📹 How to Deal with Burnout
Burnout at work or burnout at school, or burnout at home, is a type of emotional exhaustion that can lead a person to feel …
Why do I get burned out so easy?
Burnout is a common issue triggered by lifestyle factors like excessive work, lack of socializing time, and lack of sleep. Personality traits like perfectionism, pessimism, control, and high-achieving can also contribute. Trying to push through exhaustion can cause further emotional and physical damage. Overcoming burnout is crucial, and recognizing warning signs and changing direction can prevent further damage.
What causes burnout in hobbies?
Hobby burnout is often caused by unattainable expectations, as individuals strive to perfect their hobbies, which can become jobs, disrupting work-life balance and increasing the risk of burnout. Perfectionism can lead to stress instead of relaxation. While it’s okay to have goals for both ourselves and our hobbies, finding a balance is crucial. For instance, completing a sweater without harming mental health and physical state can be beneficial, but the danger arises when the project feels unproductive or when finding achievement in the hobby leads to a surplus of leisure time.
How to deal with hobby burnout?
The author suggests finding other hobbies to fill your time, such as reading books related to programming, building a startup, or running social media, to further your interests and apply them to your field. They encourage you to find something else related to your hobbies that you can do when you need a break, even if you don’t have anything.
Work on projects that excite you, as they can become stale in their excitement and serve as a distraction from the main project. Start any project that excites you and take it as far as you want, without fearing to take a break or switch off that one.
Another option is to take a break, such as turning on Netflix, napping for 8 hours, and not thinking about your hobby. This will help you stay focused and enjoy your time without feeling stale or bored.
Why do I give up on hobbies?
A hobby may lose interest if it becomes repetitive, contributes to a sense of monotony in one’s daily life, or loses its initial appeal. Individuals may lack interest or perceive the challenge level as insufficient to sustain pursuit of a hobby, leading to abandonment if they are not immediately proficient. In today’s competitive society, it is of the utmost importance to maintain self-esteem. Unrealistic expectations can lead to feelings of self-doubt and fear of being humiliated by one’s peers.
How do you know if you have a hobby burnout?
Loss of motivation or joy in hobbies can indicate burnout, low mood, and depression. This can be due to the brain’s inability to handle other tasks. Detaching from friends and family can also indicate exhaustion, as the thought of being around them may feel overwhelming. Cognitive function may not be optimal, making conversation difficult. Addressing these issues is crucial for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and overall well-being.
Why do people with ADHD switch hobbies?
ADHD sufferers often find hobbies as a way to release extra energy and curiosity, but maintaining a passion for these hobbies can be challenging. They often lose interest easily and struggle to maintain focus for extended periods, leading to hobbies being replaced by other activities like sports, fantasy books, musical instruments, photography, or video games. ADHD patients’ creativity, enthusiasm, and excitement can turn into obsessions within a week.
The journey of hobby development begins with curiosity, where the brain acquires knowledge about the interest and engages in impulsivity and hyperactivity. The excitement stage involves becoming devoted to the hobby, often with strong hopes for success. Hyperfocus, where the focus is on arranging everything for the hobby to succeed or researching related material, can lead to obsession and neglect of important daily activities. Therefore, hobbies can be a valuable tool for managing ADHD symptoms, but it is crucial for individuals with ADHD to maintain a passion for their hobbies.
Why do I get bored of hobbies so easily?
Boredom is frequently associated with imbalances in neurotransmitters such as dopamine, reduced density of dopamine networks, or genetic variability. Clinical psychologists have collaborated with clients who experience excessive boredom, underscoring the significance of comprehending and regulating these factors to enhance overall well-being.
Why am I so prone to burnout?
Job burnout, a prevalent phenomenon in the healthcare sector, can emerge from the confluence of heavy workloads, extended work hours, and challenges in achieving a healthy work-life balance. Such circumstances may result in feelings of lack of control, increased costs, and an elevated risk of developing health issues such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or type 2 diabetes. The resolution of these issues can enhance overall well-being.
Why am I getting burnt so easily?
