The Reason Sara Didn’T Take A Maternity Break?

Paid parental leave (PPL) is a type of leave used after an employee assumes a “parental” role for a child following the birth of the employee’s child or placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care. The $1.8 trillion domestic-policy bill that’s making its way through Congress initially planned to include funding for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave, but the US is the only rich nation offering no national paid parental-leave program. Maternity leave in the US has always been worse than in other wealthy countries, having never had paid maternity leave. It hasn’t changed since 1993, when a woman learned she didn’t qualify for paid leave and took unpaid leave and used up some savings to stay home to recover.

The lack of paid paternity leave is one crucial factor at play, along with traditional gender norms and stigma against male caregivers. The only federal law guaranteeing maternity is the one by state. Dragons’ Den star Sarah Willingham has revealed she never took maternity leave and would breastfeed her children in meetings. Sara Björk Gunnarsdottir, 32, stopped playing in March 2021 because of her pregnancy, which she publicly announced a month later but Lyon did not pay her.

Sara Vickers on making Guilt, saying goodbye to her Endeavour character Joan, filming 6 weeks after giving birth, and more! Haines said adjusting to life with a newborn is “easier this time” compared to when she and her husband welcomed their first child Alec Richard. A labor case was raised before the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber, which Sara won.

After almost a year on maternity leave, it’s great to be back at @GlobalBC—and filling in for @jarmstrongbc, as he spends time with his family.

Employees who become pregnant during maternity leave are entitled to an additional 52 weeks of leave. However, they cannot start their next leave until the 11th week before their baby is due. If their first leave ends before this, they must return to work until the 11th week, consider taking another type of leave (such as holiday leave), or employ someone else to do the work (‘maternity cover’) while the employee is on maternity leave. The employer must decide if this is possible and provide the correct notice.

Maternity leave can be started any day from 11 weeks before the due date, with the start earlier if the baby comes early or if you work more hours than your employer. You have the right to take up to a year of leave, regardless of your employer’s tenure, pay, or work hours. Maternity leave is separate from maternity pay, with different rules for eligibility. California has its own paid family leave program, the first in the nation. Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill to raise the amount of money workers receive under the state’s paid family and medical leave program. Starting in 2025, the state will pay up to 90 in wage replacement for all new parents and those who need to take time off to care for a seriously ill relative, starting at 60-70.

  • I worked in a very high-end, luxurious resort when this show was still on the air. One of the episodes was actually filmed at the resort. I got to meet the entire cast and crew which was truly exciting for me because S&TC was my favorite show. From what I observed I don’t think any of them were very good friends. They were colleagues and they acted like colleagues, but certainly not like good friends. I am sure that all four of the ladies had their own take on their interaction with each other and I doubt that any of them is lying about the other.

  • Oh the SATC drama… Kim Cattrall has been saying “NO” to the sequel of Samantha Jones since 2016. So the whole rumor abt her being a diva or holding up production is completely false. She’s 61 & is in a different place. I totally respect her decision but would have killed to see her in another sequel. Love her!!

  • As someone who was bullied occasionally by her own friends all through high school (gaslighting, not being invited to parties, being made to do their homework), I can see how this happens so easily. I bet none of my “friends” would say that is how they treated me, but that is how I experienced it. Our perception of ourselves and our actions can be different to those who experience it. I was stuck in that situation so didn’t change it, didn’t speak up due to too much continuous trauma of having been through it, low self-esteem, etc. I didn’t keep in touch with these friends after high school. I can see how this can happen with colleagues on a set like SATC, and I think SJP could have handled the criticism better (private conversations for example – perhaps that happened – but if she just straight up denied the allegations, and gaslit, then well, of course Kim would walk away with a big fuck you).

