  • I came across MB about 1 year ago as I was researching cognitive decline in my husband. I bought it and he has been taking a low dose, 20 drops in 100ml water in a pump spray, twice a day. Just pumps maybe 6/7 times into the mouth. His memory has improved along with his general wellbeing. I also make pro biotics like kefir and reuteri which are phenomenal. He is now a fully engaging man again. MB is amazing 🇬🇧🇬🇧

  • Thank you very much Dr. I am 55 yok, 76kg. Heavy smoker and heavy drinker. 6 months ago I started 1% pharma grade MB with 40 drops a day. After a few weeks I was on a sailing yacht with my favorite cigar and Best bourbon. Suddenly I realized that I can not drink the damn thing. Anyway returning from the trip, I have asked to myself why am I drinking and smoking. I just stoped right there. Since then my mood was awesome. I can not recomend enough. Love MB

  • I was hit by a car and had a TBI where I didn’t know who I was, time/days meant nothing, and I got lost in my driveway for the first three months post trauma. I used infrared light/red light every other day for over two years, walked 8 miles a day with a broken arm, ribs, bones in foot, and a messed up thoracic spine, St. John’s wort for 1.5 years and then stopped that to start MB. The improvements were amazing with this combo. The two year anniversary was April 13, 2024, and I have resumed my private psychotherapy practice at about 70% of the number of patients I was seeing prior to TBI, my ability to work with time is spotty but I know who I am. I cannot tell you how scary it was to not know yourself. Fatigue is extremely common with TBI and that is where I really noticed MB’s biggest improvement for me. I hope you discover what works well for your optimal health – Blessings. 🙏😊🌻

  • I started MB about 6 months ago after seeing YouTube articles. I am 79 and weigh 110 lbs. I take no meds and am extremely healthy in general. I had just completed a physically demanding job and was taking a rest. I decided to try out the MB at this time starting with 2 drops in a drink. after about 15 minutes I felt an amazing surge of energy and felt compelled to get up and finish my job in progress which took several hours of physical labor. I have been taking 4 drops once a day since with occasional breaks. I just learned vit c works with and enhances and counteracts the color so have added that to my morning drink. I have told others about the amazing benefits of MB. my daughter has the most amazing skin at age 54, she uses MB topically.

  • During the early Covid lock-down days I became depressed and, after a couple of years of suffering, decided to pursue alternative interventions, rather than the standard psychiatric ones (SSRI, SNRI, + CBT), and went on multiple plant medicine retreats. I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority and a psychiatric social worker. About a year ago I started observing MB articles popping up on YouTube so decided to try it. And, IT HAS HELPED! When taking it I tend to have more cognitive and physical energy, a more steady mind, and mild improvement in mood. I weigh 70 kg and take 35 mg MB most days and also take week long breaks from time-to-time. These improvements were significant enough for me to continue with MB and in spite of, what for me its biggest downside, staining the toilet seat when I’m not careful.

  • Started dosing 5 weeks ago. Started with low dose increasing to 20 drops per day in water with powdered Mg. I started taking MB because of intermentant virtego that was not resolving through other theraputic tx. I’m an equestrian and have had head injuries (due to falls) over the years (I ride with a helment). In addition, for 6 months prior to dosing with MB, I’d eliminated sugars and histimine foods from my diet. While eliminating these foods and practicing intermentant fasting, episodic vertigo was still occuring. Reducing neuro-inflammation continues to be the goal. MB has reduced the episodic vertigo and feeling of ‘fullness’ in my ears and eyes. My hearing and eyesight have both improved. Memory and short-recall has improved. Balance has improved. I feel that mast-cell activation and autoimmunity is involved in some sort of LC (long covid) capacity. Quieting down the immune system is vital and I feel MB is effective as it seems to help remove viral debris and fungal overgrowth. I’m 66 years old.

  • Have been talking MB for a few weeks now. I have noticed an increase in energy and cognitive clarity for sure. I also suffered from eczema and am pleased to say that I have 99.9% clear skin. Very pleased! I’ve been taking mine I. A capsule form so there is no taste or staining issues. I bought clear capsules and put 10 drops in the capsule that is 5mg. I am taking two capsules in the morning and one at night for a total of 15mg daily. I might add, my adult son has been able to get off his ADD medication completely taking the same dosage.