Sunburn is a common health issue affecting individuals with light skin, freckles, blue eyes, red hair, high altitudes, or frequent outdoor activities. Symptoms include a hot, burning sensation, worsening when touched, redness, pain, tenderness, swelling, and peeling. First-degree sunburns can cause redness, pain, tenderness, swelling, and peeling. Dark skin can also experience sunburns, but they are harder to see.
What is hobby fatigue?
Hobby fatigue or burnout is a common issue where one’s hobbies become less enjoyable due to increased stress or overworking. To recover from burnout, it is essential to take time off and relax. However, some individuals may experience burnout from hobbies that usually help them relax, such as gaming, which can become more challenging as interests evolve and become more challenging. Gaming requires effort and can replace real-life grinding with virtual grinding, making it counterproductive. While some may still enjoy playing video games, the amount of time invested may decrease due to decreased interest and a busier schedule.

when the reflection popped out of the window… wow just wow! i felt a sudden rush of emotions like i was about to cry! I’ve always wanted this to happen bc for me it’s really hard to open up to somebody or even if i do they can’t manage to comfort so i just fake smile.. but all I’ve ever wanted was for my reflection to be able to just jump out and hug me and tell me it’s all going to be ok…
I’ve been feeling burnt out for the past 6 months from work. The stress keeps piling on until one day, I went into a mental breakdown. My body triggered some safety mechanism and all my stress melted away, however, at the same time I found it super hard to think straight. That’s when I realized if I didn’t stop it’s going to lead to a long time to recover. If you’re in that state or nearing the state because of constant stress, I recommend taking proper breaks or rest period. No job or school is worth destroying your mental or physical well being. Everything seems so large at that time but later on you realized its not so big at all. I’m quitting my job and going backpacking for awhile. I have enough funds to last me well over a couple months so I’ll be taking some time to recuperate. If you don’t have that opportunity, I recommend following the article. Yet, if its a job, try finding another one. It’s not worth destroying your health and well-being over a job. There’s plenty out there. If you’re in school, follow what the article talks about. Also, maybe think about doing a backpacking trip. You can go on a low budget trip and still experience the world. Don’t shirk your responsibility yet make sure it’s not the pressure from society, friends, parents or family forcing you into staying at a position you don’t want to be. Burnout is a sign that our body tells us there’s something wrong. Something’s not right. It’s good because then we notice it to start changing our circumstances, routines and lifestyle.
Posted this right when I needed it 🙂 I hope you take a small moment out of your day to read this, who ever is reading this, cause I promise you It won’t be a waste of your time since it’s a helpful piece of advice/information, anxiety is like a fitful child, think of a parent at the store and there child is taking a fit over not being able to get candy in the store they want, if the parent gives into the child yelling and screaming, and gets the candy to make them stop throwing a fit, sure it’ll make the child be quiet faster, but then the child will learn that taking a fit gets them what they want and will continue to do so and will even get more persistent with it, but if the parent doesn’t get the candy then the child will learn that screaming and taking a fit will not get them what they want, if you think of it this way anxiety is a lot like a fitful child, we tend to give into anxiety witch just teaches it that it can get what it wants by throwing a fit, your anxiety usually wants something from you weather that’s not hanging out with a friend cause of social anxiety, or not decluttering cause you don’t wanna deal with old things, escaping with playing article games, staying on your phone, or looking up your symptoms on google for a little bit of reassurance cause your anxiety is yelling at you to do so, but if you do it anyways and hang out with your friend or choose not to look up your symptoms your teaching your brain that taking a fit won’t solve anything, of course at first this may be annoying to hear this child screaming and yelling at you but if you don’t give in and keep persistence eventually you will be dealing with little to no anxiety and your fitful child will understand that taking a fit doesn’t get them what they want 🙂 hope this helps <3 (tried making it as gender neutral as possible)
This is something very prevalent in society, but often under the line of notice. Thank you for sharing this informative piece. The vibe of the character in this article is basically me too… Constantly seeking to better self in life, and discovering self-preservation tactics such as those against burnout.
