is what I think could have been done, at each task Harry should just surrender somehow before even starting the task. For example, in the first task Harry could just say that he cannot get the golden egg OR else just stay inside the tent till the time gets over, that could have given him ZERO points. This is how the judges could ensure that Harry was out of the tournament, I mean this could be beforehand mutually decided and pre-planned among the judges and Harry. That’s what I think, tell me what you think whether it is possible or not?

  • I disagree with this idea. I like the canonical pairings, EXCEPT FOR NEVILLE’S! I actually think Luna & Neville belong together. Neville & Luna both belong to “Dumbledore’s Army”, they both fought at the Ministry, they both helped in 6th year, they both can see the Thestrals, they both are extremely loyal to Harry & Dumbledore, they where part of the core group that kept fighting in 7th year, and finally they both understand/experienced great sadness.

  • NGL when I first read the Order of the Phoenix (I was 12), I thought Luna was just… the best. 👌 👨‍🍳 💋. I had a huge crush on her, in case you couldn’t tell, and since Harry is the stand-in for the reader, I got all sorts of jealous at Ron 😅because I picked up on Luna being sweet on Ron instead of Harry/me.

  • 🪄✨ Made with SummarizeYT app 0:36 – Luna Lovegood being compared to a Velociraptor 1:28 – Ron and Luna’s potential as a couple 3:16 – Luna’s first interaction with Ron about the Yule Ball 4:58 – Luna’s exaggerated reaction to Ron’s joke 7:17 – Luna’s response to Ron’s insult compared to Hermione’s 8:45 – Luna calling Ron by his full name 9:13 – The Super Carlin Brothers are sponsored by BetterHelp, a therapy platform. 11:01 – Luna supports Gryffindor in a Quidditch match and sits next to Ron, showing her interest in him. 12:39 – Ron compliments Luna’s commentary during a Quidditch game, indicating his growing feelings for her. 14:10 – Ron admires Luna’s bravery, showing a deeper appreciation for her. 14:38 – Hermione picks up on the potential romantic connection between Ron and Luna. 16:10 – Hermione initially dismisses Luna and views her as a threat. 16:46 – The Super Carlin Brothers conclude that Ron and Luna should have ended up together.

  • I was just worried the author would ship Harry & Hermione b/c they were the main character & main female protagonist (to be clear, I would have felt the same if JK decided to ship Harry & Ron b/c it’s the main character & other male protagonist); so when she made it out like Ron & Hermione may get together I was ok with it. It does make more sense in the books though, the movies really didn’t do Ron (let alone Ron & Hermione) justice.

  • I’ve always been a big fan of Percy and Oliver as a couple. In the same house and year, both receiving many accolades from the school, annoyingly particular about their specific interests but ultimately charming, intensely dedicated to the point they’re almost oblivious to anyone else around them, it’s like they were made for a friends-to-lovers fanfiction.

  • There’s also that one scene In the battle of the department of mysteries where Luna, Ginny and Ron get separated and get stuck in a room full of planets fighting death eaters. When Ron gets high, Luna calmly explains that she tried doing something about it and Ron calls her Loony and I don’t think that any reaction on her part was specified (Unlike when she is first called Loony). I definitely thinks that means something.

  • I don’t think Luna approached Ron’s ball date. I think maybe she was complaining and Luna either overheard or she was complaining to Luna. Luna saw her and understood her body language. She has very strong powers of perception. She shared the knowledge with Ron, Because he’s oblivious and she was helping. She mentioned she wouldn’t have minded not dancing because that would have helped Ron feel better. Natural mediator. Luna is a character INFP personality. We appear to be up in the clouds but we pay attention to detail nobody notices. She was being honest when she said that she doesn’t like to dance. There’s a difference between dancing at a ball that’s playing I guess conventional music to dancing at a wedding, Expressing joy and happiness for the people getting married.

  • The thing Luna said to Ron about Patil at the Yule Ball, I made a similar hinting comment to my ex-GF before we were dating: She was talking about how her BF at the time mistreated her and I said: “Well, if it were me, I wouldn’t do that!” And she did the laughing thing to me: I once made a very lame joke and she laughed loud enough to make the entire canteen look at her.

