A new map by Newsweek reveals that the most vegan-obsessed states are mainly in the west and northeast of the country. The map is based on research by Total, which found that Florida has three cities in the top 15 rankings for vegan friendliness. Florida, along with Orlando, Miami, and Tampa, secured the 3, 8, and 15 spot. Mississippi and North and South Dakota were the worst places in America for vegans, while Oregon and the West Coast region were consistently the best areas.
Nevada is the most consistently “vegan” state, achieving the highest search value for 12 years out of 15. This is followed by Vermont, Washington, and California. California, well-known for its abundance of vegan offerings, boasts the largest number of vegan restaurants in a state of 39 million people. Los Angeles alone has 30 vegan restaurants.
The Vegan Review collected data from Yelp, Happy Cow, and the US Census Bureau to find out which states had the most fully vegan restaurants per capita. Orlando stands out in the study for having the highest percentage of restaurants featuring vegan menu options.
The map follows a familiar divide, with Nevada standing among the top five states in the US with the highest search volume for vegetarian-related keywords. The city of São Paulo had the most vegetarians in absolute terms (792,120 people), while Fortaleza had the highest percentage at 14 of the total population. California is the best because it is part of their culture. North Dakota is the worst, as there is hardly anything looks like veggie on the menu. Portland, Oregon, took the top spot, while San Bernardino, California, came in dead last. Scottsdale, Arizona, didn’t make the top 20, but it did have the highest proportion of vegan restaurants.

JAI HARYANA 😎🥛🥛💪 Second largest pure vegetarian state after rajasthan… But mostly all of wrestlers and boxers are from haryana… We consume only Milk, ghee and milk related products and then also maximum no. Of strongest guys of India are from Haryana…. देशो मे देश हरियाणा जित दुध दही का खाना।।🥛🥛💪😎
In south India especially in Karnataka only few Kannada jains in North Karnataka are strictly vegetarian, few kannada brahmins in big cities eat fish rarely and very few eat chicken biriyani (exceptional). Rest others eat meat regularly, south Karnataka people eat meat a lot compared to north Karnataka, festivals also include meat dishes. 20% vegetarian is false data because many people who eat meat don’t accept in front of others ! But they eat meat secretly with meat eating friends, such people eat more compared to regular meat eaters 😋. Older generation people reluctant to eat meat but younger generation of all communities at least once eat meat. So in conclusion strict vegetarians in Karnataka might be 10% only. I’m from Karnataka.
I’m from Assam I’m vegan. I touch non veg stuffs & give to my pet or street dogs. People are vegetarian that’s good not even touch non veg hate the stuffs. but wearing leather belts, jackets, shoes, having expensive brand leather bags and wearing ornaments & accessories which made of animal teeth, skin that doesn’t make sense to be pure vegetarian. Consuming milk products is also okay but that suppose to be home produce stuffs from my vision People don’t know what happens inside a diary farm how poor those cows, buffaloes n calves If I’m wrong sorry for this. Watch Peepal Farm stories. I have seen so many vegetarian people in north,in South & even in East they abuse this stuffs . Thanks for ur informative article…

Proud to be a non vegetarian. Vegetarian diet was introduced by aryans. They imposed wheat farming instead of the millets which were uses in Indus Valley. Vegetarian is not good for Indians. It is the cause for obesity and diabetes in indians. Rice and wheat are full of starch. It is pushing indians to diabetes. Still today majority of people are still under the wrong impression that non vegetarian food is not good for health. But it is totally wrong. Non veg food also if eaten in moderation is good for health. Non veg food was widely used in Indus Valley. Since vegetarians cannot eat meat, to eat something savoury they eat fried in oil things like poori, samosa, kachori, bhajji, bonda etc etc etc and also sugary sweets like gulab jamun, jalebi, etc etc etc. This is the no.1 cause of cholesterol and diabetes. Non veg food with millets and raw vegetables is the best food suitable for indians body type. The sooner they adopt this life style, the better for them.
So you Indians don’t think your selves as Indians! You only care about your own provinces and own race! That’s really fun to know Indian democracy is a big fun! I never thought Indian people from different provinces fight among one another like cats and dogs, with a minor issue like vegetarians and non vegetarians, that’s really entertaining for us! I was really unaware about this. Thank you Indian members for your comments that help me to achieve my knowledge about India! 😂🤣
Please note these statistics :- 1. You take 3 times X 7 days food == 21times 2. Out of this 21, even the hardcore Indian non-vegetarian people also DO NOT EAT NONVEG MORE THAN 10 times in a week. 3.Most of the poor Indian non veg people can afford to eat non veg only 3-4 times in a week. If you consider food from other countries, almost 21 times, they eat non veg food… That’s the MAIN DIFFERENCE between Indian non veg guys and foreigners(China/Europe/Africa/America)… Keeping all this in mind.. definitely the LEVEL OF VEGETARIANISM in India is pretty HIGH compared to other countries.
