Child support is a crucial aspect of any parenting agreement, ensuring that both parents contribute financially to the child’s upbringing and cover expenses such as food, clothing, education, and healthcare. The agreement should clearly state the amount of child support to be paid and the frequency of the payments. Parenting plans are part child custody and part strategy, covering who gets which children when and laying out guidelines for making big decisions.
Child support refers to payments made by the noncustodial parent to the custodial parent or a legal guardian to help cover the costs of raising the child. Child support details depend on your state’s child support formula, unless you and the other parent agree to a different amount. Most courts prefer that children develop a relationship with both parents and will structure a parenting plan and visitation schedule to support that goal.
A care arrangement is part of the parenting plan, and parents who share parental responsibility have to agree on a care arrangement describing how the child will be raised. When a parent is granted primary physical custody, the non-custodial parent is usually ordered to make child support payments to the custodial parent.
When deciding which parenting arrangement is best for your children and deciding on other issues like child support, there are many ways to come to an agreement. A custody agreement allows parents to come up with a plan of how to participate in bringing up the child when they are separated. The type of agreement you make and the amount of child support you agree to pay or receive can affect your child support Family Tax Benefit Part A entitlement.

Can I sue my dad for child support in California?
Adult children can sue their parents for unpaid child support, but the process depends on the nature of the child support. Child support is owed from one parent to another to help raise the child, not a debt owed to the child. If the recipient parent wins the lawsuit, the money collected will go to the parent, not the child. However, if the recipient parent has passed and you represent their estate, you can sue for back child support. A disabled child may be able to receive child support beyond the age of 18, and in a past child support lawsuit, they may receive payments directly.
How much do most fathers pay for child support?
The mean monthly child support payment in the United States is approximately $430, with legal and computational standards remaining consistent regardless of the gender of the parent or the gender of the child in question.
What does child support cover in NL?
Special expenses for children include child care, medical or dental premiums, post-secondary education, extracurricular activities, and primary or secondary expenses like tutoring. These expenses are typically shared proportionately to the parents’ respective incomes, with a 50/50 split. However, parents can make a different agreement. All special expenses must be reasonable and necessary, as what is reasonable may vary from family to family and child to child.
Can parents agree to no child support in California?
California child support laws state that both parents are mutually responsible for their children’s support, and parents cannot waive or eliminate child support obligations, even if both agree. Defining child custody requires significant planning to prioritize the children’s best interests. Child support is seen as a means to ensure both parents contribute financially to their children’s upbringing.
The amount of child support is typically determined based on factors such as each parent’s income, the child’s needs, and the time each parent spends with the child. Can a mother cancel child support in Florida?
Florida is introducing a new law that acknowledges fathers’ rights beyond their financial means to pay child support. The law allows parents to stop child support through stipulated agreements or modification of child support. This move is a step towards addressing the long-standing issue of fathers being unable to stop child support. The new laws provide fathers with the ability to take care of their child beyond child support.
Does child support go down if the father has another baby in Florida?
Florida law does not explicitly mention “remarriage” or “childbirth” as grounds for modifying child support. The payor cannot reduce an existing child support obligation by claiming they need to support their additional children. Even if ordered to pay child support for a new child, they cannot use the new obligation to reduce the pre-existing order. However, if the payor can prove a substantial change in circumstances warrants a modification, they may be able to reduce the amount of child support.
Do you get child support after divorce in the Netherlands?
Child support is available to a parent whose ex-partner has more income than the parent. The amount is calculated using Treman standards and depends on the child’s need. The agreement will be recorded in the parenting plan. Factors considered include the net family income before divorce, the capacity of parents, the number of children, the age of the children, and the care arrangement agreed upon in the parenting plan.
The parent is responsible for the care and upbringing of their children, covering various costs such as food, clothing, toys, school fees, and sports and hobbies. If the child lives with the ex-partner, they will bear many of these costs. Child support is intended to help cover these costs.
How much does a father have to pay for child support in the Netherlands?
Spousal maintenance is a financial contribution owed to a partner after divorce, typically determined by family courts. The guidelines state that a parent must pay a minimum of €25 per child per month, unless special circumstances are proven. This law applies to all marriages and civil partnerships, but not if parties only cohabit. Spousal maintenance is typically agreed upon amicably or determined by the courts, with a minimum of €25 per child per month.
Who has custody of a child in a divorce Netherlands?