  • I definately think with mb, less is more. I take 20 drops (approx 10mg) in 8oz of water with added vit c to improve flavour, and drink it through the day. I had a uti that would not go (weeks). I took mb (anti bi’s are only a last resort for me), and it cleared up in days; I have been taking it ever since (about 18 months), for all the above reasons stated in the article 👍

  • I started on MB a year ago. I had depression and felt I was aging too fast. Iam 64 and now I see and feel noticably a good difference. My hair has more brown iin it. My skin has thickened so less wrinkles. I have more energy. I take 2-4 drops in tea with a 1/4 teaspoon of vitimin C. Knocks the color blue down. I find with higher doses I get head aches. My husband just started on it. I dose him about 4 drops. He has it in his coffee without vitimin C. We’ll see how it go’s for him. I take it most days but but don’t fret if I miss a day or two. ❤

  • I’ve been using methylene blue since May 2023, and I can’t be sure, because I’ve made a lot of changes in diet and exercise and supplements, but I do feel that my general energy levels are higher and my thinking seems to be a little more sharply focused due to methylene blue. I put 2 drops of methylene blue in my coffee every morning, and I have a half panel of LED red and near infrared lights that I use frequently, both to alleviate muscle soreness after my workouts at the gym, and to help me sleep at night (I find that getting some red light first thing in the morning helps me to sleep better at night). When I first started using methylene blue, there was no change to the color of my urine, but now that I’ve been using it a while, I do get the blue to green tinge in my urine. Maybe at the beginning it was all being used up to repair all the damaged mitochondria, etc, as I was very metabolically unhealthy? (I still am, but I’m in much better shape now, and continuing to make progress).

  • I have been taking 20 drops per day for about 2,weeks now. I immediately noticed the Mental Clarity. I also noticed that I started remembering small events from my childhood which was surprising. But the most amazing thing has been my Sarcoidosis Rashes clearing up. Which is something only high dose prednisone would do. And that was just the 1st week. I’m excited to see what the future holds!😊👍

  • Thank you for this good information and I started taking it couple of days and skip couple of days. I did not pay attention a lot what’s happening but I noticed sometimes makes my bowel move fast and give me a clear mind which I needed. So I will pay attention more to what’s going on. Thank you God bless.

  • Thank you for this article❤. My MB is on its way. I am going to use it together with DMSO. Will start with 1x 1:1 Drop BM:DMSO per day. Will go on with 2x 1:1, 1x 2:2, 2x 2:2, 1x 3:3 – up to 2x 5:5 MB:DMSO. 65yo there is something to improve healthwise. Already take D, K2, Magnesium, MSM, Bor, Jod, alpha-liponacid. Am going to enhance with selen, zink, Natokinase, multivitaminsB, just in case. All the best to all of you❤

  • I started out with 1 drop of the standard Methylene Blue, 1% USP (Pharmaceutical) Grade in the morning. The first day I felt somewhat energized but after that whenever I took the 1 drop I felt very tired so I stopped it. After hearing this article and reading the comments I will take 10 ( 1/4 of the dose for my 84 kilogram weight ) drops in the morning.

  • I take 5 drops when I get sick . I also take full spoon of vitamins c and it does help. The symptom are not as bad and usually 2, 3 days without high fever and I am back to normal. During Covid doctors in Russia would recommend taking it or inhaling. But as they said yo have to do it the first 2 days of the sickness. I also give it to my 8 year old when she is getting sick. When I learned it has anti-aging properties I started to add it to my face creams. 2,3 drops for 1 fl. ounce jar. It doesn’t stain your face when you don’t add too much.

  • I have been taking MB for 18mths as a maintenance dose for better health and to help with inflamation. About to 60yr and feeling 40yr! I take 10/12 drops 2x daily in water. I feel so good on it that I have not yet taken a break (apart from a few days whereby i noticed my joints aching again). Wonder if i should? The dose i am on keeps my joints completely ache free. It is amazing! I also believe it is doing me some good in ways i cannot visibly see.

