  • I have several books that I have bought. I’m done reading them… I may want to read them again later. Can I delete them from my paperwhite to save storage, but I can send them back to my paperwhite by going on my Amazon account? I’m afraid to delete something from my paperwhite in fear I will lose them?? Help lol im not not tech savvy at all!

  • Since you asked…. Most of my books are originally epubs from my Mac library which have been turned into mobi files with Calibre or Epubor. As a result I loaded them from my Mac using USB because as far as I can tell they are not on the Amazon site even though they are now in my download folder on the Kindle Paperwhite 10th Gen. As there are about 200 books it seemed to take forever to get the Kindle to finish indexing them which surprised me in that it ran the battery down in one day.

  • Thank you!!! I was giving up on making and putting books into collections on my Kindle, because it was just too complicated. And I knew about the Amazon page, but never found out how to sort my books into collections there. And I do have almost 1000 books on there … Being able to do this online will make me enjoy my Kindle ever so much more 🙂

  • This is very helpful – a great article. Thank you! I have many docs (magazines and books that are bought outside of Amazon). When I try to put them in collections the still show in my library – it would be great of the only showed within the collection – do you know if this can be done? The next thing on my wish list would be creating rules (like in email) – if a doc or a book matching criteria arrives in the library it is moved into a particular collection …

  • I have about 70 books on my Kindle uncollected. I followed the advice of creating collections through my Amazon account of all of the books. Those collections absolutely do not sync to the Kindle. I’ve tried syncing, restarting, changing settings. Every book still appears in the uncollected tab. So now I have to redo all of the collections on the Kindle device itself. Not sure what went wrong.

  • Jan 23 2022. The steps differed for me in the U.S.. Had to go to a separate screen to create a new collection before selecting the books. I didn’t get a popup. Maybe because I selected 5 books first? But after the creating a collection screen, going back to the books, all 5 were then deselected. Weird.

  • I’ve organized all of my books online into collections. However, despite pressing “sync” on my new Kindle, and “sort” in my Library, collections shows up in the drop down menu, but it is not in bold and I can’t select it? Anybody else have this issue, should I download all of my contents to the Kindle?

  • Thanks, man! So is this the Kindle Library? When I buy via laptop, where do I buy to so I can download a book to Mac or Kindle? I want it kept somewhere where I can choose to download it later to one or two devices, and if a device broke, I could come back with a future device to download it again. So where do I select to buy to, to do this? Thanks again.

  • Question: I went into a collection and now can’t get back to my library. The top line is my library, but I’d like to open up the full library. I searched for all the books I own for a particular author and now there is no intuitive way to get back to my library. Can you help me? I’ve restarted my android phone and that did not reset it.

  • Thanks. I learned a lot. I have a few 100 Kindle books and I’m trying to get more organized. I’d like to archive books I’ve finished reading and haven’t opened in let’s say 3 months. But I don’t want to lose my highlights and notes. Is that best done on my laptop? Based on your advice I’m going to finally organize my books into collections. I have a suggestion. It might be good to explain that books can be put into more than one collection. For example, a book might be put into history, but also into politics. Just like playlists in your iTunes library. Thanks again for a great article.

  • Most of my books are EPUB files that have been converted to MOBI format using Calibre. I used to send them via email, but now that Kindle devices won’t support MOBI anymore, and since my Kindle is a 6th generation, I won’t be able to send the files via email or through the ‘Send to Kindle’ app. The only option left for me is to transfer them via USB in MOBI format. Additionally, this format preserves the book covers

  • Hi, Help please. Do you know what the Reading List is on the kindle? It seems to contain a few books from each of my lists on Amazon. Also, is there a way on the Amazon website that I can organise the stuff in the reading list? If I delete a book on my kindle, does it delete the purchased book from my account? Also, can I organise all the PDFs that I have copied on to my kindle into collections too, or only purchased books? Kind regards, Lee