  • After perusal several interviews of both Kim and SJP I’ve concluded that SJP is not the nice person she portrays in public Sarah has always played the poor victim, someone who may react passive aggressively to try to look like the innocent one Kim is the strong respectful person who is comfortable with her age and is very intelligent and assertive. Kim has even published a book for young girls in learning self confidence. Kim is childless by choice which I believe is a very selfless act as she has said it’s no way to have children when you’re working long hours. I have a coworker who is like SJP who is very selfish but on outward appearance she appears concerned for others and always playing the victim. SJP is very good at branding her good girl image by choosing a pre-vetted interview with a friend. And like the rest of the commenters have said, SJP should not be shocked unless they’ve kept in contact outside of work. Good acting SJP.

  • I think for Kim to say she could have been a lot nicer says it all. There is no way it was an isolated incident- it must have been years of feeling mistreated. Refusing to acknowledge it is the reason it hasn’t been resolved. Let’s figure this out people and bring our favorite girl back on the show where she belongs. 💜

  • I seem to remember, before the deal was in place for the 2nd movie, Kristin Davis went on an interview and threw “shade” at Kim Catrall, saying “the 2nd movie would be happening sooner if it weren’t for someone being so stubborn.” That was Catrall not wanting to do the sequel, but instead of hashing it out with her, her own castmate decided to throw shade at her in public. I got the impression back then that was a common occurence between the women, with Catrall getting the beating. I think, out of all of them, Cynthia Nixon is the most level-headed.

  • Everybody has another definition of “friend”. I also know a lot of people and our relationship is personal, but I wouldn’t call them friends. I have had a lot of colleagues and we had a very friendly relationship and we talked about personal stuff, because we spend a lot of time together at work, but they were not my friends. I have just a handfull of real friends, which are like my family. But I also know people who call around 500 persons their friends. People should grow up and realize that being friendly, even over years, is not the same as friendship.

  • Sjp has ALWAYS been a mean girl and fake. People on set knew how she made the story writers make digs at samanthas character. And focusing on her age. AND making her the one to hve cancer so kim worried about her future on the show. She had a lot of people wrapped around her thumb. Kim is the classy one here she didn’t resort to those tactics.

  • Well, something is not right here. Two women worked together for six (or more?) years. Today, one of them says they were never friends just colleagues and the other one claims to be heartbroken over this statement. Something has happened between those two. And the one who pretends to be shocked and surprised (SJP) is usually the one to blame. To me, it is so obvious that Sarah Jessica prefers to maintain her “clean” public persona and maybe she is being smarter than Kim. On the other hand, Kim is in pain because of the recent loss of her brother and in such a state of mind people don’t care about being politically correct. Sometimes, grief makes you harsh. I understand her. I really hope she won’t regret revealing too much of her thoughts. People, especially fans, tend to be less understanding. My condolences to her family for this tragic loss.

  • Why are people so obsessed with the idea that women who work together should be ‘friends’ at all? There are so many tabloid stories about relationships between female cast members – whether they are close, or ‘bitchy’ etc – that you don’t see at all about male co-stars. What’s wrong with saying they just had a professional relationship? It doesn’t diminish the series.

  • Great series. All of them played their parts well and stayed in character. So many sweet moments and dramatic ones too, but especially the funny bits kept this show ticking over nicely. The clothes, the shoes, the hairstyles and life in Manhatten all had us enchanted at the time. I loved all of those women.

  • Kim is a wonderful ambassador for womanhood. Whilst SJP is an icon for little girls. I did like SJP but she’s too airy with no real substance in her interviews. Lots of words without really saying anything… as if she’s just portraying an image or persona. Kim Cattrail? Now she does have substance. She’s far more interesting, classy and genuine with a wonderful intellect. She may be different from Samantha but she’s just as phenomenal. Kim does look younger than SJP and more natural and attractive.

  • It’s funny how so many people instantly believe Kim. But everyone that worked on set, that was asked about it, all sided with SJP. I believe the people who witnessed it everyday. I don’t doubt that SJP was probably pushy, but it’s because she took her job seriously. Male actors have completely blown up on crew members, cursing them out and throwing huge temper tantrums. Yet, no one demonizes them.

