SSRIs, or Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, are used to treat anxiety and depression, often leading to emotional blunting. This dulling of emotions is known as emotional blunting, which can be stopped by antidepressants. Studies have found a bidirectional relationship between creativity and well-being, with well-being being found to promote creativity. Three factors shape the creative mind: creative cognition, neural systems in humans and animals, and openness to influence and experience.
Creativity is not inherent but requires honement through neuroscience. Engaging with nature, such as trees and leaves, can help improve cognitive balancing and lead to personal fulfillment and positive academic and professional outcomes. Studies suggest that bupropion, an antidepressant, could improve symptoms of IGD by improving comorbid depressive symptoms and inducing changes in brain activity.
Wellbutrin, another medication, has been shown to help with emotional regulation and impulsivity. Studies suggest that goal-directed motivation-boosting drugs like bupropion may remediate emotional blunting. However, benzodiazepines and alcohol may be counterproductive. Many people who take wellbutrin report increased creative output, often turning mental blocks into masterpieces.
Medication can often help artists better access their creativity and express their emotions more readily. Over 40 million people globally take an SSRI antidepressant, including writers and musicians. However, some studies suggest that bupropion may hinder the creative process by increasing dopamine function, enhancing the cerebral response to affective processing, and inhibiting the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine by stimulating acetylcholine, hydroxytryptamine, and gamma aminobutyric acid receptors.
📹 Depression: (The Dark Side Of Wellbutrin/Bupropion)
Major depression has afflicted humankind since time immemorial and has caused, and continues to cause, immense morbidity …
Why do I feel so good on Wellbutrin?
Wellbutrin is an atypical antidepressant that has been demonstrated to enhance the levels of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain, thereby promoting positive mood and cognitive alterations. Three subjects reported an improvement in mood and clarity. Nevertheless, JavaScript is either disabled or blocked by an extension, and your browser does not support cookies.
What makes Wellbutrin unique?
In contrast to other antidepressant medications, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), Wellbutrin has been demonstrated to have a lower propensity for inducing weight gain, sexual side effects, and somnolence. Furthermore, it possesses several advantages over other pharmacological agents. Nevertheless, it should be noted that some browsers may not support this functionality due to restrictions related to JavaScript or cookies.
Do stimulants decrease creativity?
Research on the impact of psychostimulants on creativity is limited, with fewer than a half-dozen studies examining their effects on creativity. Early studies from the 1990s did not find consistent effects on creativity when stimulants were used in ADHD. However, two recent randomized controlled trials found a decrease in divergent creative thinking in children with ADHD treated with stimulants.
When stimulants were given to healthy adults without ADHD, mixed results were found. One study showed that non-creative people saw a small gain in their creative abilities after taking Adderall, while high creatives had a modest decrease.
Researchers have also considered modafinil (Provigil), a wakefulness-promoting agent with benefits in ADHD, which has dopaminergic effects. While it improves memory, executive functioning, and subjective task enjoyment in adults without ADHD, it does not improve creative thinking and may even worsen it. In a study of 64 adults, modafinil broadly reduced divergent creative thinking.
Does Wellbutrin make you motivated?
Wellbutrin is an atypical antidepressant, specifically bupropion, which works by increasing dopamine and norepinephrine levels in the brain. It is FDA-approved to treat major depressive disorder (MDD), seasonal affective disorder (SAD), and smoking cessation. Some doctors may also use it for other mental health conditions like ADHD and bipolar depression, known as “off-label” uses. Wellbutrin may also be prescribed with other antidepressants to relieve side effects like low sex drive, drowsiness, and weight gain. These “off-label” uses are supported by sufficient evidence.
Can antidepressants affect creativity?
Bipolar medication can cause emotional blunting, a state where patients feel disconnected from the world and their creative mind. This is a common side effect of medications like antipsychotics, antidepressants, antianxiety medications, and mood stabilizers. The sedative nature of these medications can be helpful for those struggling with mental health conditions, but it can also trigger a loss of creativity.
