Does Sliced Skin Lead To Issues During Parenting?

PFFR, or Premature Forcible Foreskin Retraction, is an injury that occurs in infants and children, with an estimated annual incidence of over 100,000 cases in the U.S. It is important to know how to care for an uncircumcised penis and to watch for symptoms such as a bad smell. Some boys can retract their foreskin as early as age 5, but some may not until their teenage years. Retraction should not be forced, as it can be painful and cut off normal blood flow to the penis head. If your child has this problem, it’s important to see a doctor right away.

Care for your skin can greatly affect your appearance, and dermatologists often recommend everyday care. The decision to circumcise a baby boy may depend on factors such as parents’ preference, religion, and birthplace. In an uncircumcised boy, the smegma, a collection of dead cells, oils, and fluids, can cause foul odor or skin irritation. Infections can also occur if there is a small cut or sore on the foreskin, as a break in the skin can allow microbes to enter. Balanitis is an inflammation of the foreskin, which usually causes no problems.

Foreskin retraction should not be forced, as it may cause pain, bleeding, scarring, and adhesions. Penile adhesions are a common complication that occurs in both circumcised and uncircumcised children. Any trauma or injury in the genital area, including accidental force applied to the foreskin, can lead to paraphimosis. Circumcision can prevent foreskin infections and phimosis, a condition where the foreskin cannot be pulled back.

📹 Circumcision – Pros and Cons

To circumcise or not to circumcise, that is the question in today’s new video. Find out the pros and cons of one of the oldest …

What are the long term effects of not being circumcised?

It has been established that uncircumcised males are at an elevated risk of developing penile cancer due to the presence of smegma and phimosis, which are recognized as risk factors for the disease. The maintenance of optimal penile hygiene can serve to mitigate this risk. Although circumcision does not significantly impact sexual health, regular washing under the foreskin is crucial for uncut men to reduce infection and other conditions.

What happens if you never pull back foreskin?

Paraphimosis is a medical emergency characterized by a tightening of the foreskin to the point of immobility, resulting in edema and discomfort at the affected site. Immediate intervention is imperative to avert significant complications, such as restricted blood flow. In some cases, the doctor may be able to return the foreskin to its original position. However, in more severe cases, surgery may be recommended as a means of removal, such as circumcision.

What problems can being uncircumcised cause?

Uncircumcised penises are susceptible to infection and conditions like balanitis, phimosis, and paraphimosis, as well as sexually transmitted infections like HIV, HPV, and genital herpes. Circumcision is generally safe, but there may be post-op complications. However, it is generally not associated with loss of sensitivity, sexual function, or fertility. The decision to circumcise is an individual one, with no “right” or “wrong” choice.

Is it better to not be circumcised or not?

Circumcised men are less likely to contract sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, and urinary tract infections (UTIs) in the first year of life. However, UTIs are rare. Parents may want to have a say in the decision or follow their doctor’s recommendation. There are two options for a son’s penis: keep it natural or have it circumcised. Understanding these choices helps parents communicate with their doctor about their son’s health.

Does foreskin cause problems?

The practice of circumcision is a common surgical procedure that has been demonstrated to reduce the risk of developing a number of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including urinary tract infections (UTIs) and infections of the foreskin, as well as penile cancer. The most common complications are inflammation, bleeding, and infection, which can be readily addressed with appropriate treatment. Furthermore, circumcision has been demonstrated to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections.

What are the disadvantages of sleeping with an uncircumcised man?

What are the disadvantages of sleeping with an uncircumcised man?

Circumcision has numerous benefits for men and women, including increased pleasure, fewer accidents, longer intimacy, and lower risk of infections. Men with a circumcised penis experience heightened sexual pleasure and less risk of injuries, trauma, and torn frenulum during intercourse. The penis is less sensitive after the foreskin is removed, allowing for longer intimacy without ejaculation.

Uncircumcised men are at a higher risk of infections, such as Bacterial Vaginosis, yeast infections, UTIs, and STDs. However, circumcision lowers the risk of STDs and STIs, such as HIV, syphilis, HPV, genital herpes, and gonorrhea. Cleanliness is also easier for men with a circumcised penis, as it is easier to keep it fresh and clean.

However, some men may struggle with sexual performance due to the mess it can make. Getting a circumcised penis can provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for both partners.

In conclusion, circumcision offers numerous benefits for both men and women, including increased pleasure, fewer accidents, longer intimacy, and lower risk of infections.

What happens if a child is not circumcised?

