The Army Child and Youth Services (CYS) offers affordable childcare programs for Army families, based on family income. The Department of Defense (DOD) is making it easier for eligible military families to have money from their paychecks diverted to an account that can be used to pay for dependent care. CYS recognizes the challenges of Soldiers and their families and provides quality programs for children, youth, and students.
Programs include CYS childcare, parent outreach, youth sports and fitness, parents advisory council, and school liaison officer programs. If you paid someone to care for your child, spouse, or dependent last year, you may qualify for tax credit. To request fee assistance, Army families must have an account and a household profile on MilitaryChildCare.com (MCC.com).
The US Military Day Care is not considered a tax-exempt organization, but you should still claim child care expenses for military child care. The government introduced Tax Free Childcare (TFC) in 2018, replacing the Childcare Voucher Scheme, which closed to new entrants in 2018. Military-run child care programs use a sliding fee scale based on family income to help military families with the cost of child care.
In Hawaii, military programs are tax-exempt as they are Federal Programs, so a tax ID number is required from all child care providers.
