How To Locate A Child Care Provider Via Phone?

Parents often need their Employer Identification Number (EIN) for tax benefits, such as child care credits, which are calculated by the IRS based on the amount of monthly payment. To claim these tax credits, parents must provide their daycare provider’s Tax Identification Number (EIN). The Child Care Licensing Program oversees licensed Child Care Centers and Family Child Care Homes through 21 Regional Offices throughout California. To find your local 800 number, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or visit the state’s Department of Public Health website.

CCRC’s Online Child Care Search provides parents with free, personalized referrals to licensed child care providers in Northern Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. To claim the child and dependent care credit, you must identify the care provider on Form 2441, which includes their name, address, and taxpayer identification. To file a complaint regarding a state licensed community care facility, child care facility, or home care organization, visit the Complaint Hotline Page.

To request the EIN number, contact the childcare provider and ask for the company’s tax-identification number. If the provider does not provide it, you may need to speak with the owner or proprietor. You can also send a Request for Taxpayer Information and Identification Number (W-10) to the childcare provider.

The Enrollment Number is found on all Legally-Exempt Child Care Provider correspondence received from the Enrollment agency. There are numerous resources available to help you find and choose a child care provider.