So,I really don’t have a place to vent out rn and I thought I could use this comment section.i have my college entrance exams on April but it is getting so hard day by day to focus on studying.i never was a motivated person.the only reason I pushed through all these years is only because of the expectations my family has of me.it became very stressful at one point in my life and I started breaking down from that point.i cannot concentrate on my studies as much as I want to and now college entrance exams are knocking at the door.in my country it is very important to go into a reputable college as there isn’t much quality education and opportunities available in many colleges.so I am going through a very stressful situation right now and a very unhealthy period (mentally).I have experienced burnouts from time to time.i was trying my best to keep myself together at least before my entrance exams but I very much failing to do so.my anxiety has sky rocketed. I always had a habit of picking the skin of my feet or toes or fingers. It has worsened over the last two months due to stress and it is now kinda painful to even walk as the under (?) Part of my feet has wounds. I feel so stuck all the time and I keep comparing myself to others all the freaking time. I don’t know how I am going to get through this.
It’s a shameful thing for me to admit I’m still recovering from burnout. When Covid first started my job moved us to remote and became we were told to isolate I took on taking care of my 3 year old as well. I feel like no one understands how much of a toll it took on me. From being scared of my family getting Covid and working while taking care of my son and being isolated on top of it just really took a toll on me.
I’m in school and i am suffering for last 4 months . I can’t deal this anymore . My head is paining right now tomorrow is my exam . I’m happy because my parents convinced my school principal so that I could do it online (like work from home). I’m anxious and feeling so bad because I will cheat tomorrow. I know writing this is total waste of time but I am doing this so that I could escape study;
I am worth it! People WILL like me, it’s just a matter of time. I will most certainly have a good night’s sleep and wake up to a productive morning and go on to ace in the math test. I’m an amazing person and my friends will look forward to converse with me tomorrow. I am the best in math class and I will finish the AOPS book.
I feel sad lately because I used to be able to do my work in school but ever since I took a one week break I got super lazy and had lack of motivation.I started to stop submitting assignments and the end of the marking period is closer. I know I failed this marking period because I didn’t do any work. My mom will be disappointed and mad at me. And when I start trying to do homework i start tearing up cause I want to cry. And I absolutely don’t believe in myself I know this is long but I just wanted to rant this out 🙁 I know this is unrelated but today in math class I usually don’t do my homework because I’m lazy :,( and the teacher moved my seat to the back of the classroom because a girls mother wanted her daughter to be seated in the front. and I was ok with it but then he continued and said that the seat was too good for me and I don’t deserve it not in a rude way but I just wish he’d told me to just sit in the back even if it’s true :,(
I can relate to burnout because I have experienced it from time-to-time for the past five years. I struggle taking time to rest for myself and this has been the main cause of why I feel burned out often. Last year, I started to understand why it’s important to rest, but I find it hard putting in the action up to this day. However, I try to think of each day as a new opportunity to attempt giving rest another try and hope I’m able to do so so that I don’t get into another burnout again. Thank you for this insightful article!
When I burned out I just resigned because I didn’t feel like I was worth anything and I assumed nobody would believe me but think poorly of me instead. I have a disability but my boss didn’t believe me when I told him. I worked every day, one time I even worked 72 hours straight. Been at the bottom and unemployed for two years now
hey guys! IK THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT article TO MSG THIS BUT IM VERY SAD AND CRYING RN. RN I JUST GOT THE NEWS THAT I FAILED 3 SUBJECTS IN MY CLASS AND IM IN DEPRESSION. KINDLY MOTIVATE ME TO KEEP GOING CAUSE I FEEL LIKE GIVING UP AND IM LOSSING HOPE. I FEEL LIKE I CANT DO IT AND I KEEP ON DISSAPOINTING MY PARENTS AND MYSELF!
About a year ago, I played the trumpet, I played it since 6th grade, but a year ago I wasn’t able to keep up and I couldn’t play the notes right, after a while I couldn’t get a high note out, after a while after that, I couldn’t get a sound out of it, my parents thought I was just making excuses because I couldn’t do this and I didn’t know why. Am I burnt out?