Bipolar medication is necessary due to the connection between bipolar disorder and creativity, which is a positive trait of the condition. During periods of mania, individuals experience a widening expanse of their senses, memory, and imagination, allowing them to express exceptional creativity.
Is Wellbutrin good for overthinking?
Wellbutrin can help alleviate or reduce anxiety symptoms, particularly in individuals with depression and anxiety. It can also help maintain motivation due to anxiety. Recent research suggests that Wellbutrin may be effective for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) when traditional anxiety medications like SSRIs have not been successful. While there was once concern that Wellbutrin might increase anxiety, recent research has mostly debunked this. While anxiety is a listed side effect of Wellbutrin, it is one of the rarest side effects.
Does bupropion affect IQ?
The study analyzed the changes in clinical symptoms after 12 weeks of bupropion treatment for Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), Internet-based Gaming Disorder (ibGD), and healthy comparison subjects. At baseline, there were no significant differences in age, education years, and IQ between IGD patients, ibGD patients, and healthy comparison subjects. However, there were significant differences in BISBAS, K-ARS, and YIAS scores between the IGD and ibGD groups.
After the 12-week bupropion treatment, the BDI and K-ARS scores decreased significantly. The study suggests that bupropion treatment may be a potential treatment option for those struggling with pathologic gambling.
How does Wellbutrin affect personality?
Bupropion may cause agitation, irritability, and abnormal behaviors in some individuals, potentially leading to suicidal thoughts or depression. It is crucial to inform your doctor about any unusual side effects such as trouble sleeping, increased energy, or sudden or strong feelings. Blood pressure may also rise during use, causing headaches, dizziness, or blurred vision. If you suspect high blood pressure, call your doctor immediately.
Bupropion may also cause serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, which can be life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention. If you experience rash, itching, swelling, breathing difficulties, or chest pain, contact your doctor immediately.
Does Wellbutrin improve thinking?
Depression can negatively impact cognitive abilities, particularly concentration and focus. Wellbutrin can help mitigate these effects, leading to improved mental clarity. Patients report enhanced information processing, making problem-solving and decision-making less overwhelming. Memory recall also improves, reducing forgetfulness and frustration. These cognitive benefits are crucial for overall mental health improvement, allowing patients to engage more fully with their work, studies, and personal lives.
Does Wellbutrin flatten emotions?
The study found that while the percentage of people experiencing emotional blunting was similar across three drug classes, there were variations. 33 people experienced emotional blunting while on Wellbutrin (bupropion), while 75 experienced the same effect on Cymbalta (duloxetine hydrochloride). Wellbutrin, a dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, does not target serotonin, suggesting that inhibition of serotonin may be a primary cause of emotional blunting. Men experienced blunting more than women, and the severity of depression before treatment directly correlated with emotional blunting during treatment.
Does Wellbutrin increase happiness?
Antidepressants, including serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), have been demonstrated to elevate dopamine and norepinephrine levels in the brain, thereby supporting a brighter mood and enhancing overall wellbeing when taken in accordance with the instructions provided by a qualified healthcare professional. 📹 Wellbutrin Update 3 | What bupropion can do for you
This is how I made bupropion work for me. If you have a different story, please comment, I would love to know ♡ Disclaimer: I am …
I have history of stimulants and other drugs abuse, MDD, anhedonia, no motivation to get out of my bed. I tried snorting bupropion once (150mg tablet) and its nothing to compare with amphetamines or cocaine. High is unplesant and short acting, instead I just started to take bupropion as prescribed and this med changed my life in every aspect. No more depression, no more lack of energy and no more drugs craving. I’m on theraphy now, changed my bad habits and i feel optimistic first time from very long time.
I’ve been taking Bupropion for depression and ADHD for 3 months and it doesn’t give me any side effects. I naturally have really low blood pressure, so the fact that the drug increases it is actually beneficial for me. Previously I tried 3 different SSRIs and they all gave me emotional numbness, constant nausea, sleeping problems and lack of sex drive. I guess you just have to try antidepressants from different groups and find a good match for yourself.