  • Here’s the thing, I had Frenemies at work. I couldn’t stand them and when I was invited to one of their wedding, I was shocked and declined in a scathing RSVP. She wrote back and was confused and sorry. That’s when I had to sit back and think ” how much mistreatment did I allow?”. Did I not stick up for myself? If it was that bad, I should’ve put a stop to it immediately or spoke with HQ. What I’m saying is, you can be a silent partner in your own victimization.

  • I think the dynamic between the two didn’t work. I think SJP is holding something back. Kim Cattrall shouldn’t have said what she said on Twitter. It made her look really bad. I don’t care who you are, you don’t talk to a “colleague” like that. I think whatever went down hurt them both equally. Out of the two I think Kim is more forthcoming with her feelings and SJP is trying to protect herself and her reputation. On that show, I never felt a chemistry between those two ladies. I thought Sarah Jessica Parker had great chemistry with Cynthia Nixon but that’s it.

  • Ok. I watched Piers Morgan’s Life Stories with Kim. The way she explained in great detail about how SJP behaved is really bloody difficult to dispute. Piers prompted her on the whole thing & she rightly gave an articulated answer that you could tell is genuine but also as honest as any human being can be…. The way SJP is behaving in this interview is purely to ‘save face’ along with whatever reputation she is trying to cling on too & what makes it even more obvious is her silences in her response, they speak louder than any words. Ever. I truly think Kim was telling us who the real SJP is & she only came on here to cover herself. That’s the only vibe I get.

  • I will always believe Kim. Having said that, I recall that when Kim won the Golden Globe, she thanked SJP and said “the great SJP”. Also, about the cast, she said they were three wonderful women and that Cynthia Nixon was “her heart”. She dedicated the award to the three girls but to SJP first. So, although I believe Kim, I also see truth in both sides of the story.

  • in the first seasons it is very noticeable how Sarah and Kim constantly touch each other in the frame. If they go somewhere, they touch their shoulders, touch their hands, hit each other when they laugh. This is impossible if people do not like each other. Yes, you will smile and play well, but definitely NOT want to TOUCH this person. They had it! I think that their relationship is much more complicated than what we will see. Maybe they were once very close, but one of them broke the heart of the other

  • I feel like Sarah stabbed Kim Cattrall in the back somewhere down the road. If I remember correctly they DID get along quite well while they were filming the show. I find it hard to believe that it was all some sort of an act from the get go. Sarah obviously did something cruel and shady but she won’t admit to that because she doesn’t wanna come off that way to the media. Kim is just mature and doesn’t have to say anything other than the fact that they aren’t friends. There is wayyyy more to the story.

  • i LOVE both of them… Kim wanted it as 25% of ALL 4 women’s lives… SJP wanted it Carrie’s life & 3 friends to play 2nd fiddle. THAT WAS THE TUG OF WAR FOR YEARS equal light vs. Carrie #1 and other ladies #2 SJP is not a fake or liar when she stutters or loses her thought she has ADHD, as does Wendy Williams (it is VERY apparent in all SJP interviews)…. i believe Kim a bit more, but love SJP. it all spun out of control: Kristen & Cynthia were ok being #2 to a #1… Kim wanted it EQUAL, 25% credit for all 4 characters

  • I believe her. She sounds authentic. She’s trying to give an answer without throwing Kim under the bus. If you’ve ever been in a situation where you had to be extremely political…whether at work or in your social circle, then you should understand the difficulty of that type of question. Give her grace. She is taking the emotion out of it, while Kim’s comments did not.

  • I feel this situation between these two will never get resolved. It’s sad but you will come across people in life… they will come and go. I’ve lost friends over the years not out of choice it just happened. I’ve worked with people that I’ve wanted to be close to but i was not. You do not have to get on with everyone you work with.

  • SJP was caught off-guard because she never expected Kim to publicly state the truth. That’s why I believe Kim. SJP probably thought Kim would be under the thumb of the franchise and never risk her position by calling someone out. Lol Yet Kim eventually said, “Let’s stop beating a dead horse and call the franchise done already.”

