What is the average education rate in America?
In 2021, 37. 7% of the US population aged 25 and above graduated from college or another higher education institution, a slight decline from 37. 9% the previous year. However, this is a significant increase from 1960 when only 7. 7% of the population had graduated from college. Educational attainment varies by gender, location, race, and age in the US. Asian-American and Pacific Islanders have the highest level of education, while Massachusetts and the District of Colombia have the highest rates of residents with a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Education levels are correlated with wealth, as public education is free up until 12th grade, but university costs are out of reach for many Americans, making social mobility increasingly difficult. White Americans with a professional degree earned the most money on average, but males typically earn more than females.

Academic grading in the United States typically involves five, six, or seven letter grades, with A+ being the highest and F being the lowest. Numeric-to-letter-grade conversions vary between systems and disciplines. The typical letter grades awarded for a course are A, B, C, D, and F. Variations on the traditional five-grade system allow for A+, A, A−, B+, B, B−, C+, C, C−, D+, D, D−, and F. In primary and secondary schools, a D is usually the lowest passing grade, but some schools consider a C as the lowest passing grade.
In college and universities, a D is considered an unsatisfactory passing grade. Letter grades are typically assigned a numeric rank, from which a mean grade (Grade Point Average or GPA) is calculated.

I recently discovered you and i absolutely love ❤you and your website !!! I have been ” Ben perusal ” your articles. And when I watched the article about why we fail at our side hustles you hit the nail on the head with me !!! Now I know why I am sitting here 6 months later and nothing has happened !!! That article help me so much and I am grateful and blessed to have found you !!! Thank you so much !!! ❤
Great Info thank you! I did register for the beginner course to AI with Python! The only is that you do have to pay $299.00 to receive a verified certificate but you can still take the course for free and set a weekly pace. The option to pay for a certificate can be done at completion. Thank you again❤❤
We greatly appreciate the review as we spent the year of 2012 online doing about a hundred courses with Harvard, MIT, JapanX, QueenslandX, Penn State, and several others including all three courses in Cherokee Language, beginner, advanced, and expert. MIT had a good series on Chinese, we had some Korean, Japanese, Thai, Russian and many other funtastical programs on the FREE networking and Learning websites we kept bumping into…one thing leads to another aspect of finding new and interesting subjects Like Neurology at MIT, just saying…anyway, great review on your website, thanks a million.
That’s great but you comment at the end, but miss the key point: The classes are free if you take them in Audit, yes. However, not so if you don’t take them as a Certification, which costs $199. And comes with extra material and unlimited access as well. But for some of these to sell your services, you will need the Certification. Not sure if you can take the class, pass it in Audit(Free) and then turn around and pay $199 after and have them give you certification. Perhaps?
The” free” classes she is talking about are on the Harvard business school online course website, but they are only free if you don’t need the certificate of completion afterwards. I know this is true as I took that computer science IT class there a couple of years ago ! I wanted to learn Python and html coding but if I needed the certificate for a job, then it was around $200-$300 to get it. It’s probably more than that now though.🤷🏻♀️
You are good, I love your speaking and attire style, humor, and non-verbal emphasis. You convince me to take the public speaking course just for my personal development. I subscribed at the 2 minute mark, and this complements your delivery, because in two days I watched 5 profesional speakers and none made me want to subscribe, although their topic is what I need now. Your topic was just a curiosity click. Congrats, power talent.

Hi Odetta! Always a pleasure getting a notification of your articles. I have a question about payoneer. When signing up as an individual, I thought that you would automatically ‘have a bank account in the US’ after your account is approved. However the option to view these bank details are not available to individuals. How can one switch an account from individual to freelancer to be able to get these account details? Thank you!
Good advice! But there is more to the story in getting work than just an Ivy certificate. You need more than that in the USA. You need work history, and references, then capital for marketing to promote your business. Sure maybe it is easier starting out in a country besides the USA but competition is tough in the USA.
While it’s great to take classes and courses that you can always increase your skills because it’s valuable, I just want to say as a manager in the IT field who manages data and business analyst it is not as simple as just taking one of the certificate courses from an Ivy University, or anywhere else. There are other skills and or education that we do look for before hiring someone to write any type of business requirements, system, requirements, or analyzing data and writing requirements for creating reports.
Great suggestions. I have to disagree with 2 courses. It is Illegal in the U.S. to draft contracts if one is not an attorney or a paralegal working under an attorney. I know this because it is my profession. 2nd, one cannot act as a nutritionist or nutritional consultant without a state license while working under a doctor. Both of these violations can land you in prison. It’s called practicing law or medicine without a license. There is one exception and that is graduating from a very expensive multi year naturopathic college. The nutrition course would be useful for landing a job with a weight loss doctor or a chiropractor who sells supplements. However, you cannot work independently.
Hello Odetta, thank you for the amazing content, however these introductory courses are not professional certification courses, they are good starting and introductory courses, that can help gauge the decision to go into the specialty, however in order to go into the specialty you need to at minimum complete the designated professional certification program which identifies you as a certified professional, or puts you in the position to be nationally recognized through the national accrediting body of that specialty, for example google data analytics is a professional certification program. Once you complete the course or boot camp you then take the exam and it will provide certification stating that you are a Certified Google Data analytics professional. The Havard courses are just free introductory courses for online college credit and or recording of a college course, not a certification program.
To answer the question you start this article with, 💖, it depends. If you’re a migrant and/or a woman of over 45, having Ivy League names on your CV can get you branded as a scammer or as delusional in some countries, and I’m not kidding. I love Harvard, however, and I really wish that there were Harvards in other countries, but fortunately, yes, they make quite a bit of their education and discussions freely available to others, which is how I discovered that I love Harvard (though probably not all of it), so I am definitely going to continue perusal this article. I’m highly intrigued now.
I see that you made this article one year ago in March of 2023. Itis now March of 2024 and when I clicked on your link for the Harvard page it said that the page was not found. Then in the top lefthand corner it said, “Courses”, so I clicked on it. There are many courses offered but most. of them are not free, nor do I see most of the courses that you mentioned. Please update this article. It was quite interesting but it no longer seems to be valid.
No one’s going to be success overnight it’s when preparation meets opportunity and I’m not talking about preparing for 6 months taking like one little course you might get to you might get a job in it or cyber but you’re not going to be really making any big money unless you’re in the government contract but you know what as I tell everyone who takes a shortcut nothing good lasts forever it all
At 12:35 she stated, “you don’t need to be an attorney to draft contracts.” That is ABSOLUTELY false!!!! It is a crime in the United States to “practice law” without having a law license, and courts have established that even in assisting someone in selecting blank firms for them to fill out the form in their own can be construed as UPL (the Unlawful Practice of Law), which is a felony in many US jurisdictions!!!!
