Do People Lose Interest In Being Creative?

Recognizing that interests are malleable and can be developed can make us more resilient, open, and creative. Our brains are constantly putting out fires, but they are dying with the way our world runs. To make creativity a priority, we need to focus on curiosity, observation keenness, and passion for innovation. Passion predicts creativity and innovation at work beyond the overall experience of positive emotions.

A recent study published in the Journal of Neuroscience has identified the part of the brain activated during motivated activities, the ventral striatum. Nine motives were identified consistently relevant in the context of everyday creativity, with intrinsic motives being particularly driven. Research shows that focussing for no more than 20 minutes at a time can help provide a good framework for productivity.

Creative people are “change-makers” who distract people, make them see “differently”, and unearth alternatives. It is important to think of it as a day job and find a new creative outlet to do the things you want to do. The problem for many artists is not a lack of passion but having too much without the sense of direction or dedication needed to let it take root.

Your 9-5 doesn’t have to be your creative passion for you to be a creative person. In this article, we explore practical tips and strategies for rediscovering your passion and reigniting your creativity. It can lead to procrastination, self-doubt, and even feelings of dread when it comes to creating. Burnout or overwhelm can cause creativity to suffer, and it is crucial to prioritize this important part of our lives.

Are we losing creativity?

A researcher at the University of William and Mary discovered a decline in creativity scores beginning in 1990, which has been described as a “creativity crisis” by Michael Easter in a Medium article.

Are humans losing creativity?

Scientific studies suggest that creativity is declining, with a decline in Torrance Test scores since the 1950s. A researcher at the University of William and Mary found that creativity scores began to drop in 1990, leading to a “creativity crisis”. This decline in scores on standard tests of creativity has been ongoing for decades, raising questions about whether we are truly lacking in creativity.

Does passion ever go away?

Passionate love is a natural and sustainable emotion that can eventually dissipate and become more manageable over time. However, defining love in psychological terms is risky as it is difficult to capture the day-to-day variations experienced by individuals when highs and lows are present. Carnegie Mellon’s Saurabh Bhargava suggests that despite its importance for relationships, physical and mental health, and longevity, empirical evidence on love is limited.

Researchers may be afraid to tackle the complexities of measurement, and questionnaire measures may not capture the full range of feelings towards a romantic partner. While love may be constant, its manifestation is not always consistent. Therefore, it is crucial to understand and measure the variations of passionate love to gain a better understanding of its impact on individuals and their relationships.

Are people losing creativity?

A year-on-year analysis of The Torrance Test of Creative Thinking has revealed a decline in creativity in young Americans. The test, which measures creativity in children, has been widely used since the 1960s. A study by Kyung-Hee Kim at the University of William and Mary found a consistent decline in creativity since 1990. Michael Easter, a journalism professor at the University of Nevada, also noted that creativity is a greater predictor of personal outcome than IQ tests.

Why don’t I feel creative anymore?

Creative work can be challenging when mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and burnout block the ability to produce creative work. To produce creative work, one needs to take their mind to a certain place, generate numerous ideas, and explore new pathways with an open mind. Confidence, clarity, and the ability to refine and refine on an almost subconscious level are essential for creative work.

However, when the mind is stuck in its own trap of emptiness and negativity, such as during the pandemic, it can be stifling and difficult to achieve. The mind becomes dark, empty, and distracted, making it difficult to think and create. This can lead to thoughts being swallowed up, rejected, and left crumpled and unusable.

To overcome this, one must have the sense of self and mental stamina to be wrong without letting it bulldoze their self worth. During the pandemic, the mind becomes dark, empty, and distracted, making it difficult to produce creative work.

Is creative thinking decreasing?

Is creative thinking decreasing?

Kyung Hee Kim, a professor of creativity and innovation at The College of William and Mary, has found that creativity and intelligence are only weakly correlated. IQ scores have been rising throughout the last century, but since 1990, creativity scores have dropped, with the most significant drop being for children in kindergarten through third grade. This suggests that academic work has been pushed into early grades, but this is not the case. Children in early grades enjoy learning “real stuff” about the world, and there is not much of this in schools.

The issue with creativity in education is that teachers and parents often focus on novel, wacky ideas, which are not enough. Researchers examine creativity, focusing on the usefulness and worthiness of the new tool, idea, or artwork.

