Do shoes have to match?

To look polished, avoid matching your outfit’s material to your shoes. Instead, choose footwear in the same color as your outfit but in a different material, like velvet or metallic, to add texture. Some fabrics look better together than others. Classic pairings include patent leather or suede with denim, velvet with winter clothes, and strappy with summer shorts and dresses. For a more refined look, opt for leather flats or oxfords, pointed-toe heels, or sleek loafers.

Appropriate dressing involves dressing with the occasion in mind and finding the right shoes to complement your look. For example, if you’re wearing formal attire, ensure your shoes are not too casual.

Is it OK to have 2 pairs of shoes?

Rotating shoes is crucial for extending their life and protecting the investment in quality footwear. Over 250, 000 sweat glands in the feet produce approximately 4 oz of foot sweat daily, which soaks up the perspiration. As shoes wear, the leather absorbs this sweat, but it’s normal as long as the shoes allow ample time to dry. If shoes aren’t allowed to air out for at least 24 hours, the sweat-soaked leather will warp, lose shape, become musty, and stink. Additionally, damp leather is more susceptible to stretching, scuffing, creasing, and staining. Therefore, it’s essential to rotate shoes to prevent damage and maintain their quality.

What does wearing mismatched shoes mean?

Wearing two different shoes in public signifies acceptance of individuality and disregard for social norms. National Two Different Colored Shoes Day, created by Dr. Arlene Kaiser, takes place on May 3 every year to recognize and celebrate human diversity. Wearing two different colors of shoes is the perfect way to celebrate the day, but if you can’t, you can still embrace your individuality by adding a burst of color or patterns to your outfit.

Which colour shoes is more attractive?

Black and brown shoes are the most suitable colors for a dress, depending on the dress’s style and personal preference. Black shoes are suitable for formal occasions, business attire, and evening events, creating a sleek and sophisticated look. Brown shoes offer a warmer, more casual feel and are best paired with earth tones like beige, tan, or brown dresses. Colors can influence mood and enhance fashion statements, so it’s important to consider your preferences when choosing shoes. Top-quality women’s trainers are available in mouth-watering colors, and you can make your choice from the available options on our website.

The fashion world is currently captivated by ballet flats, a schoolgirl staple that can be paired with various outfits. Some prefer classic flats, while others opt for Mary Janes or fall’s T-bar trend. The styling should be coquettish, with quarter-length socks, a crewneck cardigan, and capri pants for brunch, or pleated skirts, blazers, and colored tights for a school uniform.

Ultrapreppy footwear, such as boat shoes and camp moccasins, is resurgence, with a significant uptick in New York and TikTok. Classic Sperry and Sebago or Miu Miu lookalikes from Steve Madden are recommended. Moccasins are also on the rise, with Clarks offering flats that fit the vibe.

Fall wedding season is starting to heat up, and event-ready footwear is especially foot-friendly. Ladylike kitten heels have made their way into the mainstream, blending chic and practicality. This edit, available in fall’s hottest colors, is perfect for slinky sweaterdresses or tailored suits, with pumps, slingbacks, or mules to complement any outfit.

The text suggests wearing equality shoes by everyone, regardless of their size, to symbolize equality. However, the downside is the cost of two pairs of shoes. Instead, share the shoes with someone with the same size feet to make a statement and share love. The author is pleased to see many people moving to Newnan, a town filled with kind and loving people. They recommend reading “The Paper” for information about Newnan, the Square, and Coweta County, as well as Mr. Personality’s column for entertaining reads. Is it okay to wear different color shoes?

When pairing fashion-forward outfits, avoid matching colors head to toe, as this can make you appear a blur of color. Instead, use different shades and slight differences to avoid being a blur of color. Wearing a shorter dress and showing off some skin can break your look apart. Opt for different shades or bold colors with neutrals for the most appealing appearance.

When selecting shoes for your outfit, consider the length of your dress. Long dresses work well with heels, as they complement the long skirt and add elevation, preventing tripping hazards. Conversely, short dresses offer more flexibility in footwear.

A major fashion don’t is pairing long dresses with tall boots. Chunky over-the-knee boots and a long dress create an overwhelming look that hides your natural figure and drowns you out in a sea of material. Avoid pairing chunky, tall boots with long dresses unless you are wearing an old fashion hoop dress with tight knee-high lace-up boots.

What is it called when a pair of shoes are two different colors?

