What method is used in distance learning?

Distance education relies on interactive telecommunications, such as email and traditional forms of communication, to connect individuals within a learning group and with teachers. As communication systems become more sophisticated and widely available, distance learning has experienced rapid growth. It establishes a learning community, consisting of students, teachers, and instructional resources like books, audio, video, and graphic displays. Social networking on the internet promotes community building, allowing users to construct profiles and build new communities of like-minded individuals.

Religious correspondence education in the 19th century was spurred by geographical isolation from schools and dispersed religious congregations. The Chautauqua Lake Sunday School Assembly in western New York state began in 1874 as a program for training Sunday school teachers and church workers. It expanded to include a nondenominational course of directed home reading and correspondence study, leading to the founding of many similar schools throughout the United States in the chautauqua movement. Overall, interaction is essential for distance education, as it reduces dependence on physical proximity and promotes community building.

It involves seven steps: determining and visualizing the learning objective, collecting and structuring learning material, dividing into smaller units, finding the right learning method, estimating effort, creating a schedule, motivating, and reflecting. This plan can help students avoid procrastination and last-minute studying, ensuring they have a well-thought-out approach to studying.

Ensure the goals are realistic and relevant to avoid stress during the learning phase. • James! I feel so excited knowing you’re just down the street from me! Thanks for sharing this idea of the calendar and the Google Slides. My team and I were brainstorming about what to do since there is a high possibility for technology issues Day 1 just like so many of the surrounding districts who’ve started experienced. So from what I saw, I gather that ALL your docs, assignments, etc in BLEND are embedded from Google Slides – you just linked to your Google Slides? My 5th grade team and I are trying to be as efficient as possible and having one team BLEND course is filling up the “pages”, “modules”, “assignments” etc.. We have just a few days left to get this ready!

  • We just went back into lockdown in NZ for 3 weeks and it sucked. I really feel for US teachers looking at a whole half year or year online. I teach four different classes and it’s a whole ton of work – just the grading alone is so much more than I do at school because it takes the place of the face-to-face in the moment feedback you do as part of teaching a normal class.

  • You’re fantastic and I’m so grateful that you posted! We went back this week and the kids start Sept 15th and it’s a mess. This whole week was essentially dept meetings brainstorming to make hybrid work safely (although it doesn’t…). There are so many unanswered questions still. I wish you the best this year!!!