I’ve experienced feelings of depersonalization for some time now and I’m pretty sure it’s a symptom of burnout(someone reply to me if I’m wrong) But the tip of completing the stress cycle has helped me reduce the stress a lot because at first, it felt overwhelming for me to deal with but I started doing progressive muscle relaxation and meditation for the emotional release and it really helped a lot and I’m glad you guys are bringing this to attention because burnout is super underrated and not fully recognized despite how common it is.
Thank you so much for adding the bonus solutions. In to my 40s now and I am so lost in life that I have forgotten how to do things without someone holding my hand and guiding me. And let me tell you, no one wants to hold your hand when you get older. I never needed a hand before but I feel lost without it. I have delt with the worst depression and ptsd my entire life but I have had the deep feeling of lost and without purpose for and constant worry for more then 6 years now. I hope I can find my way again soon because it is literally killing me quicker. I HOPE! 😟
I feel like I’m in a hole I can’t get out of. I hate my job though I should be grateful I have a good and stable source of income. I work out every day and sleep my good 8 hours and I try to keep myself light headed listening to music and enjoying as much as I can. However this dark cloud is always following me and as soon as I sit down in my computer to work my body and mind are just not cooperating. I feel there is no hope for me. I’ve tried meditating, manifesting, praying, but just nothing seems to make me feel unstuck. I just want to love my job again
One thing to keep in mind is that focusing or working for extended periods of time is a skill that needs to be practiced. just like training a muscle or any other skill. It needs to develop incrementally over an extended period of time (basically not in one day). The only other way around this is an extreme intervention or extreme will power.
i’m feeling burnt out bcus currently going through an important finals exam,, i have 3 papers each week,, i did pretty terrible on today’s paper and before,, it makes me frightful to face the next paper,, really want to do well but my brain’s a bit tired,, and then after exam i’d cry a lot due to how bad i couldn’t do it,,
Hi! I feel like I’m burned out on just about everything – the internet for sure – this street I’ve lived on for over 3 years & this entire area I relocated to and my boring existence. Today I couldn’t go out, I tried and got dizzy and had to come back home. I’m fatigued and lightheaded all the time. When I sleep I dream a lot plus I have to wake up to go to the bathroom to frequently. Plus I have sleep apnea somewhat.
I don’t know how I went from being a topper to an average failure. Ever since I’ve entered 9th grade, I’ve been going through this phase of academic burnout where I just can’t focus on my studies like I used to. I’ve been failing, getting average grades and I don’t know how to get myself back to the scope
HEY GOOD MORNING MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY I JUST WANTED TO STOP BY TO SEE HOW EVERYONE IS DOING THIS MORNING I CAN RELATE TO THIS TOPIC, IT’S A REAL THING, I TRY TO JUST GET AWAY FROM EVERYTHING, I JUST GO OUTSIDE AND JUST SET FOR A LITTLE BIT AND GET INTO MYSELF, PLEASE KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS, AND HAVE A BLESSED DAY TEE INTELL LATER ON MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY .🙏💯🙏💙💪 TEE
1. the thing is it is schoolwork itself though, I do that because I hate actually doing the work. For some reason I also end up with better ideas sometimes on like writing exercises when I work last minute. 3 (2:57) no, I hated it then and I dont really feel like going to bed now because the only thing that awaits me the next day is more school. But yes, I probably should… 4:48 dancing? working out? come on now, do I really have to do that? Also I dont have a pet 5:20 sure….
I rarely leave any comments on articles before but I just want to say thank you, I’ve been feeling desperate and just tired of everything. I lost my passion a long time ago, I used to come up with a lot of creative things and even though most of them didn’t work I was proud of the process and the dedication I poured into it. Nowadays, I’m not sure of the things I want to do anymore and would just waste my time doing unproductive things that never really helped me of who I want to be. I’m tired but I want to be happy, I hope I can take things slow and work myself back up so I can enjoy my life again.