  • I will always be Ron and Hermione. You guys will never convince me otherwise. I don’t care if that may have been a path that the author was going down. Ron and Hermione forever. Just like I will always be for Harry and Ginny. Harry deserves to be an official member of the Weasley family. And I love Ron and Hermione together because to me they just work. I have always seen them getting together from when I read the very first book. And when they ended up together in the end, I was quite delighted. I always thought Luna and Neville should have gotten together. I was surprised that they didn’t.

  • Would you do one on Draco and Hermione? If Ron had stayed with Lavender ? If Draco accepted Dumbledore’s help? If Draco did not walk to other side to Voldemort ? What if Draco was in Gryffindor instead of Slytherin? What if Hermione was in Slytherin instead of Gryffindor as being the only muggle born? If it was Percy who died instead of Fred ? What if Pettigrew was caught at the end of Azkaban?

  • It’s somewhat interesting, but I still don’t totally buy it. They still seem too different to me. I could have seen Neville and Luna happening, though. Nice artwork, though. Do you think that Luna, like Hermione (Ginny’s other best friend), never pursued Harry because Luna, like Hermione (Ginny’s other best friend), accepted that Harry was Ginny’s? Luna does point out that, although Ron can be funny, he can also be rather rude.

  • I’m glad you made this article. I thought I was the only one seeing a connection there. \tI my opinion Ron and Hermione makes no sense whatsoever. Ron is a bit impulsive at times. He doesn’t always have the best judgement. Later in life he would learn to rely on Hermione in the wrong way, for all the wrong reasons. He would let her make decisions and then resent her for being right. Just go back to the books and you find he does that all through the books. That’s not a healthy relationship. To tell the truth, I never understood what Hermione see in him. \tDon’t get me wrong. I like book-Ron very well, but as a couple with Hermione…. It’s got all the wrong vibes. \tOn the other hand Luna seems a bit insane at first glance, but let me just remind you: Luna is in RAVENCLAW!!! She IS smart. Ron is being his usual insensitive self with Luna at first, but later he is more considering. He actually thankful that Luna helps Giny in the last book. I can see Ron and Luna having a great life together. There’s no friction there. They complete each other. \tI would like to see a article on Giny and Neville. I think that Giny and Neville would be perfect for each other. Neville grows in confidence through out the books but still at times he is a bit awkward. Giny could be a supportive force in Neville’s life. Also, I believe as strong as Giny is, she wants someone who is honest, calm and supportive towards her. I can see them having long conversation. They seem so different at first but they really are the same.

  • J’s luna voice is hysterical. Love that he commits to it. I like Luna for Ron because she’s something that is only his. Hermione he feels like Ron has to fight with Harry and Victor for. Like J states in the article she’s interested in Ron. She doesn’t care about his friendship with Harry or his association with him. I RED MOON FOR LIFE!

  • I’ve never liked the Ron and Hermione, Harry and Ginny pairings, I was always saying that hairy should’ve been with Hermione and I may still feel that way. But recently I’ve been leaning towards Harry and Luna. They both know what each other have gone through. And as far as Ginny, obviously Neville. But if Harry and Luna and Neville and Jenny don’t end up together, then obviously Neville and Luna. Neville even says that he’s in love with her and yet supposedly Neville ends up with some Rando and Luna ends up with some Rando.

  • Dude your Luna voice is terrible you sound like Bunny the fourth Powerpuff girl or maybe at best it just sounds like your doing your Voldemort voice without malice. Now that the negative is out of the way I liked the article and I do agree about Ron and Luna plus if they got together I feel like Luna would calm Ron down, you do realize your going to have to talk about Drarry eventually now right?

  • Didn’t Luna in the end prove that all the creatures she said were around were actually around? You should explore the fact Harry is the holder of multiple vaults at Gringotts. That belonged to many wizard families, that probably had arranged marriages contracts attached to said families. Meaning Harry would be contractual arranged to marry multiple women

  • Your Luna impression is really funny. It makes her sound like an old man! Maybe another reason Luna could have found the joke so funny is because she disliked Goyle who’s probably bulled her at some point. Luna is pretty isolate from other Ravenclaw so I could totally understand why she wouldn’t have really cared to support her house team. I do think that she liked Ron and I’m here for it.

  • And when it comes to book Luna, I feel like the book set up a potential different partner for her at the end… Dean Thomas. They technically were only together for a few brief weeks between the dungeons and Malfoy manner and Shell Cottage and yet they seem pretty close when they arrive to Hogwarts when Neville recalls the DA. And then as everybody is leaving to fight, Dean calls out for her and takes her hand and they run into the fight holding hands. So I think they might have had a brief relationship before she returned back to Hogwarts.

