Does Tophat Display Homework Answers Past The Due Date?

Top Hat is a platform that allows students to submit assignments in either Homework or Review modes. Students can submit their answers through a web browser or mobile app, and their responses will be visible in the Graded Submissions section of the Gradebook. However, their responses and correct answers will be hidden until the Homework due date has passed for all students in the course.

When Top Hat content is assigned to students with a due date, students will see the exact date and time that the item is due in the content tree. Due dates reflect the time zone of the student’s location. After the due date, items will either disappear from students’ view or transition to a Review state. When a reading or assignment transitions from Homework mode to Review mode, students’ last submitted responses before the Homework due date will be recorded in the Gradebook.

Top Hat can be assigned in either Homework or Review modes, and submissions can be made on either a web browser or via the mobile app. Instructors may give modified due dates to specific students in the course by giving them an extended deadline for questions assigned as Homework. This due date will be displayed underneath pages content items scheduled for homework in their list of course content.

Students answer assessment questions and complete assessments on their own devices while teachers monitor activity and get reports of irregular behavior. They can also answer questions in the review status, which allows teachers to monitor activity and get reports of irregular behavior.

If you set a due date, you will be provided with the additional option of After due date. If you have selected to assign the content as homework, you can choose what level of access you would like your students to have once the due date passes.

Homework assignments have a deadline and grades will flow into your gradebook by default. Once a student’s submitted file has been graded, clicking Submit will make the grade (and comments) visible to that student if the Homework due date has passed. Enabling basic answer feedback will automatically appear, allowing students to submit their answers in the Top Hat window.