Two-toned shoes are wardrobe essentials with two contrasting colors. They are perfect for bold individuals who want to catch the eye. While neutral looks can be achieved with a single shoe color, two-tone shoes offer a bolder choice. Flamboyance is a must-have for the brave, and these shoes can be styled with ease. Discover various types of two-tone shoes and how to wear them for different occasions.

Color is in the spotlight as designers and Hollywood are celebrating the trend of vibrant colors. This spring/summer collection is diverse and colorful, featuring bright solid colors, soft pastels, and colorful mixes. Black, brown, and beige are staying in the wardrobe this summer. Fashion houses Hermés, Valentino, and Carolina Herrera are all embracing the colorful wave. Labels like Unisa, Birkenstock, Softclox, and HUGO are also embracing the colorful wave, with HUGO focusing on bubblegum pink and soft pastel shades, Unisa on bright purple metallic, and Gabor celebrating orange.

Birkenstock, known for its no compromises, offers baby blue, mint, and orange. The “colorful sandals” look is achieved by repeating the color theme, allowing the sandals to blend harmoniously into the overall look.

  • Unpopular opinion, but I’m not the biggest fan of mismatching sneakers 😅😅 I feel like it really messes with the uniformity of an outfit, but that might just be me. I do like the Saucony and AF1s you showed though — even though they’re mismatched, they’re subtle enough to still look “consistent”. Neutrals are always a go-to when matching louder pieces (i.e. challenge #2 in our outfit battle (😉)) but I liked the tip about matching the darker accent color on the shoe! You get a complementary look without being too matchy overall. I personally wouldn’t buy the Jordan WhatThe5’s or any of the bolder ones, but I think the low key ones could be promising.

  • As a person who has trouble matching normal clothes every day this article was ESSENTIAL bro! Another key to rocking mismatched shoes I would say is confidence 😎 I think the What the 5’s look dope, I’m excited for those to come out (probably won’t be able to get them tho lol), I was also a big fan of the Melody Ehsani 1s, but definitely didn’t notice that mismatched was becoming more of a trend so thanks for keeping me hip 🙏always love when you throw the Zach Galifianakis meme in your articles 😂

  • Interesting trend. But when you think about it it I am surprised this hasn’t been around for a while as people do it with socks so it would naturally make sense to be shoes next hahah. Question: thoughts on 2 watches. One on left and one on right? I do Garmin on right and Invicta on left. Thoughts on fashion? Or seen before? Great article man, I like your opinions and how you shared your thoughts. Keep rocking

  • Less is more!! In college, I was all about having most of my pieces bring loud and matchy matchy. In this, situation I believe you are totally correct with matching just one color and or keeping it neutral. I think there might me rare circumstances other than these two tips but they are rare and I don’t know what they are 😂😂

  • Neutrals are a safe bet to match almost all shoes. I like the sneakers you shared even though they were mismatched, it really wasn’t too obvious until you pointed out their subtleties. Now sneakers that are designed to be mismatched intentionally work with most outfits, but if you wear a pair that are from 2 separate shows that might be more challenging lol.

  • Sorry to say (just my opinion) I don’t like most of the shoes/boots you showed. Even a couple of the “ins”. Mary Janes and ballet flats are for 12 year olds and no older. I never got the trend of sneakers with a pretty dress. Don’t wear “kitten heel thongs”. How can you possibly walk in those😮?? Keep on advising us of the new trends. I always enjoy perusal and being informed 🎉

  • Dunks and Converse are classics. I just watched 2 different fashion YouTubers (who actually have cool style and have or had careers in fashion, outside of YouTube ) feature Nikes in their what to wear articles. It’s fun to know what’s trending, but it has to be taken with a grain of salt. There’s not much true style in these articles, it’s buy this …now it’s out of style, so buy this, blah, blah, blah

  • I can’t follow this. I am not buying shoes every year to follow what is in style. I buy what I like and what I buy tends to be an investment so I am not going to give them up because it isn’t on trend. Braided strap heels fan here still. Also the green sneakers from the beginning of the article are not cute. I have seen them around and I just don’t think they look good and I can’t wear flat sneakers like that. Pointed toe is also not flattering on me so I can’t just follow what is being recommended. Although, it is interesting to see what is trendy now. It’s just not always my jam.