  • My Dramoine-shipping heart actually loves this so much! I’ve completely fallen in love with Hermione and Draco fanfics, but the thing that never sits well with me is how Ron is always short-changed in those scenarios. He’s always either paired-off with someone ditsy like Lavender or even killed off in some cases. To me, it doesn’t make sense after all they’ve been through that Hermione and Ron’s friendship can just fall apart because they broke up or Ron doesn’t approve of Hermione’s partner. RedMoon fit so perfectly with Dramoine. RedMoon gives Ron his own main character story, instead of being the perpetual sidekick/side character that he’s been (and resents being) his whole life. I also have a headcanon that Ron is actually attracted to brains/Ravenclaw qualities, and that’s why he liked Hermione in the first place. Ultimately, he needs to be with someone who sees him for himself and as an equal. With Hermione, he’s always going to feel less than.

  • Okok I love this pairing and harmione but I’m also much more of a fan of queer ships- so I’m all for Luna being paired with Ginny over anyone else… I’m also a Fan of Draco/Harry as either a romantic or friendly pairing, and honestly could have seen them ending up as a romantic pair in the What if Harry was in Slytherin series ! I especially like them together because of the growth that it allows for Draco and his ability to have a proper redemption… ofc this would end up keeping Ron/hermione typically but I’m ok with that tbh

  • I was pretty upset when Harry and Hermione didn’t get together when I read the books. I thought that they had great chemistry and it felt like the story was pushing for a romance for a long time. I don’t particularly mind the Ron/Hermione ship, but I don’t really like Harry/Ginny. I don’t know why, that one always weirds me out a little bit.

  • I thought for sure this was going to be the turning point where Ron and Hermoine stopped being a thing cuz he was after Luna now. Then Hermoine and Harry could bond over the break up and be the couple they were obviously meant to be and Ron would be with Luna which I also feel very much fits. At the same time I do like Harry officially joining the Weasley family when he marries into it but I still think he should have been with Hermoine more.

  • Thank you for this analysis! I think you are on point, and I definitely agree. I always thought the same when reading books. And I wish that such pairing did happen that way, including Harry ending up with Hermione. I’d love any other pairings/ships you would want to explore. In fact I’d love more HP content of any kind from you. I love all the HP vids you and Ben do. Keep up the awesome job you both have been doing already for years!

  • Can we get one on Ginny and Nevil??? In the books she’s the cool girl and quidditch star, whereas Neville is the nerd who suddenly gets a glow up when he steps up to a mantle of leadership. It’s literally a staple trope of the teen drama. I’d be very interested if there’s enough there for a breakdown

  • ok first of all, i never thought i’d see scb do a ship article. secondly, nothing can beat romione for me. they are just made for each other. thirdly, i have always admired luna with ron and especially harry. this article is an amazing compilation of all the redmoon moments in the books and i certainly appreciate them more now as a pair. BUT, theres just something about their personalities in complement to each other and the way their moments together were written, that i cant really picture them actually dating ever. sure, it all seems really sweet within the crush realm but longterm (or even short-term) dating between this pair is kinda hard to imagine. its the same with this as how i used to feel about harry and luna. teenage me shipped them a lot, especially since they had amazing chemistry on screen while ginny was busy with shoelaces. but as i’ve grown older i’ve realized they make better sense as friends. and theres something really charming about it. luna who never had any friends, grows up to become one of ron and harry’s favorite people and vice versa. its really refreshing seeing strong bonds of pure platonic friendships between male and female characters. which is why i will always ALWAYS love harmione as besties and like-brother-and-sister from different-mothers-and-misters.

  • I am not 100% sure of this but I vaguely remember hearing or reading somewhere that the author herself knows and agrees that Harry and Hermione are the better couple, but that she had a friend growing up that Ronit based off of that didn’t get the girl so she wrote that Ron gets the girl for that reason only but even the author can see that Harry and Hermione should be together and I can see and agree with you on Ronald and Luna as a couple.

  • Generally, Luna is my favourite character of the harry potter world. I like her intuitive perception, and brave honesty. She speaks her thoughts, what I believe, honestly in every appearance she makes. I like how she seems carefree but something else lies just beneath the surface. And she has a superhero alliterative name too.