The evidence suggests that circumcised children have a slightly lower risk of developing urinary tract infections (UTIs) compared to uncircumcised children. However, the risk of a child developing a UTI in the first year is also low regardless of circumcision status. Furthermore, the procedure has been demonstrated to reduce the risk of penile cancer.

Can circumcision cause problems later in life?

Can circumcision cause problems later in life?

Circumcision-related short- and long-term complications can occur during the postoperative period, including bleeding, wound site infection, secondary phimosis, urethral or glandular injuries, urinary retention, and meatal stenosis. In the long term, complications include excess or inadequate excision of the foreskin, concealed penis, adhesions between penile skin and glans penis, penile deformities, secondary hypospadias, bad wound healing, granuloma, skin bridges, and psychological disorders developed after untimely circumcisions or feasts.

Post-circumcision bleeding is the most prevalent complication, often caused by hasty manipulation and inability to evaluate the patient before the circumcision. Bleeding and penile hematoma often require reoperation, and local anesthesia exposes the child and family to the adverse effects of psychological trauma. Short- and long-term complications in the study include excess excision of the foreskin, amputation of the glans penis, necrosis of the penile skin, and excision of the preputium together with penile skin.

What happens if you don’t remove foreskin?

Foreskin-specific conditions like phimosis, paraphimosis, balanitis, and infections can lead to penile cancer. Healthcare providers in hospitals prepare babies for circumcision by numbing their penis with anesthetic or acetaminophen for pain relief. For older children and adults, a provider reviews their health history and performs a physical examination. It is important to inform the provider about any prescription or over-the-counter medications, including herbal supplements, which can increase the risk of bleeding during a circumcision. Additionally, it is important to inform the provider about any known allergies. This helps to ensure a safe and comfortable procedure for both the baby and the mother.

Is it better for a guy to be uncircumcised?

Three randomized clinical trials have demonstrated that adult male circumcision can reduce the risk of HIV infection by 50-60% over time, and also lower the risk of certain herpes and HPV. Furthermore, women with circumcised partners are less likely to contract sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including chlamydia, syphilis, and herpes, and may have a reduced risk of developing cervical cancer.

Do uncircumcised men regret not being circumcised?

Do uncircumcised men regret not being circumcised?

The practice of newborn circumcision has been linked to physical and emotional harm, but there is limited research on satisfaction and regret based on circumcision status. A study was conducted on men aged 17 years using Amazon’s “Mechanical Turk” survey marketplace. The results showed no significant difference between circumcised and uncircumcised men in terms of regret, desire to change their status, and sexual satisfaction. Uncircumcised men believed their status increased sexual pleasure, while circumcised men felt more comfortable with sexual partners and others seeing their penis.

There was no difference in medical complications between the groups. The study provides objective data to help parents make informed decisions about circumcision, and is the first to examine attitudes towards circumcision status in men circumcised before adulthood in the USA. The findings should be incorporated into shared decision-making between parents and healthcare providers and considered when developing professional guidance regarding circumcision in newborn males.

📹 What foreskin problems are common in children?

Foreskin problems can be fairly common in male babies and children, including the inability to retract the foreskin (phimosis).

  • I got circumcised when I was 12, they didn’t do it when I was born because I was pre-mature and had thin blood and was scared I could bleed to death or cause an infection. I’ve also had kidney stones as an adult. I to this day would much rather have kidney stones again rather than being re-circumcised.

  • The majority of the so called “pros” here could be eliminated with simply cleaning. Women have to clean theirs strange things grow in the folds. Dismembering someone else’s body without their consent cannot be justified based off these so called pros. Genital mutilation is gross and most do it nowadays because they’re scared women will judge their boys negatively if they aren’t circumcised.

  • Some of the “pros” listed have much less invasive alternatives. As a parent it is your responsibility to teach your child good hygiene. If said child is an infant and incapable of self-care, the onus falls on you, the parent, to ensure they are properly bathed. As for STIs, condoms are significantly more effective at combating them. With the exception of medical emergencies and consenting adults, absolutely none of these instances are grounds for genital mutilation.