I have struggled with addiction since adolescence including a coke addiction. I started Wellbutrin 6 months ago for depression. It has helped me quit smoking cigarettes and reduced my coke cravings. I am now 6 months sober and cant remember the last time i had a drug craving. This drug literally saved my life my depression is under control and i am working with an addiction counselor to help maintain sobriety. I dont think i could have done it without this med.
i personally have been suffering from post ssri sexual dysfunction (pssd) for almost a decade after a 10 month treatment with citalopram. i know many people who suffer from post ssri syndrome in a more severe form than i do, i.e. with symptoms of emotional dulling and anhedonia and cognitive dysfunction. there are young people among them who have taken a drug for all in all mild problems, and not severe depression or mental disorders. I wonder how a doctor can be honest about this and continue to prescribe these serotoninergic drugs in abundance, which are also becoming more and more widespread off-label. and how can a patient really assess the risk-benefit ratio before prescribing, as long as there is no epidemiological data to tell how widespread the risk of PSSD is and doctors continue to fail to inform before prescribing, and even to deny the harm done.
june 26th 2020 i overdosed on wellbutrin i was abusing when i couldnt find adderall from a dealer. i had back to back seizures and was intubated for 2 weeks. i was 17 then with a terrible addiction that shoudlve killed me. now im pushing 20 in a 2 weeks and im 2 years sober. its possible yall believe that
Took Wellbutrin around the start of this year and almost immediately developed severe tinnitus. I quit cold turkey after a couple of weeks but the ringing persisted. It’s been steadily improving since, but if I knew my life could be so negatively impacted by this drug I would’ve stayed far away from it. Antidepressants are often handed out as a first line treatment without even considering the patient’s lifestyle factors that could be making them depressed. After this experience I refuse to ever take psychiatric medications again.
When Wellbutrin was still an American made, non-generic drug, it was a terrific CNS stimulant and mood enhancer. It helped me work more efficiently and also to look and feel better. When the patent ran out and the generic versions were the only thing available, it was like a prescription placebo. It literally did nothing except waste your co-pay every month. I was off of it for a decade, but I recently tried it again after my daughter was murdered by her fiance. The generic Wellbutrin (bupropion) isn’t even made in the USA anymore. It’s made in India! Out of desperation I took it anyway. Within 10 days I developed chronic migraines, anger episodes, unalive ideation, and severe joint pain. I felt like I had been poisoned. I would rather be depressed than have that garbage in my body.
I have a history of opiate and amphetamine addiction.. primarily opiate… I was addicted to heroin for about 10 years and later on in there I started dabbling in amphetamines.. I am currently taking Wellbutrin after taking it for a year and a half then not taking it for a year and a half … now I’m back taking it… I wanted to come off just to see how it would go.. it went fine and it has actually reduced the amount of cigarettes I smoke from almost a pack a day to 3 a day or sometimes only 1… but I’m still an addict so that one is tuff to drop… but I am literally about as much of an addict as a human can be.. not proud just a realist and this drug has helped me in so many ways and I’ve never felt the urge to abuse it. After doing heavy drugs I honestly cannot see how this drug would ever even be worth abusing.. it’s so subtle which is what I love about it.
Took Buboprion for about 6 months and felt pretty good at first. Helped my social anxiety. One thing ive never heard doctors talk about is the possibility of the medication raising your testosterone. I was always hot and aggressive, excessive sweating and high blood pressure. When i took a testosterone lab test my test was 877. Im 38m
I just got my Bupropion HCL 150 MG filled today. Since this mediation has a black box warning. I have to meet with my Nurse Practitioner every month. I have my bottle in my hand now. I have yet to take it. I’ve heard really great things about the medication. I got it prescribed for my depression, but especially for my ADHD. I’m hoping it does great things for me. Considering I’m not hyper, but I have a difficult time focusing and concentrating on this. I procrastinate a lot. I start wayyy to many projects that I don’t finish. With my ADHD it’s like this: Imagine being in a gymnasium with hundreds of thousands post it notes on the walls. On every post it note, there are thoughts, tasks and projects listed on them. That’s what my mind is like 24/7. The projects, thoughts, ideas and advice are really great. It will definitely benefit my life and progress me further. But I just cannot even go through step one and sit down to focus. I get so distracted easily. It’s horrible. Hopefully this medication will really help me!
