To claim tax credits, including deductions for child care, you need to provide your daycare provider’s Tax Identification Number (TID). The taxpayer identification number can be filed with H and R Block, online, or with a tax professional. For individuals, the Social Security number (SSN) is required. Childcare businesses are typically required to obtain an Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS, which is used for tax purposes. For Center-based Programs and FCCH Networks, the FEIN is the tax identification number of the provider where the child actually received services.
To find your local 800 number, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or visit the website of the Child Care Licensing Program. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) allows you to create a new tax ID number for a daycare center directly using the Online IRS EIN creation tool. Parents need this information to claim child care expenses they pay on tax returns.
The IRS offers several options for daycare providers to apply for and receive a TID. If the care provider is not-for-profit, you don’t need the taxpayer identification number. Instead, write “exempt” when the form asks for the number.
To register in the Local Registration Kit (LRK), apply for permission to open your childcare facility with your local municipality 10 weeks before you intend to start. KVK will pass on your details to the Tax Administration, who will issue you with a VAT identification number for correspondence and invoices.
To get the correct name, address, and taxpayer identification number (TIN) from each person or organization that provides care for your child, contact the childcare provider and use the W-10 (Request for Taxpayer Information and Identification Number) form.