  • No one ever said they were great friends or BFF’s. The only person SJP has ever claimed to be that close to offscreen was the recently departed Willie Garson. What they have all said (except for Kim) is that they enjoyed working with one another. Kim is entitled to the view of SJP that is real for her. In a production, as in life, you will have two people who don’t click. But just because Kim did not click with SJP doesn’t mean SJP felt the same way about her and I believe she is genuinely confused about Kim’s take because it is with such vitriol that literally no one else on cast (including the two other main characters) agree with. The way Kim has talked it is as if SJP was a cruel person who did things to intentionally hurt her and if it were that glaringly obvious, SOMEONE else on cast or crew would have lent some sort of validation of her claims slip through. We have never heard anything of the sort. So Kim’s perspective is valid for her, but it doesn’t make it objectively true and so people hating on SJP because of literally ONE person’s view makes no sense. I watched the show for the dynamic of all characters (even though I don’t like Carrie’s character). Actually, Samantha was my least fave character, but as a character, they all had a role in the show, but of course as EP, SJP should and did make more and she was the focal character. It was told through her eyes. It was not like “Friends” where there really wasn’t an actual focal character. Kim seems like a hateful and cold person, honestly, and she turned me OFF with her behavior.

  • These comments bashing SJP are unjustifiable. It’s not that she couldnt give a straight answer but it was more like she was hurt by what Kim said because she thought her experience with working together for all those years they had formed a bond and to learn that Kim felt a different way was most upsetting and she was truly hurt. SJP is not a phony unkind person at all. Kim was angry with SJP because she said she could’ve been kinder or nicer because she made demands on the show that they would not support and she thought SaraJ. could have been kinder and influence the executive producers to give in to her demands and they would not so she got angry at all of them. Diva Kim versus Professional SarahJ.Parker. She is a wonderful woman and everyone on that show stood up for her when this all went down. If my worst enemy extended their condolences to me If I lost a brother or sister I could never tell them I don’t need their sympathy and stop trying to look good to the public. That was just pure ignorance to me. In the end they wind up doing it without her. I’m sad about that but that’s life.

  • Look at her body language, The way she shift her weight, and the way she looks around the room for answers. Kim Cattrall was always direct and succinct in her responses, SJP has Liar written all over her. I believe that they did have a healthy working relationship, but I believe that it all ended when Kim Cattrall said no and then began to be bullied by everyone else to say yes. They knew that Samantha Jones was the reason everyone watched the show, and losing her would cause a large fan base to drop off. They were right, I have not watched the reboot of the show because I do not support bullies. I extend to Kim Cattrall the absolute best and my warmest wishes to her moving forward. She doesn’t need this BS in her life.

  • I want to believe Sarah but the way she answers looks really ingenuine. The blinking and looking away and pouting and handclapping… clearly you’re not saying what you’re actually thinking and your body is trying to tell a different story. I do think it doesn’t help for Kim to fuel the fire, you can just ignore shitty people, too… you only have to call them out once or twice. Her snapping back when SJP sent her condolences probably doesn’t help her case… but Sarah definitely seems very dishonest.

  • I really don’t like this response because she’s proving Kim’s point that she’s playing the victim and she’s trying to be nice and you can tell she’s not nice. And that one comment where she says I saw it differently than hers doesn’t very narcissistic, to make and it just she’s lying. But honestly can’t response was sincere because people do change and you’re working so you don’t want to make it any more difficult than it should have. And she was straight out with Piers Morgan & Morgan honestly didn’t think she was lying so you could tell she was genuinely hurt for over the years I think she has every right to cut some people wants you to make it seem like it’s always been your fault and I think Sarah is very narcissistic in my opinion but I don’t know her

  • I’ve met Kim Catrall IRL and she was so sweet and soft spoken and genuinely seemed interested in our interaction even though I’m a nobody. Everything Kim said about 🐎SJP was true, I can just feel it. You can tell that JSPeepee walked around the set like she owned it and was crazy jealous that Kim resonates with people more. There’s something very contrived and fake about her.

