Guys be careful . Print on Demand sounds good an all. My self and others who have been doing this for a while have had horrible experiences with these companies. I have gone through four different ones. Not only were we having alot of quality issues. We later found out that they were selling our products on their own and not reporting it to us. creating their own links .. WOW…. Be careful more common than you think. Also do your homework and due diligence on the market. There is only a few companies that are making profit. I feel sometimes that these “influencers” kind of pump you up as if its for everyone . That is part of the reason why we are seen an oversaturated e commerce market. I spoke to someone who works for Shopify and he informed me that they make their money on vendor subscriptions vs actual % sales. That is why they push that narrative that “anyone can sell” There is a reason why 98% percent of e commerce startups dont make it passed a year..
Homie keeps saying ‘Fear of God’ but comparing it to the Essential brand. I’m sure (or at least I hope) the dude in the article is aware that Fear of God and Essentials is NOT the same far as quality and fabric used. I own 2 Fear of God hoodies, a black one from the fourth collection and a grey one from the fifth collection. I also own a black FOG Essentials hoodie from 2019, a brown one from 2021 and grey one from 2022 and the quality is not even close, Fear of God (not Essentials) is much higher quality and fitting. It’s damn near perfect, while every Essential hoodie I own, + the ones Ive tried on all fit different. The sizing is completely fucked. I get all my hoodies in a medium and only the Fear of God hoodies fit like a medium, oversized but proper fitting, and the Essentials are completely all over the place in the fit department. Also the only reason why Jerry used Fear of God or FOG in the beginning days of Essentials was to appeal to those that wanted Fear of God garments but couldn’t afford it, so slap the name FOG or Fear of God underneath ‘ESSENTIALS’ and everybody thinks they own a Fear of God shirt or hoodie. Once Jerry noticed Essentials was holding its own (and also didn’t want to cause an identity crisis because Essentials was outpacing Fear of God in sales and viewership) he changed it to just Essentials. But, once Essentials started falling off a few years ago, he put Fear of God name back on to drive sales up again and it worked. Goes to show how strong “Fear of God’ naming is when added underneath or above ‘ESSENTIALS’.
If your a CRAFTER YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT YOU CAN DO THIS WITH A CIRCUIT MACHINE… I would recommend the circuit maker because you can not just make clothes but you can make stickers up to 12 inches big.. You can also make cups and amazing amount of items you can though of but truely can make with the circuit maker.. How i know is because i have owned all the circuits since they came out and the circuit maker is the top of the line when it comes to running a business from home and making multiple items from clothing, stickers, books, mugs and anything you can imagine to get your point across for your brand..!!. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MINE and My Running My Business From Home, Specially Creating Something New Everyday..!!
Hi John! Love the article. Thank you for this knowledge. What if we want to use a premium blank you shared but in a POD direction. I dont want to use a machine or cut outs or software to create. I want to have the POD manufacture etc… I only want to design and market only and use the POD method it with a High quality blank. All of these POD companies such as printful, printify do not offer premium blanks like the one you showed. Do you know of any POD that offer this?
If your “luxury” brand isn’t already established don’t expect everyone to care. The reason I would spend over $1000 on a Goyard bag is because the designers have a long beautiful rich history of real craftmanship in the fashion capital of the world before I was born. Cant compare yourself to real luxury designers.
Thanks for this article, it has opened my eyes to some cost cutting benefits that I didn’t realize I already had access to! I’m looking to start a streetwear brand with my 16 yr old son and I’m realizing that we do not have to start with a print on demand if we already have the Cricut cutting machine and the press as well. Thanks you’ve helped us tremendously!!
vinyl headpress bro? this is not highend my dude, this is flee market at best. if youre REALLY in a pinch this can be good for a prototype but you cant sell a garment to your customers at $80 with heat press. How many washes you think a “high end” garment can go through, with heat press lol be honest
Who cares what someone has or doesn’t have. It doesn’t make you any better than anybody else. Real or fake. It’s nobody’s business unless you’re paying their bills. I think some people are just butt hurt by the fact that they spent $5,000 on a handbag or clothes and anyone can get amzclothesthat looks identical for a few hundred bucks or less. Stop worrying about stuff that doesn’t matter.
Hey had a questions ?Why is that the cost of the garment is a 35 $ as you are using it as a 100% cotton the quality is high price and the price you are going for is great you could also get for puff print on a lighter side and add on cost would be in shipping website ads and packaging and net returns and taxes the product would be costing around 48$ per product lets say 50$ per garment which makes it as a high market garment dont you think it would be a niche market to cater and there would be so brands fighting for it ? Can you pease make a strategy article if the product is good and eventually prices a luxury affordable then how can we take the brand to a level higher ? strategy
These guys barely know what they’re talking about… The highest resolution is with a vector graphic. Period. It’s literally why it exists. PNGs hold more data than JPGs but it’s still raster based. Bella Canvas is good for gym clothes/athleasure. They are NOT a “streetwear” brand in the sense that you’re marketing them to be. Probably a sponsor, do not use them for your brand people. Lastly, transfers are NOT FOG quality. Plain and simple. The only transfers worth a damn are high quality water based ones or screen transfers. Even those aren’t on that level. These stickers are stickers. They will feel and act as such.
For those looking for an affordable way to start up and brand your products. I would say you should try screen printing. Although the cutter, heat press curing etc is more affordable in the longer term. Screen printing is less for its initial start-up cost. It is more of a learning curve but very easy once you know what you are doing. It has been a game changer for my brand. You can use waterbased or acrylic waterbased ink that requires you to just air dry!
