Mindfulness is a powerful tool for mental well-being and can be applied in various aspects of life. It is essential to have a consistent personal practice before teaching others, as it can lead to a more positive and effective approach to mental health. This course offers a comprehensive overview of the fundamental concepts, principles, and practices of mindfulness, along with interactive exercises to help students explore their own experiences.
The course also provides tailored advice for customizing mindfulness sessions and themes to meet the goals of the client base. One-to-one mentoring and feedback are provided to build confidence and master the pacing of the learning process.
Mental well-being is a crucial aspect of modern life, and mindfulness can help reduce stress, improve clarity, and enhance overall well-being. The “Caring Science, Mindful Practice” Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is a 4-week long learning experience offered twice a year, focusing on incorporating mindfulness practices into one’s life to reduce stress and improve personal and professional life.
However, there are challenges in translating mindfulness programs from face-to-face interactions between students and teachers. The course significantly increases mindfulness and work or study engagement, and reduces stress as measured with validated rating scales. By exploring the benefits of mindfulness, individuals can develop a transformative approach to their lives and contribute to a healthier, more balanced lifestyle.

The whole mindfulness-genre, new-age thought in general, is in some ways in competition, institutionally, methodologically, with academia. I suspect an envy on the part of our freewheeling professor, when he assumes their is mystique surrounding mindfulness. One could argue that mindfulness and mystification exclude each other. Isn’t there much more need for a MOOC “demystifying academia” ? Research question : What makes professor Goto-Jones associate the tactility ( in the Mcluhan sense of not being stuck in any of the senses) of mindfulness with mystique ? Mystique is very much a literary concept, academia has to fit its explanations in the linear, visual gutenburg-galaxy. mindfulness is attractive in our electrical age, because our chip body, the actual technological ground to the figure of mindfulness, favours its audile-tactile nature.
Yet again I simply cannot believe that courses on coursera with such amazing professors and knowledge shared are for FREE. That is mind-boggling for me… Having the chance to listen to all those amazing letures like the one I am going through right now. With such acknowledged professor currently talking to me from the Netherlands. Though in the past I listened to professors from Stanford University, University of Michigan or Washington and many many more…. How incredible is it? And Dr Chris Goto-Jones is the best! I am lacking words how helpful he and his course is! Once again. Thank you a million for this course. Best greetings from Poland