  • Let me pose a question: Let’s say you work for a company for 10 years (or work on a TV show for the same amount of time), and then leave. Five years LATER, do you keep in touch with EVERY SINGLE PERSON you worked with in that 10 years because you’re close personal friends for life ? Do you go to their weddings, graduations, housewarmings ? Do you know all of their spouses/kids/parents names ? What is everyone of those people doing right now ? Where they live, their phone numbers, etc. ? Interviews like this make it sound that if you don’t ‘know the answer to these questions – you’re somehow a bad person. They worked together and were colleagues – and then moved on.

  • The fact that SJP was getting 3 million an episode at the end and the rest were only getting $300,000 speaks volumes. The fact that SJP was executive producing and the scripts would give two seconds of seriousness to the other women before Carrie would chime in demanding they talk about whatever frivolous thing was going on in her life that day for the rest of the scene speaks volumes. SJP might have thought they were friends, but that was probably due to her blinders being on.

  • I love Kim always have, she should’ve been the star of the show but to me she totally was. I did not like SJP character Carrie that much. She was toxic and always living in a fantasy world. Not that looks define a nice person but SJP hasn’t aged well at all . Really looking very haggard here lol . But I do like the way she speaks she articulates so well. Her style will always be legendary but that’s about it . Kim is an incredible actress and all together straight up person who wouldn’t make up this beef they had over nothing. I def think SJP and the others threw major shade at Kim of camera. She’s just so damn amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • I generally like SJP as an actress, but I feel she is wrong on this one. Judging by some of her arguments like this one it’s hard to believe Kim would make things up. Just because you work with somebody for years, doesn’t mean you have to ultimately become friends. Through all of my jobs I only made one real friend, the rest were just colleagues even if some of them happened to be “nice” and I enjoyed working with them. Plus SJP’s words sound very much like gaslighting.

  • If you have worked together for decades, could you be at least nicer and not throw that shade directly in public. I mean that reaction to condolence is such a childish thing. I am a no SJP fan but man, and I dont think she is a nice person either but shading people who worked with you for decades like that.

  • I just don’t see the need for a third film. I love SATC. Own the collection of DVDs. Could not possibly think how they would go about a third film. I don’t think they need Kim to even make a 3rd one, cut her out. Tell a story of what happened and that’s that. SJP knows the third movie wouldn’t work out in the theaters unless Samantha was involved so I guess the next move is to stir the pot.

  • I knew a person once, a coworker, who couldn’t get along with anyone even though everyone tried. She’d had trouble at her last job and was convinced everyone was out to get her at ours. She consistently threw people under the bus. She got one person fired and another person transferred. Neither of them deserved it. I was there for the “incident,” that resulted in said consequences. She couldn’t get along with anyone but she was sure it was everyone else’s fault for not getting along with her. She was able to convince our boss too. For a while. Her reign eventually came to an end.

  • Kim did love / remember the work fondly, she just didn’t love or remember her co-workers fondly and there is nothing wrong with that. That SJP doesn’t want to even remotely acknowledge that there was tension on the set and gets so defensive is telling. She was probably the mean girl and doesn’t want to cop to it.

  • Rumour has it that when SJP was invited to become a producer of the show, Kim expected to be asked too, but it never happened. I wonder if by saying ”SJP could have been nicer”, Kim meant that Sarah could have got the heads of the network to have her (and perhaps the other girls) become a producer too.

  • It’s funny how sarah shows disappointment whilst saying she and kim were friends, whereas kim has blank out said they were all just colleagues and the only thing all the SATC girls had in common was the show. Anybody can say to me at this point that you sound like you know them both personally, blah blah blah, but I believe kim for saying something so relateable and believable as saying they were just colleagues and not friends, as how many of us are actually friends with our co-workers? It is the same with actors. They have co-workers, and new ones all the time, and they aren’t going to be friends with their co-workers just like us non-actors aren’t friends with our co-workers. I also agree with the person here who commented that sarah is just being passive-aggressive and playing victim by claiming they were both friends, and acting like kim is the one who is treating her wrong. It makes sjp sound unbelievable.