Bupropion worked great for me for a long time, but I still had some residual depression from seasonal changes that were hard to subside. My doctor added prozac, and for sure I became way less depressed, more energy, huge increase in memory. The side effects however, were unbearable, I was waking up earlier and earlier each morning until finally I started waking up at 2am unable to go back to sleep, shakes/chills, jaw clinching, and horrendous GI issues. After a month of this, I finally had to toss in the towel, despite it working great for my depression and anxiety. This is the concerning part, after ending the prozac, my insomnia didn’t go away, and my wellbutrin is now causing nervousness. Now I’m having to stop both… we’ll see how it goes
I have been perusal several youtube articles by various doctors on this medication and have never heard it has similar effects as cocaine (nor the various street names you list)… in high doses you state. It would be helpful if you gave a range of what might be considered a high dose. I am familar with the risks of seizures and other possible side effects. Thank you.
Doctors try to put me on Wellbutrin I had a panic episode after my ex boyfriend tried to killl me. Long story short I was out on Wellbutrin it gave me the most horrific stomach pain I’ve experienced I tried everything eating before taking it … nothing helped once I completely stopped my stomach healed . Thank god I don’t listen to doctors I am my own doctors it’s my body and I know what’s harmful and what’s not
Long story short, ever since last year I’ve had a strange feeling in my chest, shortness of breath and tingling hands. There have been 2 times in the last year where I thought I was having a heart attack and 1 of them was when I was driving. It scared the shit out of me. Went to the doctor and my EKG was good, but my blood tests say I have high cholesterol and low vitamin D. My doctor thinks this might be due to anxiety and depression (I don’t think I’m depressed) so I just got prescribed Wellbutrin and this comment section is making me nervous. Edit: still haven’t taken the Wellbutrin. Too many negative side effects
I got prescribed to Wellbutrin to help me quit smoking (I still smoke). But I stayed on it because it helped my depression A LOT!! The bad effects I get is I get irritated for small reasons.. I snap at my family; it’s like I have a shorter fuse. Also I “zone out” just stare off into space while someone’s talking to me and I’ll even say “uh huh”, “oh really?”, “Yeah”, etc.. then I snap out of it and say “sorry I zoned out, will you repeat what you were saying?” 🤦♀️ But I like it overall because it improves my mood, helps me deal with stressful situations so much better and helps my depression.
Thank you for the indepth information. I found you searching for Welbutrin side effects. It has been added in addition to an SSRI I’m taking for MDD. Initially, I felt better, but I’m still struggling terribly. I think I’m having negative side effects of brain fog & imbalance. Two falls now and a fractured wrist. I was so hopeful of this medication. 🙁
Unfortunately my experience wasn’t good. I used bupropion and noticed an initial increase in motivation, but over time It completely altered my ability to express empathy. I also became extremely combative. I could see a shift in my personality but I thought this side effect would diminish over time so I continued while it only got worse. I stopped before I lost the ability to rationally acknowledge this wasn’t my normal behavior. I’ve experienced everything from opiates to stimulant medication like phentermine that acts on the same neurotransmitters and nothing ever caused such an extreme out of control reaction like bupropion did for me. Not to say it won’t work for others, this is just a cautionary tale of my experience, since it’s supposed to be a mild antidepressant
Something I’m curious about is the most prescribed antidepressants like ssris and snris help with serotonin and norepinephrine. From what I understand sexual pleasure and energy fall under the dopamine umbrella. So do these medications indirectly help with dopamine? Now this is probably a few years down the road but it sure will be nice when we can take a blood test for dopamine and the rest of our crucial chemicals that keep us happy and everything else they do. I want to understand it more because I do know our gut is real crucial as far as serotonin and the rest of the neurotransmitters and or neurons and please forgive me if my medical is a little off
This medication immediately gave me awful unbearable side effects and the doctors kept gaslighting me that it wasn’t this medication..😢 This is what I have been experiencing (I did not experience before starting Wellbutrin) Unbearable mouth sores everyday Dry mouth, swollen tongue, jaw clenching and sore throat ‼️ Excessive sweating and heat flashes, I have to change my clothes in the middle of the night Decreased appetite and weight loss (I was already 104lbs when I started) Constipation and hemorrhoid Nightmares and Insomnia Tinnitus Eye Floaters The docs want to treat the symptoms or wait for my body to “adjust” but it’s been 3 weeks no adjustments and I’m extremely uncomfortable all the time. I rather be depressed.