  • I guess I’m out of style but the Reeboks bring me back to my parents in the 90s. Can’t do it. Even if it’s in lol. I’m still into the dunks and they are still in style where I live so I’m ok for now lol The TB flats were my jam for years lol. I did retire them and it hurt bc I loved them lol. By the way Your hair looks beautiful

  • I just wear my shoes till they are so worn out you can’t wear them anymore. I still have a pair of high top converse from four years ago but I can’t wear them anymore because I wore a hole in the bottom. I wore them everywhere, I climbed trees in them, went in the woods, run, even fell in the creek in the woods about half a mile from our house. Looked for a pair that looked like the original in November and could not find a single one 😤 they were all crazy colors and designs, platforms, and one pair even had lace on them. I was on vacation when I wore the hole through and needed new shoes so I ended up getting low top Vans. If I want a new pair of shoes I have to get rid of some first so I got rid of all my flats and replaced them with high heels because I love them and like the extra height because I feel short all the time.

  • Many times when prices drop and things go “out of style” It’s because the market is over saturated and there is just so much of that product out there. I remember when VCRs were $700, Then everybody got them and the price dropped.. Doesn’t mean they went out of style Initially. now they are of course because of technology l o l

  • It has been hard to find the white Reebok classic sneaker as some stores have stopped selling them. I want a pair as I love the look plus I don’t think they’ll ever go entirely out. And if they do, I’ll still wear them! 😛 I just bought an original pair of the vintage black classic Reeboks, Princess edition, brand new at Goodwill for $9.99! That was such an amazing find!

  • I LOVE your articles! And I especially love it when you do whatever it is you do with technology to change your voice. I have no idea how that is done, but it, combined with your special sense of humor is very funny and entertaining! Thank you! I haven’t worn Reeboks white sneakers or any white sneakers for that matter, in AGES, but thanks to you and some other YouTube influencers I’m beginning to consider buying them, especially for my upcoming 5 week trip to Amsterdam and England.

  • FINALLY received my own account with my picture!! So grateful to my son! Was using by husband’s ….. and even received comments from others ‘this is a women’s fashion site’ when I had forgotten to mention I was using husband’s site. And I truly understand those comments! THANK YOU for your style and comments!! Very helpful!! I’m shrinking and 4’11.5″ at 54…. and expect to shrink more! Have a great day!! 💕

  • All these shoes would have been the rage and now they are out! I didnt like them then and I don’t like the ones you are sharing now! Why make women’s feet big and bulky? Why make them so masculine! Maybe for teens, but not for women! Flats are out, but mesh flats are in? The pointed toe shoes remind me of witches shoes! The strappy shoes are cute but not for over fifty! And those big chunky shoes look like they weigh a ton!.And the “H” shoes.. So over done by everyone! And why would you want to wear those big boots all day long? They are stylish but just to much for someone trying to get around all work day! Classic shoes, pumps or flats, cute, feminine sandals for work or play, and an occasional dressy shoe! And just maybe a athletic walking shoe for exercise!

  • I’m a person with ADHD and autism, and I’m addicted to shopping. I’m trying to overconsume less. The thing is, some shoes are more classic, whereas others are more trendy and tied to an era. I admit, I love anything woven, Bottega Veneta-inspired, and I went a bit crazy on the woven shoe trend. I have them in black, tan, a bone color, metallic, and even green. I probably won’t declutter them this season. I just haven’t purchased any more in a hot minute. I bought a nice pair of platform espadrilles from Schutz last year, and personally I think they’re classic. Don’t plan on not wearing them. I’m trying to be less addicted to trends and shopping, and just wear what I like, which is kind of a mix between classic and now. YouTubers make money from Amazon affiliate links and the like, which no shade – it’s their job. But I must remind myself that they’re literally paid to tell us to keep buying.

  • I am so over the trend. It’s fashion designers making the trends to get money from us. I wear what I want to wear I don’t care if it’s in style or not. And where I live most people wear yoga pants Crocs and sweats. I’m still wearing my woven heels, as you say flip flop kitten heels lol 😊. You will be broke get rid of your clothes and buy new clothes. Trends come and go and come back again two seasons later. You’re only doing your job reporting those things.

  • People buy way more than what they need I stopped doing that a few years ago. I realized I was working hard to support shopping. Fast trends are exhausting. I like neutrals and things that are comfortable. The only shoes I’ve purchased in 3 years are my walking sneakers for work. Which I finally replaced this years after 2 years. Thrift shopping and yard sales are better for the environment. I know prices of thrifting have gone up but don’t forget on Sundays Goodwill has 50% on a random color tag!