  • Started MB about 3 weeks ago, 5-7 drops in 8oz cold distilled water daily (I use a steel straw since I have veneers that don’t need to be blue!) I had lesions on my legs/arms/ankle skin from parasites/morgellons/insect bites gone wild/something! These have been healing up nicely. I sit in the sun for 20-30 minutes with as much skin exposure has possible and I use a portable infrared sauna about twice a week. I also noticed that my vision has cleared up and the “floaters” are gone from my eyes. Didn’t notice a big jump in energy until I started a carnivore diet with grass fed beef, pastured eggs and raw cream fat–wow! I feel like DOING something again. No doubt getting off sugar and refined carbohydrates had a lot to do with the energy surge, but combined with MB, it has really kicked in. I’m in my 60’s and look pretty well for my age–looking forward to many improvements. My understanding is that MB has been around over 150 years and was used in the treatment of Malaria. Wondering if there is a connection between MB ridding the body of parasite infestation and cancer being healed. Thanks for the article.

  • My dear friend put me onto this MB 2 weeks ago and I am loving it. I started taking 1 drop 3 times a day and up from there! I am only actually taking 4 drops 3 times a day and then I will stop for a week and then begin the protocol again. I have more energy, laser focus and I don’t crash half way through the day! I’ve also changed my diet to no meat & dairy and exercise 5 days a week instead of the 3 I was already doing. ✨️💙✨️

  • I saw an ad for MB so I decided to look up some studies. Most interesting to me was the neuroprotective properties that MB may possess. I bought some USP grade and have been using it daily for a couple weeks. I immediately noticed improved cognitive function the next day. I noticed this specifically in my thought-to-speech processes. I have however been having a bit of GI discomfort so I am wondering if the 1.5mL I’ve been taking have been too much. I have toned it down to just under 1mL. But taking the breaks is a good idea, I’ll do that soon.

  • This is interesting. I’ve heard some of my patients using MB lately. I’m trying to become better educated on it. It was not something we learned to use clinically in medical school and I’ve never heard it used that way in any of my continued professional trainings. There seems to be some concern with toxicity be it acute or long term. However the comments here show that many people are having fantastic results. I’ll have to research more and if it is as good as it sounds for patients health maybe I’ll have to bring it to my fellow Naturopathic Doctors.

  • I have been taking methylene blue for almost a year now, and like you have experienced the cognitive benefits of clarity, recall and elevated mood. I started out taking 10 drops in the morning, and have now started taking an additional 10 drops in the evening no Negative affects. Haven’t really paid too much attention to my skin or hair. I tried to take it on an empty stomach an hour before or after eating, and have also read to avoid taking while drinking liquids with caffeine such as coffee because it lowers its effectiveness. Do you have any opinion about taking on an empty stomach or avoiding combination of caffeinein the blood system?

  • interesting, I heard of Methylene Blue for health about a dozen years ago, the “nootropics” movement was just starting. Entrepreneurs were starting online stores to sell it, because, although cheap, the main common source was at pet shops as a substance for treating fish illness. Obviously this wasn’t pharmaceutical quality and people were naturally hesitant to take it as a supplement for themselves, so, from discussion boards of supplements, an online market was born. Also, I’ve not head of it used in psychiatry, in fact nearly the opposite: it was tried as a dye for pills and tablets in research, including for placebos, but interfered so much with results of studies of antidepressants, that pharmaceutical research became careful to stop using it! Actually while I found results fairly good, I also wanted to try various other antidepressants and supplements, so stopped using it for similar reasons

  • I tried the earth harmony brand and very slowly worked my way up to 15 drops a day but started getting light headaches and other symptoms of seratonin syndrome. So I stopped for a few days and tried again. Now I have those same symptoms even at 3 drops a day. I’m not taking any contraindicatiors. The earth harmony brand is pharmaceutical grade but has something called liquid gold which the BpH brand doesn’t. Do you think I should switch to BpH ?

  • I am 67, overweight, drink too much. Liver issues. But my diet is relatively ok, no sugar. I have MB and made up a 1% solution but I cannot seem to nail down the best dose. I think I am taking too little ( 20 drops) should I increase it please. I need to do something asap as I can feel my health failing quite rapidly. I feel like I am living with the flu on a daily basis. I am unvaxed btw. Thank you for helping people with your articles.

