What is the mother candle concept?
Engulfing patterns, either bullish or bearish, are the reverse of inside candles, where the first candle completely consumes the second. An inside candlestick pattern is created when the high and low of the current candlestick are contained by the high and low of the preceding candlestick, suggesting minimal price change since the preceding candle. This pattern is applied to various trading tactics and is seen as a hint of market consolidation or a potential breakout.
Forex traders use this pattern to identify market consolidation or potential breakouts. Inside day candles are considered bullish if the ending price is higher than the initial price and the inside day occurs within a clear upward trend. If bullish, traders would use a buy or long inside day trading strategy.
Bearish inside days indicate upcoming sell-side pressure, and when the following criteria are met, a day inside is deemed bearish. This pattern allows for the implementation of various intraday, swing, or inner day trading methods.

However, there is no evidence that this quote comes from China or a Chinese philosopher. The true author of the quote is actually William Watkinson, taking his cue from Thomas Carlyle in the 1830s. The quote is considered an old softie for Eleanor Roosevelt and should not be attributed to her.

Great review as always. I wear MFK Baccarat Rouge Extrait and I have the candle as well. I’ve been waiting until Spring to burn it. I have the MFK Oud candle as well. I made the mistake of using it once with my candle warmer in my bedroom and it smelled like Oud for over a week and I’m an Oud lover. It’s been my experience that candle warmers amp up a candles scent by a factor of two or three. I’m still working to build up my Fornasetti collection so thanks again for the review.
love your website, honestly, it relaxes me. so thank you! After seeing your article on diptyque candles and their wax of choice i started to read all the labels for every candle that I currently own. So I recently finished the La Trouverie by MFK and i know they use a blend of mineral and vegetal wax. So here comes my question, why recommend MKF candles and not diptyque candles if they both use a blend of mineral and vegetal wax? Is there, and if there is, what is the difference?
My dad has raised two teenagers with a some help from our mom (my parents got divorced when me and my brother were very little) and I gotta say, he’s doing great! The amount of times he’s had to help me with my homework while I’m tired and cranky and just want to go to bed is astounding. And he’s a teacher! His day is filled with parenting even when they’re someone else’s kid! To all the parents of young children, it gets worse. But at the same time it actually gets better! Your kids get more independent, they can be safely left alone for longer and if you do things right, they won’t hate you when they’re teens. Make sure you can trust each other. Aproach them as someone that is too young to know or understand anything, but as a friend. And remember to acknowledge your mistakes. I know I find it annoying when adults make it seem like they know everything and that they are always right. Hold their hand when they need it or ask for it but remember to let go at some point. Everyone has their ups and downs and everyone needs help every once in a while but trust me, it will be all right. With love – an 8th grader who loves her dad Ps. Thank you to all parents ❤️
Mine put Vaseline all over the TV himself and stuck a glob in the vcr. I didn’t yell just cleaned him up. He found my Bobby pins and was sticking them in the wall socket getting zapped. I got plugs for the sockets and when he put the pin in he couldn’t do it. He was 12 months old. Now he will be 42 and it feels like yesterday. I kept saying don’t get upset he will be a man soon. I miss that tiny guy.😪 Love Mama
I am a gay man who doesn’t plan on having children, but I LOVE SNL skits like this one. There so beautiful and real. Parenthood is one of the most difficult but beautiful things ever. I am so proud of and happy for all the people who take it on, and especially those who can’t have their own and adopt a child and make a positive difference in a Childs life. That is one of the most special things to exist.
got to say, I watched this after spending all day making the kids clean their rooms which always ends with me having to literally give step by step instructions on picking up the toys and putting them in the box less than a foot away., dealing with stuff like a kid pealing paint from the walls and pouring the contents of a glade plug in out onto their bed (yep, that room is never going to smell the same again.) and finally getting a shower for the first time in three days after all the kids actually went to bed without a fight and this made me tear up a little while I laughed.
The only thing missing in this article to make it perfect is a scene at the end showing the baby smiling, laughing or giving a big hug.. to show that really all of the struggles and hard moments are so WORTH IT for those sweet moments of IMMENSE love, connection, and intense happiness you get to experience with your child. ❤️ It truly is magical.
i grew up taking care of my nieces and nephews while their parents worked. so like, almost everything you could experience as a parent, i’ve experienced while babysitting/raising those kids. it’s hard as fuck, and tiring as hell. still, those kids now think of me as their other parent and their parents joke that they’re my kids, too. and i love that. but omg, it is no joke. to this day, literally the only thing keeping me from having children of my own, is the knowledge that it would be a hard-ass struggle to raise them, and i don’t think i’m willing to go through that again. even though i love kids and would love to have kids of my own. it’s just… it’s brutal, lol.