  • Ron is too self-centered to be married to anyone. If anything I see him marrying/being divorced by someone like Lavender Brown…and then, maybe later having a relationship with someone like Hannah Abbott. Someone to cook for him like his mother. Neville was a good balance for Luna…but I also think she would have been good with Ernie Macmillan or even Justin Finch-Fletchley– if we really want to shake up the muggle establishment😊 She would have helped them be a little less rigid. and they would have anchored her just enough to be safe.

  • I knew Ron and Hermione should be together by middle of book 2. And Harry and Ginny just made perfect sense. I personally think that Luna ending up with Newt’s grandson is super cute, as I too love Newt a ton and just imagine him being as sweet as his grandfather and love that for Luna. That being said, I do think Ron and Luna are a better pairing than Ron and Lavender.

  • Also another reason why Luna might of developed a crush on Ron. It’s very likely that there was still some gossip going around the school about what happened the previous year at school when she joined the school in 1992 to do with the golden trio which probably got her interested in all three of them. Then she befriends Ginny and Ginny probably told her stories about Ron and some of them might be about Ron being a great big brother. And also in second year Harry and Ron save her new friend so she starts falling for Ron a bit. Then there’s her second year. She over hears Ron talking about reading up about law to try and help Hagrid and Buckbeak out and probably also bumped into him a few times and sees his great loyalty to his friends which up until that point she might have only heard about possibly falling for him more.

  • There is a difference between harmony’s opinion and Ron’s opinion. Thus why Luna reacted differently, It wasn’t because one was her miney and the other was runs it was the context of the conversations. Hermione was insulting Luna’s father, By insulting his paper. So of course Luna would be upset. However, with the interaction with Ron, Luna In a minor way insulted hagrid. Saying the raven clause think of him as a bit of a joke. And Ron defended Hagrid in his response. But even His response was respectful. You just said that you guys have a bad sense of humor. Of course Lina would find that interesting, Ron was showing good character. Ron did not insult Luna personally, harmony did, although not intentionally. There’s also the difference of it’s okay to insult me but you insult my family and that’s for you cross the line. Luna is okay with people making fun of her and being rude to her she is not okay with people insulting her friends and family. Another reason why she found Ron’s response interesting he defended his friend. She wouldn’t get mad at that.

  • I swear there were a few moments in the books where ron had a crush on Luna. But people said it is just me that saw it. I wish I knew which pages and books I saw these moments in. Either way, I thought they would make a cute couple before they wind up with neville (Luna) and Ron (with whomever). I am a Fremione (fred and Hermione) fan.

  • I never finished the books so I’m not aware of every little interaction between the characters, but the pairing of Ron and Hermione always struck me as coming from out of left field. It didn’t make a ton of sense to me that Harry and Hermione wouldn’t end up together as they always seemed to have better chemistry, particularly given the fact that Hermione often went out of her way to support Harry in whatever way he needed over every other option throughout the story. That said, if Ron and Hermione HAD to be together, I think a Harry and Luna pairing would feel more natural than Harry and Ginny since Luna seems to be more capable of sympathizing with Harry and the things he’s had to endure his whole life since the moment they met. At the end of the day, for me at least, Harry and Ginny feels forced.

  • 15:19 Hermione is probably one of the most closed minded characters in the series though. Like it’s explicitly stated she’s to closed minded and she actively dislikes Luna immediately upon meeting her. It’s a fleshed out character flaw that she pays to much mind to books and struggles to be open minded to more creative and out of the box thinking.

  • I think the reason Luna laughed so hard at Ron’s joke on the train was to add depth to him telling her her sense of humor was rubbish when she says that Ravenclaw thinks Hagrid is a bit of a joke. She pauses and really thinks about it and I don’t think it happens if she doesn’t think he’s so funny at the beginning

  • Ginmione/Herminny (Ginny x Hermione) Fleurmione (Hermione x Fleur) Chinny ( Cho x Luna) Linny/Ginuna (Luna x Ginny) Paduna ( Padma x Luna) Padmione (Padma x Hermione) Parvender/Larvati (Parvati x Lavender) Luna Lovegood x Padma Patil Alice Longbottom x Lily Evans (imagine if Harry & Neville were twins, and both the chosen ones…..)