Thank you for the warnings doc. Good article. I’ve been taking 150mg for about 6 months and overall it’s been positive. I have a history of drug abuse but never abused Wellbutrin (just promised myself the day I started taking it that I would never abuse it). Small hallucinations plus restlessness here and there. But significantly less thoughts about suicide, more motivation, better appetite, more creative, quit smoking, more muscle (crazy!), and seemingly getting along with others better. I’ve made lifestyle changes as well, I don’t want to glorify the drug.
20 years ago, I took Wellbutrin to try to quit smoking. It made me have intense dreams. These dreams were so real that I would have considered them memories except for the fact that I knew they were not real. 20 years later I tried Wellbutrin again, on recommendation of an md. I did not crush nor snort it lol. It sure did make make me hallucinate, though. Again, i knew the hallucinations were not real, so I just stopped taking it and told my doc.
Best medication I’ve ever tried for panic attacks anxiety. I take it along side with 400to600 l theanine. Tried quite a bit of different ssri’s . Sexual side effects are a big factor for me taking a medication . I will take this over all the others. If something ruins your sex life why would anyone want to take medication for that ?
I’ve been abusing a Wellbutrin for almost a year now I started in jail and when I got out of jail had to go into rehab as a part of it so the Wellbutrin is literally the only thing I can do and it’s not very fun it’s pretty awful most of the time the only benefit that I get out of it is that sometimes I just need a break from sobriety so when I can do that it stops me from doing dumber things like going and smoking crack or whatever but it definitely is not nearly as good as any other drug it’s pretty much the worst fucking drug on Earth
I’ve been on this for a little over 5 years. I’m currently taking 450mg. Which is the max amount. It works for now. I will say I wished I would have gotten help with my MDD and anxiety sooner. I robbed myself of living a life that could have been much more enjoyable all because of the stigma that I associated with having to be on medication.
Thank you so much for this information. I can’t find any info. online about what Wellbutrin did to me (paralysis, intense pain for months, lose of use of limb) but I understand from an urgent care visit and a quick medigoogle the practitioner did that day that muscle weakness is listed as a side effect. If I had known it had this level of impact on dopamine I would not have let the dr put me on it for one second, since I know what that does in my body.
Every substance has dark side. Water give a life or take it. We have to drink water, but if you drink a lot in short time, you may die. If you have a problem you find best solution. A solution can be everything and that solution can save one’s life and kill another one. What is good for you may not be good for the others. We all are a bit different, and that bit is the key here… a bit like a small second or milimiter or inch which sometimes is a small gap between life and death
Im curently on Duloxetine 30mg q day, while my anxiety is mild compared to others’, it is enough to affect my job. I hate how lethargic it makes me, so tired every day, i get 7-9 hours of good quality sleep, eat well and workout often. Literally feel exhausted…. I have no issues with sex, however, thr weight gain is awful. I want to talk to my PCP about trying Wellbutrin. Im tired of being tired.
I tried it last year for a few months but I didn’t notice much difference and some days I skipped it.I am feeling a little down lately even when I’m doing things I enjoy. I’m going to give it a try again with some caution. Keeping in mind that many people forget to take their Vitamins Like D, and potassium that helps with low energy levels and therefore feeling depressed. The best thing is to keep your doctor in the loop to monitor your Health situation.
