  • The author does like to from scratch, youtube.com/post/UgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

  • I love this table! I have enjoyed perusal your website grow, it is well deserved as you are TOP in my book for how to build beautiful home furnishings. It is so nice to be able to say “I built it myself”. I love the details you give. Thank you for sharing your talent with us, may you have continued success and many blessings!❤

  • So no glue, just pocket hole screws? Over time will this crack with potential movement? I’d like to try but have read using pocket holes only can over time cause the boards to crack as no allowance for movement but if there are no issues will give it a go. Also what about any warping of boards? Thanks for any feedback. Love perusal your articles 😁

  • I like this modern table design, but won’t the mitered apron corners eventually show large gaps? The aprons screwed crosswise into the top boards will inevitably move with the seasons at a different rate than the aprons screwed along the top boards. If you live in a four-season climate, I’d be skeptical of this design. If you look at the $2,600 table that served as inspiration for this build, you can see that it’s made from veneered MDF, which would work better for this design.

  • This is exactly what I have been looking for last few days. I am very interested in woodworking and had actually taken a class about it in high school. So far only thing I have done was a hardwood cutting board which I cut from a piece of log using a chain saw. I didn’t have any other tools at the time so I hand sanded it. Took a while but I have been using it for last 3 years. Now I have a power drill and a circular saw and wanted to make something a bit more interesting. A smaller version of this table will be a great start. Thanks!

  • Nice table but I do have one concern. Do those legs allow for wood movement. If not, this table(may take years) will split if the wood is not allowed to expand and contract seasonally. If use use screws smaller than the holes with large flat washers in the legs, this should do the trick. Keep up the good work.

  • I think using the caul boards the way he did works but there is a better way. Usually over that distance and that grain direction the caul boards will bend, ultimately not keeping your table completely flat. Flip those boards on the edge grain, give them maybe a 2degree cut from each end meeting in the middle, this will account for any bend. This is how you get a really flat table top without having to use a planer. Other option of course is to just take that table top to a commercial planer somewhere.

  • general purpose wood screws aren’t the way to attach those legs- Also, you used a straight edge, special tool “from home depot” to make your holes, and your clamps- Several hundred dollars in tools you forgot to mention. (I’d say the dust mask and safety glass are tools too, and most don’t have plainer/edgers..) But, looks cool.

  • love your website, great articles as always. So you say that the straight-edge that you used to rip the boards was good not great. I’ve had trouble finding a good straight edge but being a new woodworker i don’t really want to invest in woodpeckers gear. So all of that to say, what are some straight edge / measuring tools that you would recommend?

  • i’m getting a new house/work space in february! Your articles have brought me to tears with motivation and happiness through a bad depression. Thank you for what you do. I’ll definitely be tagging my work that’s either work you’ve done, or inspired by your work once i have the tools and house! Thank you so much!
