Three popular thread options for sewing denim are polyester thread, cotton-wrapped polyester thread, and heavy-duty thread. Polyester thread is strong and durable, making it an excellent choice for denim projects. Cotton-wrapped polyester thread combines the strength of polyester with the softness of cotton, while heavy-duty thread is best for heavy-duty denim projects like jeans or jackets. Jeans/denim thread is a specialty thread designed for denim projects, with a polyester core for strength wrapped in a cotton sheath.
For regular seams, all-purpose thread is used, but for topstitching and stress seams, use cotton-wrapped polyester core, such as D-Core® NWT. To hem jeans, choose the right needles, thread, tension, stitch length, foot, threading machine, and positioning. For non-stretch denim, use thick thread (with a size 100 needle) for topstitching. For construction, use all-purpose polyester thread, while for topstitching, switch to upholstery or topstitching thread. Use a fresh needle when sewing with denim.
For sewing denim, use branded polyester sewing thread like Gutermann, Coats, or Moon. Heavy-duty needles like size 16 are recommended. Recently, manufacturers have introduced Tex 120 size thread for a slightly bolder stitch appearance. Denim is thick fabric and requires strong threads, and sewing supplies usually carry threads specifically dedicated for denim or jeans. Two types of thread are needed for heming jeans: construction and topstitching, both made from polyester or cotton. Sashiko thread is recommended for mending jeans to ensure healing stitches last the next season.

I use a lot of gutterman on spools that look like what you show the buttonhole thread. They roll around inside my drawer. I would love to have an individual stand for each one. Not a rack like you can buy just something that goes up underneath the hole in the spool to keep the spool upright. Any ideas?

Question: When it comes to sewing denim I would like to know how the wrinkling effect of the seams are achieved? Please do not say throw the denim in the wash once all seems have been stitched. I tried that multiple times and it does not work. I safely assume there is a specialty machine that industry uses? If you happen to know what that machine is would you please tell me?