  • I was cut when I was about 7 years old, allegedly an infection, they must have done it with a knife and fork, and took far too much off and left me scarred like frankenstein’s monster, and the skin gets stretched when aroused to the point it aches a lot, resulting in it being rather displeasurable being turned on…

  • It absolutely reduces sensitivity. A callous forms on the gland from all rubbing of clothes. I was circumcised as an adult so I remember how much more sensitive I was. If there’s is no medical reason, let it be. It’s there for a reason, & the number one is probably protection from sunburn!! Once upon a time we dudnt wear clothes incidentally, it is that very same callous that reduces the risk of venereal disease transmissiblity

  • It’s no harder to clean than anywhere else. The baby does feel it. As someone that knows nurses. They told the high screams that come out when it happens. And it is way more sensitive. Its suppose to almost hurt just brushing it across something when soft. But years of having it exposed, it rubs all over the leg and clothes. Numbing the nerves to make it more resilient. Reducing the feeling when u go to use it. The US started doing it not cause of any health reasons. It was the church saying it will keep your sinning children from doing the devil handshake with themselves. Look it up.

  • My parents choise not to circumcise me. They told me that my body is my own to do with. And if that was soemthing I wanted later in life. Then that was my decision. But iv never had any reason to get circumcised. And I will only get circumcised if there is a legitimate health reason in my life. Most of the problems that people have are due to improper hygiene practices.

  • Bro I was embarrassed growing up due to the fact that I came from a different country and it was normal to be uncircumcised until I came to the USA where most of my friends would tell me they were circumcised and girls found it disgusting. I’m 25 now, I don’t care anymore… and girls never had an issue with me.

  • Why is this even still a conversation that is actually going on? I am against it. I’m a female, and if I ever had a son I wouldn’t do this to him. My brother in law got so angry at me for saying that, he said “IT LOOKS GROSS TO KEEP IT.” Excuse me? Its natural. Sorry you hate your natural body and you want to inflict pain onto someone else because you’re so uncomfortable with yourself but thats not my problem and it shouldn’t be your son’s problem either.

  • I just found this website and after perusal a few interesting articles have found myself disappointed after this one. The implied “Doctors think its better” near the end didn’t sit well and the whole thing seems like a substantially biased take. I’m already questioning the veracity of anything produced here.

  • Genital mutilation should be illegal. Why is someone else allowed to decide to enforce a permenent decision and scar on my body without my consent or choice? I didn’t approve of losing tonnes of nerve endings. I didn’t even get to decide, and all the claims supporting cutting are just wrong and outdated.

  • He didn’t give the details about the high profile botched case that resulted in the gender reassignment. The boy committed suicide. I belive he also had a twin brother and his parents were also deeply affected by what happened. It’s a horrifying story. And unless I’m much mistaken, the family never recovered with the affected boys brother blaming the parents for the what happened to his brother. I wonder why the narrator wouldn’t mention that. I feel like it’s leaving out an important detail.

  • The problem is infantile circumcision. It mutilates newborn babies without giving them a say in it. It should be everyone’s right to decide what permanent alterations are done to their bodies, not their parent’s. Infantile circumcision needs to be completely outlawed, no exceptions, because it is the violation of a babies right to self-determination.

  • Was circumcised when I was around 10, Was done more because she was married to a Muslim at a time and he saw me as his kid, so he wanted it done to my younger brother and me. Told her back then I’ll never forgive her for it, and never truly have. While she kept trying for a while, we’re almost no contact, and only reason I talk to her at all is because of my siblings. For anyone considering, try to think of the long term effects and possible relationship issues you will cause with it. Little to no benefits compared to the issues that it can cause.

  • I seen what my oldest son went through when I got him circumcised and the complications he had. I could not in good conscience put my youngest son through the same thing. I regret ever doing it at all with my oldest. I wish people would take more time to research and not just do it because that’s the way it’s always been

  • regardless of the side you are on,the one group that should not really have a say is women. I mean Ive had girlfriends say that if they had boys they would circumcise without question ONLY because they say that they think uncircumsized penises are disgusting. That was their only reason,. Not due to cleanliness, not for medical reasons, but only because they dont like uncircumsized weiners.

  • One of the biggest arguments in favor of infant male genital mutilation is that if left to do it after he turns 18 years old, he’ll never get it done. That men who are intact don’t want to be circumcised should make parents never authorize circumcision. You already know what he is going to want when he turns 18. He wouldn’t want it done is no reason to do it!

  • Um… To state the obvious, a baby is physically underdeveloped. Circumcision interferes with the growth of the member. Ok, that’s for a medical professional to say. However if the tips of my toes were cut off as a baby, hypothetically. Wouldn’t that interfere with growth and/or function? Also a man’s body is his property. Not the public’s. The intactivists are absolutely correct!

