Methods For Dying Mixed-Denim?

To dye jeans, weigh them, wash them, and squeeze out excess water. Fill a bucket or sink with 2 to 3 gallons of hot water and add the required amount of dye. Submerge the jeans for 30-60 minutes, stirring to coat the fabric evenly. For the darkest color possible, use the whole package. Follow the instructions provided with the dye product to ensure accurate dye mixing. Use the recommended dye-to-water ratio and thoroughly mix the dye solution.

In this guide, two easy and practical ways to dye denim at home are provided. First, wash the jeans, then apply a color remover if needed and wash them again. In a large pot, bring enough water to cover the jeans and bring it to a boil. Mix in black dye.

To refresh faded jeans, remove any visible stains on the jeans and prewash them in warm, soapy water without any residue. Place the dye into a plastic cup and add hot water gradually, mixing until it becomes a paste and then a liquid. Preparing the fabric is essential before dyeing. Wash brand new jeans to remove any sizing and completely soak the jeans with water immediately before dyeing. If using powdered dye, mix it with 1 cup of hot water first. Use twice as much dye for darker colors.

Soak the jeans completely and make sure every inch is wet. Remove them briefly and mix 1 packet navy blue RIT dye, 1/2 packet black RIT dye, and hot water in a 5-gallon bucket. Get the jeans wet, wring them out, and dunk them in the bucket.