  • It’s all about MONEY. SJP had certain rights to the cash and Cattrall was pissed that she was milking more for herself much like Mary Wilson of the Supremes accused Diana Ross of doing. Apparently millions were given for product endorsements into the movie ..such as the SHOES …with the product owners sending millions to SJP while Cattrall modeled the stuff in the films. She is mad as hell that she was USED to lather the bank accounts of SJP and got NOTHING $$$$ extra for herself. MONEY MONEY MONEY$$$$$$

  • I absolutely loved SATC used to watch every episode with my girls KIM was my favourite omg loved her she was the STAR of that show I believe sjp did mistreat Kim sjp WAS DESPERATE for another movie she knew it couldn’t be done without Kim as she was THE STAR Kim said no sjp probably got a wee touch of karma LOVE KIM omg what a beauty inside and out ❤️

  • My sense, from numerous SJP interviews, is she’s a people pleaser and avoids stepping on people’s toes. I can’t figure out what the hell she did to Kim, it must have been insidious and indirect and involved her minions. In the alternative, she tried to be Kim’s friend and Kim just refused. Other than Kim I haven’t heard of others having beef with SJP.

  • I believe people who look like they’re trying to be utterly candid. Kim Cattrall was trying her best to be completely honest. SJP is being evasive here. She knows if she lies to make Kim look bad, Kim will be utterly candid again. We also have upbringing to consider here. Kim’s mom is a Liverpudlian. They tell it like it is but they’re fair, and that is exactly how Kim conducted herself in this situation.

  • I’d like to imagine SATC without Samantha Jones, PR…… I can’t. I try to imagine the series without any of the other three characters… Yep, I just could. Sarah got housands of award for “comedic” merits if you please but it was Samantha who stole our hearts – male and female alike. As for the actresses… the body language and the answers provided by both of the women say it all.

  • “That’s not how I recall our experience.” lol If you’ve ever endured a narcissist, her verbiage throughout this article probably triggered you too. Kim kept it classy all those years and spared SJP until she went too far with the disingenuous condolences, yet she’s still trying to play innocent & distraught. Girl…gon’.

  • Sarah Jessica Parker answer the question saying that she was heartbroken and that was her reaction to What Kim was saying. The honest truth if you pay very close attention to this interview and Kim’s interview you’ll find a likeness in the fact that they both have to be very careful with what they say because in that industry that is what you have to do otherwise you can get in trouble for saying too much there are actually a lot of things that are not allowed to be said and that’s what the public will never understand unless you are someone who works in the industry you just won’t understand. Since I do work in the industry I can tell you that people get into a lot of trouble saying certain things and that’s why you see a lot of problems with musicians and certain artists colliding with each other because some of them don’t care and some of them do a lot of times actors especially older actors will be more careful with what they say and don’t say.

  • Contrary to public opinion, I couldn’t stand Kim’s nasty character on SATC and was glad to see she wasn’t returning. I was an avid fan of SJP and rooted for her and Big to live happily ever after. Now? What can I tell you? I’m disgusted and saddened by so much this happened. I will continue to watch “And Just Like That” to the finish, but only because of my admiration & love of SJP.

  • I hope Sarah Jessica did something really bad, because Kim is nasty to her! As a diehard SATC fan, this breaks my heart. Their friendship was so real. I don;t know what happened, so it’s hard for me to criticize, but life is WAY TOO SHORT NOT TO WANT TO FIX THIS RELATIONSHIP, AND I BELIEVE THAT KIM NEEDS TO GET OVER HERSELF AND FORGIVE SJP! THE FRIENDSHIP SHOULD MEAN MORE TO KIM. IT DID TO sARAH.

