Which Tax Schedule Is Used For Child Care Claims?

To claim the Child and Dependent Care Credit (CDCC), you must complete Form 2441, Child and Dependent Care Expenses, and include it when filing your Federal income tax return. You must provide a valid form and meet all tests required to claim a credit. The eligibility to claim the CCC depends on the amount you paid to care for a qualifying child, spouse, or other dependent.

To claim the credit, you must complete Form 2441, “Child and Dependent Care Expenses”, and include the form when filing your Federal income tax return. You may be entitled to childcare benefits, which contribute towards the costs of childcare and reduce your dependent care expenses by the amount of these benefits.

Families must file a federal income tax return and submit Form 2441, “Child and Dependent Care Expenses”, along with the provider’s name, address, and other information. Child care expenses are amounts you or another person paid to have someone else look after an eligible child.

Form 2441 is used to determine the amount of child and dependent care expenses for which you may be able to claim a tax credit. When your W-2 shows dependent care benefits, you must complete Form 2441 (Form 1040), Part III, even if you’re not claiming a Child and Dependent Care Credit.
