📹 Fate/Extella Devs Changed Costume For Gilgamesh Due To “Various Reasons”
A costume for Gilgamesh in Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star was changed during development, possibly due to being similar to …
from what i heard, most complaints for the costume came from chinese and korean fans. obviously japan did a lot of horrible shit to those countries back in WWII and koreans view japan as verly unapolegitc for the war crimes committed to them. plus gilgamesh’s character has the whole mass genocide thing so it would come off as nazism. not saying i agree with censorship, but due to the political history b/w these countries and how sizable those markets are for the Fate franchise, i can see that the creators would want to play it safe.
First, thanks for this website Censored Gaming, and especially that you look at cases from all over the world and don’t just focus on the US. Secondly I have a question. Will you ever do a article on games that were pulled/cancelled because of “moral outrage” or similar like with Dead or Alive? I mean, it’s hardly the only title it’s happened to. Asking since the reason I started importing games is what happened with Rule of Rose back in 2006. Because some Italian politician made a shit storm about some false claim about violence to children, it ended up not getting released in the majority of Europe. Supposedly it was just meant to affect the UK, but it was pretty much impossible to find anywhere else too. Honestly, the whole clusterfuck is pretty interesting in a frightening way considering Germany-style censorship could have been a EU wide thing if the motion about the game had passed (because yes, it went all the way to the EU parlament!).
This isn’t new. In fact this happened months ago, right after the DLC’s anouncment(less than a week). But I’m realy concerned with the DLC costumes in general since I want them and I don’t know If I can even get them in any shape or form. Tough Marvelous said that they are trying bringing them over and they wanna bring them over so I just hope for now.