  • I’m curious who’s saying these styles are out of style. I work for an online retailer and Hey Dudes as ugly as they are, are extremely popular and always topsellers. Also Nike Dunks and Air Force Ones have cult followings. Obviously this is meant for fun and fashion is subjective but some of these were just not in line with industry trends. In 6 months those mesh ballet flats will be on the next of style article 😂

  • I love my Golden Goose sneakers. I have had them for years and they are very comfortable. They go with everything from shorts and jeans to summer dresses and jumpsuits. Purchase quality and what you love. It saves money in the long run. Pair your “out of style” shoes with one or two trendy colored tops and you are good.

  • I just feel like sneakers only look good with super casual athleisure and I’ve totally stopped wanting to wear mine… in the winter I opt for Chelsea boots. And in the summer I prefer sandals. I just feel like maybe they are a younger trend? As I get older I find myself wanting to look less like a casual dressing teenager.

  • I can’t get away from the Nike sales though!! 🤦‍♀️ I just bought a pair of Jordan 1’s for $59 and AF1’s for $40 because Nike only had 1 pair left in my store size of the AF1 and the Jordans were a part of a site wide sale at Finish Line. Those are classics though so I maybe I’m not talking about trends lol 🤷‍♀️

  • I live in NY. The Tri state area is full of dunks as of 2024. Only reason they’re not selling out is probably because Nikes doing what they do best, oversaturating the market with too many colorways 😭 Nobody needs the same shoe silhouette in 10 million different colors. I haven’t been keeping up with the sneaker community as much as I used to but they’re also probably re-releasing popular styles everyone alr has. Idk if people wanna buy the same shoe 5x unless they’re a reseller 😭

  • Every single style of the “In” shoes are drop dead hideous with the exception of the adidas and the mary janes. Ugly shoes are a way bigger fashion crime than “out” of style shoes. Being an elder millennial, I didn’t care for some of the “In” styles the first time around. I especially REALLY don’t care for them now. Like I want to wear a style at 38 that was “cool” when I was 12? 💁‍♀️ Not original, I’ll pass

  • Yeah those green shoes will be in for two weeks. Then not. I don’t wear shoes with numbers. Or even names. I like shoes that fit and are wide in the toe box. No pointy witches for me. On sale works too. I care nothing for style and am glad I don’t live in a place where that matters. Maybe that’s too 🎶 conSerVative 🎶 Maryjanes will always be classic. Whatever. Who wants the grifter Steve Madden name on their clothes? Ew! What is a crazy cowboy in your face boot? One someone who has a farm Would wear?

  • I really dislike square-toe shoes/boots… I find them so unflattering, clunky and ugly to look at. I think the square-toe can look kinda edgy and unique sometimes, but (in general) I don’t find them beautiful or attractive. This especially applies for square-toe high-heels. They look hideous in my opinion. I find an almond-toe shape a lot more feminine, pretty, and sexy. To each their own. (Sorry to yuck someone else’s yum.)

  • Sorry, Shea, but I disagree with most of this article. Simple classics like the Tory Burch Miller sandals will always be in style. Golden Goose are not out of style. Kitten heels? Um, no thank you. Mesh flats, again, nope. Wedges are seen everywhere and are so very much in style and comfortable to wear. Some pairs I’ve had for over 10 years and they are still very much in style. And for real western boots, you need to get some Lucchese boots, not Amazon boots. Lucchese’s are a classic, they last for decades, the quality is amazing, and never go out of style here in Texas. Those Amazon boots look silly IMO. Come to Texas and get some real boots.

  • I appreciate the knowledge you share! I work from home and usually resort to athleisure. But it’s nice to know what’s current. Although it’s exhausting trying to keep up with it. I got the cutest ankle boots because knee high boots were out. Now I come to find that knee high is back? I can’t keep up.

  • Omg thanks for the update but the 2024 Trends are actually horrible. Hey dudes for our beach dudes and flip flop kitten heels with a summer dress for date nights on the beach are a must for everyone here in Florida. I recently decided to only buy classic pieces since I’m older now but I love seeing what is in style because I’m a girl who loves to shop🤷‍♀️💕💕💕💕💕

  • A lot of these shoes are just old styles coming back in fashion. If people ever stopped wearing them. Those green sneakers with the ankle socks just made me think of pictures I saw of my older brother from the 80’s. Just do you. You can look fashionable with what you have, just use accessories. You can buy one current trend item, but you shouldn’t go crazy. Some things don’t last a day.