Im pretty sure i have been experiencing burnout ever since the start of juniour high school and i just think to myself: The only source of comfort have is article games, i dont know what i should do to make myself happy when article games is literally the only thing. I have been just gaming, gaming, gaming, just hiding the actual stress that is school and disappointment. How am i supposed to prioritize mental health over school when my entire life depends on school. If i get a bad grade, my parents will get dissapointes and I’ll just feel even more depressed and sad. But at the same time, i know deep inside that i shouldn’t be so hard on myself, yet even if my grades end up being horrible, what really matters are my end grades at the end of 10th grade which is what actually matters. Actually, its not even school that is the main point, its just that I’m scared to disappoint my parents and live a shitty life all because i couldn’t remember one simple thing. I mean to be honest, i dont think school is the only problem, like family issues. But its like 11:50PM and I’m tired so I’m going to bed. Pray to entire earth that i succeed in a test i have tomorrow when i wasn’t able to force myself to study. Gn, I’ll maybe respond to replies tomorrow if anyone actually reads this
i need to maintain my gpa but oh my god this burnout is bad.. its messing with my attendance. i get the work done. projects done but when it comes to having enough social battery for classes i legit slack off. skipped 3 classes already in 2 weeks and its genuinely disappointing to me, this doesn’t feel like me at all. its not that i think ill slack off forever im just nervous of the amount of slacking im already doing will mess up my plans. while telling myself its taking care of myself and believing that theres a bigger picture, my world wont crash. yet.. i still tend to guilt trip myself. guess i cant decide whether to chill or cry 😂
This website is part of my armoury to remind me to look after myself as a routine. Just coming out of deep depression, anxiety, self neglect, long shifts in high stress job, complex grief, sexual and domestic abuse and Covid. Keeping track is hard. Self care, nutrition, non judgemental help have been hard to find. But I’m improving. It’s hard but you are the co ordinator of your health. Good luck all.
Though I just love this website and I really do think that many articles have helped me out, I think even people who do not go through stuff like burnouts and depressions will make interpretations or start thinking that way…depression, mood swings and things as such have really become more of a trend these days…
Yess!!! I knew it!! Ty Pschy2Go, I was currently enrolled to a new school with a different culture and it’s so hard to socialize with different types of people with different humor and I realize I was suffering a social burn out and just need that oxytocin release but can’t get it in my new school. I’ll try to do some excercise at home or just stop using YouTube so much and put a timer on it😭😭maybe like just for 4 hrs a day.❤️❤️💯💯🥰and putting my health first💖💖and self-awareness
Avoiding burnout is possible, but unfortunately, burnout can still happen if you let the symptoms go unnoticed. Pay attention to your mental and physical condition and don’t ignore taking care of yourself to reduce your stress. Breaking the cycle of constant stress is a great first action you can take to avoid burnout!
I’m sorry if this sounds wrong. But for a long time I wanted to tell you something. You have a really beautiful Voice. It is calming and relaxing, sometimes even makes one (or me) feel happy, when I watch your articles. I also observed that sarcastic Tone in your Voice, while mentioning 1 or 2 Things (in this article); and had a small Laugh. Thank you. I wish you all the best at everything you do. Take care
My burnout reason 1. I don’t like myself 2. I m being left out by my friends 3. Everyone got boyfiee 4 preparing for neet so it really does make me feel like giving up … But no i can’t do this to myself. 5. Not able to manage every subj specially physics … Damn this subj is making me cry so hard . Ok Bieeee need to study
I got a full time job late last year, and work 40 hours, and am AT work for 45 hours a week, as I get an hour long lunch. I’m not a morning person, and need to wake up at 7 am to make it to work at 8 am. I had to get myself on a real sleep schedule, as my last job I worked 3 days a week, and didn’t have to be there until 10am, and lived a mile away. So, I quickly had to adjust to a reasonable schedule. I’m in bed by 10pm, and wake up at 7am. I got to work, I come home and shower, then eat, and from about 7-10 I have ‘me’ time, in whatever form that takes. I also tend to call out one day a month, and have 2 days planned(and approved) off in March, just to give me a long weekend to unwind and reset. And on days where I’m really feeling out of it, I’ll take a nap on my lunch. I’ll eat, and the time I have left after, usually 45-30 minutes, I’ll go to my car and nap in the back seat. I did that everyday for the first 2 months of the job. Now it’s just an occasional thing. I am certainly not cut out fir a full time job, but I’ve gotta do what I’ve gotta do. Things could be worse. I like my job, but that doesn’t mean I like working 40 hours a week. So I definitely take the extra steps I need to in order to avoid that burnout.