  • Rather than allowing her characters to grow as they do, She who must be obeyed wrote the epilogue at the same time as she wrote the Philosopher’s Stone. Then in the last two books she strenuously bent the characters arcs to fit the epilogue rather than bending the epilogue to fit the character’s arcs.

  • This ship is really awesome! The first I’ve heard of with Ron that truly makes sense! ❤❤❤ I would like to also see Dramione explored. 1. Because for them to be together Draco would need to overcame his racist ideas; and Hermione would need to embrace severly enormous amounts of trust and forgiveness. 2. Another thing, they are the same, sometimes just on the opposite side. 3. This relationship is very hopeful. It means that a smart young woman believes that the worst she knows can change; and Draco proves her right in the most beautiful way. 4. They both have the ability to change and challenge each other and also to bring out the best and most out of the relationship.

  • The insulting thing with Hermione and Ron I don’t think shows that Luna might’ve liked Ron. Luna never cared when she was bullied and she wasn’t close to anyone in Ravenclaw so she didn’t mind. Hermione, however, insulted The Quibbler and by extension Luna’s father. Her father was the only person she had before she met Ginny, and was the only person there for her when her mom died

  • I like it, personally I’m more of a Ron x Fleur shipper. I kinda like the idea of them meeting during the tri-wizard championship and getting closer though long distance letters. I know Bill x Fleur end up together, but at least for me anyway I don’t really care for their relationship, we don’t meet Bill or Charlie for that matter till Goblet of Fire and even then only a few scenes here and there, the most he did was warn Harry about Griphook. For me Bill and Charkie are like the extra brothers we hear about them a lot and we care about what happens to them because Ron, his other brothers, Ginny, and parents care about them butnits not like we’ve gotten enough time to grow with those characters like we have with the other Weasleys. As I saidnthats just me, but I like Ron x Fleur, but I do enjoy this ship too and can become a supporter of it too, after all just because you like one ship doesn’t mean you can’t like another with the same characters.

  • Glad to see so many comments agreeing with my personal favorite ship: Harry & Luba. They had so many great moment in the books and movie, an actual connection for all of a sudden he has feelings for Ginny. It makes all the sense in the world for Harry to be with Luna someone fun and surreal to take him away from his grin reality

  • Nope! It’s Harry and Luna who are really the closest. They should have ended up together, and Neville with Ginny. Ron and Hermione as usual. Who else would have been better to help Harry tell the world the truth about dark magic than Luna? Who else had seen death at a young age? Who really helped him find the Diadem? And Neville went after Ginny right away from the time of the Ball. He would have fit in with the Weasley crazy lifestyle. Ginny would have had the patience to help him heal his parents. (Ginny should have killed Bellatrix herself). Ginny would have been a fantastic Quidditch coach at Hogwarts when Neville taught herbology. Harry and Luna could have taught DADA together and run the Quibbler out of the school. Ron would have made a great house husband for Minister of Magic Hermione. ❤

  • I love this and agree it could have been a good fit. Then again, there needed to be a way to break Hermione from being a Potter crush, which allowed the Ginny crush to “win” (with help from Hermione). Plus there’s the fact that Hermione was, in many ways, quite similar to Molly. I get the impression that Arthur may have been quite similar to Ron as a student, falling for a strong woman who probably also was better in magic. For us Muggles, few of us end up with our HS crush to the same long-time relationship as in the book.

  • I never liked the Harry and Hermione shipping – I always thought Ron and Hermione was perfect for each other (in the books, movie Ron can throw himself of a cliff…). And what’s more, I always shipped Luna and Harry, as I thought it was always a bit strange that he fell for Ginny when he had Luna RIGHT THERE!

  • I don’t particularly agree with this article. There’s a fairly common idea that Luna is neurodivergent-coded, and as someone who’s neurodivergent (ASD & ADHD), I immensely relate to Luna. If I was in Luna’s position think I would only wish Ron good luck. This wouldn’t be to spite Harry. It’d just be that I know Ron is nervous and I know Harry is experienced and also the team captain so it just wouldn’t occur to me to wish Harry good luck. I don’t think the lion’s hat supporting Gryffindor is just for Ron, I think it’s for her friends from DA, who are primarily Gryffindor. I’ve been told I can come across as flirting when I think I’m just complementing someone or stating my thoughts.