In the event of a divorce, both parents are designated as legal guardians, thereby affording them equal authority in matters pertaining to the child’s upbringing, including decisions related to education, medical care, and child placement. This arrangement ensures that the decision-making authority of one parent does not affect the other’s custody rights.
Can parents agree to no child support in FL?
Child support payments can be waived or stopped if both parents agree, but a judge can still order child support if they feel it is unfair. In practice, judges usually follow parental agreements unless they suspect one parent has not entered the decision in good faith. If a parent surrenders their parental rights, they no longer have to pay child support but cannot request visitation rights. This can happen when the custodial parent has a new partner wanting to legally adopt the child or does not want the child to know the other parent.
The support agreement is void when the child turns 18 unless special circumstances exist, and it is automatically terminated if one parent dies. The court may also terminate the agreement if the parent loses their job or goes to prison. In these cases, the court may alter payments rather than terminate the agreement altogether.

Child support is typically paid until the child reaches the age of majority, which is 19 in Newfoundland and Labrador. If the child continues to be dependent on the parents, such as attending post-secondary school or being physically or mentally disabled, support may be payable beyond this age. A child support order may allow automatic recalculation of child support on an annual basis, with the Recalculation Office notifying parties of any changes in child support payments.
📹 Support Court – Child support when parents agree of settlement
Mary Proctor has come to court to ask for the child support amount that her ex pays to be reduced, since the father (Jacob Proctor) …
I had a feeling that she was at least abused, from the first word out of her mouth. Her body language, not holding eye contact, looking scared, and fidgety. Then I got the creeps when they showed the ex-husband. If you haven’t been in an abusive relationship, it might not be as plain to see. I truly hope she is being taken seriously by the police, even though I doubt it.
Her voice was very telling and it was obvious something was seriously wrong. The fact that this was based on a real court case is horrible and my heart goes out to the poor woman involved. I hope she and her children are somewhere safe from harm. Because it’s a given fact that certain type of men are rarely held accountable when they break the law….especially if they’re not black.
When she first started talking then they showed what he looked like I was already getting abusive vibes. The fact that she had the amount down to the cents made me get even more sketchy vibes. Even if he isn’t physically abusive he seems like he’s atleast emotionally abusive. If I’m wrong she’s one hell of an actress
This particular court case bugged me a little bit. You would think that ANY judge would have the power to at least make sure that woman was safe based on her words and the obvious fear she portrayed in her body language whether it’s support court or any other courtroom.. not sarcastically say that she needed a drink after the case was over. We are taught that we should speak out, tell someone if we’re being harmed by another human being and this woman told a judge of all ppl who basically brushed her off. I found myself in a DV situation in my mid 20’s.. this was back in the 90’s when laws weren’t as strict about DV yet. I stood in a courtroom with my abuser too and my body shook out of fear just being in the same room with him, that’s how far he tore me down. The judge standing before me was also female and I mustered up the courage to ask her for assistance in merely getting to my car bc my abuser was a very bold man and I feared he would hurt me in the parking lot.. and he did just that! I was ignored too, I would have thought things would have changed by now and they would have written something more to this storyline. At minimum, as far as the child support was concerned, the judge should have kept the same arrangement in place until further notice.. until the ex wife’s claims of abuse were founded or not.
The child support should have never been changed since she clearly said she wasn’t okay with the agreement and was scared for her life… this was obviously for entertainment purposes. No judge would have let that go and just agreed to what he threatened her to say. Plus, had anything happened after the hearing it would be on the judge for not Intervening in some way.
Wow I can’t believe the judge just dismissed her accusations. The guard in there should of walked her over to the protective order judge because she could of walked out of there in danger ⛔️. That was weird that’s like being a health care professional walking by seeing someone choking and me saying well I’m not at work and keep walking
It appeared from the beginning that she was not happy about what she was saying. If she then recanted and said she was being abused and so were the children, then there shouldn’t have been any agreement put in place. It was evident that if she brought income documentation for him to court, she didn’t want a reduction to $415. She was being coerced by him. They should be in family court where there can be further investigation. Sounds like these children may need a guardian ad litem, as well as counseling. Both parents need to be evaluated.
