Black booties can be worn in various ways, including with dark wash jeans and a dress coat, black bootie outfits with black jeans and a striped tee, black bootie outfits for work with a nice top and dress pants, and black ankle boots outfits with a leather jacket, hoodie, and leggings. These boots have a flat heel and memory foam insoles, making them comfortable to wear with various outfits.
To offset the casual feel of hiking, work, or ankle-high combat boots, consider pairing them with luxurious layers of silk or satin, and wool or cashmere in chilly weather. For example, a leather mini dress can be styled with black booties.
Rugged ankle boots can be worn with formal, frilly, or feminine gowns, adding levity and creating a casual vibe. The easiest way to wear a bootie and skirt or dress is by finding one with a low-cut front on the ankle. When wearing a casual bootie, roll up your jeans to complete the look.
Ankle boots can also be dressed up or down, with a basic black bootie with a biker edge being the best way to style a dress, especially in cooler months. Pairing a neutral sweater dress with a black dress with knee-high boots creates a chic and casual look. Black boots can also be paired with a black skirt, creating a long lean line.
In summary, black booties offer versatile and stylish options for various outfits, from casual to formal. They can be paired with a variety of outfits, from dark wash jeans to a leather mini dress, and can be paired with a variety of outfits to create a unique and stylish look.

📹 5 Ways to Style Ankle Booties
Hey Hey! I’m back with another 5 Ways to Style video and this time I’m showing you 5 ways to style ankle booties or boots. Plus …
I could follow a million stylists but what makes Lydia great is the educational part, supports sustainability and so much outfit inspo without the shaming of what is “cool” or “in at the moment”. I have been getting a lot of compliments since I am putting all your advice to work and into my (thrifted) wardrobe 😍
So helpful Lydia!!! I would love to hear from you on: – styles of footwear you think are classic for A/W (boots, sneakers, etc.) and will last season to season – work bag or workwear accessories in general (I am in desperate need of a durable but fashionable bag 😅) – choosing the right cut for blazers and trousers
I really like the educational style article Lydia.I am 5’4″ so if you could explain how to adjust your styling for the more petite person that would be great. I do my best to adjust your ideas to my height and older age but the concepts I know can be applied to all ages and height. By the way your hair looks lovely.xx
Love this type of article. Totally agree about the skirt length…sadly as a taller person so many skirts and dresses fall to a weird length on the leg but this season with maxi length coming back I am hopeful to find some suitable pieces. Would love a similar article for white/cream boots (I have the same By Far boots in cream and can never style them!)
I’m not sure I understand why all your dressy wide leg trousers drag on the ground! Especially your light colored ones. Don’t they get dirty and ruined? I’ve never seen anyone wear pants as long as you do. Granted you are tall but your pants are always hanging on the ground and it just feels like you need to make a trip to the Tailor
Thank you! Liking your articles! Only thing is when wearing daintier boots and saying it looked too top-heavy you had on a huge blazer so if course it did. I really love dainty shoes so would love to see suggestions for outfits that work well for them. Plus I don’t wear big, wide blazers or chunky shoes. Looks amazing on you but just isn’t my personal style. Also wondering your thoughts on how much tights or leggings in same color as boots could help or not when wearing skirts.
I have a pair of tall black Ralph Lauren boots that I wore all over Europe when traveling there to visit my daughter over a period of 10 years! They were beautiful and comfortable and it was hard to finally give up on them. But I purchased a newer, but similar version of them last year…. Truly the most versatile pair of footwear I own with classic good looks. Black boots are the bomb!
Thank you for sharing? Can you please make a article of how would you make a capsule wardrobe from scratch for all occasions and seasons? Maybe you have some ideas and guidance how and how many to choose bags, shoes etc, so they can play well together and not to have a full closet and be minimalistic? Just to explain why I’m asking in. I had to flee from Ukraine on a third day of war cause huge battles were happening near my home, and 10 days after eventually the missile hit my home in Kyiv. And obviously I have zero clothes with me. I had 30 minutes to leave, took my documents and a cat, that’s all. I was living sometime in Europe, then move to the US. All this time I had a feeling that I’m “traveling” temporarily. But as you understand there’s no where to go back. And I can’t put my life on pause also. I didn’t buy anything to myself. But obviously I still need clothes and I won’t lie it would be better to have something stylish. And your taste ( and style) actually relates to me. I really like it, I feel that it’s close to my taste. So I’m thinking of creating a capsule that can make multiple outfits for everyday, dates, work, just going out and fit in a medium/large suitcase, your actual wardrobe – I would be very grateful if you could give some piece of advice! I would highly appreciate it!
💟 Yes, I enjoy your theme of finding the right “balance & proportion” between shoes & outfit choices. Right now I have one chunky ankle boot but it’s not my favorite because it’s weighty, so I may donate them.Anyway, I look forward to wearing my tall boots, both flats & heels & explore more style options!. I also wonder how you would style cowboy boots…I have a black/red pair which I’ve never worn! Thanks Lydia…… 💟💜💟
I would love if you could “shop your own wardrobe” to see how you come up with new ideas to put your outfits together. I would say I got quite good in combining things but often times I gravitate towards the same outfit concepts which makes it feel less interesting and less varied. Love your vids and Insta posts!
