  • Anybody who takes vitamin D3 and that should be everybody at this point, has to take it with Magnesium because D3 depletes Magnesium in your body very quickly. Once you are depleted it’s very hard to regain it takes a long time and may cause nasty side effects. D3 co-factors are K2, Magnesium, Boron, Zinc and are needed for the D3 to be effective.

  • Dr Legrand, have you ever been exposed to a condition called PPPD? Its a condition that causes brain /vestibular miscomunication and leaves one with feelings of movement/dizziness and having ones equilibrium off as well as a ton of other disturbances. My neurologist suggested Mag.I am still in the research phase of which type and dose. Have you ever seen apatient with this condition? Thanks Barb

  • I take magnesium glycinate 2000 mg per day but I have severe psoriasis and pair that with d3 cream and k2 cream. It’s changed the game for me. If you are taking high doses of vitamin d and k2 it is so important to take more magnesium. I worry about the amount of magnesium. But I have to say I need it to sleep.

  • Hi Dr. LeGrand! Been loving your articles! Can you or one of your co-workers help someone who’s dealing with major depressive disorder without ADD/ADHD? I’m also dealing with insomnia on a constant basis. Tried numerous supplements and meds. I do have mild-moderate sleep apnea so that doesn’t help. Could I still get a consultation with you or one of your co-workers to see what nutrients I may need to supplement to help my mental health? Thanks in advance!

  • You should preface your blanket statements about your experience with each form of magnesium as it didn’t work with your metabolism. My 5 years of experience with Mag Citrate Calm. Is very positive. Lowered my BPressure, gives me mental clarity-I am more methodical in my thinking abilities, very good energy (59 YO), No arthritis at all, good mood, great sleep. Everyone is different so everyone needs to experiment. Its not a one fits all scenario by any means. On the flip side I tried magTheonate and it did not have any noticeable effect on me. I went back to my Calm.

  • Iam currently on day 2 of using magnesium bid glycinate 200 mg. Brand by CanPre I tired only taking 1 last night got a sence of relaxing and calmness but couldn’t fall asleep so tonight I took 2 pills 400mg same thing calm and relax but Iam still up Iam trying to figure out if I need 3rd pill at 600mg tonight to try help me sleep I was wondering if it took some time to see results and have good sleeps and I was wondering how much you had to take a night to have a good night sleep and what routine you had to do to make sure you got that good night sleep before bed and how long it took for it to kick in I can’t wait to beable to sleep better this is been hard Sherri

  • Everything sad about magnesium citrate is wrong the claim that it’s not absorbed is wrong magnesium bound to citrate increases bioavailability it doesn’t decrease it this is a misunderstanding of how it increases bowel movement it does this by drawing water into the gut it has nothing to do with “the body not knowing what to do with it” magnesium is an essential mineral the body knows exactly what to do with it