  • I’m still really annoyed they even did and just like that without Kim. She needed to be on the show it felt empty without her. They shouldn’t have done the show. She was on of the lead characters and there only being three friends on the show was annoying. Also, I didn’t like and just like that because of how the characters were portrayed. Carrie didn’t seem so upset that big died, Charlotte just seemed desperate and Miranda was the worst character apart from Che on the show. A bad experience.

  • Carrie Bradshaw is the LEAST interesting woman on the show, she’s shallow, needy, cheesy and, well, ultimately stupid. She basically does the same mistakes all over again. What a poor image of the “modern” woman that the show seemed to mirror … To me, the interesting ones were Samantha and Miranda. Those two were actually modern, smart and independent women.

  • I love SJP but she was really a mean girl to Kim in the past. Back in the 90’s, it has been said that the girls and crew would all sit together and have lunch and stuff without inviting Kim. By season 2, SJP gets EP credit and she’s the only one whos never done a nude scene. Kim has also said in the past that they are ” professional co workers ” and she’s just calling out SJP’s fakeness

  • Kim threw shade at all cast, but especially at Sarah. Kristin, Cynthia and Sarah are still in touch except Kim. When asked about Cynthia running for governor, said “respect and support … former colleague’s …. choices”, while Sarah and Kristin gave her full support. Kim doesn’t like these girls and I think that’s her issue. Even something happenned in the past, draging out it and talking shit after years is pathetic.

  • SJP has always comes off as disingenuous and phony to me. Always trying to come off as the “good guy” when in reality she is NOT. If you know you don’t get along with someone….why in the blue hell would you wait until their brother dies and then make a public spectacle about “sending condolences”?? That is NOT the time to genuinely reach out to someone you don’t get along with….and especially not in a public fashion

  • Im not taking sides kinda odd to cause i dont know them personally but i dont know why kim had to call out SJP so horribly like that..ive experienced the loss of losing someone i really loved and trust me i really appreciated ppl conveying their sympathy to me…even frm ppl i dont know..what could SJP have done?? Im sure SJP honestly felt really sad for kim…i just think that for kim to call her out like that was mean and so uncalled for..and to do it so publicly as well..n the fact that SJP is not saying much doesnt make her a bad person she just probably doesnt wanna say it in public

  • I have family who are similar to SJP… similar public woes of victimhood and wondering where and why their relationship is bad or why the other sees their relationship a different way. It’s difficult to understand, especially when you’re a selfish person and cannot consider how your words or actions can hurt someone. Its very difficult to understand as well if you think your relationship with someone is friendly but they see it as professional or distant compared to the other relationships they have. It seems like these two women are so different in their interactions with their friends and co-workers. I see myself siding with Kim a lot because I personally don’t see a lot of my co-workers as friends, but I know a lot of people who would be in SJP’s position too. I think it comes down to people who operate on a shallow level vs. a deeper level. SJP seems shallow and like she can have those friendships and be satisfied, Kim on the other hand, seems like she needs deep friendships and personal connection in order to call someone a friend or loved one. Im with her on that one. The main thing wrong here is that it seems kim has been bothered to play her part again after clearly stating she doesn’t want to. That’s a breech of boundaries and people get pissed when you try to overstep a hard boundary that they’ve made. It seems like Kim’s boundaries aren’t being respected and the social media thing was the last straw for her. I don’t think she should have done it, but I think anybody would have done the same thing if they kept feeling pushed to say yes when they said no multiple times.

  • I don’t feel SJP is a mean or malicious person and I believe Kim would say the same thing. Now back then did they not get along, maybe did SJP feel threatened in her career with Kim who knows! We weren’t their! What I do know is not every woman gets along but it’s not for us to pin one against the other. I deeply adore both of them for different reasons!

  • I just bet Kim had her reasons. I could see SJP (whom I love) being a little bit bratty. Plus Kim said the other three often left her out. And SJP thought that was okay? Good for Kim for hanging in there. Plus SJP would never do nude scenes but Kim had to? Seems pretty unfair. A pretty big double standard among women!

