Oh Jay! I can totally relate to the things you have said about the most valuable compliments you can give others ♥ What you are, how you live, what kind of person you are is of greater value than your outer appearence! Noboday can decide what they look like, but you can decide how to live after your inner values. ♥ I really love your website! Your incredible dedication to work, your purpose to support English learners from all over the world is so valuable. ♥ And yes – I love your creative sketches and I was laughing out loud, when photocopier man arrived! Stan Lee’s Superman, Spiderman, Captain America – they all were perusal enviously! 😋 Another thing I do like about you is, that you both are so skillful in using and playing with words. Your explanations are easy to follow and to understand. __ Your sense of humor hits the mark! ♥ Yes – there is somthing more I always wanted to write in a comment. Jay – I LOVE YOUR KIND SMILE! In love your expression, when you’re talking about baseball, when you’re teasing each other when it comes to differences in AE and BE. 😀 I’ve already mentioned, that I do love your new pair of glasses in another comment 😜 Vicki – I just love these comfortable looking sandals you are wearing in some of your former articles! 😅 And when you smile it’s just wonderful! 😯 Long story short: JAY AND VICKI – YOU ARE MORE THAN JUST BRILLIANT, MORE THAN JUST AWESOME (😋). Thank you so much for another great lecture! ♥
What a nice article. I like your smile, VIcki. And good job playing a superhero, Jay. I love it. Yeah, just putting what I learned into reality… hahaha… It’s nice seeing compliments for a change, since I’ve been working as a moderator for several communities so i had to review comments/posts people reported and that’s a good way to learn to INSULT in English, I tell ya. All the words my English teacher did not want to teach me (for good reasons) are there… HAHAHA! Now I’m a Dutch guy (don’t let my avatar fool you), and now you tempted me to do a similar thing with a Belgian woman about the Dutch language (yeah there is some difference between Dutch spoken in the Netherlands and Belgium)… Nah… I’ll leave the honor to you. But I like the friendly way in which you teach English in respect for both UK and US English. 😉
i always admire YOUR ability to look on bright side! YOUR positive emotions and cheerful attitude to life inspires me! YOUR article made my day today! What an awesome job! YOU are role models for me! P.S.I’m afraid, there are some mistakes, sorry. I was just wondering, if you might be able to record a article about different way to apologize. Thanks!
What a beautiful website. You’re really good at teaching english. I loves all your articles. They are really useful. I love you both of you. You’re really great toghather. Thank you very much for all the things you’re teaching to us. BTW, i am not trying manipulating you. All the things i’ve said are truth.
A fawney compliment in ur culture is seen as a manipulation, but in my culture it is a part of our daily life. We just keep making compliment as part of our traditions and customs . We master the art of empty compliments and threats . At any time if you you dont pay compliments, people will think you are mad at them. I know this sounds silly and inauthentic but this is a reality to some cultures
Sorry, I’ve commented about 2 times now and this is my third and I don’t want to seem too irritating. I just like to share my ideas with others 🙂. I wondered if you could do a article on sarcasm in the future as other cultures or linguists may not get it/ our way of sarcasm. This is only if you haven’t done it yet but I would love to see a article on it, but I hope I don’t sound like I’m forcing you to do anything.
Awwwwwwww! What a n interesting, funny, cool and useful article! I like that Photocopier man! 😀 It’s a really great idea! But I wonder if it was easy to carry that mountain of muscles 😀 And I’ve got a question. If we can pay a compliment, then can we buy a compliment? I’ve heard something like “You’re not buying me with that”, but I am not sure what it means. I think it means something like “I don’t believe you” And are there any other ways of using a word “buy”? And one more question. Are there situations, when we can/have to use “in” instead of “at”, when we use that structure “good at”? Thank you very much, Vicki and Jay, for this awesome article!
My English language teacher showed me this website! I really like your website! I wish you more and more subscribers! I think this website should be more popular!!! (Sorry me, if I said some wrong, I’m only learning. Some sentences may be weird, because I am from Russia and we have another way to change the message across). There are noone who make same articles in Russia! Despite the fact that you are not young for YouTube (I really hope I don’t insult you), you are doing all very well! Maybe I wrote some wrong, don’t worry, I wrote this comment only with best wishes and intentions! I repeat I inspired by your articles! So, if I have some problems with commas, it’s only because in Russian language slightly different rules for setting commas
Hi Vicky and Jay. Since I started to mastering my English and I am still not really sure about difference between there: Whom and Who When, While and Whilst I wonder if you can make a article about this, I have seen many articles or articles which explain this but I pretty sure your explanation will be much easier to be remembered and understood. Thank you so much