  • I personally prefer to leave it uncut because it’s how it’s meant to be. Obviously it’s much more difficult to clean thoroughly but that’s just life. If you want to get your kid or yourself circumcised I won’t waste my time or energy arguing with you. It’s not my body and it’s not my business either. So I do have an opinion on it but I also respect other’s opinions on it and their right to privacy

  • I was circumcised as a child, now in my mid thirties I still have resentment and anger because of it. I feel like it was a major injustice that still hasn’t been resolved. I don’t know how I’ll ever be at peace with myself knowing that a healthy part of my body was intentionally cut off without my consent, and nobody seems to be held accountable for it. Nobody can convince me that we live in a world where law, order and justice exist when circumcision continues to take place without accountability. I don’t feel respected or that I have basic human rights, because this happened to me. I don’t know if I’ll ever feel normal psychologically, as I still feel traumatized from circumcision.

  • Infographics has lost a lot of respect from me. They did not even compare the different statistics, been countries rates of the diseases that this procedure is meant to help protect you from. Not all get pain relief. I had a tear giving birth and trust me when I say it really hurt going for a wee after and when it was fixed

  • In my country in the 2010s there was a campaign to get all the school boys circumcised its slogan was “rola katiba” which when translated is “take off the hat” and many of us including myself got circumcised due to peer pressure and it wasnt of choice for some as it was just trying to be cool and be part of the boys/talk

  • Personally I have not been circumcised as a baby and although my mother gave me the choice to recently I’ve came here for research. Although there are a lot of pros to circumcision it scares me to see a lot of people suffering and thinking it is a horrible practice. Though I chose not to be circumcised I believe it should be a choice later in life like 15-20 years old. Otherwise having it done as a baby just won’t sit right with the majority of us and it does stand with increased risks compared to getting it done later in life.

  • Circumcision, along with sterilisation, is free in my country for men. Also very common when you are 13 for religious reasons, though there it is often done by less than professional people, and there are a good number of deaths every year from this, even though the health services offers a free full kit for the entire process. Yes there are a few every year who also lose it all, and end up with nothing.

  • When I was 8 days old, – mom and dad took me back to another doctor. The staff layed me on a table, strapped both my arms while two nurses held me down. A doctor with plastic gloves on and holding a blunt ice-pick with a wire comin-out-if-it, – starts examining and playin with my wee-wee. I couldn’t say what was more horrifying, the pain or my screaming. I wish they’d have waited, waited till I could choose for myself. A medival man with a white coat man.

  • I see it purely from the medical perspective. I had a phimosis at around 5 years and I just knew the pain it caused me. After they removed more or less the whole skin, I had no pain anymore. I have no pain or complications today, so I am fine with medical reasons, but I question to do it if there is no medical reason directly.

  • I’m not. My son wasn’t I until it was constricting no matter how well we were taking care of it. He is now he had it done when he was 3. It was very painful for him he said it doesn’t feel the same anymore. I’ve read that some people that do it later compare it to losing a sense. I’ve talked with friends. I think I do feel more when having relations. They say their tips are similar to your lips. Mine is sensitive not painful but I can feel more I feel like. If I could I wish my son never had to get cut

  • I like your website in general. However as an uncircumcised male i think you understated it’s benefits. Hygiene is not hard to manage and I have worked in situations that require it as a religious necessity at ages beyond 11 or 12. I have seen those procedures and find them horrendous. It isn’t something that should be accept any more than female circumcision ( another atrocious practice). I have no religious preference. But I find the idea that a mutilation of what we were born ( or created) as to be a very inappropriate violation of human rights. Regardless of the religious or cultural norms it is a physical assault on a human being that has little or no choice. Go ahead and vilify me.

  • My own personal opinion it shouldn’t be up to the parents or any religion for that matter (Peoples religous views can change as they get older). It should be up to the person when they come of age to be able to consent to it. It’s terrible to take the choice away from anyone especially for a procedure that has no real health benefits.

  • No mention of how circumcision is done during puberty in almost all boys the Philippines as some form of coming of age tradition, sometimes it’s even done without anesthesia by a shaman? Over there, boys who are uncircumcised are ridiculed and even bullied by their peers if they’re found out. Some even have weird beliefs that circumcision makes them grow taller.

