How To Dress Differently For A Sword And Shield Tournament?

Pokémon Sword and Shield allows players to customize their uniforms for gym battles and other events. They can wear or buy “types” that don’t have a designated leader from vendors in each Gym, but they can only be worn outside of Gym matches. To change your uniform, go to a clothing store in a town like Hammerlocke or Motostoke and use the closet.

In the Galar Region, challengers in Gym Battles wear uniforms during the battle. Gym Leaders prefer to wear their own clothing during the battle, but individual uniforms exist for each Pokemon type (e.g., Grass-type Uniform). These uniforms can be purchased by the player or obtained after the game comes out.

You can change your uniform after selecting it, either in their entirety while roaming around or by wearing certain pieces of each set. However, you cannot change your uniform at will, as you must visit a clothing shop and head into the changing room to put on one of your new gym uniforms.

Unlocking gym clothes after beating each gym or buying them sets you back some currency. You can also purchase gym clothes for areas you haven’t been to yet. Once you have your outfit, you can’t just change at will. You must visit a clothing shop and interact with them to change your uniform.

It is not possible to change a Pokemon Sword and Shield uniform for gym battles, and the default, white uniform must be worn during Gym. You cannot change the default uniform your character wears during Gym battles or the Pokemon League Championships. This guide explains how to change your uniform in the game Pokemon Sword and Shield.

  • DO NOT FORGET: if you want backpacks and coats for these uniforms (also hats) you can go to the boutiques in both Hammerlock and Whyndon. They have a blue shirt sign, and Hammerlocks is off to the left of the first Pokémon center, while Whyndon’s is off to the left of the square when you go to Rose of Wonderlands