I felt this. And the end had me in tears. It’s so easy to beat yourself up as a parent and think you’re not doing it ‘right’ and that your kids will hate you, when really they hopefully know you were doing the best you could and no one is perfect. All those times you accidentally lose it and you’re exhausted from not sleeping and staying up with the baby, and being barfed on and poop explosions and you’re beyond frustrated and cry out ‘why won’t you f*cking sleep!’ that is real life right there. Here’s to all the parents doing the damn thing and getting through life one day at a time 😊🙌
Yes it’s hard and it’s good. And that’s life isn’t it? Most worthwhile things are hard too. There are rewards to being a mom that can’t be contained in words like when my 7 year old walked up to me when I was out of control wailing over my dad’s death and he put his arms around me, held me for the longest time and patted my back saying “shhh, shhh….” it’s was it surreal and one of the most beautiful moments of my life. What beautiful mercy From my child to me in my deep grief. Here’s to moms in all the glorious and hard and beautiful! Life happens in these moments! 🙏🏻♥️
My littlest baby girl used to spit her baby food at me if she didn’t like it- the older one spit out beets while doing the raspberries and spattered everything purple. The littlest baby girl was more direct with the baby food she didn’t like. It was EXACTLY like that moment in the article at 2:48. This was hilarious!
As the oldest of 5 I don’t have kids, but the worst story I ever heard about one is this:. For Christmas, the mother gave the father an electric razor (not the only present, but a significant one.) The father gave his wife a mink coat. The presents were all wrapped and under the tree on Christmas Eve to be opened in the morning. Their 5 year old son got up in the middle of the night to see what Santa had brought. Who hasn’t done this? I always did. But this kid opened all the presents and then shaved his mother’s mink coat with the razor. True story.
A similar thing happens when mothers talk to moms-to-be! A long time ago when I was seven months pregnant, my favorite line was, “Oh, labor is not that bad! It’s just a little bit worse than a cramp”! I NOW imagine the person telling me that, probably had a priest called in due to her head turning 360 degrees during HER last stages of labor! Stop the lies! Stop the lies! ☺
New mom. 4 months in. The overwhelmed phasing out part is serious. Its like a mix of sleep deprivation, crushing anxiety, depression, & mind consuming self hatred & guilt for feeling this way. Like why am I not Snow White? Why does every movie end with a happily married clueless couple holding their newborn in the hospital? No one shows you the real grit. I would have loved to see Father of the Bride 3 where Annie Banks had a baby that had to be rushed to a NICU in another hospital where she couldnt hold him for a week, struggles with post partum depression & a baby thats not bonded to her, trying to be a do-it-all stay at home mom, realizing the “village” that promised to help never visits, teaching her husband how to do it all because his dad never did, asking her husband to watch his own baby for 15 minutes every 4 days for time to bath because shes disgusted by the smell of her own body, slowly loosing it more day by day because he gets to shower daily & go places with his friends, feeling more isolated than ever, going to bed each night with shakey tearful anxiety, wondering if her happy marriage would survive, wondering if she just needs medication, contemplating formula, calling herself bad names like weak & a bad mother for simply considering formula, & lastly trying to call other parents about how she has the only baby that never sleeps & everyone condescendingly saying “Yeah it happens,” while they act amused that another person has joined this hell. Like we fell for a trap sold by Hallmark & they find it funny.
I remember when my Lil boy put superglue in his eye thinking it was eyedrops, then jumped on the table busted his lower lip needed stitches, then got lost in the mall for 20 minutes hiding under the bag table, then peeing in our neighbor’s yard so the neighbor and I got into a fistfight lol! ahhhhh the joy of parenting. Fuck that I don’t want to experience it anymore I’m done!
This article made me smile but i can honestly say hand on heart my mother is an amazing women and my best friend. When all my friends were hating there mothers and not wanting to be around them in the teen years, We were planning family holidays, days out and fun things. Now at 38 she’s still my best friend bless her heart now at 71 with a host of health issues and still fighting every day i’m truly blessed to have her. Then you add in the fact that my parents have been wed 51y now that’s a strong women to keep all that together and four kids for so long.
I know it’s hilarious, but if you’ve lost your mom like mine ( 5 years ago next month ) it also reminds me that they were truly perfect at times in our eyes, particularly later in life when we feel the need to make up for all the horrible things we did to them as children.Although I realize the vice versa is true for many people too. So while it’s funny, it also makes me cry remembering how much I wanted to make up for every thing I did as a kid, and feel like I still didn’t do enough before she had to go. Love you mama, miss you.
And this is exactly why I’m never having children. Ever. I love my independence way too much to be tied down for over 20 years. And then there’s the insane amount of money one must spend for rearing them throughout the years. Yep, I’ll be like Ellen DeGeneres, in my sixes with my husband, happy and without children (or I guess at that point they’d be grown up lol).
Honestly, this is the most accurate thing! Parents, all you can do is try your best and love your kiddo(s) with your whole being. They will drive you up a wall one moment (my 1.5 yr old son tore the wires out of phone charger where it meets the USB part) and the next they are the sweetest little angels (he climbed up on my lap, cuddled up and passed out). It’s wonderful and awful all at the same time some days. But when you do your best and love them wholeheartedly, they know it.