Why is all my creativity gone?

Creativity can be lost due to various reasons, such as lack of space, prioritization, or workload. However, it can add richness and make life more fulfilling. In business, losing creativity can lead to a lackluster and dry environment, affecting the output. To stay connected to creativity, it’s essential to recognize its value, prioritize it, and give it time and energy. Five ways to get creative back include:

  1. Exercise regularly
  2. Practice mindfulness and meditation
  3. Connect with nature and connect with others
  4. Engage in physical activity regularly.

Do people lose passion?

Recent studies suggest that some people naturally apply “cultivation strategies” to reignite their passion and motivation. Patricia Chen, a psychology professor at the University of Texas at Austin, conducted a study on the influence of two different mindsets about passion: “fit theorists” and those who don’t. These strategies can help individuals regain their passion and motivation, even if it means changing careers.

Will we ever run out of creativity?

People often believe that creativity is running out due to the familiarity of songs and movies with similar plots. However, this doesn’t mean that ideas are impossible, as some works are unispired and derivative. People once believed that all pop songs would have been written with three chords, but this is not the case. Similarly, poetry and novels won’t run out. The question remains: where does originality come from and how do we draw on past ideas in fresh ways? One reason is that it would be a strange anomoly in human history, where ideas ran out after millennia of creativity. It seems more likely that people are misjudging the situation.

Will AI replace creativity?

Will AI replace creativity?

Creativity and imagination are essential human traits that enable students to generate new ideas, see the world from different perspectives, and express themselves uniquely. AI can mimic patterns but cannot replicate the spontaneous and intuitive nature of human creativity. EIW aims to protect the creative mind by fostering an environment where students can develop their critical thinking and creative skills without AI interference. The curriculum is designed to challenge students, encourage deep thinking, and inspire creativity.

Educators play a pivotal role in nurturing these traits, providing personalized feedback, understanding individual needs, and adapting teaching methods. At EIW, experienced educators guide students through their learning journeys, offering insights and encouragement that AI cannot match.

  • When BeBe recalled an encounter with his father at 15, that was a ring the bell moment. We as people (especially Christians) want to wait for other people’s affirmation. When his father swung him around in the barber’s chair and told him that he had everything in him already and to stop waiting on someone else. I felt that in “my shi na na”. Thank you for another awesome episode. Flat out!

  • I love the words spoken by BeBe Winans. He loves himself unapologetically. He knows who he is in Christ. Although he never those words directly, he projects a godly lifestyle that glorifies his Father which is in Heaven. I am encouraged. I will listen to this particular podcast again and again. Thank you to LOVE YOU MORE ❤.

  • 49:25 I got to watch this entire interview to hear a download from God at the end (as I sit in front of HEB in Plano, TX with tears streaming) that said (paraphrased) ‘Be authentically yourself so that it repels those people who don’t like you or who will dim your light.’ Always be the authentic you God blessed you, created you to be. Then, WMJr talked about his calves and swung his legs – So, I cracked up and dried up my tears some. Thanks WMJr Bebe, as a divorcee, it’s an honor to learn from you and your Mother how to keep living full, fulfilled and in peace with myself and God.

  • This is AWESOME! I fell in love with this Man BeBe Wynans long long ago -never met him in my life. I fell in love with his sweet Spirit… on stage and or through TV. And Yes, he is still a sexy sexy beautiful black man that GOD has created. I love him waay beyond lust. Sweet Sweet!! YaY GOD! I’m single and I plan to be. I love this sweet taste of peace and love that is surrounding me in GOD’s care. Singleness with GOD is satisfying…It is well with my Soul.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed perusal this interview with Bebe Winans. It was interesting as well as entertaining!! We can find everything we need in God. • Shalom, WAKE THAT MIND UP! Thanks for sharing this conversation with BE BE Winans, I appreciate his transparency, ups and downs and success. I can relate to his music BE BE & CE CE for decades. BE BE’s comment “there is a Banana in every State” is spot on. His focus on health is paramount. BE BE WINANS, thank you.