  • And keto eating also increases the number of mitochondria I understand. Combined with methylene blue is good I think. Niot only the tongue is blue, but also everything it touches. And the toilet bowl plastic parts will be stained. I can usually remove with vitamin C powder combined with vinegar (acetic acid is catalyst for removal), at least it removes the color. Then I clean with water and a soap product to remove the decolorize methylene blue.

  • Add Vitamin C. Which becomes a potentator for the MB. It becomes a light blue or clear depending on how much of each you use. “Ascorbic acid is the reduced form of vitamin C. On the other hand, the dark blue methylene dye is an oxidized form. When the two are combined, it creates a clear liquid form called leukoMethylene Blue with increased antioxidant power. Antioxidants are molecules that “put out the fire of oxidation,” thereby reducing oxidative stress and its resulting damage at the cellular level.”

  • Hello Doc – Just found your site tonight ! Thanks for posting this article as well as the one on the mitochondria and both are superb I have 2 questions for you… I bought MB to use for my traumatic brain injured 40 yrs. old son, for my husband who is bi-polar and on Lithium and for my met. lung cancer and MS, which I heard will help all of these. Since conventional doctors do not want to even hear you mention anything outside of the box of the ‘financial’ model…. *Do you have any opinion on someone who is BI-POLAR and well controlled on Lithium ? *Do you have any opinion on the benefits for CANCER ? Any thoughts would be extremely appreciated.

  • Dr. Just a question I take MB for colds a flu and it work really well by taking 10 drops 3 times a day for three days and it removes about 90% of symptoms if caught early. My question is I notice taking it with Soda water reduce dramatically the stain in my mouth, I haven’t take it with soda water for cold or flu, will the Soda water reduce it’s effectiveness?.

  • I’ve been taking MB every day with a few off days here and there for about about 6 months, Ive gone from doing 8 drops to just doing one filled pippet and squirting the whole thing out in water, I only really take it in the mornings guess I feel a bit better / clearer but I also am not sober dont smoke generally eat well and exercise. The fatigue I get is mainly coffee / sugar related I think so yeah. I get slightly concerned about the unknown side effects, but tbh I’ve been fine so cant complain x

  • Question: I have a colostomy (from diverticulitis blockage emergency surgery) and reversing on May 23, 2024. I can’t seem to digest steaks or heavy meals too well, lost 30 lbs. to 107 lbs., but was always skinny. They doctors say take more fiber, but have learned that is not good. Do you think MB might help with digestion or my condition now OR after reversal (healing wound will take 4 to 6 weeks at home)?? Other history: About 8 years ago I had a level 3 spinal fusion and 2 years ago, a hip replacement (dog tripped me on stairs), then I had the emergency Colostomy blockage surgery last August – they had me on antibiotics for UTI’s for 8 months before the ER Colostomy because of a recurrent UTI, but actually, at Urologist, they missed the large kidney stone that had been causing the UTI’s (they found during my ER surgery for the blockage), and took this kidney stone out after the blockage surgery manually with a stent. Then, this last XMAS in hospital for scar tissue blockage. .… just FYI, in case history matters. Barely in hospital or sick before all this started (very healthy before I was 60). Now 68, soon 69. I feel all those antibiotics have really messed me up – they loaded me with antibiotics again in IV’s at hospital! I have started on a good liquid vitamin and Saccharomyces Boulardi probiotic with MOS a prebiotic rated high for colon issues (sold on Amazon) just last week. I see you answer most inquiries, so thank you so much!

  • I’m so grateful for your website! I was tested for Epstein Barr virus and it showed that I may have had it by the high antibodies count. I have continued symptoms still – swollen lymph nodes and extreme fatigue every so often. A ct scan showed a cystic legion near my left ovary. Doctor, do you think MB can help me? I’m so desperate to get better. I’m in my late 40s, 5’8, weigh 105 ibs. Thank you for your help and your informative articles!!

  • Please do a article on drugs and supplements that can lead to serotonin syndrome when taken with MB. I was taking sea buckthorn with it and was high as a kite. I looked through my other supplements, which included boron, and that increases serotonin too. Then I discovered that creatine, which I was also taking, also boosts serotonin. Could the serotonin effects in these supplements lead to serotonin syndrome, or is it only SSRIs?

