  • I really enjoyed this! Thanks for giving us a bit more of your background! I also used to do a fair amount of musical theatre, choir singing, and played in an orchestra. You’re making me feel inspired to pursue some kind of music going forward. 😉 And TOTAL Trekkie over here, too! I adore all things space, myself (I’ve been wanting a great NASA tee or sweatshirt for a while…). My fave Trek is TNG, personally. Anyway, thanks for sharing! Would be happy to see more “life” stuff! 🙂

  • “Earl grey, hot.” haha! You’re a trekkie, that’s awesome! I also love tea & scifi, (& fashion & shoes). One of my favorite tea shops is Canadian, David’s Tea. Thanks for the get to know you article, great fun! I live in the US in the DC area & recently travelled to Atlanta & Athens in Georgia–and I have to recommend a shop I discovered in Athens, GA called Community. It’s all about slow & ethical fashion. They have sewing classes to teach how to alter your clothes (or design them), and they redesign & remake vintage clothes & sell them in the store. Actually, the town was full of vintage shops–I was in my element! instagram.com/communityathens/

  • I’m new to your website but I’m already a big fan. Nowadays there are a lot of YouTube websites talking about slow fashion and minimalism but most of them just telling and retelling the exact same tips and tricks. You are different. I love your attitude towards slow fashion and how you you create so many different outfits based on a simple everyday day wear. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and tips. ❤️

  • I really enjoy your style, Alyssa. You have a talent for melding conservative with just enough edge to keep it interesting, but still timeless. Since I don’t work, I’ve never purchased a blazer, even though there have been occasions when I needed one. So upon your recommendation, I set forth bravely to find me one, only to be overwhelmed by the number of options out there. Then to make matters more difficult for myself, I went online to Selfridge’s website where I found even more beautiful blazers not sold in the mainstream US dept stores. Single breasted? Double breasted? High, mid, low hip? Wool or wool blend, or is wool too hot for my tropical Houston climate? So many beautiful choices out there.. Shea Whitney, YTber, made an interesting point: find a blazer that is essentially timeless, but that has a small detail that makes it stand out from the rest. Sounds like good advice. Oh, and BTW, I workout every weekday at the NASA facility in Houston (google Gilruth Center). I pass rows and rows of NASA logo tees, sweats, hoodies, caps, etc for sale in the lobby. They’re the real deal. If you’re interested in any, let me know.

  • Dear Alyssa, I just wanted to say that I have stumbled upon your website a few days ago and I cannot believe it took me so long. I have been browsing through popular fashion websites for years and I must admit I have never found one whose philosophy and style I could relate to as much. It is not just the way you think conceptually about fashion, minimalism and pushing creative boundaries that spoke to me but also your presentation. I love that your articles are lively, informative and yet, straight to the point. I used to live in Montreal before moving to Texas, so I really enjoy the cold weather shots and outfits as well. I loved this get to know me article and I feel like I can relate to you. I am a grad student who spends as much time thinking about fashion as doing research. And this is the first time I am commenting on a website. Best of luck!

  • Over 9K subscribers! So happy to notice. I’m also a Star Trek and Star Wars fan I used to run back to my apt. from a class in college to not miss an episode. What a creative way to share objects in your life that have special meanings to you. I typically share stories of encounters with people who made a lasting change in my life. Thank you for your thoughtful and creative approach. Always looking forward to your articles on Sunday! Have a wonderful rest of the weekend Alyssa!

  • I am Italian living in Germany and have no money for expensive clothes and no clue about fashion (even though I lived in Italy for most of my life ahah), but I am interested in sustainability and fair fashion so I like to watch your articles and I also learn something more about dressing properly! You are also adorable to listen to (even though the unfocus this time was a little annoying). Love tea and scifi! I am lazy and hate running, but I take some sport activities as a way to take care about my health. Very happy that your website is getting popular. GRAZIE! XOX Valentina

  • Hi Alyssa. Would you please think about doing a article based on when you need to add something to the wardrobe, maybe an extra day fashion piece also when an item of clothing is worn out or has been completely ruined, maybe from stains or ripped and can’t be fixed so must be replaced. Do you look for that exact same piece or rethink this garments uses and buy a different colour perhaps etc. I would love to see and hear your response to my questions. By the way love that fold over handbag and your wedding shoes – gorgeous. Your mum looks great too. Bev xx

  • Alyssa, thanks for another fantastic article, adding a personal touch to the website is an absolutely brilliant idea! I would appreciate it if in your future articles you could share some thoughts on how to shop both ethically and locally in North America. I’ve recently moved to Canada, and I find it really difficult (especially in comparison to Europe) to find local clothing and footwear brands that do not outsource production to China, Vietnam, etc and make high quality and long-lasting pieces. I know you’ve already mentioned a couple in your previous articles, but a more extensive coverage of the topic would be extremely helpful. Thanks again, and happy Canada Day!