  • And Cohen is messy … and what a liar both are. You all have to watch the woman who runs the Real Housewives website who interviewed a costumer from SATC and first movie. He was not bashing SJP but basically said that SJP was jealous of KC during the early years of SATC. When she got control of the show, SJP basically started being nasty.towards KC. The reboot sucks.

  • well when SJP has a 10 million income from a potential movie and “suddenly” an obviously better actress that does specifically theater performances the last years says no, of course sjp is mad, and its so obvious the jealousy, in terms of beauty, acting… its very clear who has class and who hasnt….. sorry sjp, but kim is way more talented

  • SJP should stop 𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚐 with her response here and 𝚛𝚎𝚒𝚗 in her victimhood. I believe Kim when she says SJP was a nigh𝚖𝚊𝚛𝚎 to work with. They need to put those movies out 𝚝𝚘 𝚙𝚊𝚜𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚎 – no one wants to see those old ladies 𝚑𝚘𝚛𝚜𝚒𝚗𝚐 around. 🐎Sarah’s jealous Kim is the fan fav

  • The only other celebrity I’ve heard say bad things about SJP is Kim so you can take what she says with a grain of salt. Not saying her feelings and experiences with SJP are not valid but somehow I feel it’s rather hypocritical especially since before she only had nice things to say as well. I think it had more to do with SJP’s role as EP on the show and how Kim felt slighted that the other ladies did not get the same control and power on the show and the subsequent movies. But again, Cynthia and Kristin were ok with the set up although we have to remember Kim has more seniority over the 3.

  • A film shooting set is just the same as any other workplace, you can here to work not to make friends. It’s true that sometimes it just happens that you become friends with one colleague of yours or two, but that’s just an unexpected add-on. You can be friendly with each other, but you don’t have to be friends. There’s one time I had an interview with a company and was told that they had a very chill working environment and everyone there were friends. I turned the offer down. Because it is a workplace, it needs hierarchy, people must take responsibilities and be professional.

  • Judging by the fact that SJP slipped out that Andy Cohen and she ‘talked’ about the incident beforehand, I don’t think this clip/this episode could have been neutral about SJP (and pretty much all the other casts) not being nice to Kim Cattrall. It honestly is so sad how I couldn’t watch SATC ever since I heard about this incident. It just breaks my heart seeing Samantha in it. Also with the fact that she shows her body parts (including her pubic hair) more and more throughout the season and Sarah Jessica Parker don’t even show one of her boobs.

  • Sarah is able to say we all got on and push the nice girl narrative because she wasn’t the one affected. She wasn’t treated like crap, wasn’t excluded, wasn’t paid less so she can say them things over and over. Kim suffered, whether she came to terms with it then or more recently is up to her. Leave her alone like she wants to be and stop using her to paint ur narrative. It ain’t fair. If what kim said she went thro is true then sarah is a horrible person so let kim live her life now

  • I don’t know. Kim Cattrall is always saying very loose words on how SJP could’ve been nicer, that they were never friends, that all the people from S&C treat her like a bad person and so on….but in the end, to me, she always seems to be the one doing all the over sensitive whinning and never gets to the point of saying exactly what is this awful thing that SJP and the rest of the cast could’ve done better for her. Like, really…

  • There have been zillions of reports over the years and neither of them has come off very well as a result. I don’t look at the show and think they must be best friends just because they worked together. I have co-workers for 6 years now that I still hate and others I love. What will happen when I leave? Who knows. I have heard that Kim has caused trouble and I have heard that SJP hasn’t been anything more than Queen Bee. I will say it is nice that SJP didn’t “slam back” at her in this article. She could have easily done so and escalated the situation. We don’t know the truth so I will stick to just loving the show and them and leave it at that. They aren’t coming over for dinner so…

  • I think that we should Not judge and hate Kim or Sarah because that is a personal thing between them both. I think there are different perspectives of this. Stop hating or even choosing a Side thats actually Something We can do to pay them some respect, especially when thinking about what Beautiful uplifting series they have made for us.
