Does The Ymca Offer Child Care On A Need-Basis?

The YMCA offers a variety of child care programs for children aged six weeks to 10 years, including Kids Stuff, which provides age-appropriate activities in a safe environment. These programs are free for families and one adult family members. The Central YMCA Children’s Center places infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a caring and supportive environment. The YMCA is committed to offering families support through various financial aid options to help ease the burden of childcare expenses.

The Senior Program Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of YMCA Child Care sites and work closely with the Executive Youth Development team. The organization focuses on nurturing child development comprehensively by building foundational skills, fostering healthy relationships, and boosting self-reliance in a safe environment. The YMCA’s Childcare Resource Service has been helping parents find trusted day-cares and licensed child care providers throughout San Diego County for over 40 years.

The YMCA’s early learning, child care, and out-of-school time child care services are always focused on meeting social, emotional, and academic needs. They help young people grow into healthy, thriving adults by offering child care programs for all ages and abilities.

Some locations offer flexible child care options, such as part-time, AM only, PM only, and drop-in care, subject to availability. The Licensed Preschool program offers small group ratios of 1:8, with a maximum group size of 24. Each child in the Child Care program receives a free YMCA membership, transforming them into a “Y kid”.