  • I watched the movies growing up without reading the books, so when I did read them, I knew Ron and Hermione ended up together. But as I read, I absolutely thought the canon pairings were clunky and mismatched. Absolutely no shade to book Ginny, because she’s AMAZING. I just always thought Ron+Luna and Harry+Hermione made so much more sense.

  • …I thought it was Team Rocket. Embarrassing. Expecting a Pokemon joke the whole time. Never really considered Red Moon, but it does make sense now. Harry/Hermione main myself, but I did wonder about Neville/Ginny at one point, I think she’d be good for him in a confidence-building sort of relationship while he could handle the Weasley family craziness pretty well. Not against Harry/Ginny, Harry was practically adopted by the whole Weasley Clan by Book Two anyway. Now that it’s been out a while, any inklings for a Hogwarts Legacy theory? The player character of the game seems like an insane amount of theory fodder and my personal theory is that they’re a descendant of Merlin if only because of all those dang trials of his in the game.

  • I think it should have happened like this: harmione, red moon, ginnel/nevinny(?) The trio have all had their extra interests (harry/cho, hermione/krumm, ron/thatonegirl) and even ginny had hers (dean thomas) and possibly neville had his (hannah abbott?). So everyone had someone to experiment with. But they should have ended up in those combinations

  • Unlike a lot of people, I actually like Harry & Ginny (Hermione should have married Viktor, IMHO), and i have nothing against Luna’s canon husband. But I can easily accept Ron & Luna, although if this were to happen, I wish that it had been foreshadowed much more clearly: as it stands, I needed to watch this article to pick up on ANY of the clues.

  • I just feel like if you allow yourselves to explore…you might find that actually Hermione and George are a much better fit than Hermione and Harry. …but I just can’t imagine anyone wanting to be with Harry. 😬 I know, I know. I also like pineapple pizza and well-done steak 🥺 I’ve been delt a bad hand of opinions lol

  • I know you two are big Harry+Hermione shippers, but I really can’t stress enough how much I disagree with you. When I finished reading the books for the first time, one of my first thoughts was about how refreshing it was to have a story with a Main Boy and a Main Girl that wasn’t all about how they inevitably fall in love and hook up. How the Hero gets the Girl as a prize for saving the day. Boys and Girls can’t just be *friends*, after all! /sarcasm It’s also why I’m not a fan of Neville + Luna. “Pair the Spares” is such a tiresome old trope. Anyways, not going to rant forever on it. Just know that there are some of us out there that are staunchly opposed to your Ships. 😉

  • You’ve convinced me that Luna had a crush on Ron, although I still love the OG pairings the best! (At least in the books) Although Ron is initially annoyed by Hermione’s intensity (leviOsa) he gradually starts to love that intensity about her, especially because he sees that she has such a good and moral heart, values they both share. And he admires how smart and gifted she is. Hermione loves that Ron isn’t intimidated by her passion, and they even enjoy going toe-to-toe together, debating various things – to the point where they’re both very offended when Harry snaps at them for bickering too much. While Ron isn’t as book smart as Hermione, he has a more intuitive kind of intelligence that helps ground Hermione’s head knowledge. Ron is also fiercely loyal and empathetic where it counts, which we see Hermione swooning over multiple times. Whereas Harry loves Hermione like a sister. He also sees these great qualities about her, but romantically I think she’s too serious for him. Harry is very traumatized from his childhood, and he needs someone who can remind him to find joy in every day life, who can make him laugh. When Ron and Harry aren’t speaking, Harry just hangs out with Hermione and he really feels the absence of the laughter and lightheartedness that Ron brings. That’s why I think Ginny is perfect for him. IN THE BOOKS Ginny is incredibly funny and charming. She can be passionate too about the important things, but she knows how to have a good time. This is something Harry needs in a partner to lift him out of the seriousness of his life.

  • Yeah, because Hermione just insulted her father. Hagrid, is not her father. Obviously, she is going to react differently. Also, after the insult, Luna looks at him with a mostly bored expression. It and you said ‘mildly interesting television programme’. That, too me suggests boredom, something one would stick on in the background for noise. ‘Ron’ is his nickname, something a friend would use. Ronald is formal; not intimate. The song, is popular. The subject matter is absolutely horrible. But, if you heard two hundred people singing it at a match; it would probably stick in your head too. Ron and Harry are so unobservant, its annoying to frustrating. Considering how Ron treats most of the women he knows. I don’t think they would work out. But, then again, I’m biased as I don’t like ron at all.

