  2. Place your first and last names on the first line.
  3. Place your professor’s name on the next line.
  4. Place your course name, date, title of paper, and first paragraph on the next line.
  5. Include your last name followed by the page number in a right justified manner.
  6. Create a cover page if necessary.
  7. Understand the information you are reading about and use clear and concise language.
  8. Submit your essay as an attachment or separate document.
  9. Use a general format that includes your name, id number, class name, assignment name, and date.
  10. Include your name, the course name or code, the paper cover or number, and the date.

In order to properly head a paper, start with your name and student ID number. Provide the name and number of the course you are writing for.

For example, if you are writing a paragraph, include your name and page number in the header on the right-hand side.

For APA Style student papers, follow these basic setup directions:

  1. Establish a clear structure and formatting.
  2. Start with a cover page if necessary.
  3. Write your thesis statement, which is the idea you want to convince your reader of.
  4. In case your paper becomes too long, revise and rewrite for readability and structure.

In conclusion, creating a well-structured college paper requires careful planning, research, and revision. By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your paper meets academic expectations and effectively heads your college assignment.

The thesis statement is the most crucial sentence in a paper, presenting your answer to the essay prompt and setting up the body paragraphs. It should be strong and well-supported. While creating an evidence list, consider jotting down potential arguments and experiment with different ones to see if you have the necessary evidence. The thesis statement will differ in expository and argumentative essays, but the general idea is the same: it sums up your paper’s point of view.

  • I use canvas and have since I started college (fall of 2015 when I graduated high school but I’m behind like you said you were but that’s why college is great because you can do it at your own pace!). This semester I’m taking accounting, business math and and elective which is general psychology. Math is what takes me the longest! I literally spend about 7 hours straight on it a week because I refuse to do it all week and then cram it into one day lol but that also means I get to be lazy the rest of the week. I’m going through Indiana university but am taking everything online even though I could commute to campus because I have clinically diagnosed generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks that are both centered around social settings so yeah. I also don’t, erm heh heh, listen to my lectures 😬 I have a month off between all of my semesters (spring, summer, fall, and winter) too so Christmas is awesome!

  • My online college also uses Canvas. I like it. I do have a question for you regarding ASU. I wouldn’t be attending for the same program that you are but I’m curious what the class work is like. Are there a lot of essay assignments and portfolio projects to turn in for each course? My current school has A LOT of writing and projects. I’m currently looking into transferring online schools due to this. I honestly feel like I’m not learning anything because I am having to rush to complete all the writing assignments. P.S. My degree has nothing to do with writing nor do my current courses. Please let me know how ASU’s course work is laid out so maybe I can look into this online college.