  • Te amo Alyssa!!! We’ve just returned from a wonderful holiday in Sicily and every time I watch your articles I can not help but think of Italia. I love this country so much and my wish is to own a small country house in Sardinia some time (when I’m older :). I love your fashion sense especially because I’m so bad when it comes to mixing up pieces that I already own and you’re the Queen of that. Baccio! xx

  • I am a HUGE Star Trek fan and watched the first series with Captain Kirk and Spock during my late childhood/teens. The Trouble with Tribbles was one of my favorite episodes. My favorite was The Next Generation with Captain Jean-Luc Picard. I purchased the disc set! The Star Trek movies are fabulous, as well! I also fell in love with STAR WARS…when they first came out…I believe I was almost 21 at the time. Love them! Loved getting to know you and I enjoyed the article!

  • Hi Alyssa – crazy how much we have in common. My parents are Italian immigrants, I was born and raised in Ottawa and took Economics at Carleton. I also worked Finance for 15 years as an associate to a broker. Have since left the biz as my son was v sick with cancer 12 yrs ago (now cancer free thank you CHEO). You are so relatable and down to earth and you let your sense of humour shine through. Yes I’m also a total nerd (Trekkie and MCU fan here). I mean, don’t we all have a nerd in us? Really enjoying your content and learning so much!

  • Well, ‘Youtube suggestions’ finally threw this little gem in my way! ah.. tea, running and trekkies, knew we had something in common! Although the downside of religiously perusal Star Trek is that I can not for the life of me take that cropped pants over ankle boots look that is currently dominating Pinterest seriously. I keep having flashbacks to captain Kirk’s glamorous legs 😉

  • I could tell from the first time I saw one of your articles that you are Italian! I have ALWAYS dreamed of going there! I am a tea drinker and Star Wars fan too, not as much Star Trek. (of course I adore shoes and fashion too, why else would I be here?) Really enjoying how simple and to the point your articles are, LOVE that!

  • Thank you for your heartly article, I really like to get to know you better 🖖 I live in the capital of Ukraine, thousands kilometers far from you but nevertheless have a filling they you are friend☺️ wish you luck and inspiration and do more articles for all these people who adore your website like me 🥳

  • Alyssa, I think more & more people are catching on to your articles, because you are so full of life, and your content is good, and you know how to pace the timing with helpful info as well as visuals, so: hooray, and here’s hoping you gather more & more subscribers! (And thanks for another fine article!)

  • All of your information is not only applicable to the younger set but to us older ones as well. Even though we would not wear the exact, sometimes edgy pieces, we can adapt the idea to what we have. To add that isolated red shoe for instance. That’s just a good style tip that applies to all ages. You are fun, clear and full of ideas. Keep it up.

  • Great ideas!! I love the first look with the jumpsuit and the chambray shirt with pleaded skirt. Am a stay at home dog mom 😊 so office look is a bit too formal for my lifestyle. With that said I must admit I dress up and makeup everyday to walk my doggie on style! The street is my catwalk 😂😂!!! I love fashion inspiration.

  • Hi Alyssa, i accidentally stumbled across your website a couple of weeks ago and i am so glad that i did. I’ve watch almost a dozen of you articles already and love them! Love your warmth and cheerfulness, content and helpful tips. I am just starting to build a basic wardrobe so all your articles have been very helpful – thank you xx from Australia

  • Hey Alyssa, found your website recently & enjoying it. Great pieces in this article and others but I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally wish you could link to the pieces you mention. I can’t find the info on your blog either for things like the skirt, the white blouse, the black jacket, and some gorgeous watches I see you wear….the tank watch, etc. Please share your sources as it makes your content even more helpful. Thanks! Keep up the great styling!