  • I remember reading this at a kid and automatically assumed that Luna was going to be Rons love interest, Krum was going to be Hermione, I knew enough that Ginny was going to be Harry’s and Cho was a crush. But during the dance, I was like, what?? Ron like’s Hermione? Why? They are way too similar in personality. Luna is the complete opposite to Ron, it only makes sense. People on the Hermione & Harry train confuses me even more. Harry was always bored by Herminone. BOOK Ginny was always the clear choice, especially with the parallels of Mrs. Weasley and Harry’s mom and then him noticing the eyes of Mrs Weasley and Gina’s eyes in comparison to Lily’s eyes and Harry’s

  • Hear me out: Personaly i think Romione is a great ship and also Ginny and Harry are good together. But Red moon wouldn’t be so bad. Also, one of the ships i like the most is Oliver Wood and Angelica Johnson. In my opinion they are really good together even though Angelica ends up with George and they aren’t much important characters. I love Wood anyway he’s my all time fav! And Angelica is a perfect match for him. What do u think?? Great vides btw keep up with the good work!

  • Sorry Jay but…no. Hard no. I love you guys and your theories but Ron and Luna being together (or Harry and Hermione for that matter) is a dreadful idea 😂. I agree that Ron definitely enjoys havinf Luna around, but it’s not because he likes her, its because she’s so weird she’s amusing. She’s a freak show, something from the zoo, not a person. And i know this because when i was a kid, i was Luna Lovegood (still am tbh. Im just done with school now); i was weird looking, i had really out there interests, i was autistic and i was brutally honest. And there were a lot of people who found me really fun to be around, and it took me a long time to realize that the reason thwy liked having me around wasnt because they liked ME it was because i was a circus freak to them. So weird I was entertaining. Not actually a person. And that’s exactly how Ron sees Luna. From the perspective of someone who hasnt ever been so odd they were barely seen as human i can see how it could look like Ron and she could be cute together but the way he talks about her hurt me. Everything Ron says about Luna that seems complimentary is, when you think about it, super insulting. ‘shes grown on me’ = ‘I’ve gotten used to her enough that i dont find her disturbing, so now her weirdness is funny’, ‘i loved your commentary’ = ‘god it was so funny because you’re a whackjob’, ‘she’s great isnt she? Always good value’ = ‘god she’s so weird it’s entertaining. Its always great having her around because she’s hillarious without knowing it’, etc.

  • Luna didn’t go and speak to Padma, since Padma is a gossip git (as I call those people) she most likely heard Padma complaining about it. Luna also says to Ron that “You didn’t treat her very nicely” Red Moon theory of Luna having interest in Ron hung, drawn and qarted in one explanation and I’m only at the opening of your theory 4:32 mark… Yesh! I do love Luna as shes mad n quirky … Go mad n quirky people!

  • I have watched so many of your articles I can’t count. I have really liked a lot you have done. Especially the “Dumbledor’s Big Plan”. But any time someone says Harry should be with Hermione or Ron and Hermione should not be together I can easily determine the person never read the books. So, the fact you made this article completely dissolved everything. I did not like your What if Harry was in Slytherin or What if Nevil was the chosen one articles, but they did not bother me. I understand you guys think Slytherin is great. But to suggest Ron should be with Luna is as laughable as Nevil with Luna. I know. You have nothing else you can talk about. But What makes the Harry Potter books is how they were written. Changing a character to fit what you want is what is wrong with Hollywood and all their trashing of existing IPs. Ron would never be interested in Luna. He thought she was Loony. You would fundamentally have to change Ron, like the movies did, to make him want to be with Luna. I say all this cause I am extremely disappointed in this. I will not watch this garbage. And yes for the first time ever I hit dislike on a article of yours.

  • I don’t really feel like Ron and Luna should be together but that Ron and Hermione shouldn’t be together. Throughout the series we see them have problems communicating effectively and being overly critical and harsh with each other. I don’t believe that they would have lasted 20 years together with how they treat each other. Which makes me think love isn’t the only magic at play. My guess is love potion. We know that Ron spent some time working in his brother’s joke shop and that they produce effective love potions. Ron struggled to get along with females in the story except for Hermione and that was largely due to Harry. Did Ron drug Hermione into “Loving” Him?