The question of being vegetarian or non vegetarian is not about religion or caste anymore. It’s about preserving the eco system and the bio diversity. Just switching to electric automobile won’t change anything. There is massive deforestation to raise grazing fields for cattles, there is over fishing in the oceans, there is risk of virus from wet markets etc, etc. Being a vegetarian is about being a better citizen of the world.
I think everybody should know west bengal stats. 99% non vegetarians but I am vegetarian. 95% Cats and dogs are on the streets. Fish and eggs required for street animals and daily use. Then liquor consumers 95%. Poor and middleclass 97%, 1%Millionaires net worth of 6.5 crores. only 10 billionaires net worth more than 5000 cr and 6 conglomerates total revenue of 100 000 cr ie 15 billion usd. 0.5 % politicians, govt officers and police and 1% criminals mostly muslim from bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Corrupt officials have 100 crores net worth and honest official do not have 10 lakh. 99% corrupt 1 % honest and yet everyone is happy. Dead state. Unemployment will strike in 5 years
Humanity is more important than Vegetarian concept or Non-Vegetarian concept. There are good people in both Vegetarian diet and Non-Vegetarian diet. Any person can turn from Veg to Non-Veg or Non-Veg to Veg. It all depends upon person’s choice and traditional practice. People must respect each others culture and look for the productivity of the Nation or economic growth of Nation. There is nothing great to be a Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian. Non Veg food is rich in protein, Omega, fatty acids, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Potassium, Zinc, Iron etc. Veg Food is rich in Fiber, Vitamins and protein, fat. Veg Diet and Non-Veg diet are good for health. For Example: Our country’s soldiers are the meat eaters who need more protein and stamina. The food choice depends upon the digestion power of the person. Especially diary products fall under Veg are rich in fat, Calcium etc, Dals and Pulses are rich in protein. Please do not argue each other for the superiority of food. There is nothing called superior or inferior. We must respect all types of food, all traditions, all religions, all castes, all customs and understand each other in order to lead a happy peaceful life. Thank You.
In our Karnataka, there are 21% declared vegetarians. Rest 79% are normal ones. But that 21% has liers who eat meat(approx. 10-15%). We eat meat once or twice a week and in festive periods and religious ritual’s. Proud to be a normal being like rest of the world rather than being a psycho. (Non veg is a meaningless castiest word invented in hotels of Delhi in early 1950s).
I personally being a vegetarian do not see being a vegetarian is something to be proud of. You have a lot of food choices, you can afford it and hence we choose to be all these. I have seen people telling ” I am a proud vegetarian”. It just means you don’t choose to eat a lot of things that other people consumes. It would be so better if you be proud of yourself for respecting diversity, food habits, dressing habits and not for simply eating veg food. Understand choices. Respect differences.
This explains why mughals were so easily able to defeat the northerners, it’s all because of vegetarianism. They literally don’t have the aggression needed to ward off the invaders because of their foolish diet as a result of which they were sujugated by them so easily, this also explains why they are so backward compared to the southern region. Why blame invader when you only made it easy for them to come and hurt you? I am proud of my non vegetarian diet, it’s hundred times better than some foolish compassion.
Population wise Uttar Pradesh is the most vegiterians while percentage wise Rajsthan and Gujraat are most vegiterians. In Uttar Pradesh,Brahmans,Baniya and Jain community are almost completely vegiterian while Rajputs and Yadav and other caste are 10 to 20 percent are vegiterian.Muslims which are most population in UP are completely non vegiterians.
And most of indian sportsperson came from haryana, punjab and rajasthan after all what really matters is your nutrition intake from healthy options. There are not much haryanvis foods famous because of there less spicy, and less fancy nature. But i tasted haryanvi foods many times initially i found them tasteless but those are healthy. Mostly includes lots of lentils, dals, dahi, milk, lassi, ghee in very high quantity, wheat and bajra roti, and sabjis.
Kerala I’m sure not even 3%… I haven’t seen anyone here who doesn’t eat meat, they don’t exist here…. We are hardcore non-veg meat eaters for centuries now, part of our culture…. Chicken, mutton, pork, beef, sea food, duck, fresh water food, you name it…. We cook everything here 🤣🤣🤣:goodvibes: I think we have the highest meat consumption per capita here…. *We believe in balanced diet here, and being both veg and non veg is the key to ultimate nutrition….
