Now THIS is how you make a sequel. Throw the characters into a different genre, and watch it unfold. This looks like it’s going to be better than the last two movies. Very few movies are afraid to switch genres, especially with the third movie in the series. For that reason alone, I hope that this is a great success. It’s great when movies try something different.
I watched this movie yesterday in Paris. For me is the best of the trilogy. Lovely photography. Venice was so beautiful on screen. The best performances were Kenneth and Michell, and also the boy reading EAP. This is about to be my favorite Halloween movie for a while. Congratulations to Kenneth Branagh and to this team of actors 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Glad their back with another after the last disappointed at the box office, but thankfully they know that was a different market place. Kenneth is doing great with these and I hope he continues on with this character. This film is taking an interesting turn into horror and supernatural. Hope it’s good
Just watched it ..amazing plot with the little horror touch took the movie to the next level…I like how the direction and storytelling was straight, no boring, and especially sound effects was top notch..a satisfying, thrilling horror movie to watch . And of course Sir Kenneth Branagh 👏🏽a brilliant piece of acting from him ….
Well, I just saw this movie yesterday. I didn’t have a chance to write down my reviews. So I’m doing it now while I have some time. I was about 30 of us to go and see this movie. And a theater of 60 five, so probably about a 1/2 wanted to go see this movie. My review was I enjoyed it very much as a matter of fact, I have to applaud that they got me. They set the mystery up so well that I could not figure out who the killer was and usually I can figure out who these killers are within 30 minutes of a movie by a stumped me on this one. They threw me for a loop and I didn’t see it so congratulations. I hope there’s another one to follow this movie. My review is I give it a 13 out of 13 skulls and say definitely check this one out.
Looking forward to this. The second film may have not been as good as the first (and suffered form some really bad CG environments), but both films have been visually extraordinary when it comes to camera movement and shot composition (though, again, the first film moreso than the second, but it’s still in there for the second). They do an excellent job of keeping confined environments really interesting and dynamic to look at (it could have easily been restricted to more static cameras and talking heads in different hands). You can tell the DP and cameraman are having fun with these films getting to do some of those shots.
I’m really curious about this one. They said it will still take inspiration from a novel, but almost all elements of that novel, except the spooky atmosphere are gone! It seems the murder will be veeeeerry different! Ariadne is fantastic casting, amazing actress! Hope they’ll keep some of the original characters humor in there too!
Watched it. Hated Tina Fey’s character, with her obnoxious attitude and huge ego. Don’t know why there’s always that character who misses the point and chose to throw snide remark towards the opposite gender instead of paying attention to make them feel smart. I hate that her smugness didn’t get call out until the end. She’s too busy talking about other people’s ego when she’s got a huge one.
I dont know how I feel about an adaptation of Halloween Party with a supernatural twist. Like I’m a huge fan of Suchet’s Poirot portrayal but also I love the liberties that this director and film are taking with the Poirot namesake and novellas. I just hope it’s doesn’t try to be a horror movie – more suspense please š
This was a good movie and I enjoyed it, but the biggest problem I had with it was what they did to the Ariadne Oliver character. In the books, she was funny, quaint, and always a delight to read her interactions with Poirot. In this movie though, they unfortunately made her the complete opposite of what she is in the books, and the sinister undertones in the relationship between them were heartbreaking. If you’re an Ariadne fan of Christie’s books, you will most certainly be highly disappointed.
Revelation 18:20-24 New King James Version 20 “Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you on her!” Finality of Babylon’s Fall 21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and shall not be found anymore. 22 The sound of harpists, musicians, flutists, and trumpeters shall not be heard in you anymore. No craftsman of any craft shall be found in you anymore, and the sound of a millstone shall not be heard in you anymore. 23 The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth.”
After perusal this I want Michelle Yeoh to do a full on supernatural horror movie. I also like the rest of the cast, especially Kelly Reilly and Jamie Dornan. Nice to see Camille Cottin (I watched Call My Agent). And I always forget that Kenneth Branagh is Poirot even though I watched him in other movies, he’s good. 😅
why change the name of the titele of the book this film is based on? its Halloweens party from Christie and I loved it when I first read it cause it was the first time my mom would allow me to read a book where ghost where the talk bout… of course… I won’t spoil anything by saying Agatha was a very sane and reasonable woman
I don’t know whether I like this. It just seems a bit sacrilegious to take the character of Poirot and put him in a supernatural horror film (if that’s what they’re doing). Apparently this is meant to be based on Halloween Party but I’ve read that one and it’s nothing at all like what’s been shown so I really don’t know what route they will go down.
SAW THIS MOVIE TODAY AT THE AMC IN BURBANK. ——— AND ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT IT IS T H I S . . . . IT WAS WAY BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. BRILLIANT CASTING AND ESP. BRILLIANT W R I T I N G …!!!! THE STORY LINE PLOT WAS A COLOSSAL M A S T E R P I E C E …!!! And stands out by a million miles to that piece of garbage called ”The Glass Onion” which was over-hyped and astoundingly disappointing..!!! This is a 10+ ……
What a corny disappointing movie. Mainly because of the actor playing detective. The famous parole . At least you could have found someone who looked closer to the original character with black hair of the same nationality…. What a disappointment to a legacy of great television detectives in the category of Sherlock Holmes,Columbo, Marlo, monk
Interesting! I just Found by chance on amazon kindle this book, nice surprise; Murder on Deck 9 by Lorenzo Pagani: This is a classic murder mystery in the old school “Agatha Christie” sense. The author does a great job of pulling you in, keeping the pages turning even as your mind is simultaneously processing the new information and trying to figure out “whodunnit?” The Swiss detective remembered me a lot Poirot!🥸🚢
ā¤ā¤ā¤ā¤ Just saw the film it was absolutely great I loved it every single bit of it. Tina Faye doesn’t awesome job in her character in a serious role. The only criticism that I would have is the fact that when they did the filming of it the shooting of it is very dark the scenes are sometimes hard to see because it is so dark. The only other comment I have is I love Agatha Christie and at the end of the credits it says that this was based on Halloween party and it absolutely was not based on Halloween Party. But it is not at all. This is AI got the Christie tell story of its own kind and I really loved it and I would highly recommend everyone go see it who loves agatha Christie and spooky vibes and just an excellent scary tail that will keep you guessing until the end. Although I figured it out very early on.ā¤ā¤ā¤ā¤
I just wish they would give the detective some other name. For God’s sake, why Poirot? Dame Agatha Christie herself killed him in Curtain. Which means he himself would have to be a ghost to come back. I mean, I know he’s a popular character, but is it really difficult to think of another name? Good trailer, though.