  • How about buying what YOU like, instead of what some random people have deemed “in style”. It’s not sustainable (for the environment OR your wallet) to buy new shoes every year just to stay on trend, and honestly the desperation to do so is just sad. I’ll be wearing my favourite shoes for as long as they continue to make me feel good.

  • Sneakers get out of style every year. Personally I use them until they break so I buy the trend that I really love because I know I’m going to wear them when nowbody is wearing them anymore. I’m wearing my Golden Goose-ish and happy because I’m the only person that don’t like Sambas and Gazelles, we’ll see what come next.

  • I’m 5’7 and wear a size 10 shoes yes I have a big foot! I can’t wear a lot of different styles of shoes so I wear what makes my foot look a little smaller and not like I’m getting ready to go skiing lol. I love kitten heels but I prefer the sandal style because they do you make my foot look better. I don’t wear sneakers very often only to exercise and I usually always buy black. Some of the shoes are really cute but not for someone with a size 10 foot!

  • The Mary Janes are not summer shoes. Toms on the other side are definitely. It’s the material and the colour. I couldn’t go to Capri with Mary Janes or the other pair, that is extremely ugly btw. Maybe if you spend your summer in a city without sun is ok.. but I spend my summer to Greece and Italy. It’s just weird wearing these shoes with so much heat.

  • Just because something is so called in style now does not mean they are flattering. A lot of times they look just flat out ridiculous. Me personally…..I do what I like and don’t care what others think. I refuse to keep spending money because the fashion world is setting trends. There are ways to look fashionable and looking good without making fashion designers more wealthy.

  • Converse are classics for sure. I still see people wear them everywhere, probably because they go with everything. I think pandas specifically went out of style bc literally everybody has them. If you’re a real sneaker head you know once a sneaker loses value (like she said in the article) it no longer becomes something to flaunt. I saw a article where ppl said pandas was the worst shoe now bc it shows lack of sneaker knowledge and shows that ur too basic 😂

  • I would rather wear shoes I wore 15 years ago than any of your recommendations. All of the so called new styles are butt ugly. I also recall you fervently recommending those woven butterball slides. Even though they were the most hideous cheap looking shoes ever to have been made. I get it that your website is about trends, but the unfortunate thing is that most trendy things are ugly. I wish that you would focus more on style than trends.

  • I’m a 65 year old woman. And I wore patent leather Mary Jane’s when I was a child. I loved them back then. But not so much now. I would kill my self in those chunky heels. They were cute. But not for me. I just gave my granddaughter my Steve Madden Circus sandals. And I know she will wear them. Gave another granddaughter my high top Converse. I’m going to wear what I’m comfortable in. So I don’t break my neck.

  • Nobody has any business wearing a kitten heel lol. I love the classic mary janes, the mesh ballet flat, even the rad slingbacks. BUT they are all just missing “something” for me. The ballet flats could use some kind of strap. The mary janes could use a higher heel or something…..i think im looking for unicorn elements that are going to make these shoes work with EVERY style of pant or jean i own. Bc thats the freaking problem with buying shoes for me 😩

  • I thought the Sambas were out of style now. Once Rishi Sunak wore them, he killed the vibe! I’m still wearing mine though as I like them and they’re really comfortable. I think the low top Converse look so much nicer than the high tops though. I think the high tops are really ugly! I’d never before heard of Hey Dudes. Perhaps they’re not a ‘thing’ in the UK?

  • I love your vibe, your energy, your hair. I don’t often agree with much of your fashion taste though. However, I love all of the skin and health articles❣ And, I have to finally got to say something…that diamond RING! Really? It just screams “Look at me, I HAVE MONEY” The word garrish or tacky comes to mind. So New Money. I still love you very much💖❣❤

  • I’m from Harlem New York..love to look nice ..I love Mary Jane’s and stilettos 👠 good leather penny loafer and sneakers 👟 No kitten heels!! The number #1 sneakers are still in style for us :Air Jordans retros, Air Force ones ..which in New York we called “Uptowns” are always will be in style and people are still buying them.. the Adidas and NB’s 574’s and new 237’s we wear those as well. People wear whatever they want to wear as long they are able to pay for it. I don’t think it should be a problem.