I’m a 16 year old artist that is able to graduate my junior year, has scholarships available, and a great knack for art but honestly..I’m burn out on everything..I can’t even enjoy art anymore..and honestly nothing has worked, breaks, trying something new, trying therapy..I can drawn really well still but it doesn’t make me happy, my favorite game to stream has gotten so toxic and unbalanced that I can’t enjoy it anymore, and school is becoming more of a nuisance because I can’t just graduate now, and my parents just think I’m happy and that I can’t be stressed out because I’m only 16, can’t get a job because most turn me down because I have Aspergers, and school is becoming more of a dangerous environment to even look at, I love my life but it just feels like I’m done with it, not su¡cidal or anything it’s just, I wanna just hang out with friends all the time and be free
I had a huge mental breakdown last year while I was pregnant from being to stressed and burnt out. Now I’m constantly feeling burnt out and like I can’t get anything right or get anything done.. it’s a task on a task with my baby by my side. I’m so tired and been so rude to those around me even if I don’t mean it..I just say what I think without..well thinking twice.. I’m annoyed that no one realized I am not so happy and energetic as always. They literally only see the bad.
Not that anyone cares but… i got my english marks a day before my mathematics exam. This exam season i have tried my best.. i always do and my hardwork goes to vain… like when will life… the universe let me improve all i want is to suceed in something i try my best in. I know that people say that hardwork pays off but it’s been years and i’m still stuck. I dont know what to do anymore, i feel like i’m on a threadmill going on the same slow speed. My hardwork doesn’t pay off, my positivity dosn’t work…what will?
How is burn out can be? I mean how long it can be? Feeling burn all the time since I change new environment and work place, not sure whether it is burn out or just depression. 😢 feeling suck all the time and not productive at all. Feeling angry all the time while working and sad at night. But when talking and facing other people, I’m fine I guess….
i wake up fine, the moment I turned on my laptop for work, my brain just immidiately starts boiling, the stress rage sad every negative feeling from seeing these work stuff is just intense rn that I just avoid it completely sometime. It get worse everyday that I have to pretend I never worked for the company. Maybe its not for me. Might quit soon.
Ughhh, Actually this world and life cycle is too smol to complete ourselves! 🤗Ik that i sound ridiculous but ur voice is so CALM 😌. Agree ur points 💕 But ig no one should be unhappy with themselves. Everyone becomes so happy If they know they’re putting 200% of their. They always overdo everything still unhappy with results. I advise that just be urself. Always Happy. Results doesn’t matter. Only matters that what u learnt from that ❣️
To anyone who struggles with falling asleep, something I do sometimes is listen to/watch ASMR. It helps slowly turn my brain off when it’s going a million miles an hour. I usually the ASMRtist I look up is “Luna Bloom ASMR” (specifically her “follow my instructions for sleep” articles), or “ASMR Shanny” (she in particular has good roleplays to help wind you down).
Lmao I guess there is no more oxytocin synthesis going on anymore for me🥲.Love how my own brain is stripping me of any joy in life.Up untill recently I enjoyed doing sport, have been doing it since the pandemic,I still do it but I guess no more oxytocin,I do not feel the same after it,nor when I am in the middle of the workout…Yeah it’s going well…😞Anyway how is your day going hope you are doing awesome!
Good article about important matter. Getting sick days from work because of fatigue and tiredness is hard. Usually you need “real” symptoms. I myself didn’t even realize I was burned out before severe physical and mental symptoms appeared. 😢 All the best to all of you who are struggling with overstress and mental fatigue. ❤
The realization just hit me quite recently that while I have this and that to do and fix and manage, I should instead start by focusing on my sleep. It’s been awfully bad for a longer time now, and (surprise, surprise) it has finally started to affect me. This also for a while now. I’m lucky that I’m at a point in life at the moment that I can turn my somewhat full attention to this. The rest of the “list” is obviously important too. However, I’ve learnt that concentrating on a few matters at the time, can provide better results, too. In the past I’ve done that mistake of trying to fix and avoid stress and so on a multiple level. In turn, that became something that ate itself and caused more harm. So keeping this in mind, I really like the last point that is mentioned in the article, self-love.