I was on it a few months ago and it actually helped, but I got out of rhythm of takin it and stopped. I reverted back to my depression. I just started again last Saturday on 300mg extended release. Looking into it, I’m surprised the psychiatrist subscribed that much at once. I have that feeling like I do when I drink too much caffiegn and I’m fidgety and a bit agitated. I remember last that subsided after a week or so. I actually started running the day after I took it, and have ran every day since. I feel a lot more motivated in general. One concern I have is hair loss. I was experiencing hair loss months ago and start finasteride and minoxidol orrally, neither causes side affects and my hair is looking a lot better. Today I found out there is an association between hair loss and welbutrin, so I am worried that my previous hair loss was actually caused by the welbutrin. This is a significant side affect that I am surprised is not mentoined much. I am going to give it a couple week and see if I experiencing shedding. IF I do, I will have to reconsider welbutrin tbh.
I am having to come off Wellbutrin after 2 years of good results, now like all the rest it triggers manic episodes in my bipolar 1, and as a single mother of 4 kids with little support being even a little manic unravels everything I have built, when I was younger I would have manic episodes on their own, but now stay in a more depressed state only becoming manic with the presence of another medication. I think mania has been glorified so much that people think it is manageable and preferable to being depressed.
Been on bupropion 100mg SR for two weeks and I’m already feeling significant changes. I could relate to the “intense lethargy”, just DREADING having to do anything, whether it’s going to work or just simply taking care of myself. But like you said Wellbutrin isn’t the magic pill that makes everything better and the reason why I think it’s working so well for me even if it’s only been a couple weeks is because I’ve set myself up for success i.e. getting therapy months beforehand, started college which gave me a sense of purpose, started eating healthier and exercising, etc. All of these life changes together have helped me deal with depression a lot better, Wellbutrin is just the boost I needed to kick things off and help me be consistent.
I’ve been taking Wellbutrin a month to the day. The contrast for me is really night and day. There were numerous instances where I could have spiralled and caved but instead was able to approach calmly and logically. Yes at times my thoughts did spiral, and I did at times feel like caving in but never to the extent of before. One thing I will say: prior to taking Wellbutrin, I had tried almost every trick in the book from deep breathing, to CBT, to removing myself from stressful situations, to taking a helicopter view. They all worked to some degree but taking Wellbutrin became like a cheat code where suddenly all the above techniques became so much easier to implement.
I’m starting 150 XL tomorrow for adult ADHD -inattentive type. My Dr said it should help me focus and help with activation motivation and energy. I’m praying it helps I’ve struggled for 20+ years without medication. Some positive side effects like increased happiness and some appetite suppression would be great . Here’s hoping 🤞
… Good article with lots of information – I am glad for you that things are working out. I agree with you that you have to put some effort into it in order to succeed. I think I have been depressed for over 40 year and never even realized it – you mentioned 20 years – been through alot recently and doc says he thinks I may be suffering from depression – first I said no and later reconsiderd. The fatigue was the problem and the bed calling me all the time. First I tried lexapro and that didn’t work – in fact made things worse – now trying – day #2 on bupropion 150 XL. Too early to tell but no crazy side effects – I have my fingers crossed. Again thanks for the article and wishing you all the best 😊😇🤪😎
These types of medicine should be looked at as a tool. Something in your arsenal to get better, not a cure-all. If you want to hang a picture, you get a hammer and do the work. The hammer doesn’t hang the picture for you; it’s a tool. Couple that with practicing more awareness and what’s going on inside; it’s a great start to a healing journey.