  • Hello Alyssa I’ve the dress down skirt with denim blouse. I do like a blouse buttoned down although in the summer I wear Lasne blouse,in dufferen5 colors with camisole which I can dress down or up with accessories. The denim jacket, we should all have one. The subject is appropriate since many of us are caught at the en$ of a season “what to wear”. Great ideas and love how you set up your blog.

  • The red lipstick is GREAT! It really suits you. A good moisturizing balm is Blistex Lip Medex. They make a bunch of products, but the little blue container of Lip Medex is the best and so soothing. Happy smiling! I also love the shopping tip, since Italy is one of my favorite places to visit and shop. Keep ’em coming!

  • Loved it! That jumpsuit is a must have. Every time you style it I get hit with fashion envy. The split in the legs is such a beautiful surprise. Just let me shop and buy from YOUR CLOSET. Please! Another jumpsuit nailed style-with the neutral leopard print belt. And I love that Bob’s shoe store is actually ran by Franco. Of course he isn’t Bob! : )

  • Alyssa I LOVE your articles! I just found your website a few weeks ago and I’m going through the back catalogue. You have a beautifully natural way of talking through a subject that you clearly have masses of experience in. I adore seeing how you style things: this article demonstrates so great ways to extend a work wardrobe without it being remotely boring. I’m looking for clever ways to put together a work wardrobe without resorting to the often-quoted black suits, black court shoes, trench coat (*yawn*) or items that are too sexy to hold hold a meeting in! Suggestions would be gratefully received. Ciao!

  • Interestingly enough in Sweden you would wear the darkjacket jumpsuit variation mainly as CEO, in banking or in fashion or politics with NO heel or lower heel or at parties and the other variation to Work as We have a serious hesitation to overdressing at Work, interestingly enough if you want to be taken Seriously in Sweden you avoid high heels at Work so americans showing up for Work to us seem as dressing inappropriatly and actually too forward sexually so might get a lot of unwanted Attention and might be passed over for promotion because they are not dressed for work . That Said I totally love your styling and since I am in politics, have been in managment could totally wear it, but thought it could be fun to show with a Very clear example why anyone should be Very careful of cultural mores in dressing for Work in other countries . It can seem like “oh its a western country, ill be alright ” short answer NO . I know I cannot at this point dress for Work in Italy, I would Seriously have NO clue what to wear . a tip for working abroad ask a woman at your level or at the level you want to go in the industry you are in as well as where you might want to go ( and not someone who might feel you are the competition) – do not ask men, they Will tell you its fine but subconciously feel that something is not quite right …. if you have a hard time finding a woman see if you can Google photos as a start and if specifically in Sweden join a union as they can give you pointers . Again Seriously loved this and use it for inspiration .

  • New subscriber here….i love your articles…been perusal every chance i get…which is mostly when my kids are sleeping 😊. You are a breath of fresh “stylish” air…if there is such a thing😆. perusal your vids and listening to your “advice” feels like therapy. I’ve been trying to shop less and use more of what I already have and perusal you inspires me so much. 😙

  • Great styling tips! I love the dressed up jumpsuit outfit because it highlights your waist and incorporates animal print in a very corporate appropriate way! I would suggest a baseball cap with the dressed down jumpsuit outfit. When wearing the dressed down skirt outfit, I would suggest wearing your hair in a top bun and adding the red statement earrings that you are wearing in this article.

  • Is it just me…or am I the only one who “saves” her good outfit ideas for “special occasions”, because I don’t want to waste the idea? Anyone?…Bueller? For example, there are days at work where I know I’m going to be in meetings for a good portion of the day. So I find myself on my non-meeting days wanting to reach for my “meeting days” outfits because they’re usually way cuter and more styled. But then I stop myself and go with my usual look and find myself bored and uninspired.

  • Hey, so I have a work uniform so thankfully dressing for work isn’t something I have to worry about. But I do have a few clothes in my closet that aren’t me but I hold onto just in case I have to sit an interview or do a speech or something. You know, stuff that’s restrained and uptight – NOT my style. However, this article has helped me to think about how I might be able to adjust my regular wardrobe to allow for those occasions but still get rid of these ‘interview only’ items, (cos I keep trying to minimise even more). So thanks. (I loved the jumpsuit ideas by the way – not the others but nothing is ever gonna sell me on pleated skirts)