  • Noooooo. Why would you do that to Luna. I like Ron but I can only imagine him bullying and belittling her. Luna needs a free spirit, who accepts her quirky way and loves her more because of them. I also think Ron and Hermione is an awful match as well. He would spend his married life with someone who is constantly letting him know he is wrong about everything. Hermione needs a strong personality. Does Kingsley Shacklebolt have a grandson?

  • I HATE the Har-mione ship, but I’m honestly kinda down with Ron and Luna, I really wish they had at least dated (maybe instead of Lavender? 🤭) but I do like Ron and Hermione ending up together because Hermione needed someone as fun and down-to-earth as Ron to balance her out 😂 Harry had WAY too much stress on him to be able to balance her out lol

  • One point you didn’t add, it’s mentioned that Ginny and Ron would sometimes play with Luna when they were younger. She was that casual neighborhood friend a lot of people have before going to Hogwarts. Which is why Ron knew what Luna’s house looked like and where she lived in book 7, he’s been there. I’ve always noticed the slow build friendship between the two of them. I always felt it was very well done in the books. And I say this as an avid Ron and Hermione shipper, Luna is the only other woman in the books I could really see Ron being with. When Hermione first met Luna she totally saw her as a threat because of how she laughed at Ron’s joke. But it’s also because she has a different kind of intelligence than Hermione has. Luna thinks of what could be in the world and Hermione thinks of the world in terms of facts. Honestly I feel that’s partly why Luna is Ravenclaw and Hermione is Gryfindor. I head cannon that when ever they had to work together for a Ministry project Ron would have to be the go between for the two of them. Because while Ron is very logical, he knows there are some things in their world that aren’t absolute and the facts as they know them could sometimes be proven wrong. Yes, Hermione, books can be proven wrong. And Hermione has her own prejudices, too. Honestly you made her sound too perfect. Just look at how she and Ginny treated Fleur. And I like that about her, because it makes her human. I don’t like when people take that away.

  • They would have dated, but for a lasting relationship, Luna would need someone that was at least partially interested with magical beasts (pun: and where to find them). That is why she would end up with a Scamander. Ron, having actually achieved the recognition he wanted from Hogwarts (mirror of erised), would move on to trying to be recognized for something else, like Head of the Auras, or Department of Magic, while wanting from a spouse a good mother to his children, not necessarily a person seeking new magical beasts.

  • Ok, hear me out…Ron and Luna, yes they make sense. But also Hermione and Draco. To see Draco fully renounce his old ways by falling for a mudblood and it explains why he singles her out so much. Neville and Jenny. She starts out a shy good hearted girl that grows up to be super beautiful and popular and so does Neville. Plus, to see Neville be the one to get the coolest girl in school would be amazing. And Harry and Fleur Delacour’s little sister. Beautiful minor character that would show that these relationships still developed and changed even after the series ended. Who marries their high school sweetheart right out of high school when they have a dangerous job catching dark wizards? No, it’s much more believable that Harry stays single until he becomes head of the department, at which time Fleurs little sister is all grown up and working for the ministry as well, plus with their mutual connections they would of come in contact with each other occasionally.

  • Look at the 5th year train ride different Hermione basically insulted Luna’s father and his livelihood while Ron only insulted Luna herself. Also I think Luna gravitates to Ron, and Ron is more supportive of Luna because they knew each other befor Hogwarts. Hermione also eases up on Luna i think because she realizes Luna is more than her belief in the cryptids of the magical world. Hermione would have the same reactions to a muggle that believes in aliens. Personally i am more of a Neville/Luna shipper myself and have been since i read the OotP for the first time. I have also been on a Hermione/Fred and Harry/Daphne Greengrass kick lately though i usually read Hermione/Harry stuff.

  • I’ll disagree with this ship. It seems cute in the books because they are hormonal high school kids with a very limited dating pool. JK herself has said she regretted having Ron and Hermione get together, but that is just apart of life. Not every marriage or relationship is going to be forever because you met them in high school. Rolf Scamander and Luna likely didn’t have great times at Hogwarts and felt more at home in the wild, where they met and fell in love. Ron wouldn’t have been able to do that for Luna. He feels lacking in the wonderful of the unknown! While Luna and Ron would have made a cute High School pair; it wouldn’t have been a great marriage. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprise if Luna ended up leaving Ron shortly after they were married for this reason. Good friends, yes; married partners, no.
