How To Remove Fish Oil Off Clothing?

Fish oil odor in jeans can be caused by the chemical composition of fish oil, which contains fatty acids that can easily stick to fabric. To remove fish oil from clothes, use simple household items such as dish soap and warm water. Vinegar and baking soda are effective ways to get rid of fishy odor from clothes. Lemon juice is safe on colorfast clothing but only used on whites.

To tackle gelcap vitamin and fish oil stains, mix one tablespoon of borax with two tablespoons of water and spread the paste on the stained area. Let it work for at least 30 minutes before washing in the hottest water allowable for the fabric. Tide Liquid Laundry Detergent, clear dish soaps, white vinegar, and warm water can all work well at breaking down and lifting even the most stubborn oil stains.

Hand wash the clothes thoroughly with a good dish detergent like Dawn (wear gloves) and may need to do a few times to get the oil and smell out. Bicarbonate of soda is an excellent way to soak up grease, and cornstarch or talc is also good. Mix one part of borax with two tablespoons of water and spread the paste on the stained area.

Tide Liquid Laundry Detergent, clear dish soaps, white vinegar, and warm water can all work well at breaking down and lifting even the most stubborn oil stains. Wash shirt in hottest water recommended for fabric with heavy duty liquid laundry detergent and 1 cup ammonia on a small wash load. Repeat if necessary.

Old oil stains are best treated with WD-40 and baking soda. The solvents in WD-40 break down oils, loosening them from the fabric. Oils can be drawn out of fabrics by applying a thick layer of an absorbent powder, such as baking soda or baby powder. Soak the stain with dish soap and hydrogen peroxide, then sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda over it. Scrub the entire area with a toothbrush and let it dry.