People keep referring to various trends from the 90s that absolutely were never a thing in the 90s! Trust me, I’m 46, I was there in my youth and half the stuff talked about by influencers at the moment as 90s fashion is simply wrong! Not your fault at all but I’ve heard it so often said of late, I had to say something! 😳🫣
Thanks for this article it was very interesting. This is why I find fashion and style so confusing though. I was literally reading an article from 2020 the other day that said the opposite of what you said about leaving a gap of skin between boots and a skirt. It said leaving a gap of 2-3 inches between ankle boots and a midi skirt was the perfect way to style them and not leaving a gap looks bad. There’s so much conflicting information out there on how to style things it becomes really disheartening and makes me feel like I probably look frumpy and outdated even when I’m really trying not to and have done my research.
Hi Lydia, I’m new here and I love how you style clothes! In fact yesterday I ordered 2 satin midi skirts because I had just watched your article on that. I can’t wait to get them and start using your styling tips. I bought a black one and also a copper color one. Many thanks for these wonderful articles!❤️
Hi there. I’ve not seen your website before and I was initially going to make a comment about maybe showing what does work instead of what doesn’t work. And then I watched and you kind of did. I wonder if one day you could do something exactly like what you did here. But then with perhaps a few outfits, generic-ish, generic isn’t right. Classics. Which you did. But with a top. Then have the three boots. And a dark and light blazer or coat. And show what’s best and why. Like that first outfit, I would have loved to see what your finer boot liked like with it? Then its a direct comparison. And then adding a blazer helps the outfit how? Cause what if the air con in your work building is one of those crazy ones that make inside in winter feel like a sauna and in summer a freezer? I hope that makes sense cause that would be awesome.
I’m actually struggling to style my M&S over the knee (not quite thigh high) clingy but slightly chunky sole black boots (faux suede, flat). Are they still easy to style even though they’re tight around the leg? Should I just stick to longish skirts and dresses with them? Or can I get away with leggings and or denim mini skirt?
So helpful and glad you will be doing more articles like this. Could you talk more about color of boots? As a petite I am always looking to extend my leg length in pants – Should I wear black boots with navy or black trousers, or with dark denim only? What about brown boots or ivory boots? I have similar questions about belts, which I notice you often wear. What is the most flattering way to wear them? Would love a article just on belts! Thank you for all you do.
I have just come across your website Lydia and I am loving it 😍 Thank you for all the help and education to put in to your articles. I have done some of the don’ts and realized they didn’t work but could not figure out why. Now I am learning how to restyle my pieces and I am wearing MORE of my clothes. Keep up the great work!!! 👏👏
Some great tips here, Lydia! However, I think we need to be very careful about too many masculine pieces. You have such a lovely figure, not sure those very oversized blazers do anything for you. Some look three sizes too large. Very masculine footwear also does not flatter many women. The female ankle is tremendously attractive.
Love to see a review of footwear that gives height (for those palazzo or long dresses and skirts that are an inch too long to wear with flat chunky footwear) while being all day comfy, flatform, platforms etc. But timeless (your style) not trending of groupie styles which seem to be all I see when trying to shop…
I would love different styles of boots but I am a Size 42.5 and they are nearly impossible to come by. Sometimes I try a 43 if I can get it but often they are made so wide they are slipping up and down on my feet when I walk even though the length is fine. I did manage to get some knee high Peter Kaiser suede boots from Zalando a couple of years ago. I do wear them under flared or wide leg trousers as I can’t get any ankle boots to fit me. I would have loved to see the very wide leg trousers over the long boots to see why they don’t work as you said it didn’t work but didn’t demonstrate it. If you or anybody reading has any suggestions for shoes and boots in size 42.5 I would love to hear them. But wide fit is no good.
thank you so much for all your good advises! love your tutorials. may you please make a article about tights because i love wearing skirt and dress but i’m cold if i don’t wear thick tights. I can’t just wear skirt and hight boots like you do on the article but put black thick tights change completely the look . please help !
Lydia it needs to be said more often but you are a genius!!! Thank you for educating as always!! If I may make a small request, it would be really helpful if you could add cut-ins of other outfits that demonstrate your principle of balance, but perhaps using a different style of clothing (e.g. for those who are petite, or may not wear an oversize blazer). Thank you!
I love your articles so much. Thank you for giving us the why instead of just showing random outfits! I would love to see articles on: – What type of blazers are essential in your wardrobe (as versatile as possible) – Feel warm and look smart at the office at the same time Warm greetings from the Netherlands!!
Again, I’m the only person that this makes no sense to???? You all understand this advice and can implement it into your lives????? It’s just me who tries understanding her articles but just doesn’t get it?? I can literally never tell the difference between the No outfits and Yes outfits. I can not find any rhyme or reason to her “rules.” I cannot see how some things “make you look taller or shorter.” Must be time for me to give up trying to be fashionable and just dress how I’m comfortable