  • I got circumcision last year, I legit felt Every single cut and Everytime they put the needle to sew it, because the thing they inject to remove the pain didn’t affect me, they literally pinched me, asked me “Do you feel it”, I said no and they said “the effect will start soon don’t worry” and then proceeds to start the operation, I was so dizzy and I almost fainted due to the pain, and it took me 1 month to recover while my cousins took 2 weeks 😭

  • The fact that almost every single comment here is either people coming out about their negative experiences with this barbarism, or people just not condoning it truly makes me smile. The only people who are supporting this are individuals who possess the sophistication of a cactus. ignore the replies, all but the first 3 are botted

  • So what I understood from this is that really the only reason circumcision is even around is for religious and traditional purposes which I find atrocious bc that’s an excuse for everything these days the cleanliness I can understand but if you teach your kid to keep themselves clean it shouldn’t be a problem

  • I don’t have a strong opinion, but as a standard rule, I would probably want to not have any choices taken away from me as a baby. Personally, I am a little offended that I got baptized as a baby. It doesn’t matter that much because I am an atheist, but if I had converted to any other religion, I would have been angry. From that standpoint, it makes sense to wait for a baby to grow up, so they can make the decision themselves. Also, I don’t think I have to state just how much the average man loves their p** so something that could change the look might be a big deal.

  • i think it should be up to the Person/Child not the Parents, Circumcision is like a permanent tattoo in my eyes/book so it should be up to the child/person not the parents!. And before someone stars a war with me in the comments i am NOT against Circumcision nor i am FOR Circumcision, i am Neutral meaning 50%/50%!.

  • I was not asked at birth. It irks me to this day. I have what’s called an abridged adhesion, which mean the head is fused with the shaft. The equipment works, but I will have to go under if I want it to be repaired to normal. Do not circumcise your children. All weenies look weird. Let them choose. Bro just don’t do it!

  • I personally have had 3 friends have the procedure done as adults. Two of them as 18 and 19 year olds, the other when we were sophomores in college. Secondly, my wife has 2 friends whose husbands are uncircumcised. The wives told her that they have gotten yeast infections since they married. I think it’s beyond worth it to get circumcised. Just do it, even though it hurts you to do it to your child. They don’t feel it. And they’ll want to be circumcised later in life, especially once sexually active.

  • Some of the boys who lost this inverse lottery are made less likely thereby to complain about the loss. That might be the whole point. If we break his spirit, we can use him. If the breaking fails, we trust him. How could anyone be any less than happy that this is the way? Unless, of course, your mother is a Roman Catholic, and doesn’t understand that Jewish doctors are as problematic for the children as the priests.

  • A doctor has been doing circumcisions for 30 years, and he’s collected all the fskins. He has them all in a box, and decides he should do something with them. He takes them to a taxidermist and asks him to make something out of them. A few weeks later, he returns to the taxidermist, who pulls out a small box and sets it on the counter. The doctor opens the box and there is a wallet. “I brought you all those fskins, and all you could make is a wallet?” “That’s not just any wallet,” says the taxidermist. “Rub it and it turns into a suitcase!” 😀

  • The inability to retract the foreskin is a normal state in a healthy baby or boy, not a problem and suggesting it is, is pathologising the foreskin, a very common cultural practice in defense of male genital mutilation. There is no evidence for the claim that the fact that a child is not able to retract the foreskin can cause itchiness, soreness, redness of the tip of the foreskin. Attempts to do so too early in life by boys unnecessarily caused to worry by medical practitioners like Mr Giuiliani, on the other hand certainly can cause it! Unscrupulous doctors can then earn money by convincing parents to have their sons circumcised. Incidently there doesn’t appear to be any ailment going by the name arcola balanitis. Balantitis is inflamation of the glans which is called balanoposthitis if it has spread to the forskin. Circumcision is a last resort and even then a small slit is usually adviced rather than complete excision of the foreskin.

  • An honest suggestion to all who are above 15 and wants to be circumcised but cant be due to tight skin(phimosis) .Don’t ever try to circumcised by your own because it will create a hell problem . I did this about 2-3 back and my skin got swollen and i today i surgery to lessen the swelling and trust me nothing can be more painful than this…SO DONT EVER TRY TO IT BY YOURSELF ..CONSULT A DOCTOR UNLESS IT WILL GREATLY EFFECT YOUR SEXUAL LIFE I SWEAR….TODAY I HAD THIS TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE😭

  • I just realised I have frenuloplasty and not only that I have the skin grown or stuck to the bottom of the glans I can’t find anything about it I can’t take the skin from the bottom of the glans I just feel really bad I think I have something wrong with my penis I just want to die I’m to scared to tell that to my parents to ask the doctor about it can anyone help me pls?

  • My son has a buried penis and also a tight foreskin (2 years old) I’m so nervous he has surgery in two days. They will do a slight circumcision and use two stitches to expose his penis more. Yet I’m not sure if this is the right decision. I’m worried that his foreskin is so tight now it will create issues long term. Sometimes the tip gets red so we have to be diligent to keep the area clean