so happy to see your great progress. You’re eyes changed greatly, more fire and light. I’m at home have similar progress and you are absolutely right, medication helps to ease the process, but the process it self is purely our work with issues by ourselfs or with the help of a specialist. Never give up on yourself
I’m glad you mentioned how we have to work. I just need my energy and damn stability to actually execute my healing process. I’m so tired all the time & can’t see anything thru. I’m hoping this Medication can be the tool I need… praying once I’m medicated that I can turn my life around within the year so I can wean off the meds
Your articles are so helpful for me. I started Wellbutrin 7 days ago. Everything you say about yourself is happening to me!!! I’ve been in so much body pain, soooo tired, exhausted really. It’s been a horrible existence for some time now. Now that I’m taking meds I have a “hammer” headache, dizzy, feeling so warm, tremors constantly. You have helped me understand the process and I appreciate that very much. Thank you. 💓
Hey I’ve been on it for about two weeks now. I’m getting pretty bad migraines and sinus pressure in my head. I’m hoping these side effects go away. Other than that, I don’t feel any different but I guess I have to wait atleast 4 weeks. I experienced a lot of childhood trauma and racism. It still gives me nightmares to this day. I’m hoping something works because some days I don’t even get out of bed.
I have the bottle filled and was supposed to start this morning. I’m scared it will worsen my anxiety. I also have long COVID, which means medications don’t work the same way they used to. I’ve struggled with depression since childhood, and I really need this medication. They started me on 150XL because my doctor was worried that SR might increase my anxiety. I just wish I knew how it would affect me.
You sound so much like me. I was prescribed 2 antidepressants. Wellbutrin was one. After awhile I got depressed knowing I was on 2 antidepressants! So i stopped the one and am on just the Wellbutrin. Thinking about going to see a psychiatrist and let them recommend a plan. I just hate taking pills. When I watch your articles it’s like im perusal myself. Hope all is well with you. Hate seeing anyone having to go through this
I can relate to the whole lethargy thingy & using sleep as an escape mechanism & how it really destroys everything else. I used to sleep around 14 hours a day constantly & the problem is yes it’s the best escape ever but I end up accumulating ton of work that I have to cram which makes more depressed & even sometimes breakdown. Tried different medications to keep me awake, they would work initially & then I develop tolerance or whatever. It was a really bad phase of my life (I’m still in it but not as intense I guess ?). Anyway started Wellbutrin 3 months ago, Idk if this is a side effect but It was giving me some emotionally traumatizing dreams intially, I kept having like the worst dreams ever (I’d wake up feeling like I wanna cry) for around 3 weeks & then they stopped (thankfully). Basically because Wellbutrin causes insomnia Im able to wake up from sleep & not feel as lethargic. Or maybe sleep like 4 hours per night & 4 hours in the middle of the day as it would interrupt my sleep if that makes sense. Actually I would wake up after 4 hours thinking like I have slept 8 hours & feel so energetic. As for the depression part I also feel so much better, I’m kind of emotionally blunted but I really dc as long as I don’t feel as bad. ofc Im gonna work on that later. Also Wellbutrin helped me cut off a significant amount of the cigs that I smoke which is a great bonus! I wish u the best & hopefully to only get better & better by time. Stay safe! Summary for anyone who’s looking into Wellbutrin, Yes it is good but not as good as you think.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I have watched all of your articles from the start and had tears in my eyes not only for your experience with depression, but for mine as well. I got a prescription for Wellbutrin about 3 months ago but I was terrified to take it due to reading people’s experiences with negative side effects. My depression and ADHD got worse over those 3 months as I wasn’t even taking my Adderall. I spiraled into a depression that I am now struggling to get out of. I usually go for a bike ride or run, but I couldn’t even bring myself to do that. I FINALLY started on the Wellbutrin yesterday and almost immediately I felt a sense of calm and order in my brain while I was working and I got all my work completed. I hope that you continue to find that the medicine and therapy are working for you and I want to encourage you to continue making articles, your voice is beautiful and calming to listen to and I think you’d have great success here in YouTube no matter what you are talking about! I also love your cat! I have 3! Sending much love from Texas! ❤️
Omg that feeling of not wanting to get up and sleep all day 🫣. I have to say that this may be unreal and maybe what I want so bad to happen but I started with one pill a day for three days as directed and I felt the change on the third day already. I felt more calm around things that would normally irritate me, and although nothings changed in my life, I just feel different and I can’t explain it. I have not gotten any side effects so 🤷♀️
