What Are The Objectives Of Early Childhood Education?

Early childhood care and education (ECCE) is crucial for promoting intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development in children from birth to age eight. The period from birth to eight years old is a remarkable brain development period, and effective early childhood educators are essential for achieving the profession’s vision of equitable learning for every young child.

There are various career goals for early childhood educators, including becoming a program director, trainer, developing readiness skills, and instilling independence and self-confidence. Some examples of goals include exploring schemas, building trust with new students, helping kids make friends and work together, working on fine and gross motor skills, and providing a learning environment that fosters positive social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development.

Preschool children should build independence and self-confidence to help them achieve other overarching goals of early childhood development. A how-to guide has been created to help educators set and achieve their professional goals in childcare with ease. The current Early Learning Goals (ELGs) are essential for children’s development and learning across domains. The curriculum specifies learning goals for children, and it is essential to support these goals in order to ensure that young children learn best when the Top 20 principles are in place and supported by education directors.

A preschool teacher plays a crucial role in shaping a child’s first experience with education. They aim to instill a love of learning and a positive view of education in children. A fun, safe environment is essential for this. Teachers can create feedback activities to gauge students’ views on their experience, peers, and education. They can set goals for students’ future perceptions at the end of the year.

Continuing education is essential for early childhood educators. They can join professional organizations, take continuing education classes, or set a timeline for obtaining an advanced degree. Teachers also focus on developing motor skills, such as tying shoes, zipging jackets, and assembling puzzles. They assess students’ performance and create improvement goals for each student.

The EYFS Profile is a tool used to assess a child’s development at the end of the Early Years Foundation (EYFS) to support their transition into year 1. It assesses outcomes in relation to 17 early learning goals across seven areas of learning. The three prime areas of learning are communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, and physical development. These areas are crucial for children’s healthy development and are the basis for successful learning in literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design.

A good level of development is defined as meeting the expected level for the 12 ELGs within the five areas of learning. In September 2021, the EYFS Profile underwent significant revisions as part of wider early education reforms.

  • Great talk! I totally agree. Even though it takes a long time in the perspective of political processes to see the result of educational initiatives, I believe they are very important. The most sustainable way of political change is certainly education and awareness-raising. And especially the implementation of the SDGs we have to do in a sustainable way. Thank you Natalie, well done!

  • Amazing well said according to me we need to first create awareness among parents, and politicians teachers are playing their role all over the world but it wont work until we change the mind sets of our parents and no doubt the people (Politicians and stakeholders) who can easily implement SDGs in educational sector. We must think and move towards action to achieve the goals.

  • This is a little Orwellian: We can teach children what goals “WE” have, and why “WE” have those goals, then we can teach kids what rights “THEY” have to voice “THEIR opinions” (which we just gave them). It sounds a lot like early indoctrination into a particular agenda, mixed with an encouragement towards activism. No teacher has a right to do this without parental consent.