  • Well how can I get it because I have parasites and I think it’s becoming a pandemic it’s called strongyloidias. I’ve been very sick for 4 years with sores everywhere but I didn’t notice the tiny little worms until the past year. They resemble threadworms threadworms. I couldn’t get anybody to treat me even though I pulled them out right in front of people doctors I mean. And the first time I got treated was in January and I peed out all of these like invisible worms they were the toilet was spinning the water and I did my camera times 10 and took pictures and articles and it was incredible they were like really long worms but they were very clear and it was hard to see them I know these worms can swim because I looked it up

  • I’ve been using Methylene blue for some months I would say since the last summer and I found that it has helped me but I am still in the experimental stages I am not completely aware of its advantages so I’m just kind of moving along I was taking a lot of drops in the beginning like 20 drops 25 drops in one sitting now I’m only taking about 10 drops and I’m wanting to see how that bodes for me

  • Edit: there is info about this at the end of the article, hence the importance of perusal everything. 😀 I went for your advice and I’m taking 10 drops twice a day, 3 days a week. For my surprise my urine was dark blue. I had little water on that day, so the second time I urinated, it was very light blue and I assume this is normal?

  • im from Bulgaria and i cant find any methylene blue for oral consumption everything after 2017 is toxic i buy it from a guy who have some from before 2017 we use it with alot of herbs in alcohol extract and water fermentation extract mixed together with the methylene adding it in fermented soy milk is some of the top reductors -350 redox potential amazing for the skin when the methylene is active its colorless this happenes via anaerobic fermentation or infra red light! can u help me find from somewhere to order methylene?

  • I’m brand new to methylene blue (no this is not a poem). On Amazon I’m seeing bottles of 99% methylene blue and bottles of 1% methylene blue for the same size and same price. But I can’t find an explanation on the difference between the two. Can someone explain to me the reason why some bottles claim 99% and others 1%?. I would think they must be the exact same size, but I don’t see any information identifying why one is 99% methylene blue and the other bottle.is 1% methylene blue

  • Id say a homeo pathic dose is usually smaller and some times works just as well this is all new to me but I can see the cognitive benefits though Im looking for healing benefits to perhaps accelerate the healing in my body such as slow wound healing and skin issues be nice if there was sat an external way to apply this but of course there is the severe staining effect so I dont know how you could safely apply. but for now the internal path will have to suffice. Mainly I was litterally poisoned with anti biotics from my doctors. I dont trust doctors for a lot of things sorry n the covid thing where the untested treatment was worse then the disease. Actually it was tested on animals and all the animals died. So we were the rats. Bullshit!

  • I have had covid 3 times, more or less sick for 2 years, and tried a 1/4 low hospital dose oral. The taste reminds of a mix of paint and metal. It definitely had a very good impact short term. My breathing and brainfog more smooth movement, alot better. But after a few doses it almost come back up again in a vomit. As many others say I belive less is more with this, and short term use, a month here and there-

  • Please, can someone help with the dosage? (cognitive decline) I can read on the bottle “20 drops = 1ML.) I Googled it, and apparently, 1ML(Millilitres)= 1000MG(Milligrams) So, 1 drop = 50Mg I’m 77kg. If I take 8 drops, that’s 50Mg × 8 = 400Mg. So, it’s 400÷77=5.19 If I understand, people should take between 0.2 and 2Mg per Kilo. Does that mean that 5 is too much? And then I read in the comments that some take 40 drops(!) Confusion…confusion…

  • .. to be honest I hate how they always give the per kg but never give me a reference to what that looks like in pounds. It’s like what’s that look like k e for someone 180 and i don’t have time to go figure all that shit out and in a world where I can cry cuz I want to I’d rather spend it bitching about it on a long comment.. your welcome

  • I take it orally via transmucosal administration–held in the mouth rather than swallowed straight-away. Mixed with castor oil, DMSO and emulsifying agents such as glycerine, lecithin and deoxychollic acid seems to work even better. Used in the context of a high temperature hot tub at 118 f, I find this to be most helpful. concerns about loss of gut microbiome would seem to be rather absurd as we are not ruminants and thus do not depend on such activity for most of our health needs.