  • The bible says oray for your enemies too which i have and will. Many dit on the rows talking it would be crazy to think everybody knows you and not experienced in same situations. If yiu see your prayer andwered but not like you thougt it should wakung up to an enemy really out to hurt and harm and yiu exut unjured ohysicalky, nentalky, abd have church hurt manifest in your face and in tour hand with symbolism. Of course any direction like the union was considered fake. Christmas hopehully eill ve 90 degrees again snd i can wrar burhundy tights abd dhiets to ny fanily gstheying abd send out oanara ic photos. But that married name is real and i respect no regrets embedded into contemporary beautiful gates.

  • I was in New Jersey at a article shoot with Whitney Houston knowing nothing about her sex life or family only the entertainment side and her church member a male with no sexual relationship as my temporary roommate. I drive him home to New Jersey having been in any knowledge of LGBT community but it was the unknown starter of false information like a bee give so wide and large by the time I returned back to the university campus profanity like booty in sang is not my version but the destruction people will do to you and swing a bat at your head while standing at the base accepting pitches of dissonance in song as well as a bad hair day like the Glenn I know who had bad perm my mother’s hair fell out when she started going looking at his work in my head not the prominent gay owner of the shop born in same day as me so I would go to all the parties once school brought people into life you also keep and get sick from their umbrella of coverage by appearance. When you love yourself you will know how much to accept from another . You either accept them for who they really are in a room of two or you make a change without blaming those around the other person of influence they choose to cut off you at knees and result to looking at a mounted screen I did in elementary school with a guy invited to church of warehouse with the preacher in New York I thought fake so accustomed to in person pulpit Bible teaching. People hear only as much as help them and their life if it abates walking a line that’s not popular to God but important to society.

  • My teammate had a green nova and not the reason I chose to do my physics project on comets but she’s a divine too that told them not to choose me after inviting me so I kept on in my galaxy. At age 16 I was salesperson year junior achievement and 1st chair 1st clarinet city band like in elementary school same but never hidden under a desk when seized items taken from our house. I’m glad I bought in my head from actions and heart I was loved. Now I have remnants of those gifts I kept for myself anyway since given away to me. Amen.

  • Enjoyed this interview so much for so many reasons discussed in this article. I’ve recently returned to some things later in life (just a few years past BeBe’s age) God placed inside me, after having learned so much of what’s been talked about (let’s just call it life). I’m now blessed to be content and at peace enough to move forward — acting on those things God placed inside when He created me. I could go on and on, but I guess I can sum it up by saying, it’s all about accepting God’s unique purpose for me, and no longer be so concerned about the opinions of others. A purpose that will not only bless myself, but others, as well as bring glory unto Himself. Great interview and thank you BeBe for being so transparent and willing to share some of these gems with the rest of us. ♥♥

  • Abba Father I thank you for BeBe Winians, his Brother’s and their nephews whose music 🎵🎶 has spiritually ministered to me . He and his brother have been divorced and I appreciate their transparency of sharing that hurtful decision especially with his congregation. I like his truth response that He’s loving himself right now. I know what the Bible says but not everyone is called to be married. God bless this platform in 2024.

  • Now i gotta actually go read the book. I just get do involved in sutobiogrsphies verbslky nany say is t binding but like libel laws on paper it is written. Troubled water bridges exceot i dont like eyelashes glued to my eyelids like jan crouch started back in ticket to God while at home on other day than vubke dtudy, dunday school, re ivsl, men and women’s day, pastor’s anniversary church anniversary, harvest orograms, easter orograns, christmas programs, BTU for the old folks. I believe in sll God has told me biblicalky including do not hurt the fatherless if he rewards us the unprovoked parts.

  • Marriage is WORK!!!! Both of these men are Christians and neither one of them have said one word about what the WORD says about marriage!!! Plus, BeBe got in trouble for spousal abuse. So it was sad to hear him vilify his ex wife. She may have had issues but it doesn’t excuse his behavior. Please notice that his career did not flourish after the divorce. That is also Biblical when your wife is mistreated your prayers will be hindered. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

  • I know it’s not often said but it makes me sad that a man can fall in love with a woman & be so damaged by what came with that love & the dissolving of it that they will never go down that road again. I strive to be the type of woman who will not only receive a man’s love but to keep it safe & together we’ll have heaven on earth. He’s always going to want to be in this love & laughter & life. Life will be so good that we’ll both ask JESUS to take HIS time, don’t rush coming back. 😁