I can’t avoid any of my stressors and I can’t take time from any of the stresses either. I’m slammed between 7 hours of school on the weekdays and 7 hours of a closing shift at a s*** pizza joint, and eight more hours of unconscious time that I don’t get to enjoy while awake. All in all I maybe get 2 hours a day to myself if I’m lucky, minus commute times from school and work. My college class is almost done in May but until that time I’m stuck. All that can be done is just keep going. I don’t have enough time to recharge from my stressors, and I also can’t take time off from my stressors or everything will come falling apart. It’s rough out here people, I hope you all get to where you want to go and do the things that you want to do and get to enjoy the time that you deserve. Stay strong everybody.
I am, or I was really active, I used to do exercise and dance, because I was happy and passionate about it, but now it just feels like a responsability and, i just look for another activities to pop out just so I don’t have to do exercise, I think that I might not need to write this but it feels better to talk about it
My dream is to start a podcast with a similar message to blue collar workers. I’m a plumber with 15 years in. With 3 shots of cortisone and an epidural to the back I have an idea of what burnout looks and feels like. People need to be reminded that your wealth is your health Thanks for the inspiration. By the way your voice was made for this..
the fact that i use sleep as an escape from reality, that is the guilt of being unproductive for a significant time of my life already, is stressing me these days. also, not in the position to explain burnout to any of my closed ones. can’t even explain the cause behind the downfall of my grades, to the ones who are eagerly waiting for me to bounce back. but nobody explains how? 🙁 i want to get back to my past self as soon as possible. ahhh…this is so hard!!
the only reason why I have stress is because I have to worry about my grades, I have to do piano until I can get hang of the song, I am always tired even if I sleep, and my mom always yell at me when I forget to do something on accident Edit: I never actually liked piano my mom only signed me up for piano lessons just because I liked the song played by the piano
I know that this and other articles focus a lot on Work burnout, but I want to say I believe you can experience social burnout too, perhaps even romantic burnout, especially as an introvert. Currently, I feel like I’m experiencing something between the two. I’m a single male in his 30s now, and it is STRESSING ME THE FFFF OUT that I am single again, and what with casual dating in the state it’s in, currently in 2022. I am having trouble falling asleep, can’t focus on work, and find my every waking moment is filled with thoughts of “well if I go out and do this or that, maybe I’ll meet \\*her!\\*” or “If I was at this place minding my own business, what would I do if \\*she\\* walked up to me and started talking?!”. I fully realize that these thoughts are just ok – they aren’t the healthiest, and they aren’t the worst thoughts one could have. But the number/frequency of them that I have, of all different kinds of scenarios… it’s just overwhelming. And constant. And honestly annoying. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m not putting myself out there because I KNOW I’m only doing it to try and do it to find \\*her\\*. Or someone who I can bother about my needs as a social being. Well, introverted social being, but I still want to be listened to, talked to. I still want to be valued. So I clicked on this article after several others because I think I’m honing in on this being a burnout problem. I’m burned out over looking for companionship, of hoping to find the *one*, of constantly doubting my every move.
Rn I’m in my 3rd breakdown for today and I have something really big for me due tomorrow. I have to say a whole 1-2 minute poem infront of my class tomorrow. I have scopophobia and my grandma and sister won’t allow me to get a slip from my counselor and just like, not stress abt it. I’ve been wayyy toooo sleep deprived. Depression has been really a big thing for me this week too. I honestly don’t know if I can do this. I’m considering every possibility, maybe I’m burnt out. No one understands how bad I feel because I can’t describe it. I’m maybe burnt out but Idk if I can tell my parents this without them forcing me to go through it, STILL.