She seems absolutely terrified… This legit made me go white. He seems extremely dominate and controlling of her. He just gives me a REAL bad vibe once she broke down. The statement about life insurance got me all choked up. Id hope as a judge she would have stepped up and reported it afterwards. You never know
This case was a let down, she turned around and told you that she did not agree with the amount and she also told you why, I feel you let her down on this case it was apparent that thus lady was afraid of this man, you could have stopped this case and had the police called for her to then do the things you told her to do…how in the hell is four children going to live off of 415.00 a month…
I’m certain that that got thrown out down the road. She may have “adopted it” just to keep the courtroom calm until she could summon help. You always have to think of the different angles. She’s just been made aware that this woman is under duress, and that this man is potentially violent, and can be potentially lethal. The safest thing to do is keep the court as CALM as possible until she can summon enough help to subdue that individual, and then go back and toss that “ruling” as the filer being “under duress”. As she said, in today’s court, they would have immediately issued a TRO and addressed custody right there, but to do that, you have to have enough people IN that courtroom to keep everyone safe from harm. You guys have to remember that when they are in there, they are looking out not just at the two people in front of them, but everyone in the “audience” waiting to be called up as well. That’s a LOT of people and lives to be responsible for.
This woman literally broke down asking for help because she is afraid her husband will kill her, and the judge tells her to call 911, and then says “she will need a drink after this case”, is so unprofessional. She should have adjourned the court, had the woman taken into another room and call the police herself so she could make a report. She can prove he makes over One Million a year? Come on Judge, even I know better than that! He has her petrified. Stop posing for the camera and be a real judge.
I’ve enjoyed this show until this one. Whether this is a true case or just a reenactment, it made me pause & question how on earth ANY human let alone a court would just dismiss the fear in that mother’s voice for the safety of her life &/or her children’s lives! Shame on you guys for just ignoring her fear!!!! “Take that matter up with another court/police.” Who’s to say this mother will even survive getting home to her children today!! Remember this is regarding TX cases where women are NOT equal citizens!!
Only one of those children are old enough for camp, baseball and all that other crap, she also told you that she has sent the children away and that for her safety she was leaving as soon as thus was over so he couldn’t hurt her,…I’m a child of domestic abuse I watched my father kick my mother around for years because he couldn’t get away from him and couldn’t get help from the system,..she couldn’t even kill him because she would have went to jail and then who would take care of the kids….you need a better system in place before all our women die trying to get help from the powers that be
I fled Houston because my husband was abusive to myself and my son,(later I found out I was pregnant and had another son who has autism) when I took him to child support court they said he wasn’t obligated to pay support because he got on SSI saying he was depressed because I left him I am a single disabled mom of two disabled boys and have gotten NO support from him in 14 years. Thanks Texas.
I think this script was poorly written,as far as the judge’s verdict went. I think once the lady declared she was coerced by the husband to ask for a lower amount, etc, the judge should’ve canceled the case and refer the matter to the police, and definitely not award the woman the lower support requested. I may be totally wrong, but I don’t think the case was correctly handled.
This woman clearly stated she didn’t feel comfortable with that agreement and had proof he made millions of dollars and just agreed to that because she was terrified of him. I think it was wrong of Judge V to agree to their agreement. My heart was breaking for her. I could see she really was scared of him. That wasn’t an act
THAT WOMAN WAS FORCED!!! my mother had the same antics and she was abused for 16 years being beat in the head back hands legs and buttock with knives cast iron pans and whatever the man could find all these SIGNS are there… (the “staring at nothing with brief looks up for APPROVAL, the slight quivering and very slow light punctuated CORRECT statements, And Sitting All Scrunched Up Almost In A Fetal Position..(Ready To Absorb A BLOW. She may not be bruised up on her face but i guarantee she has broken ribs and internal injury’s i highly encourage the court to reach out and help this woman.
Why would you continue on with their case. I am not a lawyer but once you heard that the man makes over 4 million a year and the ex is living in fear and is only agreeing with her ex husband because she is afraid why not adjourn their case until an investigation can be done? If there is abuse are you a mandated reporter?
Wow! Vonda B had the authority to ask an judge to step in and assist with this case. The woman was apparently scared of her ex husband, yet when she asked for help, she was ignored and pushed aside. Vonda B only had to call for a recess, take maybe 2 or 3 minutes to reach out to a fellow judge, a public defender and the police station for officers. She, Vonda B, had the power to really give her help, yet refused to do so. Stuff like this makes me wonder why women in the past protested for better protection of domestic violence. Vonda B. totally dropped the ball!
