Without Creativity And Art, What Would Life Be?

Art is an essential part of our lives, as it helps us explore our creativity and express ourselves in unique ways. It is not just a form of expression but also a way of understanding the world and our place in it. Existentialists express diverging views about many topics, but they all invite individuals to live life with creativity. The philosophy of creativity is not just about art or aesthetics, but rather about life being energy.

In Julia Cameron’s bestselling creative guide, The Artist’s Way, the first of 10 basic principles is “Life is energy – pure creative energy”. The arts enrich our time on earth, touch our hearts, awaken our senses, and inspire our imaginations. Without art, we would not have literature, music, theater, and visual arts, as well as paintings, sculptures, and other forms of art.

A world without art would be like living in a mental asylum, with white walls everywhere and white walls hanging on. Creativity and imagination are necessary in life to see things beyond what’s visible. Without the arts, we would care for less, find less to be angry about, and need less than we do in our real world. Life without art would be unthinkable, and a place without art cannot exist as long as we still have thoughts.

Imagine a world without creatives and artists, where we would all be asleep, there would be no revolutions, and there would be no rebellion.

However, many people desensitize art due to the belief that it is no longer important or relevant. Government and school systems have decreased funding for the arts, leading to a scarcity of funding. Most of the remaining funding comes from donations and fundraising efforts. Society often treats art as a hobby, focusing on fine art like paintings or drawings.

Stealing ideas may seem cost-effective, but it is not effective in hiring and retaining creative employees. Instead, companies should buy creative ideas through licensing or buying up innovative start-ups. Uncreative companies often have to buy innovative companies or license ideas to innovate. Creative companies can innovate in-house or steal ideas cost-effectively.

In addition, without creativity, there is no differentiation. Today, companies often face a choice of barely distinguishable products in packaging, with few products truly standing out. This leads to choices based on past experience, special pricing, or boring advertisements. Therefore, creativity is essential for businesses to stay competitive and innovate.