I am not sure how to feel about this one. These are habits I needed to (and successfully) developed years ago but they are no longer enough in my current job. I have been required to put in unpaid overtime nearly every week this year, work weekends, answer my manager’s Slack DM’s + emails after hours (somtimes as late as 1 am) and on vacation, and still get even more work piled onto me despite insisting this is more than I can handle since November. My manager will not respect work-life boundaries and dismisses all workload-related concerns. Is there anything more I can do to mitigate burnout? Quitting is not realistic for the foreseeable future I cannot find a therapist accepting new patients with my insurance.
To be honest, I really like your website because it gives me more info to think about my behaviour, reason about anything like why i am feeling demotivated and stressed out. But the best part about all of your articles is YOUR VOICE. Its like a therapy on its own way. Doesnt matter how much stress I have, hearing your voice give me a feeling of being comfortable and calmness. Thanks a lot:goodvibes:
I was writing a crime story I was wondering if you can help me find out mental disorders that I can give my characters anyways if you don’t mind I would like to give you a shoutout because you articles have helped me picked some already and I have to say you are awesome. I subscribed to you when it was less than 1M
This made me emotional because its been 3 weeks that i simply feel into a hole where i cant seem to get anything done, and im not eating well nor sleeping, yesterday i only ate once and it was junkfood. So im happy to know what happened and i see it is because im stressed and anxious about all the New changed in my life and New responsibilities. I hope i can fix this and if you are feeling The same, just feeling a little down and not knowing why, i hope you feel better and it gets better
My life was dinner standing up a 4kg weight gain that led to ill health. I currently wont eat or drink. I had been fainting due to low oxygen levels. I have a plumber in and my room smells like shxt and i decided lets not. I get 4 hours sleep and had first seizure in 18 years. So house is fantastic. They drilled for 8 hours ina toilet i dont use as i dont require much food. I gained 4kg from energy ffs.
Burnout essentially means that your own Personal Care has been Sacrificed in pursuit of Outward Rewards. Whether that Pressure has been put on you by yourself or by a boss, take a moment to realize that Nothing is worth your Health Some Preventive measures 1) Fix the Sleep Schedule 2) Take Sunlight 3) Vit + Min 4) Avoid Porn & Masturbation (especially Men) 5) Complete yr Responsibilities First 6) Complete the Stress Cycle: Stress – Rest – Stress – Rest – …… 7) No screen at Night 8) Meditate before Sleeping
This is me rn tbh, I’m experiencing a rly bad burnout here but I’m slowly recovering 🙏 a while ago about 2 months ago, I got a new job at the warehouse full time I worked my ass off to try and impress my new boss, and supervisors but then about half a month or 2 later I’m experiencing the burnout symptoms like stomach aches and headaches etc it was starting to get worse for me but I still kept pushing through it at work bc my goals for this year is to try and keep a job long term
Im sorry but this article wasnt helpful. The title to me was misleading, “How to Deal with Burnout” as someone who is burnt out right now in an exam block I am not clicking on this article without realising what is ‘causing my burnout’ or what burnout is im trying to figure out how to deal with it the most effective way possible and just saying, complete a sleep cycle and take care of yourself doesnt really help me there. Maybe its just me blinded by stress but I dont think the title is right for this article.
finished my whole school year in under 4 months online. im burnt tf out😔 i haven’t done anything in basically 2 months. i dont even wanna open my laptop… i want to get back to work but i cant find the energy or motivation to do it. everyday i literally just sit around, do my chores and go to sleep. it was amazing at first because i was finally able to do nothing after working nonstop, but soon, everyone gets busy and caught up with their own schoolwork, you’re the only one who’s available. so its not fun anymore
I’m a 4th year uni student with a bunch of repeat papers from exams where I spent slaving to prepare and when I got my results and saw how horrible they were it just felt like a huge punch to the gut. I’d been struggling with my mental health and focus for the longest time and had started to be more proactive about it by journaling and trying out exercises on my own because therapy here is out of question and I don’t have close friends who I can talk to about this without them brushing it off. I feel like with everything happening, I want to take a huge break for about a year or two if I could.
