Iowa homeschooling laws provide a comprehensive overview of the options available to families for homeschooling. There are five legal options, with school required for children aged 6-16. Homeschoolers are exempt from state-set diploma requirements and can set and enforce graduation standards within their homeschool program.

To ensure compliance, Iowa homeschoolers must provide a report containing homeschool location, names of students, primary instructor, and name of the authority responsible for. Public schools in Iowa must provide the option for dual enrollment. All children ages 7-15 are required to receive educational instruction.

In Iowa, all children ages 7-17 must attend a public or nonpublic (private) school. Three forms of annual assessment results are acceptable under Iowa law: Standardized Testing Results Report, Portfolio Evaluation Report, and Accredited Report.

The Illinois State Board of Education does not provide recommendations for materials or assistance with planning a home school curriculum. However, the Iowa homeschooling law allows parents to choose one of several options. Home school students are not required to take Colorado’s standardized tests, but they may request assistance from their local school.