Most seem to think Judge B should have adjourned the proceedings and not awarded the negotiated settlement. As far as I can tell, we don’t know what happened afterward. The other thing we and she wouldn’t have known about was where the kids were. My guess is before Judge B went to chambers the bailiff separated Mary from Jacob and then Judge B began war-dialing an alphabet soup of organizations. If Mary was to be believed; Judge B’s first responsibility would have been to locate and secure the children. If I’m right, it was a masterful piece of judging in a tough situation.
My heart breaks for this woman. You could tell immediately that she was terrified. She was fidgeting and not even looking judge in the eyes. As a domestic abuse survivor, those are some huge red flags please the fear in her voice. The fact that she has proof of him laundering money and that wasn’t even taken is a bit appalling as it is a HUGE financial risk and illegal hence BSA/AML (bank secrecy act/anti money laundering) policies that all banks have to follow. Although if she shows that proof to law enforcement more than likely an investigation would be conducted and he’d be behind bars which would give her some safety until he’s released.
Don’t reduce the child support, sounds like he threatened her to ask for a reduction in child support or else he will do something to her! She’s asking for a reduction in child support under duress! If he makes several millions per year, he can afford it, she is the ones with all the kid that has the financial burden of supporting all the kids. Some kind of mental anguish.
This is a problem in many developed countries. This court for this, this court for that. All of these courts need to be combined with trained professionals assessing cases- not the use of the adversarial system that favours those with money. Juvenile crime is directly related to domestic and family violence!
This is completely ridiculous. Do you mean to tell me that the Judge could not get someone to help her right then and there? I can’t even understand why she reduced the child support based on the story the wife was forced to tell. He should have been forced to pay what they agreed on in the beginning, a police officer should have been called for her protection, and he should have been detained based on her evidence. This was definitely wrong!
She states at the end that in an actual court case, she would receive protection for speaking out and having the proof. She didn’t speak on adjurning but I think an actual judge would. The woman looked scared from the second she started speaking. At first I thought she just seemed appreciative of her ex and got emotional but I realized quickly that she was in danger. (I understand this is acting) I’m glad in an actual court, she would get help
I have a friend that is experiencing a dead beat kids father syndrome. The father has stopped paying child support for their kids because he heard that his oldest son is in juvenile. His license already suspended for the second time due to non payment and he’s in the arrears $30K and he hasn’t made any current payments since October 2023. Plus he’s self employed. What can the court do to him as of now? What is the next step and what can she expect to happen?
For everyone who doesnt know factual info, this entire show uses ACTORS that represent REAL cases brought to child support court. This woman and man are ACTORS and we should all hope the actual woman in the case is safe, the children are safe, and this was handled in criminal court as well. By law the show cannot give out the names of parties these cases represent. For all we know, the real woman was killed by her ex husband, or was deemed unfit to care for her children.
Actors or not it should have NEVER been granted I mean there are actual people out there that go thru domestic abuse and what should have happened was for the support to stay the same and refer them to family court so that protective orders and everything else could be put through, again actor’s or not this just proves how the legal system is broken!! Unbelievable
What? OMG…. She’s petrified of this creep. The judge should have called the police on this guy. Why did she give him what he wanted? She agreed out of fear. WOW…. I hope this woman is able to get away from him. She’s afraid to do anything so I’ll bet she won’t go to the cops because if she does he’ll kill her. Maybe her family can help her escape. OMG… I’m going to be thinking about her for a long time.
Wow that’s very scary because I seen soon as I started perusal this article the fear on this woman’s face and I took the phone to my old man and I said doesn’t something not seem right here. And not even told him that he was intimidating her and doing stuff behind closed doors to her and then bam. Then this man sitting and threatening her and her children’s lives that’s ridiculous . I sure hope that they did something about this man
How in good conscience can this judge watch the stress this woman is under from this guy and lower his child support. The more I see these cases this judge makes some poor decisions. she was more concerned about getting done so she could go have a drink . For some reason she’s acting like she under stress horrible judge.
Wow I hope the judge answers for this on their own judgement day. This woman needed help and she was just told to eff off and the abusive husband got what he wanted. This woman is in fear of her life and you just get all sassy and act like you’re exhausted from her emotional distress and need a drink? Shame on you.
Why does this lady sound like she’s afraid because she sound like she was panicking she sounds like she was forced to say these things about her husband just so his child support can go down she looks nervous, and afraid and she looks scared, I’m surprised that the judge is not asking her why she sounds like she’s panicking or something is wrong with her
